Mary Ann Stolarczyk - July 29, 1935 - May 13, 2024

Departed: 05/13/2024 (Marion)
Obituary Preview: Mary Ann Stolarczyk, age 88 of Marion, Ohio, passed away on May 13, 2024 at the Kingston Residence facility. Her husband, Ted and her son, Michael were by her side as she passed peacefully. Our heart-felt thanks to Marion General Hospital, Kingston, and Capital City Hospice for their care and support during her last few days of life.
She was born in Wheeling, WV on July 26, 1935 to the late Louis and Else (Dennis) Sanzeri. Mary Ann is survived by her husband and son, along with her sister, Jean DiClemente and her nephews Robert, and David. Her son Michael is married to Pamela (Lissmann) Stolarczyk, and they have three children, Maxwell, Nathaniel, and Eva Pilar.
She graduated from Triadelphia High School in 1953 and then attended West Liberty University where she graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education in 1956. During her time at WLU, Mary Ann was crowned Miss Hilltopper in 1955. She met Ted at West Liberty, and after her graduation, they were married.
Mary Ann and Ted moved to Marion in 1956. Both joined the Marion City School system where Mary Ann taught for over 25 years. During this time, she started working at Marion’s CATV hosting the shows, “Wear to Go” and “Potpourri.” She also covered high school proms, the Ohio State Fair, the Marion County Fair, and special events.
In 1972, as Mary Ann Michaels, her television career took off when she joined Dayton’s WLWD (now WDTN) as a featured reporter. 1974 presented an opportunity to join the Columbus, OH NBC affiliate, WCMH. During her seven years at WCMH Mary Ann wrote, produced, and anchored half-hour features, daily mid-day newscasts, plus multiple five minute “cut-ins” during NBC’s national broadcast of the Today Show.
From 1981 to 1987 she returned to Marion to be the news director and host a radio talk show for WMRN. Featured TV stints with WSYX, WOSU, and WCMH completed her television career. She was very proud to have been nominated for multiple Emmy Awards, and she won an Associated Press Award while at WCMH and an Associated Press Enterprise Reporting Award while with WMRN.
She served on multiple boards during her career, from Board of Governors of the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences to United Press International Board, along with a director level role with The Ohio Associated Press, and ultimately a founding board member of the inaugural Marion Popcorn Festival.
An avid reader, curious mind, and wonderful sense of humor propelled her to see the world, but not forget where she came from during her time in our hearts and minds. Whether she was on television, on the radio, or teaching in the classroom, she wanted to share knowledge, be a catalyst of thought, and ultimately share the gift of enlightenment. To her core, she was an educator no matter the venue or setting.
Lastly, she loved to be a part of her extended family of sisters and friends, from Ellen, Nicki, Connie, Joan, Meridith, and Lynn in Marion…to Ted’s siblings, Emily, Lee, Virginia, Darlene, Jo, Sophie, and nieces Karen & Kathy in West Virginia.
She will be missed by all, but she has left a legacy that will not be forgotten.
Services honoring Mary Ann’s life will be observed privately by her family.

