Obituary Preview: Mildred Ann Jacobs, age 89, of Rossford, Ohio passed away on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 in Holland, Ohio. She was born in Toledo on September 24, 1929 to James and Hilda (Broseus) Spafford.
Mildred was a teller at the Ohio Bell phone company, she was an assistant at Schuer School for the Disabled, and over the years she volunteered in many capacities with the church. She is survived by her grandchildren. Angie (John) Demitry, Carrie (Aaron) Smith, Jeremy (Holly) Jacobs, Mike (Starr) Jacobs, Tory (Keith) Redway. Her surviving great-grandchildren; Anthony, Imanuel, Jacob, Jayden, Joseph, Juliana. Her surviving daughters-in-law are Drucilla Jacobs and Laurie Garmen. Mildred was preceded in death by her husband Russell Jacobs, her daughter Lora Jacobs, and her son Stephen Jacobs.

Charles "Chuck" Henderson - January 26, 1938 - December 15, 2018

Henderson, age 80 of Rossford, Ohio passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2018 surrounded by his family.  He was born on January 26, 1938 in Massillon, Ohio to Charles N. and Katheryn (Witting) Henderson. Chuck was a 1956 graduate of Clay High School.  He married Ruth Kos on April 26, 1969.  Chuck retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad as an inspector after 30 years.  He was a previous Boy Scout Master in Rossford and enjoyed fishing and hunting.  For 28 years he raised show rabbits and traveled the country competing.  Chuck was an avid Ohio State and Cleveland Indians fan. His favorite sports to attend were those that all of his grandchildren competed in.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 49 years, Ruth; children, Terri (Martha), Butch (Lil), Chip (Susan) and Scott; grandchildren, Kiley, Lesley, Libby and Tyler Henderson; and great grandchildren, Tripp, Kailynn, Kinsley. Also surviving is his brother, Larry (Sue) Henderson; and brother in-law, John “Mush” Matuszak.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sandy Henderson; and brother, Harry Henderson.

Biel, age 88 of Rossford passed away Thursday December 13, 2018 in the Orchard Villa Care Center, Oregon.  She was born October 20, 1930 in Toledo to David and Anna (Osley) Barna.  A graduate of Rossford High School, she was a waitress for many years at the Toledo Club where she retired in 1985.  She was also a custodian for Rossford Schools.  A member of All Saints Parish  and the Rossford Eagles she loved her animals and also loved to cook, but above all her family was most important to her.
The widow of Donald Biel she was also preceded in death by her daughter Kathy Biel and son and daughter-in-law Donald and Edwina Biel.  Surviving are children Marianne (Mike) Agler, David (Laura) Biel, Roseanne (Rich Bower) Seibert and Eric (Laura) Biel; grandchildren Mike (Krystle), Ryan, Amanda (Dan), Kelly (Candi), Tyler, Alyson, Lindsay, Kylie, Andrew, Ethan and Molly; and great-grandchildren Tyler, Ashlee and Taylore.
Friends may visit the family at the Sujkowski-Walker Funeral Home, 830 Lime City Rd. Rossford on Saturday after 2 PM where funeral services will follow at 6 PM.  Interment will be private. Merlyn "Rocky" Nawrocki - October 07, 1938 - December 06, 2018

Obituary Preview: Merlyn “Rocky” Nawrocki, age 80, of Perrysburg Township, passed away on Thursday, December 6, 2018 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee.  He was born on October 7, 1938 to John and Thelma (Kornasiewicz) Nawrocki.  Rocky was employed with Chrysler as a millwright for more than 35 years and then went to work at the Rossford Marina as a guard.  Rocky loved the sunshine, being outdoors and especially being by the river.  He was a member of the self-proclaimed “Rossford River Rats”.  He enjoyed working on boats, building trailers and riding his Harley Davidson.  He was a loving Husband, father and “Papaw” who will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 37 years, Carolyn Joyce (Wilkerson) Nawrocki; children, Leslie Nawrocki – Woodward, Taracia (Rick Burson) Chumley, Thomas Chumley and Christopher Nawrocki; grandchildren, Tahylar, Alexandria, Katherine, Conagher and Hunter; and great granddaughter, Aubrielle. Also surviving are many dear friends from the Rossford community.

