She was proceeded in death by her parents Maria Reschman and Samuel McDonald, husband - Ernest Jaso, son - Ernest Jaso Jr., and sister - Betty Jo Martinez. She was born in Brackettville, Texas on October 5, 1935, and was a native of Brackettville. At the time of her passing she was 88 years old.
Mary Jane had met and fell in love with her high school sweetheart, Ernest, they had eloped and married on September 13, 1955. Those left to cherish her memory are her children: Joe Henry Jaso (Yadhira Yazmin Rodriguez), Juanita Ann Lunderville (Robert Lunderville), Victoria Walters (Curtis Walters), and Richard Jaso (Maria Wilson). 10 Grandchildren: Angel Jaso (Lori Jaso), Angie Flores, Jessica Routt (Charles Routt), Joe Henry Jaso Jr. (Jenny Henry), Cynthia Clementz (Trevor Clementz), Ian Jaso-Rodriguez, Robert Lunderville II, Ernest Hernandez (Adrian Hernandez), Heather Harris (Albert Harris), and Curtis Walters II. She has also been blessed with 16 great grandchildren, and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Mary Jane was part of the Brackettville Volunteer Fireman Women's Auxiliary for several years. She had been active with the Brackettville Knights of the Alter Women's Group at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church, where she also served a few years as a CCD Religious Education Teacher. She wore many hats as a mother and mentor, such as team-mom for her three sons on their baseball teams, band booster member, and PTA volunteer for several years. She enjoyed being an entrepreneur where she was an Avon Representative for many years. Also worked as a store clerk at Fuentes Grocery Store and worked as Head Maid at Fort Clark Springs. She would help to care for other children and help with house cleaning where needed. On her very sunny side, she loved to visit with her sister and cousins. "There was a lot of love in Mary Jane's life, and she was always full of gratitude. Even though she is gone now we know that her legacy will live on in all of us. She was an incredible teacher and woman of God who inspired everyone who knew her. Her memory will live on in all our hearts forever."
The funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday, May 22, 2024; recitation of the Holy Rosary at 2:15 PM followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00 PM at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church.
The interment will follow at St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Cemetery.

He was the owner of and cook at the original Mexico Tipico restaurant on Dr. Fermin Calderon Blvd. Jose worked at multiple Del Rio restaurants throughout his career including Club Cafe, Red Top Inn, Catfish Cafe, Betty's Ranch House and Mi Casa Restaurant.
He leaves behind his wife of 55 years, Hedelmira Segura, first born son Jose M. Segura with wife Susan Segura and granddaughters Emily Segura and Isabella Segura, second born son Ramon A. Segura with wife Ana Segura, granddaughter Adessa Segura and grandson Max Segura, and also leaves behind his only daughter Ismene Tovar with husband Gilberto Tovar, granddaughter Selene Paredes and grandson Robert Paredes. He also leaves behind nieces Martha Rocio Segura Castillo and Liliana Segura Castillo.
Jose's passion for cooking touched all who knew him. As he loved to see people enjoy and not go without food, contributions in his name to a local food bank are appreciated.
There will be a Memorial Service with a Rosary for Jose A. Segura on Saturday, June 15, 2024 (time pending) at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. Jose was a true example of kindness and humility and leaves an indelible mark on those who were fortunate

Aidee Galindo Garcia valued education. She obtained her associates, then bachelors degree and finally her masters degree all while married and with children. Aidee was the Chief of Human Resources for SFDR-CISD. She dedicated 25 years of her life to serving her community through her work and leadership with the school district as a teacher, counselor, assistant principal, principal, chief of instruction, and her final position as mentioned in Human Resources. She touched the lives of countless students and colleagues. She was known for her unwavering dedication to her family, her kindness towards everyone she met, and her talent for baking that brought joy and comfort to many. Her radiant smile and compassionate heart brightened the lives of all who knew her. She was a source of inspiration, always encouraging and motivating others to do better and reach their goals.
She will be deeply missed by her loving family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched.

