Obituary Preview: Kristine Renee’ Nolan, born in Lansdale Pennsylvania, died at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Reading, PA at the age of 56 on June 12,2023.  She wassurrounded by loved ones following a long battle with colon cancer. Kristine was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia Marie Nolan (Young), and survived by her father James M. Nolan (Janice) (Perkiomenville, PA), sisters: Kimberly Aish (Atlanta, GA), Dana Ryman (Daniel) (Rapid City, SD); Bonnie McAlister (Greg) (Little Rock, AR); her nieces and nephews: Nicole Baldwin (Anthony), Amanda Cullison (James), Donte’ Burns(Jasmine) and great nieces and nephews:  Lia Baldwin, Michael Baldwin,  Kaiden Burns, Sage Burns, Tucker Cullison and Ellis Cullison; as well as many other extended family members and her “best girlfriend Dana Friend.”
Kristine spent her life enjoying her great love of collecting rocks, stuffed animals and pocket books, as well as drawing and listening to music.  She took great pride in and dearly loved her family and friends.  Her kind nature and loving spirit was felt by all that took the time to know and understand her.  Her love of life was demonstrated by her unfathomable strength and resilience.  Kristine battled lifelong challenges, physically and mentally; always with a kind spirit, a smile and saying “I’m doing good” no matter how severe the physical and/or emotional pain.  She never complained – plowing through whatever the challenge as if it was just another day.  She astounded healthcare workers and clergy repeatedly, never asking “why me”, giving in or giving up. She was truly a beautiful person and will be forever missed.
A private service with immediate family will be held at her fathers’ farm, date TBD.  The family sincerely thanks each of you that supported Kris through this long illness with the many prayers, your time (visits and/or video calls), decorating her rooms and gifts of comfort.  The love, kindness and companionship meant the world to her. We also express our gratitude to the wonderful medical and administrative staff at Spruce Manor Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Compassus Hospice Care and St. Joseph’s Hospital.  If anyone would like to make a donation in Kris’s memory, please consider the National Mental Health Foundation.

Born 3/5/47 in Bartlesville Oklahoma she was the Daughter of the late Robert and Virginia Callahan Pre deceased by life partner Donna J Wilson Surviving daughter Tammie (Callahan) Delp of Shillington, Sister Roberta Porter of Halstead Kansas and brother Thomas Callahan of Newton Kansas Also surviving granddaughter Amanda (Delp) Price of Mohnton, grandson Randall Delp of West Lawn, and granddaughter Elizabeth Delp of Shillington and 7 great grandchildren Audrey, Vander, Lydia, Dalton, Athena, Teagan and Asher. Yvonne better known as Mommom or GG to her family and Callie to her friends was a beautiful soul with a big heart. She was a very hard worker finally retiring at the age of 72. She was an avid Wizard of Oz fan and collector of endless memorabilia. She was a dedicated and loving mother to her only child Tammie. She loved her family with a passion as any matriarch would. She will leave a big hole in this world but has been reunited with her partner and finally at peace over the rainbow.  She was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Obituary Preview: James W. Wetzler, 87, of White Oak, PA passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family on March 10, 2023, at The Manor at Market Square, in Reading, PA.  Jim was born on September 23, 1935, in McKeesport PA and predeceased by his parents George N. and Hilda B. Wetzler, brother Don Wetzler and sister Joanne Milburn.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Linda Anderson Wetzler, son James W (Karen) Wetzler Jr. of Canandaigua NY, daughters, Sue W Seanor of Exeter, PA, Libby Patterson (Bill) of Victor NY and sister Margaret Troutman of Hermanie, PA.
Jim is also survived by four grandchildren; Courtney (Jay) Freudenberg, Greg (Kayla) Seanor, Adam Seanor, and William W (Kelli) Patterson; and the recent light of Jim and Linda’s life, a great grandson, Theodore Seanor.
Jim was employed for 42 years by the former Bell Telephone Company, retiring in 1995. He was a past president and active member of the Bell Telephone Pioneers until he retired. He was also a member of Masonic Lodge 583 F&AM, and a Life Member of the McKeesport, PA Gun Club.
Church was an important part of Jim’s life. Jim was a pastmember and Trustee of First United Methodist Church of McKeesport, PA and later a current and very active member of Linway Presbyterian Church in East McKeesport, PA. He participated in manychurch committees and was always there to lend a listening ear or a well thought out suggestion.
He always took the time to help others and instilled this into his children. A hard worker his entire life, Jim led by example for his family and all those around him. He never shied away from doing the right thing.
An avid outdoorsman, Jim was always the first one up in Deer Camp, loving every minute being with ‘the boys’ in the woods hunting or for any other endeavor he participated in. Jim had a reputation of being a first-class storyteller and was always counted on for intriguing and humorous stories about life.
Jim’s other passions were tinkering in his beautiful garden, working on his showcase lawn,and fixing just about anything. He was so proud to live on the “Hill” in White Oak, PA.
If his family was his first love, the family cabin in McKean County, PA was his second. He so loved to spend time in the mountains, and always made sure you left as a friend.
Jim was a proud Cancer survivor and rang the bell in August 2020 at the Hillman Cancer Center in Shadyside, PA after an almost five year battle.
The family passes on their special thanks to the staff at The Manor at Market Square and AseraCare Home Hospice for their kind and special care provided to Jim.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, March 24th at 2 pm at the Pottstown Presbyterian Church located at 750 North Evans Street, Pottstown, PA  19464.