Obituary Preview: Richard “Pops” Charles Widmer, age 59 of Toledo, Ohio passed away on Monday, November 26, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toledo.  He was born in Oregon, Ohio on September 29, 1959 to Rayneld and Sandra (Johnson) Widmer.  Rick was a graduate of Waite High School.  He had worked for Plabell Rubber Products for 27 years and for the past 12 years has been working for Hinkle Manufacturing and Interstate Lanes. Rick was an avid Ohio State fan,  enjoyed golf, bowling, camping and spending time with his family.
Left to cherish his memory are his children, USAF MSgt Steven (Melody) Widmer and Diane (Don) Abdo; fiancée, Sandi Schorling; grandchildren, Dana, Jacob and Branden Widmer, Donnie, Jaidon and Donovan Abdo.  Also surviving are his siblings, Dawn Widmer and Allan Widmer.

Daniel was a graduate of Rossford High School. He married his high school sweet heart and together were raising 3 boys. He enjoyed playing his guitar and writing songs.  Dan was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns.  He was a loving husband and father and will be forever missed.

Lucille Mae Wood - November 22, 1915 - November 23, 2018

Obituary Preview: Lucille Mae Wood of Rossford, Ohio passed away surrounded by her family on her 103rd birthday.  Lucille was born on November 23, 1915 to John and Mae (Friess) Eckhart in Toledo, Ohio.  She was a graduate of Rossford High School.  She married her husband, Ira Wood, on her birthday in 1938.  During WWII, Lucille worked at Libbey Owens Ford in Rossford as part of the Rosie the Riveter movement.  She later worked for United Savings Bank as a branch manager for more than 20 years.  Lucille enjoyed traveling and gardening, as well as playing bingo and cards. In her earlier years she liked to hunt and fish.  She served on the Wood County Board of Aging for more than 30 years, was a lifelong member of Daughters of America, and an auxiliary member of the Rossford VFW and Rossford American Legion Post #533.  Lucille was active daily at the Rossford Senior Center where she made many wonderful friends.  On November 23, 2015 Lucille was presented with a Proclamation from Rossford Mayor Neil McKinnon declaring it Lucille Wood Day to commemorate her 100th birthday.
Surviving are her sons, Thomas (Thelma Weakley) Wood and Robin (Christine) Wood; grandchildren, Todd (Pamela) Wood, Trina (Jim Wise) Wood, Torri (Chris) Daggett and Keith (Bibi) Wood; great grandchildren, Krystal (Michael) Pleitz, Andrew (Suni) Wood, Kaytlyn Wood, Colton Powaski, Mitchell Powaski and Cassandra Daggett; 6 great-great grandchildren and her sister, Norah Colapietro.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; husband, brothers, Noland and Walter Eckhart; sisters, Mona Heuring and Luella Steadman; daughter in-law, Janet Wood; and nephew, Lawrence “Butch” Colapietro. Obituary Preview: Just 18 days after coming into this world, Oliver Rhett Osborne, passed away peacefully on November 18, 2018 in his parents arms at Toledo Children’s Hospital.  He was born on October 31, 2018 and though Oliver was only with us for 18 days he tugged at the hearts of everyone who knew him.
Left to cherish his memory are his parents, Hannah Sims-Matthews and Timothy Osborne; brother, Trevor Osborne; grandparents, Terry and Vickie Sigman; Michael and Karen Osborne; Tiffany Sims; and John Matthews.

