Obituary Preview: John J. Murphy, 74, of Saugus passed away on May 14, 2024. John was born the son of John and Anna Murphy of Saugus on August 1, 1949. John grew up and lived most of his life in Saugus and graduated from Saugus High School, Class of 1968. After graduating, John joined the Air Force and served as a jet engine mechanic at the Air Training Command, Columbus AFB, Mississippi.
After completing his tour with the USAF, John came back home to work as a jet engine assembler at GE Aerospace in Lynn, where he retired after 37 years. John especially enjoyed being at the numerous cookouts and family gatherings over the years. He also liked all the Boston spots teams. He was a hockey player at heart and of course the Bruins were at the top of his list. John also loved being a ski instructor and riding his motorcycle with his beloved wife Linda Murphy, by his side. They enjoyed traveling together and rarely missed their motorcycle trips out west with friends to places like Arizona, Nevada, and Utah and wherever else they could get to.
John was predeceased by his beloved wife Linda by 3 years and his brother, Dennis Murphy of Londonderry, NH and most recently his mother-in-law, Louise Noonan of Lynn, MA. He is survived by 2 sons, Bryan Murphy of Ohio and Jason Murphy of MA; a sister-in-law, Nancy Murphy of Londonderry, NH, a brother and his wife Rick and Sharon Murphy of Alton, NH, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Martin and Nancy Noonan of Westwood, MA, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mike and Donna Molligi of Lynn, MA, a brother-in-law and sister-in-law Marc and Deb Ducharme of Lynn, MA, and several nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 22, from 10AM – 12PM at the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway(Rt. 129), Lynn, followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 12PM. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Lynn. Memorial donations may be made to his memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17 Chicago, IL 60601, alz.org.

Obituary Preview: Kathleen J. (Curtin) Morella, 84, of Lynn and Center Lovell Maine, died unexpectedly Tuesday May 7, 2024 after a brief illness. Born in Everett to the late Thomas J and Katherine (Noonan) Curtin, Kathy was raised in Nahant. She graduated from Lynn English Class of 1957 and Bridgewater State College class of 1961. She was the beloved wife of 60 years to Bill Morella. Kathy and Bill raised their family in North Saugus, and then moved to Lynn after the children were on their own. Kathy and Bill loved spending as much time as possible at their home in Center Lovell, Maine and the White Mountains of New Hampshire. They also enjoyed spending their winters Naples Florida.
Kathy was an elementary school teacher for many years in Lynn and Woburn. She loved being an educator loved the time she spent with her students.
Kathy and her family were members of Otter Ski Club in North Conway, NH for over thirty years. She also was a member of the Twentieth Century Club, the General Federation Women’s Club, and the Woburn Teachers Association. She volunteered for many years at the Charlotte Hobbs Memorial Library in Lovell, ME where she made many lifelong friends. When her children, were young Kathy volunteered as a Campfire Leader. She also enjoyed seeing her children involved in sports and other activities. She also enjoyed reading, cooking and baking, knitting and her flowers. Knitting was a particular passion for Kathy, she delivered many hats and prayer squares to hospitals in the area.
Kathy is survived by her husband Bill, her son William and his fiancée Deidre DeVille, and her daughter Suzanne Higham and her husband Stephen. She is the predeceased by her brother Thomas G Curtin and sister-in-law Joanne Pennell. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Obituary Preview: We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear Anthony (Tony) Batson, who passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024. Tony, aged 52, was a cherished member of the Lynn community. Originally from Barbados, he came to the United States in 1983 and made Lynn his home ever since. His journey included attending Lynn Classical High School.
For the past 19 years, Tony dedicated himself to his role as a cook at the Hyatt Regency in Boston. His colleagues held him in high esteem, a testament to his character and work ethic. Beyond his professional life, Tony was a devoted and loving father, always prioritizing time for his daughters' activities.
In addition to his parents, Tyrone and Mary Batson and Godmother Stephanie Hazell, Tony is survived by his daughters, Chloe and Sophia Batson, and his siblings: Sherrine Batson-Evelyn and her husband Anthony Evelyn, André Batson, and Terry Batson and his wife Yasmin Cuevas-Batson. He is also mourned by his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Irene and Peter Cusimano, and sister-in-law Sarah Cusimano, along with his nieces and nephew: Tiana Evelyn, Anthony Evelyn Jr., Lexiana Batson, Leani Batson, and Jada Davis.
Our hearts go out to all who knew and loved Tony. His memory will forever remain in our hearts, a beacon of love and cherished moments shared. Obituary Preview: Daniel J. O’Neill, age 77, of Lynn, passed away on Sunday morning, May 5, 2024. He was the husband of Mary A. (Paris) O’Neill, with whom he shared nearly 48 years of marriage. Born in Salem, he was the son of the late James J. O’Neill and Louise (McAuliffe) LeBlanc. He had lived in Lynn for the greater part of his life, and was a graduate of St. Mary’s High School in Lynn.
Daniel was a staunch Union man and employee of General Electric for over 46 years until his retirement in 2011. He enjoyed playing cribbage and was an avid golfer, spending many days at Gannon Golf course. He had also been very involved with East Lynn Little League as a coach and a board member with a focus on the Tee Ball program. Daniel took pride in his home and enjoyed mowing his lawn and caring for his yard. He was a jack of all trades, always learning how to build and fix things around the house. His greatest joy came from time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and his beloved dog, Gabby.
In addition to his loving wife, Mary, he is survived by his four children; Colleen O’Neill and her husband Jack Norton of Alexandria, NH, Shawn O’Neill and his wife Kate of New Hampton, NH, Dan O’Neill and his partner Jennifer Williams of Chelmsford, and Ryan O’Neill and his wife Angela of Lynn; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his siblings; Louise Connolly and her husband Hubert, Gary O’Neill and his wife Donelda, and Peggy Bucknam; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late James O’Neill.

