Yvonne met the love of her life, William Leon Collier, aka “Bill,” while living in Chicago with her best friend and cousin, Cleo Jones. She was introduced to William by the local mailman; it was love at first sight, and their union began. In their marriage, they raised 5 children, Mark, Guy, Lloyd, Kim, and Kurt.

With the untimely death of her husband, William, when their two youngest were just seven months, Yvonne was faced with raising her five young children independently. Still, if anyone knew Yvonne, they knew she did not shy away from any challenge. Yvonne was dedicated to her children, giving them a robust and disciplined foundation, excellent education, and unconditional love. She instilled a sense of independence and the love of the Lord.

Yvonne was an avid reader and educator; she became a Montessori teacher at Ancona school, where she taught for five years. Later she joined Waddell and Reed as a financial planner before retiring at age 70.

Yvonne loved socializing with friends and family; she especially loved going to plays at the Court Theater in Hyde Park with her good friends, Irene Howard, and Dorothy Downey. She found time every day to meditate, loved her classical music, the Chicago Bears (Bear Down), writing poetry and reading various books that stimulated her mind. She loved her family dearly and spent time with her grandchildren, reading them her favorite classic children’s books.

Yvonne was never one to shy away from a great conversation; she indeed had the gift of gab. She could effortlessly talk with a stranger on the street and make them her friend. Yvonne was intelligent with a kind and easy temperament.

Yvonne was preceded in death by her Mother- Marie Wilson, her Father – Wallace Olivier, Husband – William Collier; Brothers – Andrew Olivier, Bernard Olivier, Wallace Olivier, Stanley Oliver; Sisters – Marie Tolbert, Pauline Vernon, Patricia Olivier, Joyce Jefferson, Jeanine Olivier.

Yvonne leaves to cherish her loving memory now and forever; her Sons- Mark Collier (Daneen), Guy Collier (D’onna), Lloyd Collier (Debbie), and Kurt Collier (Dawn). Daughter- Kim Collier. Daughter-in-love- Kellie Griffin. Sister – Frances Bryant. Grandchildren – Brandon Collier, Jeremiah Collier, Cameron Collier, Sydney Collier, Klarke Collier Vaughn, and Jacob Collier.