Joseph Kopp - November 18, 1940 - November 17, 2018

Obituary Preview: Joseph Kopp Jr, age 77, of Toledo, passed away November 17, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Perrysburg. He was born on November 18, 1940 (in his home) in Rossford, Ohio to Joseph and Bernetta Kopp. He was a graduate of Rossford High School and a US Army Veteran where he had been stationed in Germany.  Joe later retired from Globe/Rieter Industries.
Joe loved gardening and sharing his abundance of fresh vegetables with everyone. He also loved to dance and would sweep the ladies right off their feet. He enjoyed going to the German American festival. He really enjoyed decorating for Christmas and adding a new item every year. You would often see Joe sitting on his front porch or just sitting outside watching everything. He had a knack for repurposing many things. Joe loved kids and enjoyed teaching them how to garden.
Joe is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Elsie (Babes); son, Tim; his extended kids, Doug Walton and Kelly DeStazio whom they helped raise; and his sister, Barbara Bischoff. He loved and was close to his wife's family also. Joe is also survived by several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Catherine and Betty; and his brothers, Carl, Phil, and Bob.

Obituary Preview: Ruth Leck, age 87, of Perrysburg, Ohio passed away peacefully on Friday, October 26, 2018 at Kingston Residence in Perrysburg.  She was born on November 13, 1930 in Toledo, Ohio.  Ruth was a 1948 graduate of Libbey High School in Toledo.  Following high school she worked at Owens Illinois in Toledo until her children were born when she became a full time stay at home mother.  In the mid-70’s she went back to work for Nationwide Insurance in Rossford.  She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in East Toledo where she played the organ for over 25 years, sang in the choir for many years, worked in the church office administration, and was involved in many church functions on a regular basis.  Ruth had a passion for music and would play the piano at Harborside Nursing Home for the residents. She also enjoyed bowling and playing cards with her close friends in the “Crazy Eights” and “Rinky Dinks” clubs for more than 50 years.  Ruth also enjoyed traveling with family and friends all around the U.S. and in many other countries.  One of her favorite past times was reading.  Ruth would often read a novel in 3 to 5 days.  She was involved with volunteer work at Lutheran Social Services, sponsored children in several different countries, loved animals (especially dogs) and was a loving care giver for ageing family members and personal friends.  Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family.  She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Ruth is survived by her daughter, Tami (Al) Luna; son, Gary (Gail) Leck; grandchildren, Brandon (Kasey) Leck, Torey Leck, and Kaila (Brett) Williams.
She was preceded in death by her parents, LeRoy and Goldie LaBeau; husband, Charles “Bud” Leck; and son, David Leck.

Geldien, age 84, of Rossford, Ohio passed away on Monday, October 22, 2018.  She was born on May 28, 1934 in Rossford, Ohio to John and Catherine (Hodulik) Stolar, Sr.  Wilma was a graduate of Rossford High School.  She enjoyed word search puzzles, lottery tickets and playing games of all kinds.  She loved to dance the Jitterbug and watch her favorite movie, Dirty Dancing.  She was an avid fan of Ballreich’s Potato Chips. Most of all she just loved her family and spending time with them, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren whom she adored. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be forever missed.
Surviving are her daughters, Marian Hindall, Diane (Terry) Smith and Shelly (Steve) Latsch; grandchildren, Nichole (Andrew Matthews) Hindall, Shaunna (David) Sturgeon, Renee (Scott Fitzpatrick) Hindall and Kari (Eddie) Cardona; great grandchildren, Kylen, Elanie, Sam and Caleb Sturgeon, Alexis and Cole Kiger, Nikolai and Alice Cardona; and her brother, Edward (Sue) Stolar.
Wilma was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 41 years Earl C. Geldien; 8 sisters; 1 brother; and her beloved son-in-law Edward Hindall.

Nietrzeba, age 78 of Rossford, Ohio passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2018 at Heartland Promedica Hospice in Sylvania.  He was born on April 14, 1940 in Toledo to Stanley and Thecla (Damazyn) Nietrzeba.  Richard was a graduate of Rossford High School and proudly served his country in the US Navy.  He was employed for Jeep as a lineman for 25 years.  Richard was active in many outdoor activities including fishing, hunting rabbits, mushrooms and asparagus.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his great granddaughter, Paisley.  He was a loving father and grandfather who will be dearly missed.
Surviving are his children, Lora (John) Rombach, Richard, and Kevin (Chris) Nietrzeba; grandchildren, Megan (Drake) Schultz, Rebecca, Julie (Trent Morelock), and John Rombach; great granddaughter, Paisley Schultz; sister, Patricia Petryk; and lifelong friend, Bill Tinney. Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Christine (Meyers) Nietrzeba on August 28, 2018; son Steven; and his sister, Rita Nietrzeba.