Allen, Jr. (Lisa), Richardson B. “Pitch” Allen and Tapley A. Sheresky (Steven). Also survived by her four grandchildren, Douglas F. Allen, III (Susan), Spencer P. Allen, Kenneth R. Sheresky (Brooke) and Lucy B. Sheresky, and by one great-grandson. She was active for many years playing bridge with a group of friends from her days at Stanley School in Swampscott, the Garden Club of Swampscott, the Beach Club and Tedesco Country Club. Obituary Preview: Steven Andrew Larkin passed away at home after a long illness. He was born at the Mary Alley Hospital in Marblehead on February 23, 1950. Steve loved hiking, gardening, and could fix or make anything he set his mind to doing. He had a strong connection to the natural world, and those around him. He was quietly devoted to the care of many family members and neighbors in their later years.
After high school Steve served in the navy, and was attached to the Marines as a combat medic.
He lived most of his life in Acton working as an independent contractor and carpenter.
Steve is loved and will be missed by his sister, Kathleen Larkin; sister-in-law, Sandra Larkin and family; nephew, Brian Larkin and family; nephew, Jason Popieniuck and family; nephew, Alexander Popieniuck; nephew, Matthew Popieniuck and family; niece, Lara White and family; cousins, Judy Hapgood, Joanne Jackson, Stewart Jackson, Carolee Jackson Lord, and Jeffrey Jackson.

Edward T. Finigan - October 30, 1926 - April 30, 2024

Obituary Preview: Edward T. Finigan, age 97, of Swampscott and formerly of Lynn, died peacefully on Tuesday, April 30, 2024, at The Residence at Vinnin Square, following a period of declining health. Married in 1953, he was the devoted husband of the late Mary Anne (Murray) Finigan from County Cavan, Ireland. Born in Somerville, MA, in 1926, he was the son of the late Edward P. and Helen M. (Lord) Finigan. He attended St. Mary’s Grammar School in Cambridge and, in 1943, he dropped out of Cambridge High & Latin during his junior year to enlist in the United States Navy for 4 years. He proudly served with the Atlantic and Pacific Fleets on the 4-Piper Destroyer, USS Whipple (DD-217) and the Aircraft Carrier, USS Princeton (CV-37) during WWII. He received his High School Equivalency Diploma from the Armed Forces while at sea. A Registered Professional Engineer in Massachusetts, he received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering Degree (BSEE) from Northeastern University in 1953 and returned later for his Masters of Business Administration Degree (MBA) in 1964 and his Masters of Public Administration Degree (MPA) in 1978. He also served as Professor of Public Speaking at Mass Bay Community College from 1957-1963. Ed held several marketing management positions at General Electric in Lynn in the 1950’s; was the Northeast Regional Sales Manager for Meyer Manufacturing Company, a Wisconsin brewery equipment manufacturer, in the early 1960’s and was the National Marketing Manager for Dynatech R&D Company, an engineering consultancy in Cambridge, in the late 1960’s. His 28 year career with the Federal Government began at the Office of Economic Opportunity (OEO) in the 1970’s and ended with his retirement from the US Department of Energy’s (DOE) New England Office in 1995. His Public Service career included 11 years with the Lynn Redevelopment Authority (1958-1969) and 14 years with the City of Lynn Planning Board (1966-1972 & 1995-2003). He was a longtime parishioner of St. Pius V Church where he volunteered as a Eucharistic Minister and served on the Finance Committee and also volunteered at the school library. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus, Valladolid Council #70 in Lynn and served as Grand Knight from 1970-1971. Genealogy topped his hobbies, as he proudly pointed to John Alden and Priscilla Mullins from the Mayflower as fully documented ancestors.
Ed is survived by his loving children James Finigan of Lynn, Thomas Finigan of Milton and Maura Carroll and her husband Bill of Swampscott; his beloved grandchildren, Alec, Cavan, Duncan and Will Finigan and Maggie, Dorothy and Patrick Carroll and his many nieces and nephews in Massachusetts and in Swanlinbar, County Cavan, Ireland. He was predeceased by his daughter-in-law, Duncan Finigan and was the brother of the late Helen Adams and Ruth Baily and brother-in-law of the late James Murray.
A Funeral will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024 at 9:30a.m. from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt.129), Lynn followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church, Lynn at 10:30a.m. Burial in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Ruth M. (Willey) Stewart - August 18, 1926 - April 29, 2024

