Billy Joe Crocker, 71, of Bethany, Missouri passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2024 at North Kansas City Hospital.
He was born on June 10, 1952 in Fort Campbell, Kentucky to James Crocker and Ruth (Fletcher) Crocker. Following high school Billy went on to obtain an associate’s degree Linn State Technical College. On October 11, 1997, Billy was united in marriage to Kim Hutchison and she survives at their home. Billy was a teamsters union truck driver and worked for Yellow Freight until his retirement in 2015. Throughout the years Billy enjoyed horseback riding, camping in the mountains, working on the farm with the cows, attending auctions, spending time outdoors, visiting coffee shops, telling stories and visiting with friends, and above all else he loved spending time with his grandkids and his family.
In addition to his wife Kim Crocker, Billy is survived by his mother Ruth Fletcher Bechel; eight children: Billy “Jody” Crocker Jr. (Mary Lou), Les Crocker (Sarah), Amy Bush (Colin), J.B. Winnegar, Brandon Huff (Shelly), Kevin Salmons (Darcy), Conan Salmons (Sam), and Ruthie Crocker; 19 grandchildren: Robyn, Emily, Olivia Grace, Natalie, Jaylen, Cassidy, Kylie, Kaden, Braden, Colten, Taylor, Jackie, Fletcher, Carter, Kimmie Jo, Jordan, Chloe, and Scott; three great grandchildren: Caysen, Thomas and Oliver; 9 siblings: Jim Crocker (Dolores), Larry Crocker (Margie), Linda Crocker, Gail Hannaford (David), Mike Crocker (Cathy), Patty Bates (Darrel), Brenda Crocker, Bobby Crocker, and Candy McQuiston (Bryan); dear friends Greg Trowbridge, Fred Trowbridge, Anne Trowbridge and Leroy Trowbridge; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, great nephews and a host of many other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father James Crocker; his step father Robert Bechel; 5 siblings: Jackie Trowbridge, Tammy Crocker, Randy Crocker, Sherri “Doodle” Lamb, and Terry Crocker; one grandson Uriah Moad; and one nephew Jamie Crocker.
Friends will be received from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at Slater Millard Family Funeral Chapel 540 South Summit Drive, Holts Summit, MO 65043. The funeral service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Slater Millard Family Funeral Chapel, followed by the burial at Hopewell Baptist Church Cemetery in New Bloomfield, Missouri.

Ruby Myrene Nichols - November 02, 1916 - December 10, 2023

Obituary Preview: Ruby Myrene Nichols, 107, of New Bloomfield, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, December 10, 2023. She was born in Callaway County on November 2, 1916; a daughter to the late August Fredrick and Sarah Ann (Tillery) Sundermeyer. On December 20, 1941, she was united in marriage to George Duard Nichols, who preceded her in death.
Ruby was born and raised in Callaway County. Her and her husband proudly owned and operated a camp at Bagnell Dam in Miller County. She lived the entirety of her life in Callaway County with the exception of 12 years when she lived in Washington with her daughter. She worked for 40 years in shoe manufacturing, beginning her career at Tweedie Shoe Factory. She also worked for International Shoe Factory, Samuel’s Shoe Factory, and Stride Right Shoe Factory. Two of her proudest achievements while working in the shoe industry were making 64 pairs of shoes for Henry Ford’s granddaughter’s wedding and making shoes for the Queen of England and Miss America.
Following her retirement from the shoe industry, Ruby went on to work in the healthcare industry, providing in-home care until she fully retired at the age of 80. Her hobbies included quilting, gardening, cooking, playing Big Boggle, and traveling with Jeanine Echo-Hawk and family. She also enjoyed sailing with her husband, George, and daughter, Virginia “Nicky.” Ruby loved her family and friends and will be missed dearly by all who know and love her.
She is survived by her daughter, Virigina “Nicky” Belle Kinderis, and many nieces, nephews, and kids all over the country who call her, Grandma Ruby. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; son-in-law, Donatas Kinderis; and siblings, Frank Sundermeyer, Harriett Schoenfeld, Vincent Sundermeyer, Virginia Mae Sundermeyer, Harold Sundermeyer, twin, Ruth Irene, Sundermeyer, Roy Sundermeyer, Emma Smith, August “Tiny” Sundermeyer, Agnes Kieselbach, and Bessie Lutz.
Family and friends will be received on Friday, December 15, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel. A funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. with James Hayden officiating. Ruby will be laid to rest at Hart Hill Cemetery in Holts Summit following the funeral service.