Obituary Preview: William Elder, of Wernersville, passed away on March 8, 2023 at home.
He Born on September 3, 1944 to Margaret (Sherry) and Blaine Elder Knox, PA.  After Bill graduated from Knox High School in 1962, he want on to attend Pennsylvania State University.
Bill dedicated his career to the service of youth and juveniles. He began at Youth Forestry Camp #3 where he started as a counselor and became Director.  After 25 years, he moved to the Office of Specialist.
In 1967, Bill married Catherine Sharer and they had two children, Todd and Heather.
In 2004, Bill retired and spent his time, reading, fishing, singing with the Pretzel City Chorus and enjoyed time with his family.
He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, Richard.  He is survived by his children, Todd (Dawn) Elder and Heather (John) McCracken; grandchildren, Breckenridge Elder, Gabriella McCracken and Ava McCracken; sister Suzanne (Joseph) Seem; Niece and Nephews, Joyce Elder, Steven (Lissa) Seem and Richard Elder.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at a later date.

John A. Mirabella, Jr. - June 30, 1962 - February 22, 2023

Obituary Preview: John A. Mirabella Jr of Reading. He was 60 years old went on his trip to the other side from cancer on 2/22/23. He was the son of John Mirabella Sr. and Jane Mirabella-Czarnecki, (both predeceased) He has two Sisters, Tina Mirabella snd Maryann Holt-Wertz, Stepdaughter Crystal Tena and two grandson"s Eddie Tena and Rene" Nieto. He also had a long term companion Diane Zieger (predeceased), And our Doggie Jovi who he walked no matter what twice a day till he couldn't anymore.
John was the nicest guy you would want to know, he had a heart of gold. He loved Nascar and the N.Y. Giants and Motley Crue. I would also like to mention his good friend Mack Robinson who made his special healthy smoothies for John which gave him the nutrition he needed when he could no longer eat and helped alot. Also Lori the hospice nurse who always tried to make him laugh and is a great person to have around. He was a son, a brother, cousin, uncle and friend. You will be forever missed and loved, your family and friends.

Obituary Preview: Janet Ann (Mohn) Buch 89, passed away peacefully in her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday February 12, 2023. She was a loving mother, Mom-mom, and Friend. Daughter of the lateChester L. Mohnand Helen A. (Wojszwillo) Mohn
She had a great heart and cared for people, especially those that shared her love for bingo.  She was known by many as Bingo Janet or Mom-mom.  Her favorite number was B3 and often said she would play bingo “8” days a week if she could. She also loved her trips to the casino to play the nickel slots.
Janet was born and raised in Southeast Reading PA. Her and her ex-husband, Ronald R. Buch moved the family to Exeter PA where she resided for the remainder of her life. Throughout the years she held many different jobs, such as a seamer, a looper and a mig welder.  She last worked as a bartender at the former Nutsy’s bar on Rt. 61 in Reading.  Mom-mom also spent many years babysitting for families, that were in need.  In the 1970’sshe was known as “The Goodie Lady” for the Exeter Mite/Midget football program.
She was predeceased by sisters Theresa Smith, Patricia Freimann, and Helen Eddinger. And by her daughter Bonnie A. Hafer and son-in-law Terry Hafer.
Janet is survived by brothers Robert Mohn and Chester Mohn , and her three loving children Rickie R. Buch, husband of Debra Buch, Tina A. Werts, wife of Raymond E. Werts Jr. and Stacie A. Buch-Courtesis, fiance’ of Dominic J. Deshields.
Mom-mom is survived by eight grandchildren Rhonda Jones, Laura Buch, Rickie Buch Jr., Hillary Strawhacker, Tiffany Ollar, Brittney Dulis, Bailey Courtesis and Brody Courtesis.
She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren Trinity, Ashley, Sebastian, Lenyx, Ella, Cheyenne, Cody, Charlee, Colt and Jayla.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023 from 5pm-9pm at the Shelbourne Bingo Hall (5474 Perkiomen Ave., Reading, PA 19606).

