John Joseph O'Loughlin III - August 30, 1972 - January 11, 2023

Departed: 01/11/2023 (Hudson)
Obituary Preview: Hudson, MA
John “Johnny O” Joseph O’Loughlin III, 50, a lifelong resident of Hudson, MA passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, January 11, 2023. John fought (like the strong Irishman & Viking he was) a 2year courageous battle with cancer. He leaves his loving parents John Joseph O’Loughlin and Jo Ann Jacobs O’Loughlin.
John was born in Framingham, MA and raised in Hudson, MA. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Hudson H.S. class of 1990. He was a member of the Hudson Hawks football team and was the teams MVP his senior year. He was honored to represent the Hawks as a member of the National Football Foundation and Hall of Fame Central Massachusetts All-Stars in June of 1990. A solid and talented running back for the Hawks, he was fondly referred to as “Big Johnny O” by his coach’s and teammates. John held the record most yards running in a game from 1989 to 2012 when his 292 yards was surpassed. His name is often mentioned even at present Hawks Football games by spectators who recall his talent. He was a member of Saint Michael’s Parish in Hudson, MA.
John’s first work experience was roasting nuts for Arcade Snacks of Hudson, MA. He worked for Jo Barb Farms during high school and in 1993 moved to New Hampshire to work on his mother’s fishing vessel “The Lady D” as a commercial fisherman for a short time. John started his long career in the construction industry and worked locally for several construction firms including H.L. Smith-Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Robinson Construction, North Hampton Excavation (Eric Brosseau), Keystone and Lynch. His peers in heavy equipment construction always thought of him as a talented and smooth operator. Eventually John settled in with the D.A. Bosworth Company, Inc. in Braintree, MA. He was a very proud employee there and was working when he became ill. John’s love and devotion to the construction industry instilled a passion for his daughter Kylie to enter the field.  He taught Kylie everything he knew about the construction field and was very proud when she passed her operators test. John and Kylie were fortunate to work side by side for the D.A. Bosworth Co. John’s nephew John Tierney also followed in his uncle’s footsteps. He currently owns and operates Tierney Firewood and Excavation of Brentwood, NH.
John always had many hobbies and interests but taking a ride on his mountain bike in the hills of Worcester was always fun, especially when his daughter Kylie joined him. She once clocked him at 55 MPH “He had no fear”. He enjoyed hunting with his lifelong friend Donald “Woody” Worden and was unbeatable at chess. He had a love of swords, Vikings history, astronomy and music. He was quite the poet and a talented artist. He cherished his role as a father figure and role model to his nephew Jacob O’Loughlin.
Besides his parents, John is survived by his maternal grandmother Nancy (Jacobs) O’Neil; his daughter, Kylie Navarro O’Loughlin; his sister, Andrea O’Loughlin Tierney; brother Sean O’Loughlin; sister Cazmira O’Loughlin; uncles James O’Loughlin and James Jacobs along with his nephews Jacob O’Loughlin, John Tierney and niece Scarlett O’Loughlin. He also leaves the mother of his daughter and best friend Danielle Navarro DiPietro; life long sister’s best friend Kim Ripley Viegas; his cousins, Dolores Choiniere, Robert Adams, Frank Smith IV, Tom O’Loughlin, Meghan O’Loughlin, Kelsey O’Loughlin, James O’Loughlin, Kristen Choiniere, Kennon Choiniere, Darlene Deptula Hicks, Casey Hicks, Cooper Hicks, Frank Deptula and Jared Deptula along with Joe and Barb Donato (Jo Barb Farms); lifelong friend Donald “Woody” Worden and many aunts, uncles and cousins on the O’Loughlin, Jacobs, Deptula side of the family. He was predeceased by his paternal grandparents John J. O’Loughlin  and Charlene C. Deptula O’Loughlin; maternal grandparents John T. Jacobs and Dolores Wagner Jacobs; maternal aunt Barbara Jacobs Smith and uncle John T. Jacobs Jr.; Cousin Frank Smith V and best friend Doug Wardell, Casey O'Gorman, Bill McPhee and Annemarie Algeri.
John will always be remembered by his strong faith in God and always setting aside time for morning and evening prayers. John’s life was cut short by cancer but he leaves a legacy of love along with memorable quotes and values for his family to continue using, remember and cherish. For those that loved and knew John they will forever miss his unique eyes and smile.