Obituary Preview: Jerry Ray Brumback, 78 of New Bloomfield, passed away Sunday, November 26, 2023 at the Harry S Truman Veterans Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. He was born October 4, 1945 in Macon, Missouri, a son of the late Lee R. and Lorene Frances (Atkins) Brumback. On May 23, 1997, Jerry was united in marriage in Rolla, Missouri, to Cynthia Cox, who preceded him in death on May 7, 2016.
Jerry served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War obtaining rank as a Specialist 4. He was number 50 on the Missouri Honor Flight, a trip he treasured and thoroughly enjoyed.
After retirement he volunteered at the Salvation Army and the food bank. Jerry enjoyed going to races, tractor pulls, his guns and loved his truck. Going out to eat with his family was one of his favorite things to do, but most of all, he treasured the time he spent with his family and friends.
Jerry is survived by his children: Jeff Brumback (Kristina) of New Bloomfield, Brandy Friend (Travis) of Linn, Blake Brumback of Jefferson City; siblings: Donna Wells (Jim) of Macon, Ann Wells (Roy) of Bevier and Mike, Spencer, Floyd, Vicky and Judy; grandchildren: Hannah Burch, Shelby Brumback, Evan Brumback, Tiauna Friend, Gavin Brumback, Kya Brumback, and Wade Brumback; great-grandchildren: Nevaeh Burch and Zayden Burch; as well as several nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Cynthia.
Friends will be received from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Friday, December 1, 2023, at the Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel. Obituary Preview: Danny Voyle Burton, 75, of New Bloomfield, Missouri passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2023. He was born April 19, 1948 in Kernville, California; a son of the late John and Lucille (Adair) Burton.
He joined the Army shortly after high school. After the Military he became a restraint manager for Denny’s and Bob’s Big Boy restaurants. He enjoyed fishing, studying American History, the old west, Davey Crockett, John Wayne, and sci-fi movies such as Star Wars and Star Trek. Most important to Danny was spending time with his family.
Danny is survived by his loving wife, Jo; sons, Robert Lair (Cheryl), Christopher Burton; daughters, Julie Harper (Oscar), Vicki Lair, and Sandra Chism; brother, Don Walter; several grandchildren; and a few great-grandchildren Missouri. He was preceded in death by his sister, Patty Burton and brother, Dale Walter.

Gayle enjoyed quilting, playing the guitar and singing. She was a very selfless person and enjoyed helping others. She was furthering her education before her illness by attending college online at Capella University. Gayle loved her family but she especially cherished every minute spent with her grandchildren.
Gayle is survived by her husband, David Bonato of Holts Summit; one daughter, Jennifer Mwangi (Wilson) also of Holts Summit; one son, James Whitmer of WA.; daughter-in-law Allison Bonato-Garcia of OR., grandchildren, Rachael, Rivers, Gianna, Samuel, Ruth and Sarah; sister; Courtney, brothers, Scott, David and T.J. Along with her parents, Gayle was proceeded in death by two sons, Tony Bonato and Matthew Bonato, and sister Brenda.

Doyle Junior McDaniel - June 30, 1933 - August 06, 2023

Obituary Preview: Doyle J. McDaniel, 90, of Tebbetts, Missouri, passed away Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Capital Region Medical Center, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Jacksonville, Illinois on June 30, 1933; a son to the late Aaron Doyle and Dorothy Pearl (Strahan) McDaniel. On February 2, 1957, he was united in marriage to Camelia Ann Stevens who survives at their home.
Doyle was a 1953 graduate of Bremerton High School in Bremerton, Washington. He joined and proudly served the United States Army from 1953 to 1957. He served at various bases including, Ft. Hood, Ft. Sill, Ft. Benning, and Ft. Rucker, where he graduated from pilot school. Doyle continued his education at Baylor University and LaSalle University, where he gained a law degree in 1970.
Doyle worked in various retail facilities for the Army & Air Force Exchange Service, ending his working career as an Operations Officer in Homestead, Florida. He retired in 1993 after a long, fulfilling career.
Doyle had a deep passion for golf, both playing the game and watching it on television. He could often be found on the golf course, perfecting his swing and enjoying the beauty of the game with friends. He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Holts Summit as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. He served as a grand knight in the 3rd degree in Homestead, FL and as comptroller in the 4th degree assembly in Miami, FL. Most of all, Doyle loved his family and cherished the time spent with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He will be missed by those who know and love him.
Doyle is survived by his wife of 66 years, Camelia; daughters, Deborah Kaye (Travis) Penserum of New Bloomfield, Missouri, and Cynthia Ann McDaniel of St. Louis, Missouri sons, Doyle Jay McDaniel of Parkersburg, West Virginia, Mark Thomas McDaniel of Tebbetts, Missouri, and Michael Steven (Frances) McDaniel of Melbourne, Florida; sister, Carol Marie Sartain of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; 15 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Donald Irvan (Carol) McDaniel; brother-in-law, Arlie Sartain; grandchildren, Gregory Bryan Smith, Karissa May Pinson; and great-grandchildren, Dylan Boessen, and Madeline Maureen “Maddie” McGowin.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church with Fr. Roberto Ike officiating. Doyle will receive Military Honors following mass.

