In addition to her mother and husband, Pam is survived by her daughter, Amanda Lowery; son, David Lowery and wife, Kristi; five grandchildren, Jordan DeVault, Chase Lowery, Jackson Gerhardt, McKenna Gerhardt, and Grayson Gerhardt; and her sister, Paige Parker and husband, Robert.
Pam was a loving, giving, beautiful woman who will be immensely missed by all who were blessed to know and love her.

Born in Augusta, GA, she was the daughter of the late Jeff Robert and Elizabeth Pittman Willis, Sr.
Mary was a 1950 graduate of Greenville High School and a 1954 graduate of Furman University. She retired from the Greenville County School System after many years of teaching at Mitchell Road Elementary. She was a faithful member of Buncombe Street United Methodist Church, Greenville. She cherished the Tommy Thomason Sunday School Class and served on several church committees. She received great joy delivering Meals on Wheels with her husband, David. In her spare time Mary was a Master Gardner. However, her greatest joy was time spent with grandchildren, family, and friends.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Iva Boerma and husband, Richard, and Margaret Jones and husband, Wendell; four grandsons, Dr. David Boerma and wife, Jessica, 1st. Lt. Ben Boerma and wife, Grace, Palmer Jones, and 2nd Lt. William Jones; granddaughter, Caroline Toniolo and husband, Steve; great- granddaughter Grier Toniolo; and two beloved cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brother, Dr. Jeff Willis, Jr.
A visitation will be held Friday, May 14, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at Buncombe Street United Methodist Church in Greenville, SC, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at 3:30 p.m. in the Sharon ARP Church Cemetery in Sharon, SC.

Obituary Preview: Jerry Joseph Tufo, Jr., 40, beloved son of Unmi Park Tufo and Jerry J. Tufo, Sr., of Greenville, passed away at his home on Monday, May 3, 2021.
Born on March 30, 1981 in Papillion, Nebraska, Jerry was the eldest of two children in the Tufo family. Growing up, he was a gifted athlete who enjoyed playing a variety of sports including golf, baseball, basketball, and football. At the age of 12, Jerry developed a neurological disease (Guillian-Barre Syndrome) that led to paralysis and required him to use a wheelchair. Although physically challenged, Jerry continued to use his body and played wheelchair basketball in Greenville, SC for three years.
After his father retired from the military, Jerry's family relocated to the Upstate in 1998. He attended J.L. Mann High School and graduated in 1999. Jerry was a self-taught artist who loved to draw. After high school, he continued his art education at Greenville Technical College where he studied animation. Despite continued health challenges, Jerry remained physically and mentally strong as well as fiercely independent throughout his life.
During his leisure time, Jerry was happiest outdoors and often went bass fishing with friends Ben and Bill Breshears. Jerry was a friendly and outgoing person who found ways to connect with all people no matter how their origins or beliefs differed from his own. Jerry's beautiful soul and compassionate heart will never be forgotten.
In addition to his parents, Jerry's memory lives on in the hearts of his sister and brother-in-law, Helena and Ben Breshears of Greenville; grandmother, Mrs. Carrol Tufo of Watertown, New York; four aunts, Cathy Tufo and Paula Ford, both of Watertown, New York and Sun Young Park and Woon Ju Park, both of South Korea; and four cousins in South Korea and two cousins in Texas.