Barbara Kaye Riggs Bowlin - August 19, 1936 - May 12, 2024

Obituary Preview: Barbara Kaye Riggs Bowlin was joyfully welcomed into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Mother’s Day, May 12, 2024, at her beloved ranch in Carta Valley, Texas, surrounded by her loving family after a brief fight with cancer. Born on August 19, 1936, to Curtis and Marie Riggs, Barbara was raised in a loving, Christian home. As an only child, she was the light of her parents’ life and they considered her their greatest achievement.
After attending Abilene Christian University, she married the love of her life, Fred M. Bowlin, on June 28, 1956, and would go on to spend nearly 68 wonderful years together, raising their family and exploring the world. She adored her sons, Ben and Brian, and often talked about how they were the pride and joy of her life.
When her grandchildren were born, her unconditional love overflowed to them, and she spent countless summers and holidays teaching them card games such as Krazy Bee (a family favorite) and puzzling. Her patience and kindness with them knew no bounds, even if some of the games got a little too competitive for her liking.
Those who knew Barbara know that her love for her family only came second to her love of God. She was a member of Brackettville Church of Christ for over 30 years and was a pillar of strength, grace, and humility among her church family. Her best friends in Carta Valley were a tremendous support and source of comfort to her in her final days. Barbara’s patient spirit, unwavering faith and fierce loyalty to God will forever be remembered as an example of Christ’s love to all those who loved her.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis E. Riggs and Marie Harrison Riggs, as well as her grandparents and numerous beloved aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by her loving husband, Fred M. Bowlin, of Carta Valley, Tx and her sons: Ben Bowlin (MaxAnn) of Hawley, Tx, and Brian Bowlin (Janna) of Del Rio, Tx; Grandchildren: Luke Bowlin (Angelic) of Big Springs, Tx, Cade Bowlin (Morgan Payne) of Ashton, Idaho, Brooke Bowlin Sellers (Colton) of Del Rio, Tx, and Katie Bowlin of Lubbock, Tx; Great-Grandchildren: Lexie Bowlin, Preston Bowlin and Hayden Bowlin of Big Springs, Tx; and Great-Great-Granddaughter, Londyn Bowlin of Big Springs, Tx; as well as numerous cousins and countless friends.

Obituary Preview: Editha Jo (Russell) Calk of Comstock, Texas was called home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, May 8, 2024. Editha was born on August 1, 1939 in Levelland, Texas. She met her soon-to-be husband, Perry, while they were attending Texas Tech University. They were married on April 29, 1961, and spent their life together in western Val Verde County, Texas, ranching, raising a family, and enjoying life until Perry went to be with the Lord, 59 years later. Editha taught school in Comstock and Del Rio for 25 years and was an active leader in the Val Verde County 4-H Club. One of her great joys was serving as the church pianist for most of her life at Comstock Baptist Church where Perry served as the music director.
Editha Jo is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Perry Calk, and sister Jackie Dycus. She is survived by son Philip Calk and wife Kathy of Brackettville, Texas; daughter Janna Calk of Del Rio, Texas; son Clinton Calk and wife Tina of Amarillo, Texas; son Russell Calk and wife Pattie of Lampasas, Texas; and 7 grandchildren. She was devoted to her family and appreciated opportunities to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and extended family. Editha “adopted” all the boys and young men who passed through her kitchen when hired to work on the ranch. She enjoyed helping others and was a godly example to those around her.
Editha Jo Calk will be missed. We thank God for her life and are blessed to have had such a loving and caring mother and grandmother.
A graveside service is planned for 9 am on Monday, May 13, 2024, at Westlawn Cemetery in Del Rio, Texas. Pallbearers are grandsons Justin Calk, Bryan Calk, Colby Calk, Austin Calk, Cooper Calk, and Travis Calk; granddaughter Emily Calk will serve as an honorary pallbearer.

Anita was a loving and kind-hearted person with an unmatched great sense of humor and Loteria Master as her great-grandson says. Simply, her family was everything to her. She was a very strong woman that faced life’s challenges head on with grace and dignity. After retiring, she dedicated her life to helping raise her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the backbone and matriarch to our big family. Her unconditional love and helping others when she could, will be the legacy that will continue, and will be shared among all the generations in our family. She had a beautiful soul and she had tremendous impact on many lives.
Anita was preceded in death by her parents; her daughters Ana Belia and Dolores Martinez; sisters Antonia, Maria and Andrea Meza, Maria P. Rodriguez and brothers Jesus, Jose, Pablo, Pedro and Francisco Meza; honorary son, Raul Oritz and honorary grandson, Sgt. Domingo Sanchez.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her daughters Ana Ramirez (Juan), Leticia Garza (Gregorio), Elizabeth Murrieta (Michael) and Maricela Koopmann (Alan), and her son, Eulalio Martinez, Jr. (Esmeralda). Her grandchildren: Sabrina Medrano, Gregorio Reyes, Jr. (Lori), Allizza Shaw (Clayton), Saul Ramirez (Britni), Lissette Ruiz (Chris), Ariana Ramirez, Pedro Medrano (Liz), Brenda Medrano-Ponce (Danny), Enrique Reyes (Dolores), Melinda Diaz (Christine), Krista Pate (Dylan), Erika Martinez, Brittney Koopmann, Jessica Martinez, Kari Koopmann and 24 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
The pallbearers will be grandsons, Greg, Saul, Enrique; great-grandsons, Andrew Martinez and Ryan Cervantes and son-in-law, Alan. Honorary pallbearer, nephew, Isidro Avalos.
We give special thanks to our mother’s nurse, Marilou Navarro, BSN, Vicenta Richter, CNA and Alisa Smith, LMSW of Paloma Hospice & Palliative Care for their compassionate care of our beloved mother and their amazing guidance to us as we cared for our mother. We are eternally grateful to you all.