She was a 1949 graduate of Jefferson City High School. She worked at the Missouri State Highway Patrol for nearly 39 years. Rosella loved cats and dogs. She enjoyed going to their lake house at the Lake of the Ozarks. She liked to go dancing at the Eagles Club and the American Legion. She loved playing cards, especially canasta. She was a life long member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Jefferson City. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children, Gary Vieth (Debbie), Sharon Benton; grandchildren, Danny Tellman (Trish), Michael Tellman (Jody), Eric Vieth (Amber), Tera Hayden, Cody Benton, Angel Toebben, and Tom Benton; as well as, numerous great-grandkids. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Vieth.
Friends will be received on Thursday, June 22, 2023 from 1:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. at Slater-Millard Family Funeral Chapel. A Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Rev. Dr. Stephen H. Buchholz officiating. Burial will be private for the family.

Obituary Preview: Michelle Renee Porch, 53, died unexpectedly on Saturday, April 1, 2023. She was born on June 26, 1969 in St. Roberts, a daughter of Albert and Marilyn (Wall) Kinsley.
Michelle was a 1987 graduate of Jefferson City High School. She worked as a CNA after high school, eventually becoming a Medical Assistant. She worked for the Jefferson City Medical Group (JCMG) for over 20 years, and was loved by all patients and coworkers. Her smile could light up any room and she spread love and kindness everywhere she went. Michelle was an entrepreneur, and owned and operated a movie theater as well as Porch Realty. She liked to joke and tease, and made everyone smile. She doted on her grandchildren, and loved to spoil them and the rest of her family. She enjoyed cooking and gift-giving, and truly loved her family. Her sudden passing will leave a hole in the hearts of all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughters: Teryn Porch of Jefferson City and Patricia “Tricia” Baker (Darek) of Holts Summit; son: Josh Porch (Danielle) of Jefferson City; mother: Marilyn Kinsley of Holts Summit; grandchildren: Landon, Kolbi, Canaan, Emily, Collin and Cooper; sister: Carolyn Citron; and nephews: Luke and Logan Citron. She was preceded in death by her father: Albert “Charlie” Kinsley; and grandson: Cameron.

He enjoyed his time in the United States Marine Reserves. Once out of the military he ran his own landscaping business. Chris enjoyed his time he spent with his best friend Kim and his son Gabriel. He will be missed by his family and friends.

Paul Joseph Fleming - August 14, 1979 - January 17, 2023

Obituary Preview: Paul Joseph Fleming, 43, of Holts Summit, Missouri, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. He was born in Port Smith, Virginia on August 14, 1979; one of two sons to George Allan and Ascension Sanchez Fleming. On April 8, 2006, Paul was united in marriage to Stacy Lynn Feltrop at St. Peter Catholic Church in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Paul was a 1997 graduate of David Glasgow Farragut High School in Rota, Spain. He gained his Bachelors of Automotive Technology in 2003 from Central Missouri State University (now known as University of Central Missouri). He worked for Lake Career Technical Center in Camdenton County and was currently employed at State Technical College of Missouri as a Tech Instructor over the Automotive Department.
Paul had a magnetic presence and people were drawn to him. He made people laugh with his quick wit and dry sense of humor. He always had the last word. He loved the ocean, the beach, and being in the sun. Paul was a die-hard Raiders fan, enjoyed all things football, and he cooked a mean steak. He especially loved his boys, working on cars with his son, Kaleb and coaching Noah’s soccer team. Paul loved being with family, loved his college sweetheart Stacy, and their two sons. He will be immensely missed by those who were lucky enough to know and love him.
He is survived by his wife, Stacy; sons, Kaleb and Noah; parents, George and Ascension Fleming; brother, George (Eleanore) Fleming; father-in-law, Dan (Cathy) Feltrop; brothers-in-law, Curt Feltrop, and Cole (Jessica Schmelz) Feltrop; sister-in-law, Michelle (Aaron) Kliethermes; nephews, Callen Schmelz, and Logan, Blake and Grant Kliethermes; nieces, Saoirse Fleming, and Paisley and Sawyer Feltrop. Numerous cousins and members of extended family. He was preceded in death by his grandmothers, Laura Bell Fleming and Natividad Macias Sanchez.