Ewald, Jr. and together raised two children.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be dearly missed.
Nina was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Charles, Jesse and Francis Stoner; and sister, Alice Gast.
Surviving is her son, Harold “Hal” (Carol) Ewald, III of Highland Lakes, New Jersey; daughter, Lise (Marvin) Hull of Bandon, Oregon; granddaughters Catherine (Joseph Exley) Ewald and Alice (Robert Hall) Ewald; great grandchildren, Fiona Exley and Roan Hall. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Richard Gutowski, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018.  He was born on January 26, 1931 at home in Toledo, the sixth and youngest child of Stanley and Frances Gutowski. Richard proudly served his country in the US Army during the Korean War where he was stationed in Germany.  He was employed with Libbey Owens Ford Glass Company until his retirement in 1985.   He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and sang in the choir, a life-time member of the American Legion Post #533, volunteered in the church kitchen during summer festivals.  His greatest joys were fishing on Lake Erie with his son, having the family over for his famous fish fry and babysitting his grandchildren following his retirement.
Surviving is his loving wife of 68 years, Katherine (Kazia Klepacz) Gutowski; sons, Thomas (Judy) Gutowski, Gerald Gutowski; daughter, Rebecca (Gordie) Chauvin; grandchildren, Jessica (Devin) Howard, John Lydy, and Matthew (Christina) Radecki.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Floyd (Alice) Gutowski; sisters, Eleanor Gutowski, Dorothy (Al) Jankowski, Irene (Joe) Kajaniak, Loretta (Ted) Zawierucha.
In accordance with Richards wishes, his body was donated UTMC.  A Memorial Mass is planned for 11 am on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at All Saints Catholic Church in Rossford with bagpipe music by Devin Howard. The family will receive visitors in the church narthex beginning at 10:15 am.  The family suggests memorial contributions in Richards memory be directed to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, 30000 E. River Rd. Perrysburg, OH 43551.

Obituary Preview: Jeannette Mary Konwinski, age 78 of Bowling Green, Ohio passed away on September 28, 2018 at Ridgewood Manor in Maumee, Ohio.  Jeanette was born on September 13, 1940 in Toledo to Gerald and Evelyn (Short) Craft.  She was a hairdresser for many years, was an accomplished seamstress and a talented artist.
Surviving are her children, Timothy (Trina) Konwinski, II, Matthew (Melissa) Konwinski, Michael (Stacey) Konwinski and Cheryl (Rich) Konwinski; brothers, Dennis, Larry and Tad Rudnicki.  Also surviving are grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Jeannette was preceded in death by her parents and a sister.
A special thank you to her niece, Jennifer and special friend, Frankie for all of their love and support in Jeannette’s final days.
A memorial service is being planned for a later date.  Arrangements have been entrusted to the Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford.