Obituary Preview: Consuelo C. Moreno Ramon, 88, of Del Rio, Texas passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 5, 2024, with family by her side. Consuelo was born in San Carlos, Coahuila, Mexico to Benerando Coronado and Herlinda Cruz Coronado on March 2, 1936. Consuelo was the middle child of five siblings. Consuelo and her family sought out the American Dream and they immigrated to the United States, and she lived in Del Rio, Texas for many years.
Consuelo married her first wonderful husband Oscar Moreno and was happily married for 15 years until his passing. Years later she remarried to Simon Ramon, they were married for 13 years. Consuelo and Simon resided in Del Rio, Texas where they raised their daughter, Cynthia. Consuelo was the heart of our home and family. Consuelo was a woman of faith, resiliency and set the example for her daughter, Cynthia. Her daughter states, “She was the strongest person I know, and I admire her for that. I was so blessed to have her as my Mom”. She always provided a happy and loving home to her daughter, Cynthia, grandchildren, and to her nieces and nephews. Perhaps to her humble beginnings she was fiercely independent, and it was known.
In addition to her devotion to Jesus, Consuelo was an avid swimmer, she loved the water and there was no doubt about that. Consuelo was the home all her nieces and nephews would visit in the summer months. She has left them with fond memories of taking them swimming and being the fun place to be as a child. These memories will be cherished forever. Consuelo also enjoyed gardening and was often found outside enjoying her flowers, plants, and making sure they were perfect. For many years she was very active in her church community. Consuelo sang in the church choir, and she also enjoyed being part of the Guadalupana Society. She loved being a part of the Guadalupana Society, the society promoted the spiritual wellbeing of both men and women, of all nationalities and cultures by the way of prayer, evangelization, and by practicing charity through apostolic work. Conseulo was a devout Catholic. She will be dearly missed by those in her church community.
Consuelo had a sense of humor like no other. Her family can recall numerous jokes and comments that are special to them. Consuelo had a very close relationship with her grandchildren and they are left to cherish many stories and fond memories with her and about her.
Consuelo was predeceased by her parents, Benerando Coronado and Herlinda Cruz Coronado, her beloved first husband Oscar Moreno and second husband Simon Ramon, and her siblings, Teresa Cruz, Linda Cisneros Cruz, Hector Cruz and Benerando “Bene” Cruz.
Consuelo is survived by her daughter, Cynthia and her husband Eduardo Martinez. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Monique, Breanna, and Diego Emiliano.
The family will receive family and friends from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home. A mass will be held at 8:00 AM on Friday, May 10, 2024, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Oaks Cemetery.