Obituary Preview: Daryl DeWayne Ash, 70, of Holts Summit, passed away on Wednesday, December 14, 2022. He was born on September 5, 1952 in California, Missouri; a son of the late Mancil and Frances (Thessen) Ash. On December 15, 1973, He married Marilyn "Sue" Case, who survives him at home.
Daryl was a 1971 graduate of Jefferson City High School. He owned and operated Summit Foundations in Holts Summit. While the company may have changed hands and changed names several times over the years one thing remained, Daryl was still there and his knowledge of the company was second to none. He enjoyed hunting, playing cards, fishing, and spending time with his family and friends.
Along with his wife Sue, he is survived by his son, Mitchell Ash (Carissa); daughter, Heather Bosch (Thomas); brothers, Rick Wilbers (Sylvia), Randy Ash, Troy Ash (Anne); sisters, Kay Schrimpf, Cheryl Wilson, Lana Wiebold, Lisa Schuster (Vince), Jill Kepner (Mark); grandchildren, Brice Cassil, Nicholas Ash, Brilee Ash, and Bentley Bosch; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gary Wilbers.
Friends will be received from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at Slater-Millard Family Funeral Home, Holts Summit. A funeral service will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Inurnment will be at Hawthorn Memorial Gardens, Jefferson City.

She was a 1975 graduate of Jefferson City High School. For many years Jeannie worked as a pharmacy tech at the Wal-Mart pharmacy. She enjoyed playing bingo at several area venues, trying her hand at the penny slots at the boats, and she loved to cheer on her beloved Mizzou Tigers, St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. Most of all she was an adoring wife, mother, sister and aunt who will be greatly missed.
Jeannie is survived by her husband, Clifford; children, Jamie and Jennifer Heard; siblings, Joyce Mobley, Jerry Heard (Joan), Judy Burton and Joetta Clague (David); brother-in-law; Ed Porter; sister-in-law, Becky Heard; and a host of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Janet Porter; brother, Jimmy Heard; brothers-in-law, Ronald Mobley and Rodney Burton.

Jo Ann was a 1953 graduate of Steelville High School. She met her husband and life partner while attending school there. She spent most of her life taking care of her family, raising kids, and keeping her home in superb order. Jo Ann was a member of Union Hill Baptist Church. She and her husband enjoyed traveling and attending various bluegrass and gospel festivals. She loved camping, playing Bridge with her girlfriends, and attending bible studies. She also loved McDonalds; she and her husband ate breakfast every morning at McDonalds regardless of where they were. Most of all, Jo Ann loved her family and friends. She will be missed dearly by those who were blessed to know her.
Jo Ann is survived by her children, Chris (Lesa) Litty of New Bloomfield, and Debby (Bob) Anzalone of Fenton; grandchildren, Bethany (Deric) Brown and MaKayla (Josh) Newman; and great-grandchildren, Brynli, Kade, Haleigh, and Landon Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents J.C. and Betty, and beloved husband, Jim.

Obituary Preview: June Marie Essen Melton, 94, of New Bloomfield, Missouri passed away peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Friday, August 12, 2022. She was born on October 16, 1927 in St. Louis, Missouri; a daughter of the late Thomas Jasper and Alice (Sloas) Hayes.
She was united in marriage to Malcolm Essen in 1947 and of that union were born nine children. Malcolm preceded her in death on July 12, 1978. June married Milburn Erhardt in 1981, who preceded her in death in 1988. She was united in marriage to Denver Melton on September 06, 1989, who passed away in 1994.
June was a 1945 graduate of Fairview High School in Jennings, Missouri. She continued her education and earned her Nursing Degree from Jewish Hospital Nursing School (now known as Barnes Jewish Hospital) in 1952. She began her career as a Registered Nurse in hopes of serving in the Army Nursing Corps, however the war ended before her graduation. She would continue to dedicate her life to the healthcare field. June earned her fifty years of nursing certificate and was extremely proud of her accomplishments, including being recognized in numerous editions of Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare.
June was a regular volunteer nurse for the Red Cross throughout her life and aided in disaster relief domestically. She taught GED classes, as well as nursing courses at the University of Missouri. She was also very proud to serve as a parish nurse. June was a charter member of Grace Lutheran Church where she was an active and loyal member, as well as an early supporter of Calvary Lutheran High School. She was part of Lutheran Services, providing missionary work in Togo, Africa and Ysleta Mission in El Paso, Texas where she served communities in Mexico. She was involved in receiving shipments from orphanage trains, taking shipments of bibles to Jamacia, and Laborers for Christ; an organization assisting in the building of new churches throughout the United States. She donated the chimes to Grace Lutheran Church and she and her children donated the church steeple.
Not only was June a proud nurse and member of her church community, but she also had the privilege of raising 6 wonderful children. Her family stems far and wide and is proof of the love she has for them. June enjoyed fishing, sewing, knitting, vegetable gardening, playing Bingo, playing Scrabble, and puzzles.
June is survived by her sons, William (Brenda) Essen, Terrence (Rebekah) Essen, and Mark Essen; daughters, Alison Jenkins, Cathleen (Melvin) Miles, and Melodie (James) Vinyard; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by twin boys, Michael Frederick Essen and unnamed son, and another baby boy; special aunt, Pasha Sloas; and grandson, Patrick Essen.

