Joseph B. Nash - September 24, 1931 - April 29, 2024

Departed: 04/29/2024 (Monroe)
Obituary Preview: Joseph B. Nash, known affectionately as "Pop Pop, " passed away on April 29th, 2024, at Garnet Medical Center in Middletown, New York. Born on September 24th, 1931 in Harriman, New York, he was the son of Edna Simpson Nash and Howard Nash.
Joseph was a beloved member of the Monroe community, where he lived his entire life. Joseph took pride in helping others. He devoted three years of his life to serving in the United States Army and committed several more to the Village of Monroe's police department. It was while he was marching in a local parade that Joseph was spotted by a young woman in the crowd. This moment would be fondly recounted for many years by Eileen Snee, whom he married in 1955, as love at first sight. Together, they raised nine children and filled their home with warmth and laughter for sixty-nine wonderful years. Joseph was a devoted husband and father whose family was the cornerstone of his life. Joseph was an early riser who always woke with purpose, whether it was to enjoy a quiet drive in the morning or to fish at the lake. When nearby, his presence was unmistakable. The smell of scrambled eggs being cooked. An empty plate of shrimp at Christmas. A leaky faucet that was finally quiet, at least for a few days. A rotation of flannel shirts and baseball caps. An easy smile.
Joseph is predeceased by his parents, his brother, Howard Nash Jr., and his beloved son-in-law, John C. Zonneveld. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories with his wife and nine children: Kathleen Fanitzi (Anthony Fanitzi), Joseph Nash (Susan Nash), Mary Meadow (Steven Meadow), Thomas Nash, John Nash (Donna Nash), Eileen Nash, Rosaleen Zonneveld (John C. Zonneveld), James Nash, and Jeanne-Marie Maher (Daniel Maher). He also leaves behind twenty-one grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and countless nieces and nephews.
The family will hold visiting hours on Sunday, May 5th from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Smith Seaman and Quackenbush Funeral Home, 117 Maple Ave., Monroe, NY. A service to honor Joseph's life will be held on Monday, May 6th at 10:00 AM at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Still Road, Monroe, NY.