Louis V. Gwozdz - March 24, 1930 - September 26, 2018

Obituary Preview: Louis Vincent Gwozdz, 88 years old, died Wednesday morning in his home. Born on March 24, 1930, Louie was the son of Vincent and Frances (Kedzior) Gwozdz. He was raised in Rossford and attended St. Mary Magdalene Catholic School and Rossford High School, where he played basketball, football and baseball. He married his high school sweetheart, Leona Gibel, on March 31, 1951, and she survives. Louie was drafted into the U.S. Army and proudly served his country in the Korean War. Afterwards, he was employed for 40 years at the former Libbey Owens Ford glass factory in Rossford.
Louie was a dedicated fan of the Cleveland Indians and Cleveland Browns, despite their sometimes dismal records. He enjoyed playing bingo for 35 years, and always took his chances on scratch off lottery tickets. The Hollywood Casino was his favorite destination. Louie was extremely proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and talked endlessly of them.
Louie is survived by his wife of 67 years, Leona; children Cindy (Herman) Stolk of Perrysburg, Diane Spencer of Rossford, Barbara Laux of Salt Lake City, and Bob (Leslie) Gwozdz of Clinton, IL; grandchildren Beth Laux of Salt Lake City, Mark (Monica) Laux of Mountain View, CA, Jonathan (Ruqaiya Al Abri) Stolk of Perrysburg, Bradley Stolk of Kansas City, Kayla Gwozdz of Oviedo, FL, Kiel Gwozdz of Rossford and Kasey Gwozdz of Clinton, IL; great-grandchildren Andrew Stolk and Blaise, Eva, Rex and Vance Laux; sisters in law, Lela Nale and Christine Gibel.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.
Louie was preceded in death by his parents; in laws, Andrew and Leona Gibel; brothers, Joseph Nale, Frank (Thelma) Nale, Henry (Cecelia) Gwozdz, Stanley (Josephine) Gwozdz and Leonard Gwozdz; brother in law, Donald Gibel; and those from his extended families, the Warchols and Kachmariks.
Louis’ family would like to thank his neighbors Mark and LeAnn Marek and Dave and Jennifer Verbosky, who helped him in ways too numerous to mention; Nurse Laura and Desiree, Tammy, Patrick and Andy from Hospice of Northwest Ohio and Rev. Anthony Recker for his spiritual care.

Charles looked forward to family vacations to the Smoky Mountains and Cherokee, NC.  He also enjoyed going to the Wood County Fair Tractor Pulls and the Five Point Steam Thresher Reunion every year.  He liked to tinker around in the garage working on mowers and tractors.  His greatest joy was spending time with his family and especially his grandchildren.
Surviving are his children, Terry Handley, Julie (Tim) Shank, Chuck (Rachel) Handley and Fred Handley; grandchildren, Seth, MacKenzie, Sophie, Brooke and Meghan; great grandchild, Oliver; brothers, Larry (Joanne) and Howard; and sisters, Jackie (Harry) Limmer and Sue Michalak.  Also surviving are many nieces and nephews.

Kobylak, age 75 of Monclova, OH passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at his home after a long illness.  He was born on December 25, 1942 in Toledo to Louis and Angela (Kornasiewicz) Kobylak.  Ron was a graduate of Rossford, High School and proudly served his country in the US Navy during the Vietnam War on the USS Lester.  He married Anita (Eisel) on May 1, 1965 and went to work for Libbey Owens Ford Glass Company in the Mold Shop.  Ron was a life member of the Maumee Elk’s and a member of St. Joan of Arc Church.  He was a very talented man who loved woodworking and caring for the lawn.  He enjoyed reading Mother Earth News and spending time with his family.  Ron’s proudest achievement was designing and building his own home with the help of his wife and children.  He paid great attention to the details and customization. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 53 years, Anita; children, Scott (Diana) Kobylak, Trudy (J. Mark) Turner and Aaron Middleton; brother, Theodore (Corrine) Kobylak; grandchildren, Tyler Whearty, Landon and Mallory Kobylak; and his lifelong friend, Jim Manke.
Pappy was preceded in death by his parents; and his daughter, Tricia Kobylak.

Beroth on June 23, 1951 and they spent 58 years together. Helen worked as a legal secretary for 10 years prior to starting her family.  She loved to play the piano and was an accomplished seamstress. Helen was a long time member of Grace Lutheran Church in Toledo. Her most cherished times was with her family, especially her granddaughter, Katlyn.  Helen spent 15 years volunteering for the Red Cross in memory of her son who was a recipient of their services during his illness. She was a loving mother and grandmother and will be dearly missed. Surviving is her daughter, Janet Ulinski; granddaughter, Katlyn Ulinski; Helen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John H. Beroth in 2010; son, Paul Beroth; and son in-law, Kenneth Ulinski;
In accordance with Helen’s wishes there will be no visitation and services will be private.  A private burial will take place at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.  The Sujkowski Funeral Home of Rossford is assisting the family with arrangements.