Dora Anastas Naves - September 24, 1923 - January 10, 2023

Departed: 01/10/2023 (Hudson)
Obituary Preview: Marlborough, MA Dora Anastas (Stephens) Naves, 99, longtime resident of Marlborough, MA passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 10, 2023, at home surrounded by her loving daughters. She was predeceased by her husband Thomas Joseph Naves and two daughters, Jennifer Jeanne Naves, and Paulette Edith Naves. The daughter of the late Anastas and Pauline (Christie) Stephens, she credited her “Albanian genes” with her long and active life, first in Hudson and then in Marlborough.
Dora and Tommy started their life together in Las Vegas, returning to the East Coast when they found out they were expecting the first of four girls. Tommy became a firefighter, while Dora taught cooking at the Girls Club on Mechanic Street. Soon after, they embarked on their next adventure to acquire investment properties. Her children and later grandchildren acted as her own personal squad of wall paperers, painters, and cleaners. Dora’s affinity for real estate continued with her first real estate license at over 50 years old. She worked for many years as a Century21 agent for Greg Mitrakis, before founding her own business: Dora Naves & Associates.
Most knew to look for her situated behind her desk at her real estate office on Hosmer Street, always welcoming visitors, both new and familiar. The exception to this rule was Sundays at St. Luke’s Church in Hudson. Dora was a pillar of the parish for decades and was later granted a lifetime vestry position.
Beyond her work and church life, Dora extended her heart to its furthest reach, never tiring of helping others. She was a life-long volunteer, often driving cancer patients into Boston for treatment, an extension of the American Cancer Society phone line she operated out of her home for many years. She taught her family the importance of always helping those who were less fortunate, whether they were human or animal. This tendency to help others came from her mother. Though they were not well off, Dora’s mother always ensured that they sent whatever they could to assist other families in need. Likewise, she attributed her passion for gardening to her father, often regaling her family with stories of their massive garden on Cherry Street. Like her father, she loved having her hands in the dirt.
She is survived by her two daughters, Stefanie R. Ferrecchia and partner Bobby Kays of Marlborough, MA, Pamela A. Naves of Gibson, NC; her grandchildren, Christie, Aaron, and Jenna Ferrecchia, and Gabby Perez along with other relatives and friends.

In this latest chapter of Karen’s life, Sharon Lisnow, Mary McSweeney and their dedicated staff at the Respite Center created a second family for Karen. For the past eighteen years, Karen lived in a shared home sponsored by the Respite Center, enjoying her time with her three roommates, Kathy, Jenny, and John, along with the staff who took care of their every need.
Karen was loved by all who had the joy of meeting her, asking their story and happy to share her own as well. Karen always had a smile on her face, content to be with people. She had a knack for dates and ensured that everyone in the family knew when a birthday or anniversary was coming up. Oh and yes, there were phone calls and Facetimes, not just about the special dates, but calls to family and friends daily to say hello and see how they were doing.
Karen could be regularly seen in her New England Sports apparel. She was an avid fan of the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics, and would remind her family and friends of every upcoming game and call to chat about the outcome. She never missed her weekly Pigskin Pick-em and even won several times. When Karen was out somewhere, you’d more often than not hear a “Hey Karen” because she knew everyone and everyone knew her.
The family would like to extend their deep gratitude and love to all at the Respite Center for showing Karen so much compassion and care and filling her life with respect, joy and love.

Timothy Alan Peterson - September 24, 1969 - December 02, 2022

Departed: 12/02/2022 (Hudson)
Obituary Preview: Timothy Peterson, 53, of Berlin, MA
The world lost an amazing man on Friday, December 2, 2022, after being stricken ill at home.  You will never find a better husband, son, father, papa or friend.
Born September 24, 1969, to Alan Peterson and the late Patricia (Thomas) Peterson, Timmy was raised in Marlborough, graduating from Marlborough High School in 1987.  While in school, Tim played on the football and wrestling teams and was captain of the wrestling team his junior and senior years.  Tim’s nurturing nature began young, when fresh out of school, he began coaching youth sports including baseball and football.  He later earned a degree in Mathematics & Engineering from Quinsigamond Community College.  A long-time member of the Marlborough Fish & Game, Tim played Santa Claus at the annual Children’s Christmas Party and had done so for the past 20 years. Timmy was a proud member of Local 104 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers where he had worked on various job sites on heavy equipment for high tension wires.  Often, other locals would borrow him to get his expertise on job sites or for a particular puzzle with a machine. He would troubleshoot it over the phone and have the machine back in service in no time,
Timmy and his wife, Amy (MacLaren), found a second chance at love and were married in 2013.  The countless adventures they’ve been on while cruising in the Caribbean will always provide precious memories.
Taking cruises, playing cards, or camping with family at the beach were just a few of his passions outside of tinkering in the garage on the latest car that needed a “little” fix.  His latest passion was his motorcycle.  Getting some wind therapy with Amy or taking a solo ride up Mt. Wachusett brought him so much joy.
Tim always put himself last, and as a final act of his selflessness and willingness to give, his organs were donated, per his wishes, so that others may have a chance at a fuller life.
In addition to his wife and father, Tim leaves behind his stepmother, Vicki Peterson, his children, Ashley Pierce and her husband Joe, Maxine Baker and her partner, Trevine Jean, Richard Baker and his wife Morgan, Katelyn Peterson, and Benjamin Peterson and his partner, Kat Callahan.  He was also the proud papa of three adoring grandchildren, Peyton, Jackson and Brooklynn.  Tim also leaves behind his mother-in-law, Diana MacLaren, his sisters-in-law, Michelle MacLaren and her partner Daniel Kelley and Judy Congdon and her husband, Jeff, along with his niece and nephew, Lila and Owen Rice and his godson, Bradley Deleskey.  Countless other friends who were like family will miss his wit and sarcasm.
Calling hours will be at Tighe Hamilton, 50 Central St., Hudson, MA on Friday, December 16th from 4-7pm. The Marlborough Fish & Game will perform a reading at 6:30pm.  A Celebration of Life will follow on Saturday, December 17th from 11am-3pm at the Marlborough Fish & Game, 1 Muddy Lane, Marlborough, MA.  Dress casual please for the services, as Timmy would hate to see any suits!  Bring your favorite funny story to share of Timmy on Saturday (can you pick JUST one?!?).  Donations may be made in his honor to the Children’s Christmas Party, Marlborough Fish & Game or New England Donor Services, 60 1st St., Waltham, MA.