Obituary Preview: Melvin N. Merritt, Jr., 66, died unexpectedly on April 30, 2021 at Autumn Care of Saluda, NC. He was born in Greenville, SC on November 4, 1954 and was the son of the late Melvin N. Merritt, Sr. and Helen Lawson Merritt. Melvin attended primary school at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic School. He was a 1973 graduate of JL Mann High School and went on to earn his Bachelors of Arts degree in Music Education from South Carolina State University in Orangeburg, SC in 1977. He taught school for a time following graduation from college and later become a cruise ship musician and a freelance artist. His favorite music repertoire was jazz, and he gained a strong reputation as being a sought after saxophone player in the Greenville area and surrounding communities. In addition to specializing in the sultry sound of the alto saxophone, Melvin often included piano and flute into his repertoire. As a freelance musician, the sounds of his Saxophone can be heard on the musical tracks of several recording artists including the "Indigo Girls." Melvin also loved to read and his favorite hobbies were the study of numerology and the collection of rare stones. He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church. He is survived by his sister, Kathleen A. Merritt of Simpsonville, SC; brother, Phillip D. Merritt and his wife, Rita, of Atlanta, GA; two nieces, Helen A. Merritt-Brockman and her husband, Quentin, of Greenville, SC, and Ashley Merritt of Compton, CA; two great nieces, Brie S. Merritt of New Orleans, LA, and Kinlyn Williams of Orangeburg, SC; and a devoted cousin, Jacqueline Clement; and a host of uncles, aunts and cousins. Melvin was a kind soul who loved God and his fellow man. He lived a simple life and was always appreciative of anyone who reached out to him with kindness, especially during his hour of need. The funeral mass will be celebrated Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church with burial to follow in Resthaven Memorial Gardens. Obituary Preview: Rev. Carl Eugene Breazeale, 90, peacefully passed away at home with his family by his side on April 29, 2021. Born in Pickens, SC, he was a son of the late William Guy Breazeale, Sr. and Hattie Mae McAllister Breazeale. He was a retired Ordained Church of God Minister as well as an Ordained Baptist Minister. At the time of his passing, he was a member of Praise Cathedral. Rev. Breazeale was a US Army Veteran, and upon being led into the ministry, studied at Holmes Bible College. During his fifty years of impactful ministry, Rev. Breazeale pastored four churches for the Church of God: George's Creek, Simpsonville, Ware Shoals, and Williamston. He organized, built and dedicated three additional churches while serving as a District Overseer and as a Chairman of the Ordination Committee. Rev. Breazeale also pastored Wayside Baptist Church. Sharing the Word of God was his commissioned life's purpose and his faith was justly profound. He loved people and was authentically interested in them. He had a personality as grand as his stature, and he never met a stranger. He was a visionary pastor, devoted patriot, and a fair-minded mentor and friend. His wife often declared "to know him, is to love him". Rev. Breazeale is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years, Mary "Frances" O'Neal Breazeale; three children, Cathy Eugenia Breazeale Grant and her husband, Stephen, of Simpsonville, SC, Carl Michael Breazeale of Daytona Beach, FL, and Angela Frances Breazeale of Greenville, SC; and one sister, Guynell Smith. His family has immeasurable adoration and respect for him and will miss him immensely, but will remember him for the limitless love, joy, laughter, and cheerful songs that he shared with them so unconditionally. Rev. Breazeale was preceded in death by six brothers, Author Breazeale, Dewey Breazeale, Raymond Breazeale, W.G. Breazeale, Roy Breazeale and Walter Breazeale; and four sisters, Ola Faye Johnson, Ollie Bell Breazeale, Wendell Nix, and Dorothy Garrison. Obituary Preview: Robert Riley Smith, 70, died on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 in Fountain Inn, SC. He was born in Albany, Georgia to Henry and Orelle Riley Smith. He graduated from Albany High School in 1968 and the University of Georgia in 1972. He practiced Accounting for 47 years, starting his own firm in 1986. Bobby's clients were very important to him. He really enjoyed working with them throughout the years. Bobby was a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs and served as President of the Albany chapter. Bobby enjoyed serving his community as well. He served as President of the Albany Humane Society Board, Treasurer of the Albany Symphony Board and Treasurer of the Kiwanis Club. Bobby also served on the Board of the March of Dimes. While living in Valdosta, he was a member of the Rotary Club. Bobby was a charter member of Porterfield United Methodist Church. While being a member, he served on the Administrative Board. Before moving to South Carolina, Bobby and his wife, Laura were very active in St. Patrick's Episcopal Church. Bobby served on the Vestry and as Senior Warden, the Investment Committee, and the Finance Committee. At the time of his death, he was a member of Simpsonville United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Laura, son, Riley (Jackie) of Savannah, GA, and son, Hudson (Lauren) of Greenville, SC. His five grandchildren are Louisa, Hattie, James, Paul, and Everett Smith. Surviving also are his twin sister, Becky Hayes (Bob) of Albany, GA; his brother, Alan Smith (Susan) of Mableton, GA; and Clinton Smith (Madelyn) of Richmond, VA. A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 1, 2021 at 3:30 p.m. in the Southeast Chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes. Obituary Preview: Stephen Wesley Hall, 43, of Simpsonville, SC, went to his heavenly home on Sunday, April 25, 2021 due to complications from a 32-year long battle with Type 1 Diabetes. Born in Greenville, he was the son of Danny and Dale Hall. He was a graduate of Mauldin High School and the University of South Carolina Upstate, where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. He worked as a sales representative for home restoration services. Stephen was also a long time member of Mauldin First Baptist Church. Always a great athlete, Stephen played football, baseball, and basketball from the time that he was old enough to participate all the way through high school, and he continued his love of sports throughout his life. In recent years, he enjoyed cheering on his nephew and nieces in all of their own athletic events, playing a game of pool or a competitive cornhole match, and watching any sporting event that happened to be on TV. He also loved spending time outdoors - particularly at the lake or the beach. Some of his favorite memories were of time spent with family on the water. He loved to have fun and find the joy in life, and he always enjoyed telling a good long story. He had a tremendous love for family and cherished the times that he spent with them. He was always a loving and devoted son, brother, uncle, and grandson. Family came first for Stephen, and he will be missed beyond words. In addition to his parents, Stephen is survived by his sister, Marsha Huebner, and her husband, Andy Huebner; nephew, Drew Huebner; two nieces, Meghan and Carley Huebner, all of Simpsonville; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Luther and Mary Hall, and Cleo and Aletha Roberts, all of Greenville. Doug Owens - September 10, 1956 - April 21, 2021