Obituary Preview: Ruth Meta (Willey) Stewart, 97, died Monday April 29, 2024, at her son’s home in Pelham, NH surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of Roger D. Stewart of 47 years, who predeceased her in 1997. Born in Lynn on August 18, 1926 to the late Harry H. and Jennie F. (Smith) Willey, Ruth was a Lynn resident for 94 years before moving to Colonial Gardens Independent Living in Beverly, and spent the last months at her son’s home in Pelham, NH. Ruth attended Lynn Schools, graduating from Lynn English Class of 1944, and then attended Hickox Secretarial School in Boston.
Ruth was an avid skier in her teens and twenties, skiing every weekend there was snow. She skied Black Mountain, Cranmore, Mount Sunapee and the former Thorn Mountain. She was a member of the Ski Patrol and she often stayed at Whitney’s Inn in Jackson, NH.
In her early years, Ruth worked at Elmer H. Bright Investments, and then was a homemaker, raising her 2 sons. She later worked at Hoffman’s in Lynn. She also volunteered at Union Hospital for several years.
She enjoyed camping and vacationing in the White Mountains of NH and on the Maine Coast with her family and friends.
She was a member of the former Lynnfield St. Baptist Church for more than 50 years, member of the Bereans Women’s Group and served on various committees. She was a current member of the Broadway Methodist Church in Lynn for over 30 years.
Ruth is survived by her son Bruce Stewart and his wife Robin of Hamilton, MA, her son Richard “Kip” Stewart and his wife Anne of Pelham, NH, 7 grandchildren; Erin Stewart of Salem, MA, Jeffrey Stewart and his wife Tiffany of Pembroke Pines, FL, Matthew Stewart and his wife Mackenzie of Topsfield, Richard Stewart and his wife Amy of Haverhill, Daniel Stewart and his wife Holly of North Reading, Stephen Stewart and his wife Jessica of Middleton, Christopher Stewart of North Andover, 7 great grandchildren; Cambree, Faith, Hailey, Aubree, Alexander, Benjamin and Adeline. She was also predeceased by her sister Audrey (Willey) Nelson.
Ruth’s memorial service will be held at 10:30AM on Monday May 13, 2024 at Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway (Rt129) Lynn, followed by burial at Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral from 10-10:30AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

Raymond R. Castiglione - August 15, 1924 - April 25, 2024

Obituary Preview: Raymond R. Castiglione, age 99, of Swampscott, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers. He was the beloved husband of Judith (Rosen) Castiglione, with whom he shared 60 wonderful years of marriage. Born in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Louis and Maria (Guido) Castiglione. He was raised in North Tonawanda, NY and had also lived in North Carolina for many years.
Raymond served in the United States Army during World War II. He studied at Syracuse University, and received his Juris Doctorate from Rutgers University. He spent his career writing legal contracts for the United States Government. Raymond was well liked by anyone who knew him and will be remembered as a fine human being.
He was beloved by his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was predeceased by three brothers and one sister.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 11AM in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

