In addition to her parents, Christine was also predeceased by her husband Victor Massari, son Jamie V. Massari, and sister Stephanie Tripodi.

Alfred “Al” Meyer of Central Valley, NY passed away surrounded by his family on February 27, 2024. He was 69 years old. Son of the late Alfred R. and Kathleen “Kay” (Waldron) Meyer, Al was born on February 10, 1955, in Bronx, NY.

Al attended Villanova University where he received a degree in mathematics. He went on to later receive his MBA from Pace University. Following in his parents’ footsteps, Al was an Executive for IBM where he worked for over forty years. A true New York sports fan, he was an avid follower of the New York Football Giants and the New York Yankees. He was proud to be a season ticketholder of both the Giants and Jets. Al was also a member of St. Patrick’s Church in Highland Mills where he often attended Saturday mass in order to accommodate his other devotion: Sunday football.

Al was most happy basking in the sun on Long Beach Island, New Jersey, or on Sundays in the Fall, when you could often find him at a Giants or Jets game with his family or closest friends. He entered his favorite chapter of life when he became a grandfather to his grandson, Phineas, in 2022. Al was a friend to everyone and always ready to lend an ear or chat about the latest sports game. He will be remembered as a kind and generous person, a loyal friend, and a loving brother, husband, father, and grandfather.

Al is survived by his wife Jill of 40 years; son Brian and his wife Molly; sister, Patricia; beloved grandson, Phineas; nephews: Robert and Shawn; and Otto the Doodle.

A celebration of Al’s life will be held from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Friday, March 1, 2024, at Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Home, 515 State Route 32, Highland Mills, NY 10930. He is survived by his nieces and nephews: Maria & Robert Hunter of Highland Mills, NY, Donald & Suzanne Hunter of Russell Springs, KY; Kathryn & James Luciana of Harbeson, DE; Barbara & James Rafte of Dover, DE; Todd & Stephanie Hunter of Swanzey, NH; sister-in-law, Barbara Hunter; and several great & great great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers: Robert E. Hunter & William Hunter and his sisters: Winifred, Margaret & Cora.

Prior to moving to Highland Mills, Bruce was a long time Project Manager in Facility Engineering at the Ford Stamping Plant in Buffalo. He was also a dedicated Scout Leader and member of the Leadership Council of the Scouts BSA.

Son of the late Jose (Don Pepe) De Jesus & Amalia Juarbe De Jesus, Eddie was born on December 16, 1934 in New York, NY. He was a retired train conductor for the Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA) in Manhattan, NY, and a veteran of the United States Army, serving during the Korean War. On September 29, 1963, Eddie married the love of his life, Ada M. Osso.

Eddie was an avid sports fan, especially of the NY Yankees & NY Jets. He was a season ticket holder for both teams. In his early retirement years, Eddie was thrilled to work as a Yankees Stadium usher. He loved to travel the world. While in his seventies, Eddie rode a camel among the pyramids in Egypt and took a white water rafting trip down the Colorado River. Before entering New Windsor Country Inn, Eddie was involved in several senior citizen groups.

Survivors include his son, Edward De Jesus, Jr. & his wife Stephanie of Highland Mills, NY; sister, Rosalind De’Prey & her husband Walter of Redondo Beach, CA; and his grandson, Joshua Edward De Jesus. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife Ada, and his brother, Hector De Jesus.

She was active in her community as a parishioner of St. Patrick’s Church in Highland Mills, and she was a member of the Woodbury Seniors and the Golden Agers Club. She and her husband Bill were volunteers for the Town of Woodbury’s Parks & Recreation Dept. where they played Mr. & Mrs. Claus for 15 years. Leona also belonged to the Italian-American Club at Century Village, West Palm Beach, FL.

She is survived by her husband William A. Doyle; and by her daughters and son-in-laws: Ann Marie & Brian Starkey, Marion & Randy Weiner, Carolyn Izzo-Feldman, and Janet & Chris DeGiovine. She is additionally survived by her brothers: Frank Cahill, and Patrick Cahill; and by her grandchildren, Vanessa, Brian, Matthew, Patrick, Michael, Christopher, Richard and 13 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Leona was predeceased by her first husband, Richard C. Izzo.

Michael R. Carey, of Highland Mills, NY, passed away at his home on August 16, 2023. He was 64 years old. The son of the late Beverly (Xiques) and Joseph Carey, he was born on September 1, 1958, in Mt. Vernon, NY.

Michael graduated from North Rockland High School in Thiells, NY. He excelled in both Varsity Football, where he was recognized for Outstanding Sportsmanship and in Varsity Wrestling, winning several Titles and recognitions. He attended Westchester Community College and Mercy College for his BS in Biology and Chemistry.

He previously worked at Westchester Community College teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology before pursuing an advanced degree in MRI Technology. He was most recently employed at the Newburgh Enlarged City School District with the Security Department among his much esteemed colleagues.

