She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Motes; daughter, Robin Powell (Greg); son, Randy Motes; sister, Sara Carroll (Cliff); brother, Buddy Jackson (Nancy); grandchildren, Kayla, Niki, Courtney, Josh, Korry, Mathew, Taylor, Kerrigan; great grandchildren, Khloe, Aubrey, Nilah, Lacy, and Euma.

Charles was preceded in death in death by his parents, James Hall Allen and Opal Beck Allen. Charles grew up in Macon, Ga. and served in the United States Navy. He worked in the aviation industry for several companies as an aerospace engineer. This job was a passion of his and he traveled the United States leaving his mark on the industry. Charles was also a gun enthusiast and proud member of the NRA. His passion for firearms was most noticeable when he was teaching and practicing with friends and family. The compassion and patience, along with his wise cracks, he demonstrated when teaching you to shoot will leave a lasting impression and precious memories. Charles also enjoyed spending time outdoors riding atv’s or his Harley. You would know it was him coming from a mile away with his loud pipes and 80’s rock music blaring. Charles shared his life with his wife Sue and their dog Peanut. They have been together for seventeen years and married for eleven of those years. Although they may have been opposites except for their iconic stubbornness which matched perfectly, the thing they shared and cherished the most was their love for family. Charles is survived by his wife Sue Quincey Allen; four sons, Charles Joseph Allen Jr, aka CJ (Nate Booth), Austin Allen (Aspen Hartley), Phillip Quincey (Mallory), Andrew Quincey (Danielle) and one daughter, Kasey Brooks. He was also Grandpa Charles to four grandchildren: Kelly, Katie, Gracie, and Forrest; one brother, Troy Allen (Tracey); two nieces, Tori and Courtney. He is also survived by two lifelong friends Brian Nelms and Jack Harris as well as close friends, Dave Vollrath, Mark Parsons, and Dan Brent. Charles was a simple man who liked to be comfortable. The family asks for those who will be celebrating his life to come as they are because Charles would have.

Obituary Preview: Luther Thomas Johnston, born September 10, 1939, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 from Englewood Health Center in Monroeville, Alabama. Thomas was born in Brundidge, AL, the oldest child of L.Q. “Quit” and Adele Johnston. He graduated from Pike County High School and attended Huntingdon College and the University of Alabama before serving in the United States Army. After returning to Brundidge from his military service, he worked with his father operating L.Q. Johnston Repair Shop, serving the needs of many beloved customers throughout Pike and surrounding counties for decades. In April 1971, he married Gail Eubanks, a native of South Carolina. They moved from Brundidge to Troy in 1974 and have three children: John Thomas Johnston (Carol) of Monroeville, James Harold Johnston of Birmingham, and Joyce Annette Johnston of Pelham. He dedicated his life to serving his church, family, and customers. He was a member of Troy First Methodist Church where he sang in the Chancel Choir for close to 50 years. Thomas was also an avid amateur (ham) radio operator holding the callsign KC4FIG. Through ham radio he made contacts with people all over the world, mostly using Morse code, and developed friendships with other hams across the state and region. He enjoyed the hobby and his ham radio friends, but his key is now silent. Thomas was preceded in death by his wife and his parents. He is survived by his children, three grandchildren, Faith Johnston of Birmingham, Grace and Luke Johnston of Monroeville, daughter-in-law, Carol Griggers Johnston of Monroeville, a sister, Bennie Carol Botts (John) of Fort Payne, a niece, Jo Ellen Botts Ingram (Darrell) of Birmingham, and a nephew, Neil Botts (Autumn) of Helena, Montana.

He took great pride in serving his country and being a Vietnam Vet. Bill loved his family and will always be remembered for his laughter and his ability to tell the best jokes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Rose Marie Perdue, mother, Hazel Golden, and a brother, Kenneth “Bo” Perdue. Marie was born July 20, 1954, in Bullock County, Alabama, to the late Clennie Riley of Troy and Maureen Winslow of Goshen. Mrs. Perdue was preceded in death by a sister, Margie Carswell of Troy, in addition to her mother and father. She is survived by her husband, Bill Perdue of Banks; a son, Billy Carswell of Glenwood; a daughter, Shirley Little (Gregg) of Glenwood; a brother, Junior Riley of Goshen; three grandchildren: Blake Little (Christin) of Hueytown, Kevin Little of Glenwood and Charlsie Little of Auburn; five great-grandchildren; several nieces, and nephews.
Rose Marie Perdue, known for her vibrant personality and larger-than-life spirit, left an indelible mark on the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Rose Marie was not only a loving mother but also a skilled truck driver who found great joy in her work of 33 years. She dedicated herself to training newly hired drivers, sharing her knowledge and passion for the job. Her commitment and love for her work were evident to all who crossed her path throughout her career at Wiley Sanders Trucklines. Her laughter was contagious, and her ability to make others smile was unparalleled. Marie had an impressive and unforgettable personality that drew people to her. She had a special gift for connecting with others, and everyone who knew her was touched by her warmth and kindness.
Rose Marie's family and friends will forever remember the joy and love she brought into their lives. Her legacy is one of strength, laughter, and the ability to brighten even the darkest days. She was preceded in death by her parents, John Lindsay and Cora Robinson Parks, her husband Charles Burton Rhoades, Jr., brothers Thomas Carlton Parks (Martha Ritchie Parks) and Joseph Gluyas Parks (Jo Ann Tolbert Parks), sister Cora Ann Parks Hudson (Harold Lamont Hudson), and brother-in-law Donald Alexander McGinnis. She is survived by her daughter Dr. Mary Ann Hooten (William R.) of Glenwood, Alabama; her sister Ava Robinson Park McGinnis of Rock Hill, SC; and many nephews and nieces. Mary Alice graduated in 1950 from Flora MacDonald College in North Carolina. She was very mathematically inclined and during her professional career she worked as a statistician with NASA, a market analyst with Celanese Textiles, and retired from the State of Alabama Highway Department where she was responsible for inventory control. She had a deep enjoyment of work and often spoke fondly of her previous employment. She was a self-described tomboy and played many sports, but especially loved bowling. She possessed a natural curiosity and had a lifelong love of learning. Over the years, she was involved with a number of hobbies including photography, collecting stamps and coins, and listening to music. She was also an avid bridge player. Memorial services will be held on December 11, 2023, at Sharon Memorial Park & McEwen Chapel in Charlotte, NC. There will be a 1:00 pm graveside gathering followed by a memorial service in the McEwen Chapel at 2:00 pm.

The family will receive friends Thursday at the funeral home from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Derald was born November 11, 1957 to the late Hollis and Addie Mae Parker Gulledge. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his sisters, Janice Hillhouse and Janet Redman. Derald loved life and never met a stranger. He was friendly, quick-witted, and could make almost anyone laugh! One could find him at the closest fishing spot or out in his shop tinkering around. As a carpenter by trade, Derald covered a multitude of ground in Pike County building houses,something he took pride in and was well known for. He could make all sorts of household repairs, as well. The ones who called him Pa, Paw or pawpaw were truly the light of his world. A day spent digging up stumps or doing anything outdoors was none the usual for his grandchildren to be included in on. Derald will be missed greatly, by a bountiful amount of people who always felt the outpouring of love he carried and showed; especially by his beloved wife of 31 years, children, grandchildren, siblings & certainly by all who were blessed to know him.