Nina Jane Lucas - October 08, 1950 - May 10, 2024

Departed: 05/10/2024 (Marion)
Obituary Preview: Nina Jane Lucas, age 73, of Marion, went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 10, 2024, at home surrounded by her loving family following a courageous two year battle with cancer.
On October 8, 1950, Nina was born in Marion, Ohio, the youngest of five children of the late Rev. Park “Daily” and Cora Zella (Beaver) Hite. She learned her love for her Lord and Savior at an early age, being raised in her father’s primitive Baptist church in Brush Ridge. She also attended Ridgedale Schools, graduating from Ridgedale High School in the class of 1968.
Furthering her education, Nina earned a four year bachelors degree in accounting from the University of Findlay in three years, graduating in 1971. Not only did she complete her degree in three years, she did so while working at the library and tutoring students to pay her own way through school. Every penny she borrowed from her father for school, she paid back…with interest! Next, she earned her Certified Public Accountant license in Columbus.
Growing up, Nina met a young man, Michael Richard Lucas, whose father was installing farm tiles for Rev. Hite and family. They would connect again, going on one date in high school, but Nina was too focused on school to date. Once she accomplished her goals of completing school and becoming an accountant, she finally allowed herself to pursue the young man she met growing up. After a one year courtship, Nina and Michael were married on April 13, 1974. Together they have cherished their 50 years of marriage, recently sharing a special golden anniversary. They also are proud parents of two daughters: Connie and Judy.
Extremely thorough, Nina took pride in her work as an accountant during her 51 year career, from 1971 to 2022. She worked at several places in the Marion community; with two of her favorites being McDaniel Automotive, where she worked for almost 10 years, and Showplace Rent to Own, where she worked for 15 years. She had a great reputation in the business community, where everyone knew her books would be pristine, meticulous, and exact.
Very faithful, Nina was an active member of the Cornerstone Alliance Church, where she loved helping with church activities however she could. By far and away, Nina’s favorite time of year was always Christmas. She collected nativity scenes all year long, and would deck her entire house with her favorite nativity scenes and Christmas ornaments. She truly felt the gift of salvation Jesus Christ provided her, always proclaiming “I am who God says I am: LOVED, BLESSED, CHOSEN, ADOPTED, ACCEPTED, REDEEMED, FORGIVEN.” Ephesians 1:3-8 (paraphrased).
Always keeping busy, Nina loved to sew and put together puzzles. She loved things that helped keep her mind sharp. She also had a great sense of humor, always coming up with witty one liners to keep you on your toes.
Nina was a very strong willed woman, and you never had to guess what was on her mind. She believed in being forthright, direct, and very punctual. She also loved her family with all her might, and she was very proud and protective of her daughters.
She will be dearly missed by her beloved husband, Michael Lucas; two daughters: Connie Sue Lucas and Judy Marie Riley; a sister, Elaine (Tom) Lewis; a brother-in-law, Edward Reed; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Including her parents, Nina was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Virgil (Marjorie) Hite; and two sisters and one brother-in-law: Carolyn (Merle) Sarber, and Florence Reed.
Her family will greet friends from 4 – 7 pm on Friday, May 17, 2024, at Snyder Funeral Homes, DENZER Chapel, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services honoring her life and praising God will be held at 10 am on Saturday, at Cornerstone Alliance Church in Marion (address below), with Pastor Peter Rufener officiating. Burial will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery in Brush Ridge. Family and friends are then invited to return to the church for a meal the church is so graciously providing.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cornerstone Alliance Church, 2010 Marion-Marysville Rd, Marion, OH 43302 (https://www.cornerstonemarion.org/give).
On behalf of her family, they would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to everyone at Cornerstone Alliance Church, especially Pastor Peter Rufener, Hospice of Ohio, Snyder Funeral Homes, and the Apostolic Gospel Church.

