Born September 20, 1950, in Manning, she was the daughter of the late Walter Scott Richbourg and the late Rubye Dell Ridgeway Richbourg. Peggy Sue was a 1968 graduate of Manning High School and began her career in healthcare working for the late Dr. Robert Jackson and later retired from the Department of Health and Environmental Control with over 30 years of service. She was a member of American Legion Unit 68 Ladies Auxiliary and Manning First Baptist Church.
She is survived by two daughters, Susan Lane Steiner (Tripp) of Columbia and Carrie Anna Lane Strange (Morgan) of Manning; four grandchildren, Chappell, Lane & Adelle Steiner, and Marion Ellis Strange; Peggy Sue may have been an only child, but she was richly blessed with many first cousins who were more like siblings throughout her life, Ray Ridgeway, Rubye Dell Welch, Arthur Dean Ridgeway, Angie McCord, Patricia Galloway, Tim Richburg, Terry Richburg, Elaine Buddin, Libby Durrenberger, Irene Brewer, Betty Ruth Robinson, Bobby Richburg, Harold Richburg, Muriel Walker, Kermit Holladay, Shirley Thompson, Carolyn Van Cleef, Joyce Marshall, Joann Hines, Ben Richburg, Dawn Reardon, Janet Elvington, David Richburg, Judy Wilson, and Diane Champion; and special friend and devoted caregiver, Pat Lyons.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt, Susie Margaret Ridgeway; and the father of her children, Ellis Lane, Jr.

Born July 15, 1948, in Sumter, she was a daughter of the late Marshall LeRoy Avin and the late Lucille Davis Avin. She loved the beach and loved to travel. After retirement, she and George traveled in their RV for nine years covering all the lower 48 states, Canada and Mexico.
Surviving in addition to her husband of Manning are two daughters, Cindy Pearson Falls (Robert) of Manning and Debbie Pearson (Robert Taylor) of Lexington; two step-daughters, Georgetta McGuire (Frankie) of Rock Hill and Sherry Brandon of Rock Hill; four grandchildren, Taylor Falls Baxley (Brandon), Grady McWhite, Blake Fenters and Trey Falls; five step-grandchildren, Brandon Gross; Jonathan McGuire; Cayce McGuire; Zachary Brandon and Lynsie Brandon; two great grandchildren, Kolbrynn McWhite and Sutton Baxley; two step-great grandchildren; one sister, Shirl Jowers (Gerald) of Columbia; a brother, Tim Avin (Sue) of Manning; four nephews; and two special friends, Gloria Kay Phillips and Sandra Falls.

Born July 28, 1933, in Manning, he was a son of the late Henry Beatson Mahoney, Sr. and the late Margaret Geneva Reardon Mahoney. He was a US Navy veteran. In 1972, H.B. and his wife, Jean, opened and operated the Family Bootery for the next 21 years. He was a past member of the Civitan Club in Sumter. H.B. retired from the U.S. Postal Service and was a faithful member of Manning First Baptist Church and the P.T. Bradham Sunday School class and served his church in various capacities including Deacon and Trustee.
He is survived by four children, Michael "Mike" P. Mahoney (Angie) of North Litchfield, Mildred Patrice "Pat" DuBose of Manning, Thomas "Tom" O. Mahoney of Surfside, and William "Billy" H. Mahoney (Angela) of Manning; seven grandchildren, Craig DuBose of Charleston, Steven DuBose (Hallie) of Gable, Erin Mahoney Johnson (James) of Pawleys Island, Will Mahoney of Salters, Jennifer Mahoney Jackson (Scott) of Manning, Eileen Mahoney of Atlanta, GA, and Mattie Mahoney of Manning; eight great grandchildren, Henry Johnson, Eliza Johnson, Katherine Johnson, Mary Rutledge Johnson, Scott Jackson IV, Lee Jackson, Capers DuBose, and Salters DuBose; a brother, Robert L. Mahoney, Sr. of Florence; a sister, Geneva Curtis of Irmo; and several nieces and nephews.

He is survived by six children, Margaret Brewer (Joe), Tom Brewer (Linda), both of Manning, Elaine Brewer Driggers of Turbeville, Mildred Brewer Peet (Dean), Paul Brewer (Marie) and Paulette Brewer Peterson (Ronnie), all of Manning; a daughter-in-law, Judy Brewer of Manning; eleven grandchildren; nineteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He is survived by a daughter, Connie Bennett (Hayward) of Orlando, FL; three sons, Bill Johnson (Sue) of Ozark, AL, Kevin Johnson (Mary) of Savannah, GA, and Dean Johnson of Nashville, AR; two grandchildren, Jarrod Johnson (Kristina) and Amanda Montoya, both of Savannah, GA; and three great grandchildren, Megan Montoya, Jason Montoya, and Rowan Johnson.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Johnnie Johnson.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at St. Paul Cemetery with the Rev. Denman Isgett officiating.