Obituary Preview: Doug Owens, 64, husband of Beth Skatell Owens, passed away on Wednesday, April 21, 2021 following a long battle with Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD).
Born in Richmond, VA, he was the son of Jack and Barbara Leonardo Owens, of Lake Wateree. Doug was a 1978 graduate of Wofford College, where he lettered in baseball.  Doug was a loving father with a gentle spirit and always found a way to make everyone laugh. He was a hands-on dad to his three children and was at every game, recital, and event. He was loved so much by his children and played such a big part in who they are today.
Doug and Beth opened the Skatell's Jewelers in Spartanburg twenty-five years ago. They worked side by side for most of their marriage, giving them an extra special bond and time together. As Doug’s disease progressed, Beth became his caregiver and voice, but still remained the love of his life. Although FTD changed his ability to express himself, his sense of humor and personality never faded.
In addition to his parents and wife, Doug is survived by his sons and grandson, Eric Owens and his wife, Ginny, of Columbia, SC, and their son, Hank Owens, and Tyler Owens and his wife, Kenson, of Atlanta, GA; and one daughter, Elizabeth Ledford and her husband, Brad, of Greenville. Also left behind is his brother, David Owens, and his family of Rock Hill, as well as the Skatell family members, which were much more than just in-laws.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast. Beth and family will greet guests following the service.

Alvin Joseph Hotz, Jr. was a civil engineer, real estate entrepreneur, veteran, meteorologist, traveler and beloved husband, father, uncle, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Born on April 1, 1932 in Los Angeles, California.  He was the son of the late Alvin J. and Lillian Hotz, Sr.
Al passed away on April 21, 2021 at the age of 89 in Greenville, South Carolina.   Al was a long-time member of St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.  He is survived by daughter, Kathy Kramer and her husband, Jack; grandchildren, Mark and Jenny Kramer, Scott and Mary Hunter Kramer, Anne and David Gordon, Kim and Joey Edeli, Karly and Mark Yaschick, John Kramer, Hilary and J.D. Foss, Casey Doherty, Emily and Dick Doherty Mckibbin, and Mary Kramer; great-grandchildren, Dodson, Eliza Jane, Hunter, Emma Grace, Avi, Shoshana, Nechama, Estee, Gracie, Goldie, and Gus.
In addition to Al's wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Karen Hotz.
A graduate of the Villanova Preparatory School in Ojai, California, Al grew up surrounded by animals, including chickens, goats, and horses, which he often rode into town. His love of animals even drove him to work at a veterinary clinic when he was young. Al earned a Bachelor of Science and Engineering degree from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. After marrying the love of his life, Gloria Panza, in 1953, Al earned a Bachelor of Science in Meteorology degree from Penn State while serving in the United States Air Force as a Lieutenant. He spent one year in South Korea as a meteorologist for the Air Force.
Al was a true visionary. He created and ran a successful civil engineering business for 25 years and obtained engineering licenses in California, Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, Utah, and New Mexico, where his work took him. After selling his civil engineering business, Al moved to Greenville, South Carolina to expand his thriving real estate business in which he owned and managed many properties, from shopping centers and apartment buildings to medical centers.
A disciplined worker who was very community-minded, Al also served on many professional organizations, including the California National Society of Engineers, California President of Consulting Engineers and Land Surveyors, and was the Director of the Los Angeles Chapter of Civil Engineers and Land Surveyors, as well as President for several terms of the California Westlake Chapter of the Rotary Club, of which he was the recipient of several Paul Harris Fellow Awards.
Al’s 66 years of marriage to his cherished wife Gloria, who passed away in 2019, was blessed by the birth of his two daughters, Karen and Kathy. Among his many passions was Al’s love of travel alongside Gloria. Together they extensively explored the United States and Canada, mostly in their various state of the art motorhomes. Al also enjoyed spending time in nature, boating, water skiing, playing ping pong, building, and creating - but most of all, he loved spending time with Gloria and his beautiful family.
Al will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
The Recitation of the Rosary will be held Sunday, April 25, 2021 at  6:00 PM at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, April 26, 2021 at 10:00 AM at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church. Burial will be in Graceland East Memorial Park. All attendees are strongly encouraged to wear masks and follow CDC guidelines on social distancing.