Mary G Hatfield - March 13, 1949 - May 02, 2024

Departed: 05/02/2024 (Marion)
Obituary Preview: Mary Hatfield, age 75 (allegedly), passed away May 2, 2024. Born March 13, 1949 in Scioto County, Ohio.
Mary is loved dearly and will never be forgotten for her persistent fib that she was “not-a-day-over 39,” her matching flannel pajama collection, and her uncanny ability to never remember how to use her smartphone yet succinctly recall each of her cherished possessions that vanished without a trace, namely, the infamous yellow rubber duck shower curtain and 211 wicker baskets.
Prior to retiring from Kroger, where she met the love of her life Jim “The Saint” Hatfield in aisle 7; Mary’s full-time job was bolting down her remaining wicker baskets, traveling the country to watch her granddaughter’s gymnastics meets and grandson’s baseball games, and relishing in the fact that she raised some pretty awesome kids herself.
Mary will always be remembered for her unconditional love for her perfect grandchildren: Makenna Basore, Drake Cole, Knova Meade, and Lyrik Meade and her nearly perfect children, collectively known as “yuns kids” or whatever name she yelled last. For future genealogy purposes, their official names are: Cassandra (Meade) Cole, the bossy one who WOULD HAVE, BUT DID NOT dispose of infamous said shower curtain, Brant Meade, her favorite son who MAY HAVE, unknowingly helped dispose of said shower curtain, Wyatt Meade, her other favorite son, who WOULD NEVER DREAMED of disposing of said shower curtain, and Harry Meade, her other favorite son, who MOST DEFINITELY did it.
Mary will be dearly missed by her beloved sisters Sherry Debord, Christine Blair, and Cindy (Steve) Keller, despite the sibling rivalry over which Sister is the tallest.
Mary is preceded in death by her father, Boone Blair, daughter Angela, son Dwight, her incredibly devoted husband, Jim Hatfield, her sassy Mother-in-Law, Clara Hatfield, sisters Edna Morris and Martha Blair, and her baby brother, Terry “Joe” Blair.
A private celebration of life will be held at the convenience of the family and under direct supervision of, you guessed it… the bossy child.

David Griffith Grimes - April 20, 1938 - March 29, 2024

Departed: 03/29/2024 (Marion)
Obituary Preview: David Griffith Grimes, age 85, of Fort Wayne, Indiana, and formerly of Marion County, died peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2024, at the VA Northern Indiana Health Care System of Fort Wayne surrounded by his loving family.
On April 20, 1938, David was born at Marion City Hospital in Marion, Ohio, the youngest of four sons of the late Alfred Griffith and Sarah Ruth (Boger) Grimes. He grew up outside of Harpster where he graduated from Harpster High School in the Class of 1957.
In 1961, David was drafted to serve his beloved country in the US Army. He served in the Infantry Brigade and was stationed in the Panama Canal.
After two years of service, David was honorably discharged from the US Army, and returned home to LaRue, Ohio. While in LaRue, he worked for the Water Company and Evans Farm Equipment. He also served as a volunteer Sherriff Deputy in LaRue in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s.
In 1972, David moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana, where he first worked at Colonial Crest Nursing Home as their maintenance supervisor. Then, in 1980, he started at Wagner Electric, where he would spend the rest of his career. During his 25 years with the company, he first re-wired their industrial motors. Lastly, he was their delivery driver until his retirement in 2005. He also was a member of the South Gate Masonic Lodge #731 and he was a proud supporter of the Indiana Sherriff’s Association.