Born June 27, 1930, in Altavista, Virginia, he was the son of the late Clyde Thomas Brandon and Lena Owen Brandon. As an infant, his parents moved to Burlington, NC, where he lived until leaving for military service. He served in the U.S. Army Special Forces (which became the Green Berets) during the Korean War, from 1951 to 1954, when he was honorably discharged.
A 1956 graduate of Elon College, he was employed for many years by the Wrangler Division of Blue Bell Inc. After retirement from Blue Bell, he worked for many years as a broker for Remax Realty in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. Prior to moving to Manning, he lived in North Myrtle Beach for more than 30 years.
In addition to his wife of 49 years, Cornelia Driggers, he is survived by his son, Rhett Brandon (Frances) of New York, New York, daughter, Shauna B. Johnson (Ross) of Louisville, Kentucky, son, Kevin D. Brandon (Carla) of St. Simons Island, Georgia, and stepdaughter, Stacie R. Thigpen (Chris) of Manning, ten grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at Clarendon Memorial Gardens with Chaplain Jeff Grubbs officiating.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 10, 2024, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home.

Born July 28, 1949, in Florence, he was a son of the late James Walter Thigpen, Jr. and the late Azalee Rogers Thigpen. He was the grandson of the late James Walter Thigpen and Sallie Tomlinson Thigpen as well as the late Thurmon Rogers and Rosa Belle Abbott Rogers.
Jim grew up in the small community of Hebron and eventually moved to Florence. “Snookie”, as he was known by his family and friends, graduated from Southside High School, Clemson University and Harvard Business School. He taught school at Southside for one year then went to work for several agricultural chemical companies. In 1990, he and two partners started their own successful chemical company and moved from Valdosta, GA, to settle in Summerton, with his family. He was a successful entrepreneur with many businesses and real estate projects. Jim had a passion for golf, hunting, fishing, and following his beloved Clemson Tigers.
Jim is survived by his sons, James Christopher Thigpen Jr. (Melissa) of Valdosta, GA and Ryan Douglas Thigpen (Mary) of Huntersville, NC; five grandsons, Coston Thigpen (Lydia), Andrew Thigpen, Alex Thigpen, Jase Thigpen, and Owen Thigpen; three great-grandchildren, Caelan Hinton, Margo Thigpen and Cohen Thigpen; four sisters, Betty Jo Yarborough of Sardis, Shirly McCutchen of Hartsville, Wanda Ross (Mark) of Florence, and Vonnie Koeppel of Sumter; former wife, Judy Thigpen of Valdosta, GA; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to his parents and grandparents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Ard; a brother, Kennon Thigpen; and brothers-in-law, Wayne McCutchen, Frank Ard, Urs Koeppel, and Cale Yarborough.

Born August 23, 1942, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Dr. Wesley James Snyder, Jr. and the late Mary Cuttino Snyder. He was a 1965 graduate of the University of South Carolina and he was a US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War where he served as a deep-sea diver. Jimmy started his thirty year career in the restaurant business as a manager at the Atlantic House Restaurant in Charleston. He later opened Dana’s Restaurant in his hometown of Sumter. He owned and operated Atlantic Engraving Company in Charleston. He enjoyed boating and golfing. He was a charter member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church and he attended Santee Summer Ministry (Boat Church).
He is survived by his wife of 20 years of Manning; two children, Wesley James Snyder IV (Bethany) of Outer Banks, NC and Meri Leslie Eaves of Mebane, NC; a granddaughter, Evelyn Eaves of Mebane, NC; a sister, Mary Betsy Acken (John) of Birmingham, AL; the mother of his children, Sue Snyder of Mebane, NC; and several nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 18, 2024, at the residence, 1072 Lemon Avenue, Manning, with the Rev. Dr. Reginald Thackston officiating.
A reception will be held immediately following the Celebration of Life service.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years of Manning; three sons, William Franklin “Duke” Taylor, Jr. of Columbia, Jesse Dale Taylor and Dustin “Dusty” Lee Taylor (Maggie Ridgeway), both of Manning; a brother, Mark Anthony Taylor of Columbia; four sisters-in-law, Ida Ruth Hazelett and Jo Ann Darling, both of Kentucky, Helen Martin (Doug) of Maryland, and Margaret McGuire; two nieces, Addison and Sara Taylor, both of Columbia; and a nephew, Jody Taylor of Charleston.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, James Harry Taylor.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 29, 2024, at Manning First Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Reynolds officiating.