Claire D. (Girardin) Dion - January 31, 1940 - April 24, 2024

Obituary Preview: Claire D. (Girardin) Dion, 84, of Bridgton, ME, died Wednesday April 24, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Lynn to the late Arthur and Doris (Therrien) Girardin. Claire had lived in Lynn for many years, as well as Beverly, MA, and most recently in Bridgton, Maine with her husband of 23 years Ronald Guthenberg. Claire’s faith was strong and she was very active in the Catholic community and loved the connections she made over the years through her church and its extended community.
Claire was passionate about caring for others and while raising her family, she followed her dreams and attended Bunker Hill Community College and obtained her degree in nursing. She spent many years working with patients and caregivers helping them through their times in need. From labor and delivery to end-of-life, she brought the care and understanding that graced all those who had the privilege of her support.
Claire was also an avid volunteer and gave her time freely to programs such as Catholic Charities and Greater Lynn Mental Health, where she once served as president of the board. She was also known for taking in those in need, whether an elderly relative or young adult that needed a safe place, her home was always filled with love. Her volunteerism led to her being selected as a torch bearer for the 1996 Olympics. Her caring spirit also extended to animals, whether pets or wild, she loved them all and never missed an opportunity to contribute to their welfare.
Claire is survived by her husband Ronald Guthenberg of Bridgton, ME, her daughters; Christine Pierce and her husband David of Lynn, Kathryn Olson and her husband John of North Reading, Pamela Dion of Lynn, Michelle Gautreau and her husband David of North Reading, and Martha Marquis and her husband Robert of Lynn. She was Nana to her 10 grandchildren and Gigi to her 9 great grandchildren, who adored her immensely. In addition, her two step children Brant Guthenberg and his wife Jennifer of Douglas, Karen Magnifico and her husband Mark of Middleton, along with her 6 step-grandchildren.
Claire is also survived by her sisters, Ann McMahon and her husband Robert of Georgia, and Paula Belcher of Lynn, many nieces and nephews as well. She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother Charles Girardin.

Obituary Preview: Virginia E. (Brown) Richards, age 91, of Lynn, died peacefully at her home, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024 surrounded by her loving family, following a brief illness. She was the devoted wife of the late Leo A. Richards with whom she shared 57 years of marriage and predeceased her in June of 2007. Born in Lynn, in 1933, she was the daughter of the late Evelyn (Tibbetts) Spooner and the late Ed Spooner. She was raised and educated in Lynn and attended Lynn Classical High School. Virginia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed hosting holiday parties at her home on Cedar Brook Road, especially Christmas, crocheting and spending summers at their camp along the Piscassic River in Epping, NH. She also enjoyed trips to Laconia, New Hampshire with her daughter, son-in-law, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Virginia is survived by her loving daughters, Evelyn “Evie” Richards-Cashman and her husband James, of Lynn and Cynthia Nabozny and her late husband James of Rutland, VT; her grandchildren, Daniel Cashman and his partner Sam Chaplin of Haydenville, Elizabeth Cashman and her husband Sam Gaskin of Holyoke, Michael Nabozny and Pamela Nabozny both of Vermont and Hayes Salaverry and family of New York; her great-grandsons, Bruce Cashman and Emmett Gaskin and her nieces, nephews and cousins, including Phyllis Devaney. She was the sister of the late Ralph Brown, Jr. and his late wife Camille. She also leaves close family friends, Rick Kellett, Ruth Jenkins and Brian Beaton.
A Funeral Service will be held on Friday, May 3, 2024 at 12p.m. in the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129), Lynn. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn. Obituary Preview: Dennis K. DeLuties, age 74, of Beverly, passed away on Sunday, April 21, 2024 at his home. Born and raised in Lynn, he was the son of the late Rudolph J. “Rudy” and Alphretta (Balson) DeLuties. He was a graduate of Lynn English High School, class of 1967, and had lived in Lynn for the greater part of his life, before moving to Beverly 12 years ago.
Dennis had worked as a General Contractor for many years, and had also worked with the carpenters union. He was a member of the Italian Community Center in Beverly and the Beverly Elks Lodge. He loved traveling, fishing, darts and playing cards. His greatest joy came from time spent with his family, especially his beloved grandchildren.
He is survived by his two sons; Derrick DeLuties and his wife Michelle of Lynnfield, and Damon DeLuties and his wife Lisa of Middleton; their mother, Linda (DeMille) DeLuties of Lynn, his wife for many years; four grandchildren; Devin and Gavin DeLuties of Lynnfield and Alana and Davis DeLuties of Middleton; his brothers; Rudy DeLuties and his wife Sue of Lynn, and Bruce DeLuties of Saugus, as well as many extended family members.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2024 from 4-8PM in the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt 129), Lynn. His Funeral Mass will be on Wednesday, May 1, 2024 at 10 AM in St. Pius V Church, Lynn. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited.

