Obituary Preview: Bonnie Grace Waybright, 77, passed away Friday, April 22, 2022, at Highland Oaks Nursing Home in McConnelsville. She was born November 5, 1944 in Harman, WV to the late Sampson S. and Grayce Shears Cooper. Bonnie was an over the road truck driver and was one of the first women to work in an underground coal mine and is recorded in the Library of Congress. She was a member of the United Mine Works Union and enjoyed bowling.
Surviving are her daughter Michelle R. Huber; brother Tim Cooper; two grandchildren: Adrienne N. Huber and Elizabeth Huber; and four great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by three sisters: Arlene Cynthia Cooper Brown, Helen Collette Cooper Bennett and Margurite Deloris Cooper Vance.

Esther is survived by her children: David (Mandy) Dady, Marlin Rogers, Rita Dusenberry and Deborah (Brian) Wixtron; sisters: Evelyn Wilson, Julie Grilbreath, Shirley Wheeler and Janet Smith; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter Sheryl Dady; brothers: Herman Gebhart, Jerry Gebhart, Edwin Gebhart and Dewey Gebhart; sisters: Lavonne Marble, Doris Goodwin; Ruby Ethel and Eleanor Black; and two great grandchildren: Aliva Mae Dady and Jack Thomas Dady.

Obituary Preview: David William Elliott of Zanesville, formerly of Kittanning, PA, passed away peacefully at Genesis Hospice Morrison House on Friday, April 15, 2022.
David was born in Kittanning, PA on March 31, 1955. He was the son of the late William and Mary Schaeffer Elliott. David graduated from Kittanning High School and Muskingum College. He retired from Brockway Glass/Owens-Illinois. His hobbies included sketching/doodling, everything trains and anything to do with space exploration. David was a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He is survived by his wife Melissa; daughters: Amy (Kevin) Graap, Lisa Elliott and Terry Sellars and step granddaughter Jemma; sister Joan of Shelocta, PA; family friend Shelly Rosborough; beloved dog Dash; several brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson Ashe Arai Elliott (Sellars).

Obituary Preview: Kyle David Nicholson 34, of New Concord, passed away tragically April 15, 2022. He was born February 20, 1988, to Cheryl Goslin (Byron) Gorsky and Kelly (Kelli) Nicholson. Kyle was a 2006 graduate of John Glenn High School and attended College. He loved playing and watching sports, especially football. He loved the outdoors and had a strong Christian belief. His family was his life.
In addition to his parents, he was survived by his son, Carter David Nicholson; Carter’s mother, Kerianne James; brothers, Bryan Butler, Cody Nicholson and Cody Gorsky; sisters, Amber Nicholson, Kirsten Harris, Jocelyn Parker and Cheyenne Strain; a grandmother, Vicki Pierce and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Kyle was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mary and Richard Gummere, Joseph Pierce; great grandparents June and Shorty Dillon.

Peggy is survived by her son Keith (Melissa) Riley; stepchildren James Riley, Janice Miller and Darla Flinn; one sister Betty Hohman; grandchildren Erika (Todd) Sterling, Jake Riley, Jordan Riley, Blayne Riley and Haylin Semran; numerous other step grandchildren.

Obituary Preview: Evans Spencer Jr. 89, peacefully passed away Thursday April 14, 2022, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 26, 1932, in Belhaven North Carolina, to the late Evans Spencer Sr. and Martha Ann Lovick Spencer.  He was a 1951 graduate of Belhaven High School in Belhaven, North Carolina and graduated with honors from Zane State (Formerly Muskingum County Technical College) in 1971.   He served nine years protecting our freedom in the United States Air Force, followed by a long career in the Federal Aviation Administration. He was the Chief of the Zanesville Municipal Airport in the early 1970’s.
He was active in the NAACP, held positions in several Churches, board member of Family Children Services, Altoona, Pennsylvania and other government related and civic organizations in various locations.  He loved music, reading and watching sports especially basketball.
He is survived by his loving, devoted caring wife of 25 years, Vera J. Brown Spencer; daughters, Rebecca Spencer and Michele (John) Wright; sons, Danny (Teresa) Windley, Evans (Teresa) Spencer III, Shelton R. Spencer and Tyron C. (Lottie) Spencer. Also are step-sons Irie D. Hughes Jr. (Vickie Tyson) and Randy (Brenda) Hughes, as well as several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Michael T. Spencer and seven siblings.
Family requests memorial contributions be directed to St. Jude’s Children Hospital or Genesis Hospice.

Barb was born in Zanesville on June 6, 1960 to Henry and Martha McCormick Shepler. She earned a Bachelor’s degree from Ohio University in Nutrition and a Master’s degree from Muskingum University in Early Childhood Education.  She was employed by The Ohio State University. Barb enjoyed the outdoors especially walking, volleyball, hiking, and kayaking. Barb’s greatest joy was her loving family.
In addition to her mother she is survived by two sons Bryan Schley and Matthew (Natalie) Schley, the love of her life Rod Schley,  two brothers Gerald (Linette) Shepler and Steven Shepler, three sisters Marilyn (Scott) DeMattei, Susan (Mark) Auckerman, and Lynda (Doug) Miller, nieces and nephews: Katie Hooper (Paul) Bailey, Adam (Staci) Hooper, Sarah (Hank) Straty, Tyler Downs, Jesse Auckerman, Alyssa (Brad) Thomas, and Seth Miller, several great nieces and nephews and very special friends Chris, Juna, Maddie, Ty, and Pax Garber.
She will be reunited in Heaven by her Father Henry Shepler.

