Mitzi dearly loved her family. Despite having a massive stroke in 2014, she continued to take every opportunity to tell her family how much she loved them. Mitzi was also known for her musical talents. She was a long time singer and pianist at Salem Church of God.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Samuel Fisher; daughter Angela Hope Fisher Craighead and husband Steven of Roanoke, VA; son Eric Fisher and wife Melissa of Roanoke, VA; granddaughter Savanna Fisher; brother Ronnie Stevenson and wife, Janice of Cedar Bluff, VA; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Upon her passing, Mitzi has been joyfully reunited with her beloved grandson, Cory Craighead.

Dorothy was a 1935 graduate of Jefferson High School in Roanoke. She worked for Roanoke County for many years. She was a long-time member of Salem Baptist Church and the Be Active Live Longer (BALL) senior group. She loved working in her garden, reading, and playing bridge.
She is survived by daughters, Jacqueline Butler and husband Jim (Virginia Beach), Betty Brown (Vinton), and Kathy Hudson (Salem). She leaves behind 7 grandchildren: Bryan, Andrew, Stephen, Nick, Natalie, Ashley, and Mariah. Also, she leaves behind 6 great grandchildren and a special niece, Carol McConnell, Greensboro, NC.
The family thanks all her therapists and caregivers. We give a very special thanks to Pam Cassell and Bonnie Culkin of Salem Family Clinic for their extraordinary care over the last several years. Appreciation is also expressed to Richfield’s Joseph C. Thomas Assisted Living and the Recovery Care Center, Gentle Shepherd Hospice, and Heartland Hospice.
Arrangements will be coordinated by Sherwood Memorial Park (540-389-2171). A celebration of life memorial service will be held at a later date. Instead of flowers, contributions may be made to the Downey Scholarship Fund at Salem Baptist Church, 103 North Broad Street, Salem, VA 24153.

She returned to work as a dietary aide in local retirement centers and worked into her late 70s. Danaleen loved her family and was a devoted mother and grandmother. She was a great cook and loved family gatherings. She also loved her dogs and made them part of her family. She loved to travel and find fun new places to visit. She was always enthusiastic about helping people and would never turn anyone away. She was sweet soul and will be greatly missed.
Danaleen was preceded in death by her father & mother, Otha Daniel Grubb & Hazel Sapp Grubb Maxwell and her stepfather, Fred Maxwell of Floyd VA; and her brother Fred Thomas Grubb.
Danaleen is survived by her children: daughter, Neva Danaleen Lindamood of Roanoke; son, Edward Daniel Lindamood & wife, Sherry of Salem; 3 grandsons, Daniel Lindamood, Jacob Lindamood & Noah Lindamood, all of Salem; and one great-granddaughter, Willow Lindamood; also, two nieces Nancy & (husband) Gary Olguin, Barbara & (husband) Frank Otero, from Barstow, CA.

Surviving are five children, Billie Jean DeWoody and husband Gene; Teresa Ann Wheeley and husband Ronnie; Cynthia Aileen Conyers and fiance Chris Hedrick; Kenneth Earl Slater and wife Rita; Michael Edward Slater and wife Ava; nine grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; her brother, Emmett McFadden and her extended family, the McCurtains. She will be dearly missed by others too numerous to mention who shared many laughs and good times throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her sister; Gracie McFadden Jessup.
A graveside service will be held at 12:00PM on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at the McFadden Family Cemetery in Gladstone with Pastor Carroll Martin officiating.