Obituary Preview: James T. Barnard, 90, of Saugus, formerly of Lynn, died Saturday April 20, 2024 after a brief illness. James was born and raised in Lynn, the son of the late Wesley and Kathryn (Crudden) Barnard. He was the devoted husband of the late Ann Marie (Dolan) Barnard with whom he shared 51 years of marriage until her passing in 2004.
James attended Lynn public schools and graduated Lynn Classical Class of 1951. He served in the US Army from 1953-1955 and then worked at Masury Young Co. in Somerville for 10 years. James then worked at General Electric Aviation Department as a Manufacturing Systems Analyst for 30 years until his retirement. He was also a lifetime member of the Valladolid Council #70 Lynn Knights of Columbus.
James enjoyed vacationing in Florida and Palm Springs, CA. He was also an avid Boston sports fan. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
James is survived by his companion of 16 years Norma Barbanti, his children; Patricia Morelli and her husband Chuck, James Barnard and his wife Lisa, Kathryn Glowik and her husband Victor, his grandchildren; Craig Morelli, Kara Morelli Wells, Jeffrey Glowik and his wife Leanne, Stephanie Alognon and her husband Konzo, Dana Barnard, and his 7 great grandchildren.
His family wishes to thank the staff at Salem Hospital ICU for their care and compassion shown during his time with them.

Emily worked as an office manager for Walnut Hill Properties at Tufts University until her retirement. She was an avid reader and loved to watch movies, especially horror and sci-fi. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her loving husband, she is survived by her children, Richard Allard and his wife Susana, Daniel Allard and his wife Heidi, Derek Babine, and Nicole Murphy; her grandchildren, Makayla Allard, Lindsey Allard, Jack Allard, Maggie Murphy and Colton Murphy; her sisters, Lucy Briggs, Marie Obey and Jean Shadoff and her husband Michael; her sister-in-law, Barbara Mann as well as many nieces and nephews. Barbara was born in Lynn, MA, daughter of the late Nils and Lucille (Pendleton) Strom. She was raised and educated in Lynn, graduating from Lynn Classical High School in 1950. In her younger years, she worked at the GE in Lynn, then once having her children she shifted her focus to caring for them and devoted herself to her family. Over the years she volunteered her time to various organizations, including the continuation of her class reunions, she was an active member of St. Pius V Church, participating St. Pius Lady’s Sodality where she served as secretary. She worked at the polls during elections in the City of Lynn for many years.
She was a passionate golfer, having been a member of Gannon Golf Club for over 16 years and Far Corners for 15 years. She was also avid bowler, and was a founding member of the GE Women’s bowling league, and also bowled for the Shoemaker Post in Lynn. She was known for her great dinners and shenanigans with her “Lady Bugs” and the “Tuesday Night Club” which consisted of playing cards with her high school, life-long friends. The most important aspect of her life was her family. She was a devoted mother, grandmother, always being there for her family, whether it was supporting them at every game or just being there for them, her love and support never wavered. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her 5 children, Paul Crowley & Eileen, Richard Crowley & Joan, Patty Roderick & John, David Crowley & Tricia, Kevin Crowley & Heather; her 11 grandchildren, Matthew Crowley, Breanna (Crowley) Sozio, Chris Roderick, Ryan Roderick, Stephen Crowley, Patrick Crowley, Michael Crowley, Sean Crowley, Kelsey (Crowley) Reid, Isabelle Crowley, Ava Crowley; her 3 great-grandchildren, June Crowley, Madison & Makensie Sozio, 2-Sister- in- Laws, Carla Strom & Mary Kelter Strom. Helen was born on Janaury 17, 1927, in Boston, daughter of the late John and Petronela Ziemba. She was raised and educated in Dorchester. She was a homemaker for many years, tending to the needs of her family, but did work par-time at the Sears coffee shop in Saugus for over 20 years.
She was a past member of the General Casmir American Legion Auxiliary 269 in Boston, and also the Polish American Club in Hollywood, FL, where she would spend her winters. Aside from caring for her family, she enjoyed making various Polish dishes, including Pierogis.
She is survived by her children, Thomas Panasuk of Lynn, Stephen Panasuk of Tewksbury, Janet Spirito of Tewksbury; her grandchildren, David and Donna Spirito, Daniel and Tracey Spirito, Melissa and David Mitchell; her great-grandchildren, Ashley and Brooke. She was predeceased by her siblings, Wanda Jesonis, Anthony Ziemba. And Edward Ziemba.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16 from 10AM – 12PM at the Solimine Funeral Home, 426 Broadway(Rt. 129), followed by a service in the funeral home at 12PM. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Saugus.

