Henry Driessen Jr. - August 11, 1940 - March 03, 2022

Departed: 03/03/2022 (Hardeeville)
Obituary Preview: Henry Driessen, Jr., or “Jack Frost” as he was affectionately called, was born to the late Henry Sr. and the late Alice Robinson Driessen on August 11,1940 on Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. As a native Islander, he was raised in the Stoney area. He accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior early on. He attended the local public schools after performing his daily farm work.
After losing his father at the age of 16, Henry worked in several cities along the eastern coast in North Carolina and Florida performing odd jobs to support his mother and younger siblings. After returning to Hilton Head Island, as a young man, he worked as a fisherman and shrimp boat operator.
He was joined in Holy Matrimony to Catherine Grant whose union was blessed with one son, Erwin.
Later, he married his current love, Clareatha, whose union blessed them with one daughter, Heather and Ava.
Many of Henry’s accomplishments include being a part-time deputy with local law enforcement for beach control. He was a consultant for the Environment Impact Study for Beaufort Jasper Hampton Comprehensive Health Services. He was also instrumental in preventing BASF from building a factory in Hilton Head Island, whose factory waste into local rivers would limit or even cripple local fisherman income. This event would be marked by a boat ride to Washington, D.C. in which he presented a bag of shrimp as a gift to U.S. representatives as a symbol of the importance of having undisturbed marine life in order to support their livelihood.
Those who knew him know he loves his cowboy hats and boots. Add that with a crisp white shirt and pressed Wrangler jeans, he just knew he was “styling.” He was a huge fan of TV shows like Bonanza, Gunsmoke, and even the Young and the Restless (Yes, he loved Victor Newman). Also, he was a huge Clint Eastwood fan. On Thursday, March 3, 2022, in the late night, God being too just to be unkind and too wise to make mistakes, saw the road was rough and the hills were getting too hard to climb, he gently closed Henry’s eyes and whispered: “Peace be thine.”
In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his son, Alton and his sister Margie.
“Jack Frost” leaves to cherish his most precious memories with his loving wife of 40 years Mrs. Clareatha Brown Driessen, three children: Erwin (Amber) Driessen of Dacula, GA, Heather Driessen of Aiken, SC, and Ava (John) Duncan of Pooler, GA; six grandchildren: Jasmine Parker, Johnnesha Jenkins, John Duncan II, Jourdan Driessen, Evan Driessen, and Haleigh Butler; two sisters: Mary Washington and Ida Perry of Hilton Head Island, SC; four brothers: Richard Driessen of Miami, FL, William Driessen, Bernard Driessen, and Daniel Driessen of Hilton Head Island, SC; a host of nieces and nephews, dedicated cousins and friends, and his childhood friend/business partner, Alan Ulmer, Jr.
Walk-thru will be held on Monday March 07, 2022 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm at Stiney's Funeral Home.
Graveside services will be held 11:00am Tuesday March 08, 2022, at Amelia Cemetery Hilton Head Is SC.