Obituary Preview: Clarence Donald Richards, 96, of Holts Summit, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022. He was born on July 30, 1925, a son of the late Homer and Ethel (Fitzwater) Richards. He was united in marriage to Bonnie Huning on March 27, 1946, who preceded him in death.
Clarence was a 1943 graduate of California High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy Medical Corps during World War II. He was a Nurse Anesthetist, and worked as an industrial nurse for Catepillar and a surgical nurse for St. Mary’s and Charles E. Still hospitals. Clarence was a very gentle and loving man. He loved to go to church, and never missed a service. He kept a King James Version bible that belonged to his father with him at all times. He was a Sunday School teacher for over 55 years, as well as a Deacon for both Cedar Grove Baptist Church and Union Hill Baptist Church. He loved to travel the world with Bonnie, which took them to over 70 countries. Clarence loved his sweets, dogs, and children, and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his dear friends: Linda Mann and Johnny, Debi and Layne Lewis; and sister: Evelyn Kipling of Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his loving wife: Bonnie; and brothers: Mark and Glen Richards.

James was a 1951 graduate of Steelville High School. In August of 1952, he joined the United States Army and proudly served as a cook for the officers until his honorable discharge in 1955. He retired from the Callaway Nuclear Power Plant in 1989 as the Superintendent of Personnel and Management Development after 29 years of service. He was a great cook, enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, camping and raising cattle on his beloved farm. He was an avid follower of the stock market and watching Fox News. He enjoyed attending bluegrass and gospel festivals and attended Union Hill Baptist Church. Years ago, he started giving out tootsie rolls to everyone he saw, and lovingly became known as “Grandpa Toots”. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his family. The family would like to express their gratitude to the nurses of St. Joseph’s Bluffs Neighborhood and to Hospice Compassus, especially Elaina and Naida.

Grandchildren Hannah Kevern (Jared, and their children Marlie and Isla), Lindsey Hall (Chris), Emily, Olivia and Zoe Scrivner. She is also survived by her step-children, Lori Myers of Ballwin and Ryan Grice (Gloria) of Chesterfield and their children, TJ and Jake Myers and Nadia, Noah and Sabrina Grice. Jack was a 1968 graduate of Carrollton High School. Soon after he joined the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged in 1973. He also served in the United States Air Force Reserve and retired after 20 years of service. In his civilian life he worked for the Missouri Department of Corrections and in 2018 retired after 20 years of service. Jack enjoyed playing pool, watching the Kansas City Chiefs, and watching action or western movies. He looked forward to road trips with Christy where they would road trip around the state and try out the local cuisine. Spending time with his only granddaughter, Persephone were times he treasured the most. Jack was known for his kindness and generosity to others. He will be greatly missed.
He is survived by her wife, Barbara Hannan; children, Cathleen, Cynthia and Carrie Westhoff and Patrick Hannan; sisters, Colleen Rivers (Don) and Christy Warden; and granddaughter, Persephone Hannan (Veronica Stoecker). Jack was preceded in death by his children, Robert and Crystal Hannan; and sister, Cathy Pruitt.

John was a mechanic and worked as a street sweeper operator in the Kansas City area for many years. In 1970, he married his wife Edna June Branburg.
John enjoyed playing cards and visiting Missouri riverboat casinos. He was a jack of all trades, but a master of none. About five years ago, he retired to Greenway Village Retirement Home in Holts Summit.
He is survived by his brother William “Bill” Reed (Ruby) of Holts Summit; four sisters Shirley Love (Ken), Kay Brewer (Murphy), Geneva Wyatt (David) all of Holts Summit and Wanda Jones of California, MO; as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Preceded in death by his wife Edna June, his parents, and siblings Ruth Mickey, Nellie Ousley, Juanita Morris, Mary Hurshman, Donald Reed, James Reed, Betty Woody, and Ronald Reed.