Obituary Preview: William “Bill” Richardson, age 78, of Lynn, died at his home on Thursday, April 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with prostate cancer. He was the devoted husband of Linda (Avellino) Richardson with whom he shared over 55 years of marriage. Born in Brockton, in 1945, he was the son of the late Florence (Vigorita) DiStasio. He was raised in East Boston by his grandparents, the late Eddie and Josephine Melchionda, and he attended East Boston High School. Bill worked as a machinist for the MBTA for 30 years and following his retirement, he worked as a custodian/boilerman for Lynn Public Schools for an additional 14 years. An avid sports fan, he was a longtime volunteer at West Lynn American Little League and Babe Ruth Baseball. He was a manager for WLALL for over 10 years, winning multiple City Series Championships, and for Babe Ruth WLA for over 5 years. He was a manager for the Salem Little League Tournament, representing the City of Lynn for 3 years and was a manager of the Shub Tournament Little League - Lynn Baseball for 3 years, also winning a Championship during that time. He was credited with introducing the T-Ball program at WLA and establishing the Babe Ruth 13-15 year old program at WLA. He enjoyed supporting the Boston teams, but none more than the Red Sox and also loved fishing. His greatest joy was spending time with his family and many friends, but there was nothing he enjoyed more than being a grandfather.
In addition to his wife Linda, Bill is survived by his loving sons, Keith Richardson and his wife Phyllis of Beverly and Brian Richardson of Costa Mesa, CA; his beloved grandchildren, Ashley, Samantha, Andrew, Lauren and Annabella; his sister Dottie D’Italia of Revere and his many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Sharlene Berry.
A Funeral will be held on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 9a.m. from the SOLIMINE FUNERAL HOME, 426 Broadway (Rt. 129), Lynn followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Pius V Church at 10a.m. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Mausoleum, Malden. James served in the US Navy from 1950-1955, with active duty on the USS Columbus from 1953-1955.
He was a civil engineer for over 20 years at Brown & Root in Houston, TX. He worked on numerous projects including; construction of USAF bases in Morocco and Spain, highway and bridge projects in South America, and gas-oil separation facilities in Alaska and Saudi Arabia. While working in Spain, James became fluent in Spanish, and he ran with the bulls in Pamplona. He also shared drinks with Ernest Hemingway and James Mitchener at an outdoor café.
James was a Steward at St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Lynn, as well as Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Port Charlotte, FL. He was also a member of the American Legion post 110 in Port Charlotte, FL. He enjoyed all genres of music from classical to jazz and he was a season ticket holder at Sarasota Opera. Along with his passion for engineering and building, he enjoyed painting and coin and stamp collecting.
James is survived by his nephews; Bruce Murray of San Diego, CA and Kevin Murray of Acworth, GA, his cousin Dean Kyrios of Washington, his best friend Basil Manias, Fr. George Tsoukalas and many friends in the St. George Community, Monica Vallee and many friends in Florida. He was predeceased by his parents, his sister Dorothy Kyros, sister Thalia Murray, and his Kyrios cousins; Helen, Ted, Lou, Jim and Alex.

He was the son-in-law of Joel and Arlene Fishkind and the brother-in-law of Eric, Matthew and Scott Fishkind. He also leaves behind many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Fred graduated from Lynnfield High School in 1982 and continued his education at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He majored in business and retailing. He moved to New York City, where he worked in the clothing industry for Lord and Taylor, Brooks Brothers, Bergdorf Goodman, John Stuart, Hugo Boss and John Varvatos where he was a Senior Vice President. He traveled extensively to Italy and France in search of the finest fabrics. He enjoyed his work and had a long career in his field.
Fred was an avid sports fan of all Boston teams, especially the New England Patriots. The only teams he enjoyed more were the teams his sons played on, some of which he coached.
Fred’s funeral took place on Long Island at the Star of David Memorial Chapel on Thursday, April 11, 2024. He was buried in Mount Ararat Cemetery in Lindenhurst, NY. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Knights of Columbus Hall, 177 Lynnfield St, Lynn from 5PM-8PM following the 4PM Mass at Our Lady of the Assumption Church, 17 Grove St, Lynnfield.