With a love for camping, David spent as much time at his camper at Cottonwood Resort on Marble Lake in Quincy, Michigan, as he could. He spent most of his weekends there for twenty plus years, where he also loved taking his boat out on the lake. Many of his family’s fondest memories with him are from the time they spent with him there on Marble Lake.
Despite living in Indiana, for Dave his home state of Ohio was where his heart always was. He loved watching sports, especially his beloved Ohio State Buckeyes and any other Ohio teams. He also had a lifelong love for music, and could teach himself to play any instrument he put his mind to. Over the years he enjoyed playing the accordion, banjo, trombone, and organ. He also in his younger years enjoyed photography and was always trying to capture life’s beautiful moments.
Incredibly handy, David could find a way to fix or repair just about anything. He was often his family and friends first call if they ever needed a hand with a home or car repair project. He loved tinkering around in his garage, working on his pride and joy, his 1966 Dodge Dart. He also loved having breakfast most every morning and sharing special Friday night dinners with his best friends, Tim and Mona Dennie.
The patriarch of the family, David took pride in being there for his daughter and his three granddaughters. His proudest moments came when he was able to be a father figure for his granddaughters, walking them down the aisle to give their hands over to his beloved grandson-in-laws. He also deeply loved his three brothers, and always tried to remain in contact with his nieces and nephews. One of his favorite ways to show his family how much he cared, was to send them a birthday card – and it always had to be a funny one! He truly was an ornery one, always joking around and teasing his family mercilessly. And while David was very independent, his obituary wouldn’t be complete without mentioning his four-legged best friend and companion, his cat “Toby”.
Left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Pamela (William Rish) Stone of Marion; three granddaughters: Amber (Scott) Cameron, Stephanie (Zach) Wheeler, and Bethany (Arti) Sanidad; 7 great-grandchildren: Macie Cameron, Nora, Asher, and Landyn Wheeler, and Christian, Kaden, and Ethan Sanidad; numerous nieces and nephews; and his best friends: Tim and Mona Dennie, and Toby.
Including his parents, David was preceded in death by his three brothers: Alan, William, and Donald Grimes.
His family will greet friends from Noon – 1 pm on Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Snyder Funeral Homes, DENZER Chapel, 360 E. Center St., Marion. Services honoring his life will follow there at 1 pm, with Celebrant Galen McLeod officiating. Burial with military honors provided by the Marion County United Veterans Council will follow in Grand Prairie Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System (https://www.va.gov/northern-indiana-health-care/work-with-us/volunteer-or-donate/).
On behalf of his family, they would like to extend a heartfelt “Thank you” to everyone at the VA Northern Indiana Healthcare System of Fort Wayne, especially his doctor and their ICU team for their special care of their Dad and Grandpa. They also want to thank Tim and Mona Dennie for always being there for David.