Dave is survived by his wife of 39 years Debbie Bronkar Greiner whom he married June 26, 1982; his sons Dustin (April) Greiner and Devin (Megan) Greiner; his special grandsons, Ayden Greiner and Cohen Greiner; his sister-in-law’s, Lace Greiner and Jayne Sparks; a brother-in-law, Terry Savage; the crew in Sonora; his Aunt Bell; and his special dog and companion Ari.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by two sisters, Patty Greiner and Pam Savage and a brother Doug Greiner.
Dave taught his sons the art of carpentry. He loved his grandsons very much, loved teasing them and watching them play baseball. He enjoyed his sports conversations with Ralph. His favorite thing to do was golf at Vista Golf Course with all the guys, especially Red and Purkey and have backyard conversations with John and Aubrey.

She volunteered at Genesis Hospital for 20 years and was an avid reader and gardener. She enjoyed solo white water canoeing, mountain biking and spending time with nature outdoors.
She is survived by her husband Terry Curtin; brother Don (Beth) Dalrymple; sister Darla (Alan) Gore; nephew Joe Dalrymple; and nieces: Laura Hazzard and Beth Morrison.

Dr. Michael F. Morgan - September 03, 1939 - April 05, 2022

Obituary Preview: Dr.  Michael F. Morgan, 82 of Zanesville passed away on April 5, 2022. He was born September 3, 1939 in Provo, Utah to the late Ralph Morgan and Elizabeth Fitzgerald Morgan. Michael was a graduate of Provo High School, 1961 graduate of Brigham Young University and a 1966 graduate of Western Reserve Dental School. He was owner of his family dental practice from1966 to 2017. He was always an entrepreneur, starting his first business at the age of 8, which was selling earthworms and later, selling eggs, mowing lawns, and selling car parts. Michael was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter-Day Saints where he was a Bishop for eight years, teaching Sunday School and served in Cambodia as a missionary. He was Silver Beaver in the Boy Scouts and served on the Board, President of the American Cancer Society, Toast Masters, and board member of Zandex Health Care Corporation. Michael loved to hunt turkey, deer and bear and loved to go to Canada on fishing trips. He loved his children and supported them in school, his patients, people and he never met a stranger. He was known for his green thumb, love of music (including whistling), love of animals, and supporter of the arts.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Lee Thatcher Morgan; children: Michelle (Mark) Wahl, Christine Laulusa, Tamara (Shawn) Stickler, Deborah (Max) Gay, Michael W.B. Morgan, David Matthew (Amy) Morgan and Victoria Morgan (Russell) Hill; grandchildren: Elizabeth Wahl, Mark Wahl, Rebekah (Josh) Jamison, Benjamin Wahl, Sarah Wahl, MaryAnn (Thomas) Jamieson, Rachel Wahl, Daniel Wahl, Matthew (Katie) Laulusa, Rachel (Caleb) Debenham, Ammon (Jenifer) Laulusa, Emma Laulusa, Michael L. (Stacey) Stickler, J. Morgan Stickler, Davis M. Stickler, Alta Gay, Chloe Gay, Jenna Gay, Peter Morgan, Abigail Morgan, Katherine Morgan and Georgiana Hill; great grandchildren: Makoa Laulusa, Aleki Laulusa, Anne Marie Debenham, Amelia Jamison and Jane M. Laulusa.

He was an avid garden tractor puller and engine builder for many years. He owned and operated Hopewell Horsepower. He served our country and protected our freedom in the United States Army.
He is survived by his significant other Nona Jones; four sons: Robert W. (Heather) Jones Jr., Gregory T. (Jackie) Jones, Richard D. (Vickie) Jones and Jeremy M. (Miranda) Jones; three daughters: Pamela Santos, Sandra (Jack) Board and Tawny (Mohammed) Bsatee; brother William “Bill” Jones; sister Mary (Steve) Mohler; 14 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters: Jean (Shelby) Daniels and Carolyn Brown; sister-in-law Judy Jones; and best friend since childhood Zeke Miller.

Shirley Jean Cope - July 31, 1942 - March 28, 2022

Obituary Preview: Shirley J. Thompson Cope, 79, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at The Oaks at Northpointe. Shirley was the daughter of George W. Thompson and Roberta Paxton Thompson Gambill. She graduated from Zanesville High School in 1960 and The Ohio State School of Cosmetology in 1961.
She worked as a hairdresser in Zanesville and Columbus. She also taught cosmetology at Nationwide Beauty Academy in Columbus.
After moving to Florida with her husband, she worked as a hairdresser and managed a beauty supply store. She also worked for the State of Florida in the Juvenile Detention Department. When she returned to Ohio, she worked for the Juvenile Detention Center in Zanesville as a Youth Supervisor and weekend cook. Shirley retired after 24 ½ years at Muskingum Starlight Industries in 2005.
She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon.
Shirley married Gerald R. Cope on November 10, 1974 and he preceded her in death in 1989. Also preceding her in death were her father George W. Thompson; mother Roberta Gambill; step father U. True Gambill; a step son Marlin Cope; a brother Richard Thompson; and a grandson Dennis Cope.
Surviving are her sister Patty Roberts; two nieces: Tresa (Jeff) Campbell (Jayna Morrison and Chloe Campbell); Shelia (Brian) Smith (Brittani (Cody) Parker, Brooke and Bailee Smith); nephew Brian (Angie) Watts (Mariah (Luke) Hahn and Nick Watts); step son Jerald (Carol) Cope; three step daughters: Barbara (Greg) Pillar, Lois (Chip) Strucklin and Pat (Bud) Snyder; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; a great great niece Joanna Parker; special cousins: George (Betty) Thompson, Beverly (Mark) Gundlefinger; Dr. Tom (Betty Sue) Brunsman; and a special lifelong friend Barbara Mitter.

Victor was a tile setter for 40 years in homes and businesses in the area. And a member of the Brick Layer and Tile Setters Union Local 55 in Columbus, Ohio.
Victor loved spending time with grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
