Willow Alcala - August 20, 2004 - April 30, 2024

Departed: 04/30/2024 (Tracy)
Obituary Preview: Willow Alcala, aka Jason Rudy Alcala, Jr., was born in Woodland Hills on August 20, 2004, and passed away on
Tuesday, April 30, 2024 in Tracy California. She was 19. Our beloved child left us too soon. When Jason Rudy Alcala, Jr. was born to Jason Alcala and Tiffanie Heben, and joined his older sister Alexandra, our little family was complete. Always in the highest percentiles for height and weight, Junior’s round
head and chubby cheeks made us smile. Junior was one of those calm babies who was content to be carried and felt no rush to talk. Junior simply adored his sister, always wanting to be with her, and we spent many vacations together in Monterey and Florida – the kids chasing the waves and each other.
Jason started school at Hirsch Elementary. His passions were legos and Thomas the Train, interests he shared with his “twin”, Spencer. Jason played TYSL soccer and Babe Ruth baseball and took fencing classes. While not a top athlete, he found his niche as goalie and loved fencing older students to show his cunning. In third grade he switched to Southwest Park, where he found friends who were with him through his time in the IB program at Tracy High and beyond. They made Jason part of their many activities and adventures: Tracy High Cross Country, camping in Oregon, zip lining in Canada, and other high school hijinks. Jason was also a lifeguard at the Joe Wilson pool and worked for a time at Royal Gymnastics. Jason chose to attend CSU Monterey Bay, where he studied Marine Science. During that time, Jason transitioned to Willow. She was a top student, earning Dean’s List each
semester of her short tenure there. Willow was a private person who felt things deeply. She loved her animals: Pillow, Max, KitCat, and Mikey. She planted strawberries and broccoli with her dad. She had a passion for working on cars and computers, learning from her dad and the internet. However, her struggles were bigger than most and bigger than we understood. We loved her dearly and are
heartbroken that we could not keep her with us. Willow is survived by parents, Jason Rudy Alcala, Sr. and Tiffanie Heben, and sister, Alexandra Heben Alcala. Also, by grandparents: Bessie Aguilar (Manny), Russ Heben, Stephanie Matheney (Doug), and Bettie Smith. By great-grandmother
Petra Alcala. By aunts and uncles: Aaron and Kelly Alcala, Tami and Ed Burke, Juliana and Shawn Durie, Russell Heben and Mary Clemens, Uriah Heben, Demar and Michelle Machuca, Ingrid and Craig Canton (honorary). She was preceded in death by grandfathers Rudy Alcala and Harold Smith. Our deepest thanks to the family and friends who have shown
us their love with kind words, food, flowers, and candlelight during this impossible time.

Guadalupe Sereno Kayhan - December 23, 1972 - April 10, 2024

Departed: 04/10/2024 (Tracy)
Obituary Preview: Guadalupe (Lupe to her family and friends) was a resident of Tracy, CA who passed away on April 10, 2024. Her spirit, love and generosity will be missed. She was born Guadalupe Sereno Garcia in Jungapeo, Michoacan, Mexico on December 23, 1972, to Manuel Sereno Nava and Felicitas Garcia Sereno. She was one of ten children and the oldest of four girls. She emigrated to the United States in 1993, initially settling in San Jose. She met her husband Alexander Kayhan working for the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur. She was a second mother to Curtis Kayhan and helped him thrive and navigate the struggles of adolescence and adulthood. Lupe had three children with Alexander and later moved to Tracy, where they spent the last 18 years of her life.
Lupe’s desire to help others and selflessness inspired her to pursue a career in health care. She worked in the health care industry for many years as a phlebotomist and medical assistant. Along the way, she also fulfilled a lifelong dream of owning and operating her own taqueria -- Lupe’s Taqueria, in San Jose. Lupe’s Taqueria quickly became a neighborhood favorite as Lupe served up classic taqueria fare that was “muy delicioso”.
Lupe’s greatest passion was her devotion to her family. As a child she helped her mother cook and take care of her younger siblings. She also taught her brothers and sisters reading, writing and math. Even while attending a strict, academic high school, she helped her parents harvest and sell fruit to support the family. Rising early to meet the challenge, she was one of only 11 students out of 48 that graduated from her high school in 1992. This helped her realize the value of education which she instilled upon her children.
Some of Lupe’s favorite hobbies included cooking, gardening, penny collecting, and gold panning. Some would say she had a “green thumb” when it came to the vitality of plants. Some of her fondest memories included taking her children on adventures throughout California and to Michoacan to show them the beauty and uniqueness of these states.
As a devoted wife, she took the marriage vow of “in sickness and in health” to heart as she supported Alex during his health challenges. As a loving mother, she was proud of her children’s academic accomplishments and their other activities. After Alex passed, her devotion to her children’s wellbeing and success only increased. She will continue to be with her children in spirit and support them as they move forward in life.
Lupe is survived by her children Zaila, Aaron and Anderson, her stepson Curtis, her mother, and her nine siblings. Her husband Alex and her father predeceased her.

Juan Antonio Mendoza - June 24, 1966 - April 05, 2024

Departed: 04/05/2024 (Tracy)
Obituary Preview: On April 5th, 2024, Juan Mendoza unexpectedly passed away due to health issues. Juan is preceded in death by his parents Tony and Mary Mendoza, a son Ramond Mendoza, a sister Particia Stenberg brothers Robert Mendoza and Gustavo Perez. Juan is survived by his five children Mark, Brandon, Amanda, and Brianna, nine grandchildren, six sisters Carmen, Meda, Roberta, Michella, Ramona, Julie (a niece whom he grew up with) and countless nieces and nephews.
Juan Antonio Mendoza born June 24th,1966 in French Camp California, to parents Tony and Mary Mendoza. What this little bundle of joy did not know was he had 6 siblings waiting at home for his arrival! Having been the youngest and born into a big family, Juan had to learn some survival skills early on. He was often being chased through the corn fields, tomato fields, tossed in a ditch all in fun by his siblings, but his childhood was filled with many distractions, nonetheless, having been spoiled by his parents, made him forget any unfairness he may have felt. Lol Juan had a great sense of humor, coupled with his quick wit, a time spent with him was one filled with laughter and joking.
Throughout Juan’s life he had several jobs, but in time he developed a love for cooking and took on the job as Sous Chef at Cocina de Juan Ristorante where he was known as chef Jojuan. In the last few years Juan moved to the countryside of Tracy where he was an agricultural worker.
Our dad faced numerous challenges throughout his life, yet one thing remained steady: his love and care for his family. He worked to ensure our well-being by providing food, clothing, shelter and instilling in us the importance of responsibility. We his children hold many cherished memories that will forever remain irreplaceable. Dad you were taken from us too soon, we take solace in knowing you are now in a place of peace.
Juan will be missed by all who know him and his kind heart, See you in the promise land.