Michael Jason Williams - January 08, 1975 - March 06, 2024

Departed: 03/06/2024 (Marion)
Obituary Preview: It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Michael “Jason” Williams, a beloved husband, father, friend, and devoted member of the Pleasant School community. Jason departed from this world on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, camaraderie, and laughter. He was only 49 years old.
On January 8, 1975, Jason was born in Marion, Ohio. Much of his childhood was filled with BMX freestyle bike competitions, traveling all over to compete. He also moved several times growing up, graduating from Marion Harding High School in the class of 1993. During high school, he worked at Godfather’s Pizza where he was blessed to have a great manager and mentor to learn from that would inspire him throughout his future career.
Shortly following graduation, Jason started his career in the car sales business at Mathews Acura/Honda in Marion. Conveniently, he would go just down the road during his lunch break to get his hair cut at Angle’s Salon, where he eventually got the courage to ask his hairdresser on a date, Rebecca “Becky” Jerome. From there, the rest is history. After a two year courtship, Jason and Becky were married on June 28, 2003. Together they shared twenty years of marriage, and lovingly raised two children: Dane and Emerson.
Jason was well known for his unwavering dedication to his profession. For years, he worked tirelessly in the automotive industry, where his commitment and work ethic earned him respect and admiration from colleagues and customers alike. As a car salesman, Jason's passion for his craft shone through in every interaction, earning him a reputation as someone who could be trusted and relied upon. He worked his way up from being a car salesman to finance manager, then to general manager. In addition to Mathews Acura/Honda of Marion, he worked at Mathews Chrysler-Dodge Jeep Ram of Mount Vernon, and Taylor Kia of Findlay and Lima. He worked tirelessly to help ensure the success of the car dealership and all of his co-workers whom he cared dearly for.
In the rare moments when Jason wasn’t hard at work, he went to his favorite pastime of watching movies. He was a movie buff in every way, with some of his favorites being 300 and Goonies, and his whole family loved geeking out to Game of Thrones.
To say Jason was a fan of The Ohio State University football program would be a huge understatement. He was one of the most passionate OSU Buckeye nuts you could ever meet. He lived and breathed for game days, his enthusiasm and fervor was unmatched as he cheered on his beloved team. The only thing he was more passionate about were his kids, and he loved every second of watching Dane and Emerson play sports.
Over the years, Jason shared some wonderful vacations with his family and friends. A standout vacation was their trip to Kauai, Hawaii, and he loved his annual trips to Las Vegas with his best friends. Jason and Becky also shared a love for trying new restaurants, keeping an eye out for the new restaurant craze, especially in the Short North. You wouldn’t think Jason would love trying new restaurants though, given he was a McDonalds breakfast and junk food addict his family joked.
Taking pride in everything he owned, Jason loved keeping a nice home for his family and he would even pitch in with Becky at decorating. He may have been a little too particular about his yard. He also had a bit of a shoe, sunglasses, and ¾ sleeve length shirt obsession.
Despite his over the top sarcastic sense of humor, Jason truly was a “fantastic friend”. He had an extraordinary ability to make others feel valued and appreciated, and his genuine kindness left an indelible mark on the lives of those around him. He also had a knack for injecting humor into any situation. His laughter was infectious, and his jokes will be remembered fondly by all who had the privilege of hearing them. And whenever it was time to say goodbye, he always got in favorite line… “Hey, I’m glad you got to see me today.” He also loved his canine companions, having many pups he cherished: Quinn, Charlie and River.
Jason Williams leaves behind a void that cannot be filled, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for his hard work, his friendship, his humor, his passion for sports, and his love for life.
Left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Becky Williams; two adored children: Dane and Emerson Williams; sister, Ashley Carey; aunt, Jan Stiffler; mother and father-in-law: Sharon and Noel Jerome; sister-in-law, Megan (Eric) Queen; best friends: Bill Willis and Eric Muhlenthaler; and countless more dear friends.
Jason was preceded in death by his father, Michael Joseph Williams.
His family will greet friends from 3 – 7 pm on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, at the Cornerstone Alliance Church, 2010 Marion-Marysville Rd (SR 4), Marion. A celebration of Jason’s life will also be held there at 11 am on Thursday, with Pastor Peter Rufener officiating, where friends and family will gather to honor his memory and share stories of the joy and laughter he brought into their lives.
For those unable to attend Jason's services, you can watch the live stream of his services on the Snyder Funeral Homes, Denzer Chapel, Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/DenzerChapelSFH/) which will start just prior to his services.
Memorial contributions may be made to Pleasant Athletic Boosters (https://my.cheddarup.com/c/donation-in-loving-memory-of-jason-williams?cart=9854406a-771e-4ac8-9d59-3f64b5638b84%21%2174389975), or to the Marion Area Humane Society (https://mahspets.org/ways-to-give/), causes very close to his heart.

