Obituary Preview: Carol A. Smith, 84, of Franklin passed away on April 17, 2022. She was born on February 22, 1938 in Quaker City , Ohio  to the late Lester and Mary Carpenter.  She married James (Jim) Smith on December 2, 1956 in Apple Creek, Ohio. Carol retired from Bee Window in 2005. She was an active member of Center United Methodist Church¸ where she enjoyed her weekly Bible Study until moving to Franklin United Methodist Home in 2016, now known as the Otterbein. Living there, she enjoyed euchre, bingo and dining with her friends. Also, an avid fan of the Golden Girls.
Survivors include her son Mike Smith (Karen) of Indianapolis; daughter Lynn Moore (Brett) of Martinsville; she was a devoted Grandma to her grandchildren, Eric Smith (Yana), Aimee Ferguson (Kyle), Brad Moore (Emily), Brent Moore (Mandy),  Brittany Ray (Brandon); sisters,, Betty Carpenter, Sandy Manglitz (Mike), brothers Gene Carpenter (Barbara), deceased Jim Carpenter (Pam). She was blessed with twelve great-grandchildren. Services will be 12:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 27, 2022, at Center United Methodist Church will calling from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of service. Keenan Daniel Blair - May 26, 1985 - April 13, 2022

Obituary Preview: Keenan Daniel Blair, 36, formerly of Fortville Indiana, passed away April 13, 2022.  He was born to Carl and Penny Blair on May 26, 1985, at I.U. Medical Center, Indianapolis.
Keenan attended Pendleton Heights High School and was an avid wrester for the Arabians.  He enlisted in the U.S. Army as an Infantryman on July 7, 2006 and was assigned with the 101st Airborne 327th Infantry 2nd battalion 1st Brigade Combat Team.  He was deployed to Operation Iraqi Freedom on September 20, 2007 through November 17, 2008.  Keenan was discharged with honors as an E5 Sargent on August 2009.  After leaving the Army, he earned his Associates Degree in Paramedicine from Northern Virginia Community College earning his Paramedic Certification in 2011.  After which, he was employed by the Wayne Township Fire Department Indianapolis.  After serving at Wayne Township, he was employed by Triple Canopy (Blackwater) as a high threat security medic for the U.S. State Department and was assigned to the personal Security detail for the U.S. Ambassador to Iraq and U.S. Dignitaries.  After serving five deployments as a security specialist, Keenan was employed by St. Vincent StatFlight as a flight paramedic working in a critical care environment.  During his employment with StatFlight he also worked part time for Morgan County EMS.  Keenan was offered a full-time Training Officer position with Morgan County EMS and shortly after was promoted to Deputy Director.  On October 18, 2021 the Morgan County Commissioners appointed Keenan as the Director of Morgan County EMS.
Keenan was a passionate bow hunter and avid bass fisherman.  He enjoyed going camping, being on his boat and sitting in his tree stand and loved the outdoors.  He spent many hours on the water at Geist Reservoir and the Lake of the Ozarks.  He enjoyed sharing these hobbies with his Family.
Keenan is survived by his wife Kelsie Blair, sons Elijah Blair, Decklyn Field and daughter Grace Blair.  Father Carl (Robyn) Blair of Fortville, Mother Penny (Lee) Niece of Anderson, brother Kyle Blair, stepbrother Zach Niece and stepsister Brittany Havlin.
He was preceded in death by his Grandparents George and Janet Loughman and Carl and Jean Blair. Services for Keenan will be at 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, 2022 at One Christian Church, (2901 E. Banta Road, Indianapolis Indiana)
Calling for the public begins at 9:30 am to 11:30 am with services to follow.
Military honors will be presented graveside at Gravel Lawn Cemetery, (9088 W. 1025 S. Fortville, Indiana). Dinner will be provided following the graveside service by the Fortville American Legion Post #391, 207 South Merrill Street, Fortville, Indiana. Frog is survived by his wife Leslie Taylor, his children; Angie Cobb, Samuel Taylor, and Jillette Taylor, and well as his stepdaughter Katrina Hickebottom; siblings Kenneth Taylor, Sandra Brown, and Penny White. Frog is also survived by seven loving grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by his brother James Taylor, and his sister Brenda Carlisle.

She preceded him in passing on May 29, 2003. David was a member of the 1964 graduating class at North Central High School. He had been self-employed in the food service industry. He enjoyed watching the Chicago Cubs as well as other baseball teams, Indiana University Hoosiers and was known to wager on horse races. He enjoyed travel especially the Grand Canyon, Niagra Falls and Washington D.C. He was an avid student of history and enjoyed cooking and gardening.

William "Bill" Louis Bode - August 09, 1945 - March 07, 2022

Bill was married to the love of his life, Janet Nichols on February 4, 1967. He was employed as a project manager Asc. at Lockheed Martin for 20 years retiring in 2012. Prior to that he worked for IBM for over 25 years. Bill enjoyed traveling, square dancing and especially spending time with family.

Norma Jean was preceded in passing by her husband Roy Campbell MacBeth on March 2, 2007, her brother and sister-in-law Gene (Dorothy) Hussey and sister Mary Alice Gran.

