Obituary Preview: Albert F Candito (AL) was born on January 27th 1931. He was a long time Stamford resident and passed away peacefully in his home May 13, 2024. After ninth grade Al went to work with his father before joining the U.S. Navy at the age of 17. After serving his country he returned to Stamford where he met the love of his life Catherine (Kay). Soon after they married and started a family. They led a full happy life together raising 4 sons and traveling all over the country. Al was a dedicated family man never missing any sporting event played by his sons or grandkids. Albert loved going to the beach and playing golf. He was club champion one year and even shooting a hole in one on the third hole at Hubbard Heights. Al was an avid sports fan rooting hard for the Yankees, Giants, Knick’s and UConn Basketball, especially the woman’s team. Al drove a tractor trailer for Arnold Bakery for 32 years retiring in 1993. He enjoyed a long retirement spending most winters at his condo with his wife in Davie, Fla. Al is predeceased by his wife Kay, son Albert Jr., his parents and 6 siblings. Leaving behind two surviving sisters, 3 sons Vito (Suzi) of Norwalk, Mickey (Debbie) of Boynton Beach Fla, Peter (Debbie) of Stamford, 6 grandchildren Michele (Gary) Claps, Peter and Crystal Candito, Christina (Tim) Reiger, Christopher and Michael Candito, 8 Great Grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be on Wednesday, May 22, 2024 from 10:00 am - 11:30 am at Archangels Greek Orthodox Church 1527 Bedford Street, Stamford. Obituary Preview: Ralph Freydberg passed away peacefully on May 12, 2024 after a long battle with vascular dementia, devastating the many people who loved him. He was 86. Ralph was born on May 9, 1938 in New York City to Ralph and Florence (Baumgold) Freydberg. He was predeceased by his parents and sister Ann, and is survived by his beloved family: wife Susan, daughter Joan and grandchildren Jessica and David, and his son Ron and grandchildren Jason and Lauren. He also leaves behind beloved cousins, in laws, nieces and nephews and friends. Ralph had a 40 plus year career in the financial services industry. In his office you could always find pictures of his life long best friend Floyd, gifts from his grandchildren, and treasured golf memorabilia. He was also a past president of Fairview Country Club. Ralph was hilarious, would tell the best jokes and was more than a tad mischievous. He wanted to be remembered for his huge personality and to be roasted at his funeral. Even as dementia took most of his functions, he never lost his jolly personality, his big smile or the twinkle in his eyes. He found joy in the little things and rarely had a bad mood, let alone a bad day. He loved his family most of all and was everyone’s go-to because he was such a great listener, was so smart and always gave the best advice. Ralph rarely found a meat or a dessert he didn’t like (and he met very few vegetables that he did). He was an avid barbecuer, even in the middle of winter or during a downpour. He prided himself on cooking the world’s greatest steak that would rival Peter Luger’s. He always loved to share his joys. Even the dogs knew this about him; they knew exactly whose chair to sit near at dinner time, as Ralph was sure to slip them some of his food so that they could enjoy it too. He played football in high school and loved talking about his summers at Camp Androscoggin. His hole-in-one was a source of pride for him. No candy store was off limits for him. He also never met a color that wasn’t worth pairing with his favorite color, bright orange. He never found a time that wasn’t appropriate to add some bathroom humor. He was famous for getting a haircut every three weeks, no more and no less, and for tipping his barber almost as much as the haircut cost. His family loved being embarrassed by him practicing his golf swings in elevators.Ralph adored his dog Jake and grand-dog Waffles. We know his grand-dogs Max and Gracie welcomed him to his final resting place with a big, juicy steak.Services were private. To honor Ralph, you may donate to the Alzheimer’s Association, your local non profit hospice, or go to lots of general stores, and buy way too much candy.

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Robert and Helen Walsh, Bob spent his boyhood in the Stratfield section of Fairfield where he became renowned for organizing neighborhood activities like weekend camping bicycle trips to Long Island (they took the ferry across and back), and multi-day marathon bicycle races around neighborhood streets. He is well-remembered, for example, as a founder of the annual Fourth of July parade around The Circle on Sachem’s Head in Guilford, Conn. A true one-of-a-kind guy, Bob was a graduate of Fairfield Prep where he played varsity football. After graduation, Bob was drafted into the U.S. Army, serving in the Army of Occupation in Japan. On returning home, he enrolled at the recently-formed Fairfield University where he was a member of the first graduating class. Robert Roy Walsh, age 96, beloved husband of the late Marylou Hayes Walsh, died Thursday, April 4 at Connecticut Hospice in Branford.

Born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, to the late Robert and Helen Walsh, Bob spent his boyhood in the Stratfield section of Fairfield where he became renowned for organizing neighborhood activities like weekend camping bicycle trips to Long Island (they took the ferry across and back), and multi-day marathon bicycle races around neighborhood streets. Look for him in his white shirt and knickers standing near second base when Lou Gehrig is umpiring a kids game. In LA he and his father Paul got to see Jackie Robinson play halfback for UCLA at the Coliseum.Dad pitched for Blessed Sacrament’s baseball team before graduating and going to Notre Dame. He earned a bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and got a National Science Foundation Scholarship to complete his Master’s at Notre Dame. He loved his time at Notre Dame and began a life long passion for Fighting Irish football. Notre Dame games were always highlighted on his calendar.After college Dad worked for RCA before beginning a 31 year career at IBM. He was proud of being a Quarter Century Club IBMer and greatly enjoyed the chance to travel to Japan, Europe and South America in his roles. He was thrilled when his granddaughter Erin became an IBMer three years ago.Dad met Joanne Terrence at a dance in Manhattan and fell in love and knew right away she was the person he wanted to share the rest of his life with. They were married in Brooklyn in 1961 and did everything together for 55 years. They shared a love for their Irish heritage and had great times sharing trips to Ireland, attending the St. Patrick’s Day Parade in New York City and singing Irish songs with their friends at ‘Irish Eyes’ restaurant in Westchester. He loved her dearly and was always happiest being with Mom. When his sense of humor got him in trouble that was known as an ‘Oh, Bob’ in our house because that was the immediate reaction he got from Mom.Mom and Dad enjoyed going to Cape Cod in the summer to visit Bob’s sister Mary and his nieces Cathy and Beth and nephew Robert and their families. They adored walking on the beach at the Cape. Mom and Dad treasured visiting Nashville to visit James and their grandson Tyler.Dad and Mom raised Eileen, Michael and James in Hartsdale and Armonk, NY. No Dad ever took his kids to more Met and Yankee doubleheaders and Giant games, coached more youth sports teams (including James’ Armonk Little League championship!) or hit more fly balls to his kids than ours did (this will surprise Mike’s high school friends who have seen him try to judge a fly ball). He always had time for his family and loved his children.Dad loved his daughter in law Sandra and was grateful for her love and support the last few years with doctor and hospital visits.After Dad retired, he dedicated his time to volunteering. He and Mom ran food drives at Church and the A&P for the food pantry in Mt. Pleasant. At Church he led collections of baby furniture for single Mom’s who were leaving the women’s prison in Bedford. He was proud of the clothing drives he ran at Sacred Heart when we lived in Hartsdale. He enjoyed serving as a lector and being on the Parish Council at St. Patrick’s in Armonk.Dad loved his grandchildren Tyler, Erin and Lauren. He spoke frequently about how much he enjoyed taking each of them to parks in Armonk when they were little.