In addition to his wife of 40 years, Joel is survived by his son, Benn Wagman and his wife, Amber; and two granddaughters, Grace and Scarlett Wagman. Joel was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his step-mother, Kathryn Naylor. The funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday, April 23, 2021 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church followed by burial at 3:00 p.m. in the M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veteran's Cemetery.

Jeff was born in Miami, Florida to John William Kirwin "Chief" and Marilyn Anderson Kirwin. He is survived by his son, Jonathan Andrew Kirwin; his son's mother, Sherry DuBose; his brother, John Hollis Kirwin and wife, Jo; his nephew, Kyle Kirwin; and his niece, Kristin Jenkins and husband, Keith.
Jeff had a rewarding football career at Western Carolina University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree. Throughout his life, he continued to be a proud supporter of the Catamounts and enjoyed lifelong friendships with many of his teammates.
After 40 years of service, Jeff retired from his very successful career as a sales manager with BellSouth (AT&T). He loved to lead meetings with a humorous anecdote and will always be remembered for his storytelling.
Jeff was a caring brother, a loyal and dependable friend, and a thoughtful and loving father to his son. He was happiest when he was spending time with Jonathan either fishing, golfing, playing the guitar, or enjoying one of their daily conversations, and he never missed a holiday, birthday party, piano recital, or sporting event.
Jeff will be remembered for his outgoing personality, his dedication to his family, friends, and career and his undying love for his son. He was dearly loved and will be deeply missed.
A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, May  1, 2021 at 1:30 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast.

Obituary Preview: Jo Ellen Rouda O'Shields, 88, wife of Rev. Dr. Alvin B. O'Shields, went to be with the Lord on Monday, April 12, 2021. Born in Greenville, SC on September 4,1932, she was the daughter of the late Remus H. and Edna Bridges Rouda. Jo Ellen graduated from Welcome High School and went on to earn her Associates Degree in Secretarial Science from North Greenville University. She was very active on campus as she sang in the College Choir as well as the Ladies Ensemble, and served as a BSU officer. Once married, Jo Ellen served in many areas of ministry with her pastor husband. She taught Sunday School, worked with youth, and was involved in the music ministry. She also was a substitute teacher in several schools in the North Carolina School System. After the couple moved to Columbia, SC, Jo Ellen went to work as Administrative Secretary at the South Carolina Baptist Convention and was there 11 ½ years. She was a conference leader at White Oak Conference Center and in various churches. Following Alvin's acceptance of the position as Director of Missions in Spartanburg, she began working at Fernwood Baptist Church as Administrative Secretary where she retired after 15 years. Most recently, she was a member of Roebuck Baptist Church and the Dorcas Sunday School Class where she also served as assistant teacher. In addition to her husband of 67 years, she is survived by her two wonderful children, Dale A. O'Shields (Terry) of Gaithersburg, MD, and Debbie O. Goodson (Keith) of Greenville, SC; three grandchildren, Christi Rivera (Steve) of Gaithersburg, MD, Jessica McAuliff (Justin) of Clarksburg, MD, and Joshua Goodson of Godwin, NC; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Marian Garrett and Georgia Kerns. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 16th at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Southeast. He had hopes to become a YouTuber after graduation, he wanted to discuss video game knowledge, his love for all animals, and of course Legos. He planned on featuring his large collection in all of his videos. Trent also had hopes to change the world's outlook on individuals who were handicapped or had disabilities by raising public awareness of needs in the community. Trent was shy and did not talk a lot, but when he did speak out he always had something interesting to say or random facts about. He is survived by his parents Paul F. Tomco and Michelle Thewes-Tomco, siblings Paul Ty Tomco(Nina Cervana), Tia Tomco Kilby(Jonathan), Taryn Emma Tomco and preceded in death by sibling Trystan Tomco (22 y/o), Grandparents Alice and Frank Tomco, and Ingeborg and Robert Thewes. The family will receive guests on Thursday April 15th, 2021 from 4pm-8pm, at 101 Red Bluff Road Simpsonville, SC 29681. In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his sons, Travis Scott and his wife, Tabatha, and Tyler Scott and his wife, Jaime; three grandchildren, Sawyer, Sadie, and Emersyn; step daughter, Nicole Trosclair; and two step grandchildren, Drake and Dillon.
He was preceded in death by his step son, Dylan Bonck.
A visitation will be held on Friday, April 9, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:45 p.m. at Conestee Church of God of Prophecy followed by the funeral service at 3:00 p.m. Burial will be in Cannon Memorial Park.