Jose Rosenberg Arredondo - May 28, 1927 - May 04, 2024

Obituary Preview: Jose Rosenberg Arredondo, affectionately known as Nene, passed away at the age of 96 on May 4, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, resilience, and love for his family. He was born and raised in the neighborhood of San Felipe in Del Rio,Texas, on May 28, 1927, where he learned the value of diligence and determination from a young age.
Tragedy struck early in Nene's life when his father passed away in a tragic accident, leaving his mother, Dolores Arredondo, to care for him and his siblings. Despite the challenges, Dolores ran a general store in San Felipe, where Nene learned the importance of hard work and perseverance and helped his mother from a young age by selling produce from his bicycle all over the neighborhood. His mother's dedication to his education led him to Sacred Heart Catholic School in Del Rio, Texas, where he received a solid foundation in academics and faith.
At the age of 17, Nene volunteered and joined the Navy during the height of WWII, demonstrating his patriotism and commitment to serving his country. After his service, he returned to Del Rio, Texas, after living in San Diego, California, to care for and provide for his mother.
In 1961 Nene met the love of his life, Cecilia Gomez, at Memo’s Restaurant when she was visiting family in Texas. They lost touch when she returned to California. But years later, they ran into each other in California at a dance where Nene confidently said to her, “You will be the mother of my children,” and they married shortly after. Together, they raised four children, Joe, Henry, David, and Dolores, sharing a bond built on love, respect, and mutual support.
Nene was a true entrepreneur, following in his mother's footsteps, and opened and operated El Camino Club. He was a familiar face in town, known for his friendly demeanor, ability to connect with everyone he met, and his great sense of humor.
Although dedicated to his work, Nene always prioritized his family. He instilled in his children the values of hard work, faith, and education, ensuring that each of them received college degrees.
Jose is preceded in death by his father, Eduardo; his mother Dolores Escobedo Arredondo and siblings Jose PepeArredondo, Eduardo Arredondo, Raul Arredondo, Miguel Arredondo, Arturo Arredondo, Rafaela Cortinas, Lilia Sotelo, and Guillermina Arredondo.
Nene's memory will be cherished by his beloved wife, Cecilia, his children Joe (Yvette)of Alpine; Henry (Kathy) of Del Rio; David (Maricela)of Del Rio; and Dolores Cowan (Clay)of Del Rio. He leaves behind his beloved grandchildren Joey Arredondo Jessica Arredondo, Sarah Arredondo, David Ryan Arredondo, Alyssa Arredondo, Henry Polo Arredondo, Carlos Arredondo, Mia Arredondo, Jacob Cowan, Zoe Arredondo, Gabriel Arredondo and great- grandchildren Rylan, Cody and Maddi. Also left to cherish his memory is his sister, Guillermina Martinez and many nieces and nephews whom he adored. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered for his kindness, generosity, unwavering devotion to his family, and the laughter he brought to those around him. Nene now rests in peace, reunited with his parents and siblings who preceded him in death.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 10, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church.

Greg was a wonderful husband, loving father, grandfather, parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic church, a 4th degree Knight, American Legion member and loyal Marine. He served in the Marine Corp during the Korean War and continued his life to serve his family, community and above all God.
Gregorio was a quiet leader in the community. He was responsible for having the name of Avenue F changed to Veteran’s Boulevard, he was very humble and his good deeds were always kept privately; he gave free haircuts, go to homes to provide haircuts to the sick and gave to those who needed help.
The funeral services are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery. The viewing will be on Friday, May 10, 2024 with a rosary at 7:00 pm prayed by his Brothers of the Knights of Columbus. The funeral will be at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church followed with the interment at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home and Cemetery.

She was born in Alpine, Texas, on September 3, 1938, to Pedro and Anita Ramirez of Alpine, who preceded her in death. She met her loving husband, Ernesto Zamudio, in Alpine, and they were married on September 6, 1953, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church in Alpine. He preceded her in death in 2002. They had been married for 48 years.
She worked at JC Penney’s from 1981 until she retired. She belonged to the Alba Social Club of Del Rio, was an active PTA participant, and served as a member of LULAC Council 4338. She was a devout Catholic who served as a Eucharist minister at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was an excellent cook, enjoyed gardening, sewing and making her own clothes, spending time with her family, and playing with her dog, Daisy.
In addition, Maria was preceded in death by her son, Ernest Zamudio, Jr. (Christy) of Portland, Oregon; her brother, Cornelio C. Ramirez (†Cecilia, † Yolanda) of Alpine; her brother-in-law, Roberto Zamudio, of Del Rio; and a nephew, Miguel Angel Ramirez of Alpine.
She is survived by her three daughters, Rosemary Z. Munro († Blake) of Del Rio, Cynthia Zamudio of San Antonio, Texas, and Mary Lou Corpus-Zamudio (Eli) of Temple, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Corina Ramirez Brown († Albert) of Alpine; and a sister-in-law, Alicia Z. Talamantez († Alfredo), of Del Rio.
In addition, she is survived by 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, seven nieces and six nephews. The grandchildren are Vanessa Stearnes, Vivian Stearnes, Miranda Tucker, Jennie Zamudio, Selina Velasquez (Marcus), Gina Costilla, Erika Atkinson (Cory), Regina Diesslin, Aaron Vachon (Nicola Branch), Edwin Corpus (Samantha), Philippe Vachon, Keily Corpus, and Paul Vachon. The great-grandchildren are Michael Stearnes, Nataleigh Velasquez, Marc Velasquez, Logan Tucker, Kindall Hellman, Quinton Plagmann, Kinnadi Butts, Oakley Diesslin, Phoenix Atkinson, Rosalina Vachon, Everly Vachon, and Violet Vachon.
She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
The visitation will be held on Thursday, May 16, 2024 from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM; recitation of the Holy Rosary at 7:00 PM at Sunset Memorial Oaks Funeral Home.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Sacred Heart  Catholic Church.