Obituary Preview: James (Jim) Alexander Smith of Reading, PA, peacefully flew from the confines of this earth, surrounded by his family at home, on January 29th, 2023. He was 40 years old. Jim was born in Hershey, PA on December 23rd, 1982, the son of James Smith and the late Teresa M. Pflum. He was raised in Reading, PA, graduating from Holy Name High School in 2001. He also lived in Tulsa, OK for several years before returning to Reading in 2017.
Jim served as a chef in many restaurants over the course of his adult years. He also used his musical talents as a guitarist in the band, Latch Key. He had a passion for music, with his favorite artist being Rush. His favorite song was Free Will. Jim treasured his time in the kitchen, especially when cooking with his son, Leander. He loved movies and long car rides, with or without a definite destination.
Most of all, Jim deeply loved his son, his family, his best fur-friend, a ShibaInu named Sune, and animals of all kinds.
Those grieving Jim’s passing are his son, Leander Agena; his former wife, Jessica Potts (mother of Leander); his sister, Erica Rivera, wife of Nelson (Mikey) Ramos-Paneto; his brother, Luis R. Rivera, Jr.; his maternal grandmother, Nancy Pflum; his great-aunt, Margaret Pflum, four nephews, and three nieces, along with many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Along with his mother, Jim was predeceased by his stepfather, Luis R. Rivera, Sr.; and his life partner, Michael P. Tersigni.
Jim will be infinitely missed by the family and friends he leaves behind. His contagious smile and loving heart will remain with us, along with the wonderful, loving memories that reside in our hearts. Fly free, Jim. Your earthly battle is over. Embrace the peace that surrounds you.

Gene R. Fisher - Unknown - December 15, 2022

Obituary Preview: Gene R Fisher, a long-time resident of Rehrersburg PA, passed away peacefully at home, on December 15, 2022 at the age of 86, succumbing to a battle with cancer.
He was born on September 21, 1936 to Calvin R. Fisher and Edna Mae Weidner Fisher. He grew up in Bethel PA and graduated from Bethel High, class of 1954, where he played basketball and baseball. Playing sports always brought him a lot of joy.
He is survived by his very close sister, Sandra (Ray) Keeney of Bethel PA.  After graduating from high school, Gene spent time in the US Navy. Returning home, he secured employment as a Tool and Die technician, starting at the Berkshire Textile Knitting Mills in 1959 as a machinist. This later became known as Rockwell International, which he retired from after 39 years in 1998.
He married his wife Anna Mae Bashore on June 7, 1959, together they had 4 children: Cindy (Jeff) Bollinger, Randy (Wendy) Fisher, Steve (Sandy) Fisher and Darlene (Frank) Deesing. Gene enjoyed the company of his family and being grandpa to 9 grandchildren and 7 great- grandchildren.  An avid sportsman, he enjoyed the outdoors, from extensive hunting and fishing to camping with a large extended family and friends every Memorial Day and Labor Day weekends. His summer vacations always included family camping at numerous PA State Parks where much of the days were spent canoeing and fishing for Largemouth Bass. Gene always was involved in  playing sports with his kids as well as all the neighbor kids too. From Little League Baseball coach to pickup basketball. After work and a homemade dinner, he often played Softball, basketball, football, and other physical activities/games into his early 50s. As children, he always made life fun for us.  He then transitioned into watching more Professional football games and picked up playing golf and had a passion to push his luck at multiple casinos, playing mostly the slots. He also enjoyed long sessions of pinnacle and other card games, playing with family and friends.
Gene’s life will be celebrated on December 28, 2022, with a memorial service at the Salem UCC church in Bethel PA, starting at 11 am and with an interment of his ashes following the service.

Carole enjoyed doing arts and crafts, listening to music, reading and spending time with her friends and family.

Cheryl also loved her pets - Zoey, Sadie, Evie and Roxie.
A private graveside service will be held on Saturday, December 10, 2022 at 10:00 a.m. at Charles Evans Cemetery, Reading.

Obituary Preview: Marlene M. Bertin, age 85 peacefully died after a long illness at Chestnut Knoll assisted living facility in Boyertown, Pennsylvania on Saturday, October 22, 2022.  Her children were at her bedside.
Born in Williamsport, Pennsylvania on April 5, 1937, to Carrie and Frederick Schaefer, Marlene spent her childhood and early adulthood there.  Marlene graduated from Williamsport High School in 1956.  Soon after graduation, she married David R. Bertin of Williamsport and they briefly resided in England during David’s Air Force tenure.   She is predeceased by her husband, as well as her sister, Naomi Sidler, and brother Frederick Schaefer, all formerly from Williamsport.
Marlene was a loving wife to David Bertin for 59 years of marriage. Surviving are her children: Katrina (Losa) Schirmacher and husband William of Clark, New Jersey,and Scott D. Bertin and wife, Julianne of Fleetwood, Pennsylvania.  Also,surviving are her four grandchildren: Victoria Losa, Nicholas Losa, Grace Bertin, and Camille Bertin whom she loved dearly.
Marlene lived most of her adult life in Ivyland, Pennsylvania where she raised her children.  She worked many years at W. Atlee Burpee Seed Company in Warminster, Pennsylvania as a data entry clerk. Her job transferred to her personal life with her love for gardening.  Marlene enjoyed traveling with her husband, maintaining an impeccable home and needlepoint.  She loved nothing more than spending time with her children and grandchildren.  She will be missed dearly.
A private Celebration of Life will be held early next year.
To make a memorial donation in Marlene’s name, the family would like donations to go to Caring Hospice Services, 400 Commerce Drive, Fort Washington, PA 19034.

