He spent the majority of his live serving people and expecting nothing in return.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Edward James Blake, Sr.; brothers, Edward James Blake, Jr, Robert Blake, and Quintin Blake; sister, Dorthy Blake.

He leaves to cherish his memory his wife, LeeAnna Jane Blake; five children, Alycia (15), Destiny (14), Ayden Michael (13), Dayton (10), and Allayna Jane (2); sister, Schantiel Lark; four brothers, Aaron C. He enjoyed being with family, attending church activities, fellowship, animals and being in the middle of new technology. He was a tall and handsome guy who enjoyed dressing sharp, he was just cool.

On Thursday, May 9, 2024 Lawrence transitioned from this life to be in the presence of the Lord. He was also preceded in death by; daughter, Melinda Beasley; sister, Lucille Ellison; brother, Frank Beasley, Sr. and nephew, Charles Ellison.

Arthur was a devoted Husband to Denise Burns and Father to Dyonne Burns, Ashleigh Burns-Smith, and Marquis Burns. He was a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. Art worked proudly and tirelessly in various roles during his long tenure at Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio with his career spanning over three decades. Art was the definition of a servant-leader and spent much of his spare time serving as a Trustee at Mt. Enon Missionary Baptist Church as well as many other respected and critical roles within his church community-always answering the call when needed. He also enjoyed spending quality time with his family whether it be traveling, curating family events that involved a competitive game of cornhole, or passionately sharing about Bible teachings. Art was also an avid sports fan-especially enjoying football and basketball.

Art transitioned to heaven May 3, 2024. He was preceded in death by his loving parents Morris and Stella Burns, Sisters Clara Boone and Connie Louise Hill, Brothers Robert and Morris Burns, and Special Friend Demetrius Rush.

Art leaves to cherish his memory his loving Wife Denise (DeeDee) Burns, Children Dyonne A. Burns, Ashleigh Burns-Smith (Evan), and Marquis A. Burns. Brothers Walter (Butch) Troxler (Karen), and Cecil L. Burns (Cheryl). Sisters-In-Laws Delores Burns, Anita Jean, and Shelisa A. O'Conner and Brother-In-Law Dana West. Grandchildren Adan, Addison, and Martrell, Marquis Jr, and Major. Aunt Dockie and an abundance of nieces and nephews whom he adored.

This was followed by him earning a Juris Doctorate from Antioch School of Law in Washington D.C. in 1978, which led to a lifelong passion for public advocacy.

For 14 years, Glasper served with distinction as an Assistant Prosecuting Attorney for the Montgomery County Prosecutor’s Office in Dayton, OH. He went on to retire from the Montgomery County Child Support Enforcement Agency. He was a fan of the Cleveland Browns, an avid reader, and closely followed politics and current events. He was a steady presence celebrating family milestones and accomplishments.

Obituary Preview: Annie Mae (McGowan) Lewis Cowherd, also known as Grandma and “GiGi”, entered eternal rest on Monday, April 22, 2024 at age 82, twenty days prior to her 83rd birthday. She was born in Carthage Mississippi to the late Levi McGowan and Ella Mae (Galloway) Jones. Annie accepted Christ at a young age and attended Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church in Carthage Mississippi.

Annie and her family moved to Dayton Ohio in 1964 where she attended other churches until she joined Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church in 1986 and has been a faithful member, serving in the Missionary Department, leader of the Deborah Circle, greeted people as an usher and floor manager, President of the Golden Agers where she also song in the choir “I know a Man from Galilee”. She also cooked for Pastor’s Anniversary and Church Anniversary; she worked on many programs too numerous to name. Annie loved Church Worship Services and when she was unable to attend, she watched it on YouTube or listened to WDAO.

Annie was preceded in death by her parents and her stepfather Fred Jones; sisters: Beatrice, Mabel and Pearlie; brothers: Fred Jr., Albert and Pleas; husband: Joseph Cowherd; sons: Johnny, Ricky and Norman Sr. and devoted friend: Louise Dozier. Her memories will forever be cherished by her sisters: Edna Jackson and Linnie Davis; daughters: Annette Hayes, Kattie (Randy) Wakefield; sons: James (Shirley) Lewis and Christopher J. Lewis. Grandchildren: Christina Marie, Tyesha (Chance), Kenny, Norman Jr., Richard, Christina Donna, Christopher Victor, Christal and Christian; Great grandchildren: Teiloni, Theodore, Madison, JZ and Malachi; extended family: the Griffins, East St. Louis Illinois; devoted friends: Betty Betts and Ann Jones; Zion Hill church family; and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and cousins too numerous to list. She added to the family two sons: Brother Thomas (Fish) Fisher and Minister Larry Harrison whom she called “Mississippi”.

Annie never met a stranger. She was personable and outgoing. When she was able she walked every day, did water aerobics, line dancing and gardening; she loved her flowers. Annie “Mom” will be missed.