Richard Eugene Fetter - January 21, 1933 - February 25, 2024

Departed: 02/25/2024 (Marion)
Obituary Preview: Richard Eugene Fetter, age 91 of Marion, passed away on Sunday February 25, 2024. On January 21, 1933, Richard "Dick" was born in Marion, Ohio, the eldest of three children to the late Wilbert "Jim" and Mildred Louise (Dietsch) Fetter. On October 14, 1951 he was united in marriage to Connie May Sturgeon of Ostrander, Ohio and celebrated 72 years together. She preceded him in death ten days earlier.
Richard “Dick” attended Claridon School where the principal once asked him, "Are you ever going to take school seriously?" He responded, "I don't have to. I'm going to be a farmer." Richard was a self-made man starting with very little. He met Connie who was the love of his life at a dance in Richwood. He said, "When we dance together it is as though we are alone on the floor and floating on a breeze." The two of them were married in the living room of his parents' home and lived with them until they were able to get on their feet. Dick worked hard on the farm and supplemented his income welding at Fairfield.
Dick created a rich family legacy by devoting himself to a lifelong career of farming in Marion County. Through innovation and problem solving he was able to modernize the family farm. His firsts included high-boy sprayers, track farm equipment and hog contract feed buildings. He loved the challenge of raising hogs. His "handle" on the CB was "Hog King." Dick's second mission in life of carrying on the family name was realized through the births of his four sons who embraced his work ethic and learned from his mentoring. Dick was always working and building to the point of obsession. All projects had to be done to perfection which included the best yield, straightest rows, excellent drainage, or trimming trees. He could be found outside daily well into his elder years planting gardens, cleaning ditches, burning brush or performing any duties that would help on the farm.
Dick had a very colorful personality that easily attracted others. His vocabulary may not have been polished but he was very intelligent and street savvy. His talents for fixing things helped many other farmers who had problems they could not fix. Dick was a good provider and disciplinarian. He was known for his honesty no matter how brutal and his authenticity staying true to who he was. Dick was raised Christian and believed God was with him and often talked to God while working alone outside.
Dick lived life to the fullest. In his younger days he loved speed boats, water skiing, bowling and roller skating. He could live extravagantly or meagerly. He drove Oldsmobiles, Pontiacs, Cadillacs and Lincolns but didn't trade them for years. He owned a 33 foot twin screw fishing boat decked out with all the latest equipment; but, then, created his own worm farm and hauled his own gas to save money. Connie and he often recounted their experiences of riding their Gold Wing Motorcycle on several adventures. They enjoyed camping at Hidden Lakes and then wintered for many years in Florida at King Richard's Court near Big Bend. He even tried golf in his retirement years and Connie often bragged of his hole in one.
Connie and Dick had a close knit group of friends who often joined them at dances and parties at the Cardington Legion, the Marion Moose, or other establishments that offered live music. They were known by the bands as "the group that brought the party." Richard had a contagious laugh and an unforgettable smile that became well known in the community especially the Village of Waldo. He could often be found at the G&R on rainy days visiting with buddies, playing cards, smoking EL Verso cigars and drinking his favorite 7&7.
Richard is survived by his children: Brandy (Patricia) Fetter of Florida, Sandra (John) Houser, Wyatt (Susan) Fetter, both of Marion, Richard (Denise) Fetter of West Mansfield and William Fetter of Marion; 16 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and a sister, Jerry (David) Sandman.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, one great grandchild, and his brother, Tom Fetter.
A private graveside service will be held for the family. The Snyder Funeral Homes of Marion are honored to serve the Fetter Family; condolences may be expressed to the family by visiting www.SnyderFuneralHomes.com

Clara Mae Wiseman - May 08, 1927 - February 24, 2024

Departed: 02/24/2024 (Marion)
Obituary Preview: Clara Mae Wiseman, age 96, of Waldo, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at home with her loving family by her side.
On May 8, 1927, Clara Mae was born in Waldo, Ohio, the oldest of four daughters of the late Harles Ray Moyer and Marguerette (McKendrick) Moyer. Growing up singing with her sisters, they loved singing and performing for the Waldo community, where they were known as the Moyer Sisters.
While attending Waldo High School, Clara Mae fell for one an upper classman, Marion G. “Speedy” Wiseman Jr., and from there the rest is history. They were married on August 26, 1943, and shared 63 years of marriage. He preceded her in death on December 15, 2006.
While her children were growing up, Clara Mae was a loving homemaker for her family. Once her children were in school, she went to work for the General Telephone Company (GTE) in 1956. She quickly worked her way up to being a billing supervisor, where she trained hundreds of staff members the ins and outs of billing with the company. She was endearingly known as “Mother” to all of her trainees, who all loved her. She officially retired in 1988, after 32 years of dedication to GTE.
Very faithful, Clara Mae was an active member of the St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Waldo for most of her life. She loved sharing her lifelong passion for music there in their church choir. She also was a member of the Creators Guild and the Waldo Mother’s Club.
As a family, they cherished their fishing trips to Hessel, Michigan, where the guys would fish for pike in Lake Huron in the Upper Peninsula. Then, they would bring their catch back to their amazing cook, Clara Mae. She would fry up the most delicious meals for them on the lake. They enjoyed this trip for 30 years in a row. She and Speedy enjoyed spending part of their winters in Florida visiting with their daughter, Carole. Carole also looked after Mom for several winters after Dad passed.