Scott Allen Schwartz - Unknown - September 08, 2022

Obituary Preview: Scott Allen Schwartz, 62, of Reading, passed away Thursday, September 8, 2022, surrounded by his loved ones. Born on May 22,1960, in Reading, PA, Scott was the son of the late Nicholas and Margaret Schwartz.  As a Wyomissing High School Graduate, Scott continued his education at the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. After graduating from Berklee, Scott began his career as a Music Teacher and Choir Director at First Baptist Church of Reading.
Scott was the Middle School Choir Director at Governor Mifflin Middle School in Shillington, PA, from 1988-2008. Scott was the proud director of the 7th and 8th Grade Choirs and Show Choir.  His passion for teaching and helping students to succeed was evident from the moment you met him. Scott worked tirelessly to share his love of music with thousands of students throughout his twenty-year tenure.  He always beamed with pride as his students shared their gift of music with their families and the community.
In 2008, Scott became the Associate Principal at Governor Mifflin Middle School until his retirement.  During his retirement, Scott became a hobbyist with interests in gardening and woodworking. Scott enjoyed spending time with his family, playing board games, and performing magic tricks for a captive audience.
Scott’s spirit will be carried on by his daughter Lauren Schwartz, of Reading, PA; daughter Alison Lentz and her husband Cody, of Linthicum, MD; sister Jackie Haas and her husband Jon; brother Henry Schwartz and his wife Jayne; and brother Ralph Schwartz.  He is also survived by two nephews, one niece, and their families. All who knew Scott will remember his vibrant spirit and cherish the wonderful memories made together.
A family visitation will be held at First Baptist Church of Reading on October 15, 2022, from 10:00am - 11:00am. A memorial service will follow the family visitation hour beginning at 11:00am.

Richard C. Hallman, Jr. - Unknown - August 11, 2022

Obituary Preview: Richard “Ricky” Charles Hallman Jr, 43 of Reading, Pennsylvania passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2022, at Penn State St. Joseph Hospital in Reading PA. Born December 14, 1978, in West Chester PA, the son of Richard Charles Hallman Sr. and Suzette (Pence) Hallman.
He Graduated from Pequea Valley High School, Class of 1997. Following that he attended ATC and became an Auto Mechanic. On February 24th 2007, Ricky would marry his high school sweetheart Kim (Powell) Hallman. Having a love of animals, Ricky would later change careers and become a Veterinary Technician.
Ricky enjoyed playing any and almost all instruments, especially Guitar and Drums. He Loved watching the Philadelphia Eagles and being with his dogs, Lana and Stuart.
He was a thoughtful, devoted man with a genuine heart. He had a wonderful sense of humor and always made everyone laugh. He was truly a loving husband and the best pet parent.
Ricky will be sorely missed by all blessed enough to have known him. Ricky’s spirit will be carried on by his beloved wife of 15 years (married) 27 years together, Kim (Powell) Hallman; Sisters Trisha Pittman, Jennifer Whiteman and Brother Kevin Hallman.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, September 11, 2022 at 1:30p. It will be held at the American Legion Hall, 35 S. Hoover Ave., New Holland PA. Obituary Preview: Kenneth R Weidenheimer Sr. peacefully passed away, surrounded by his family and good friend Rose Hessler, on June 23, 2022 in Hershey Medical Center following a short illness.
Born July 4, 1946, in Reading he was the son of the late George and Irene(Keiser) Weidenheimer.
Kenny was a retiree of Dana, he also worked several years for Reading Railroad prior, last working landscaping with his friend Vito Ninfo.
He was an accomplished bowler throughout his earlier years, loved to travel, and later in life found interest in leather working and design. He also enjoyed his time playing softball with Berks County Senior Softball League.
Kenny is survived by his son Kenny Weidenheimer husband of Carrie, Womelsdorf, his daughter Jill Schott wife of Darren, Myerstown; and three grandchildren Reiley, Dallas, and Jaycee.
A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Sunday, July 31, 2022, 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm at the Nicholas Stoltzfus Homestead, 1700 Tulpehocken Road, Wyomissing, PA 19610.