He was a Captain with the Clarendon County Volunteer Fire Department and a certified arson investigator.
He is survived by his daughter by choice, Frances Ann Richbourg of Summerton; and a number of special nieces and nephews.

As a lifelong outdoorsman, he was a member of Ducks Unlimited and Mid Carolina Gun Club. Bill was a member of Manning United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years of Manning; two daughters, Dr. Lori Vanscoy (Dr. Snehal Patel) of Severna Park, MD and Lisa Besser (Johnny) of Blythewood; four grandchildren, Kayla & Tessa Patel and Emma & Henry Faulkenberry; four step grandchildren, Kinsey, John, Ben and Jake Besser; a sister, Janice Huss of Albany, GA; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Derek Faulkenberry; and a brother, Kenneth Vanscoy.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, April 27, 2024, at Manning United Methodist Church with the Rev. David D. McManus, Jr. officiating.

Born on September 30, 1932, in Chester, SC, Lib was the beloved daughter of the late Johnny William Clack and Mollie Dove Clack.
Lib's life was marked by her unwavering commitment to her family, her church, and her community. As the school dietician at Duncan Chapel Elementary School, she nourished countless young lives with her culinary skills and warm spirit. Alongside her late husband, John Richard Brakefield, Lib also co-owned and operated a catering business that was well-known for its service to others. Her intelligence shone through her business acumen, and her creative touch made each event she catered memorable.
Her faith was central to her life. While residing in Greenville, Lib was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church of Travelers Rest, where her melodic voice was a cherished part of the choir. After moving to Manning, she continued to be a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church at Manning, where she found great joy in fellowship and service.
Lib's enthusiasm for life was infectious, and her love for Furman University's athletics was renowned. She could often be found cheering on the Furman Paladins, embodying the spirit of the team with every game.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and dedication in her family. Lib is survived by her two children, Mike Brakefield (Lisa) of Anna Maria Island, FL, and Debbie B. Cothran (Ferrell) of Manning; her six grandchildren, Marion E. DuBose IV (Ashley), Michael Cothran (Laci), Scott Cothran (April), Molly McKinnon (Eric), Kaytlin Dangaran (John), and Callison Crocker (Jonathan); and her fourteen great-grandchildren. She is also remembered by her two nieces, who held a special place in her heart.
A funeral service to honor the life of Lib Brakefield will be held at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 14, 2024, at the Presbyterian Church at Manning, with the Rev. Dr. Phillip Reynolds officiating. The service will reflect on her faith-filled life and the many hearts she touched. Burial will follow at Clarendon Memorial Gardens, where she will be laid to rest.
Pallbearers will be her beloved grandsons and great grandson, Marion DuBose, Michael Cothran, Eric McKinnon, John Dangaran, Scott Cothran, and M.E. DuBose.
Friends and family are invited to gather for a visitation one hour prior to the service, from 2 to 3 p.m., in the church fellowship hall. They are also welcome to visit the family residence at 2265 Greeleyville Highway, Manning, at other times.
Their family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to her loving caregivers, Melissa Wells, Diane McFadden and Amedisys Hospice.

Her faith was central to her life, and she was an active and cherished member of New Zion Methodist Church, serving in the choir, the women’s circle, and as a Sunday School teacher. Mary Gertrude will be remembered as a loving, selfless, and
faith-filled woman whose kindness touched the lives of all who knew her.
Mary Gertrude's legacy is carried on by her loving family. She is survived by three children, William “Edgar” Baker III (Gwyn) of New Zion, Dianne Baker Uber (Berni) of Myrtle Beach and Mary Ava Baker of Manning. She was a proud grandmother to eight grandchildren—Mary Kathryn, Allison, Trudy, Amanda, Alyssa, Amos, Mary Jude, and Stephen—and a doting great-grandmother to ten great-grandchildren. Robbie served in the National Guard and was a volunteer firefighter with the City of Manning Fire Department for 60 years. He was a charter member of New Covenant Presbyterian Church in Manning, sang in the choir, served as an Elder, and was an Elder Emeritus. He worked in the auto parts business for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Annie M. DuRant; his sister, Laura Phillips (Sam) of Carthage, NC; children, Beth Martins (Dan) of Sumter, Bert DuRant of Long Beach, CA, and Joe DuRant (Kathleen) of Sumter; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph Keller DuRant, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home with the Rev. Daniel B. Miller officiating.
Honorary pallbearers will be members of the City of Manning Fire Department.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service from 1 to 2 p.m. at Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the residence, 3551 Horizon Drive, Sumter.
