Tommy had a fulfilling career, starting at Johns Manville in Waukegan, IL and later transitioning to work as a commercial Union painter.
Tommy had a passion for hunting and fishing throughout his life, starting when he was a boy. Tommy’s niece Allison has fond memories of her Uncle Tommy teaching her how to ice fish when she was a young girl. Tommy was a father figure for his nephew Dan Hogan, taking Dan fishing many times in both Summer and Winter. Dan spent a lot of time with Tom and Mary enjoying family dinners and watching NASCAR. Tommy even helped Dan fix a water pump on his first truck.
Tommy had a love of gardening. He always had crops to share and even made his own “PaPa’s Pickles”. He cherished the tranquility of his country home in Warrens, where he cultivated beautiful vegetable gardens and formed lasting friendships with his neighbors.

Tommy's love story with his wife Mary began in their teenage years in Northern Illinois in the Zion/Wadsworth area. Many Sundays were spent playing softball with their neighborhood friends near Newport school in Wadsworth. Tommy had a laugh that could fill a room. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who had the pleasure of knowing him. May he rest in peace. I’M FREE!
Don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free.
I’m following the path God laid for me.
I took his hand when I heard his call.
I turned my back and left it all.
I could not stay another day. To laugh, to love,
to work, to play.
Tasks left undone must stay that way.
I’ve found that peace at the close of the day.
If my parting has left a void.
Then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss.
Ah yes these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow,
I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savored much,
Good friends, good times, a loved one’s touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief,
Don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now,
He set me free.

He always called to let us know the County Trucks were out. Kim enjoyed his grandson Carter stopping over at his house just so they could talk about school, practice, or a game. That’s the reason Kim always made sure there was a Pepsi on hand for Carter at Grandpa’s house. Kim enjoyed his good morning and good night text messages from his grandson, Jacob and picking on him about what sports team he was supporting for that week. Kim looked forward to every Friday as he was able to help watch and care for his granddaughter, Bailey. He was stand in father for many people who needed one.