He had been employed with Naval Air Warfare Center in Indianapolis and was a proud United States Air Force Veteran.  He was active in both the American Legion and the VFW.  He had various hobbies such as jewelry making, pottery, ceramics, reading and was a fan of the Indianapolis Colts as well as Indiana University Football and Basketball. Steven really enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially his grandchildren.
Steven is survived by his children; Marc Meadows of Lexington, South Carolina and Michelle Casey (Todd) of Greenwood, Indiana, sister in law; Debra O’Neal of Indianapolis, grandchildren; Jacob Casey, Jordan Casey, Bentley Meadows, Sadie Meadows and Brandon Meadows, brothers:  Phil and Ron Meadows.

Sally is also survived by her best friend, Alise.

Gladys “Nana” Mae Ryan - May 23, 1924 - February 16, 2022

Obituary Preview: Gladys Mae “Nana” (Bitner) Ryan (97) passed on February 16, 2022 in Franklin, Indiana.
She was born on May 23,1924 in Waynesburg, Kentucky, to William Rufus Bitner and Nellie May (Hammer) Bitner.
She grew up on her family farm in a small town called Pond Ridge, where they grew Tobacco for their cash crop.
Gladys was the youngest of 4 children. Her siblings and their mates all preceded her in death and were Orville Lee (Gewel), Madge Louise (Gene) Stamper and Macie Evelyn (Bill) Blaylock - (Guy) Stonecypher.
Gladys grew up in the depression era, which taught her many life skills. A few of them were her ability to grow a garden and house plants and her great sewing skills - she was able to make beautiful and stylish clothes using patterns from other clothes without taking them apart or crochet anything from baby clothing and blankets to a Christmas Angel tree topper, doilies for the backs of chairs or sofas, among many others -. Grandpa “Red” Ryan always said it wasn't done until she had ripped it apart 2 or 3 times.
She graduated Waynesburg High School in April of 1943. After graduation, she moved to Beechgrove, Indiana, where she worked for RCA to support the war effort making throat mics for military airplane pilots and later retired from Wavetek, where she soldered components to circuit boards.
Gladys met her husband, Arvil Eugene “Red” Ryan, in April, 1947 and they got married on May 17, same year. They were together for 36 years, until the Lord decided to take “Red” with him. They had 4 Children:  Lynith Gail (Ryan) Brown, Kenneth A. “Rusty”, Trenton D. “Rocky” and Jerrold K. “Stretch”, 15 Grandchildren, 19 Great-grandchildren, and 11 Great-great-grandchildren.
Nana’s passions were God, Family and Traveling. She was at her happiest when all were combined. Among the many things she did during her long life, she was a member of the Perry Mary's, traveling all around the State of Indiana, entertaining at Senior community centers and nursing homes. Attended Pond Ridge Baptist Church in her younger years and was a Member of Southport Christian Heights. She also made crafts for everybody in the family and had an amazing memory to tell detailed stories about her younger times.
She lived out her last years happily with her Granddaughter, Angel (Ryan) Wagoner, her husband Todd, Great Granddaughter Arialle and their two loved dogs and companions, Bubba Hoss and Chewy, in Franklin, Indiana. She passed the way she wanted: peacefully, at home and surrounded by her loved ones.
Funeral Services for Gladys will be held at Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center on Tuesday February 22, 2022 at 1:00 p.m..
Calling will be from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m..
She will be laid to rest following the service at Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood, Indiana. Final Arrangements have been respectfully entrusted to and handled by Singleton Community Mortuary and Memorial Center

Harold was a skilled tradesman having worked at Circle City Heat Treating, LinkBelt, Star Trucking, and Kidd Construction.   He never knew a stranger and always enjoyed a good laugh. Anyone that truly knew Harold, knew he had such a big heart. He loved many and we take comfort in knowing that Harold is now at peace. Preceding him in death were his parents Adam and Mary Colwell and  nephew Adam Taylor. He was born on May 19,1935, to the late Benjamin L. and Helen F. Kauffman.
Paul was a 1953 graduate of Southport High School. He retired from AT&T and was a member of Tabernacle Presbyterian Church where he was active in the Pastors’ Bible Study and enjoyed maintaining the church landscaping.  He enjoyed much time being outdoors appreciating God’s creation whether that was working in his yard, hunting, fishing, gardening, boating or playing a round of golf.
He was the loving husband of Nina F. Kauffman for 66 years and father to Matthew (Deborah) Kauffman and Douglas (Mary) Kauffman; five grandchildren, Katy Kauffman Howe, Elizabeth Ledford, Krystine Kauffman, Michelle Martin and Kathleen Kauffman; and seven great-grandchildren, Isaac, Hannah, Eliza and Audrey Howe and Caroline, Charlie and Cora Ledford.
He was predeceased by his parents and brothers, Benny and Carl.
A private graveside service for immediate family only will be held this weekend.
A public memorial service is being planned for a later date.

His favorite activity, however, was spending time with his wife, Jo Ann, and their two daughters and their families.
Larry is survived by his wife of nearly 49 years, Jo Ann, daughters; Darla Berry (Gordon) and Rachel Rolfson (Duane), grandchildren; Amelia Berry, Joanna Berry, Christian Berry, Jonathan Berry, Wesley Rolfson, Henry Rolfson and Stella Rolfson, siblings; twin Jerry (Mary Lou) Lynch, Mary (Rick) Davis and David Lynch, as well as several dear nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary Irene (Bader) and Leonard Lynch.