He was a member of Saint Patrick's Church, a former member of the AOH Division in Monroe NY and a former volunteer for the Central Valley Firehouse and an avid member of Bolenbach's Gym, in Monroe, NY.

Michael is best known, however, for his kindness, selflessness and generosity in both deed and interactions. He was a force of goodwill and a friend to all, giving everything he had to his family, friends, and anyone in need. He had a smile and kind words for everyone, and everyone soon became a friend and fan.

Most recently, Michael took on the role of Greatest Uncle Ever to his 19 nieces and nephews. No obstacle was too big to overcome, he always did anything in his power to help them. He embodied love, patience, humor and a sense of wonder and adventure to his beloved nieces and nephews and grand-nephew. Legends are made from the acts of great men, and Michael was and is a legend to all lucky enough to know him, especially those lucky enough to love and be loved by him.

Michael is survived by his siblings: Raymond Carey and his wife Cheryl, Brett Carey and his wife Elizabeth, Brian Carey and his wife Paulette, Matthew Carey and his wife Katherine, Peggy Carey, Leighann Incledon and her husband Paul, and Noell Bushey and her husband Michael; his nieces and nephews: Brittany, Nicholas, Tara, Samantha, Erin, Catherine, Grace, Patrick, Raymond, James, Michael, Brendan, Claire, Mariah, Megan, Colin, Gavin, Devin, and Zachary; and by his grand-nephew Callan. Michael was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Beverly Carey.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 23, 2023, at St. Patrick’s Church, 26 Hunter St., Highland Mills, NY, followed by interment at Cemetery of the Highlands in Highland Mills, NY. She was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels, and she also worked as a Nurse’s Aide at Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, NY.

Jim served in the United States Army from 1966-1968. He began his career with the New York City Police Department in 1969, as an officer in the 44th Precinct in the Bronx. He retired from Bronx Narcotics in 1993 as a Sergeant. Following his retirement from the NYPD, Jim served the Town of Woodbury as a Court Officer until 2017.

Jim was an avid fisherman. He was a member of the Woodbury Field & Stream Club, and he spent many years fishing with his family at Lake Ontario, on his boat the Banshee. He enjoyed fishing in local rivers and streams, where he taught his children and grandchildren to fish. In retirement, Jim spent winters with his wife Ellen in Sebastian, FL. He loved to share stories of his years on the job, and fishing trips to the lake, with all who knew him.

Left to cherish Jim’s memory are his loving wife of 55 years, Ellen (Rush) Ward, at home in Highland Mills, NY; his daughter Dina Sweeney and her husband Dan of Cornwall on Hudson, NY; his son James Ward Jr. and his partner Violet of the Town of Wallkill, NY; his son Christopher Ward and his partner Diane of New Windsor, NY; and his daughter Jennifer Potter and her husband Scott of Cornwall on Hudson, NY. He is additionally survived by his five granddaughters: Jacynda Ward, Ashlyn Ward, Maris Potter, Katie Sweeney, and Allison Potter. In addition to his parents, Jim was predeceased by his son Sgt. Mark M. Ward of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Alma was the widow of Robert G. Vite. The joy of their marriage included raising four sons: Brian (Lora) of Central Valley, NY; Glenn (Maritza) of Winter Springs, FL; Scott (Kathie) of Palm Bay, FL; Randy of Myrtle Beach, SC; and one daughter, Bobbi (David) of Bethesda, MD, who predeceased her.

Giving further joy were her grandchildren: Carrie, Brianna, Robert, Kelley, Matt, Scott, Andrew, Robert, Kris, Johnny, Randy, Brian, and Eric; and great-grandchildren: Brooke, Kennedy, Isabella, Aria, Harlow, Connor, Deaglan, Broughan, Ryan, Aidan, Cullen, Asher, Val, Bobbi, and Kyler.

Alma was also the widow of Hugh Clarke. The joy of that marriage included adding four stepsons: Larry of Reno, NV, Kevin (Kathy) of Pittsburgh, PA; Ron (Marian) of Cary, NC; Rick (Donna) of Carson City, NV; and one stepdaughter, Linda (Ralph), who predeceased her.

Giving her further joy were her Clarke grandchildren: Randy, Adam, Marie, Haylee, Jennifer, Suzanne, Brian, Chris, Michaela, Amelia, and Zane; and great-grandchildren: Shonna, Corey, Loralie, Sheena, Tyree, Ryan, Liam, Kaitlyn, Samantha, Patrick, Andrew, John, Jackson, Ella, Charlie, Elijah, Athena, and Meadow; in addition to five great-great-grands.

Alma’s career included BOCES Teaching Assistant, Diet Center Coach, and Woodbury Court Clerk… but her true focus in life was her family. She was a very busy matriarch who spent her time creating treasured memories with each member of her family. We have been blessed.
