Logan Alexavier Moravik - December 07, 2017 - April 19, 2024

Departed: 04/19/2024 (Sheridan)
Obituary Preview: Logan A. Moravik, age 6, of Ionia, passed away on Friday, April 19, 2024 at the Helen Devos Children’s Hospital in Grand Rapids after courageously and bravely battling an interstitial lung disease.Logan was an incredible child, so intelligent and inquisitive and full of promise, humor, empathy, thoughts, and ideas. He was always thinking, always talking. His mind raced so fast his mouth could barely keep up. He was funny and goofy and loved making people laugh. He loved meeting people and really loved having an audience. He had a big heart and liked to help others. He loved picking out toys to donate to the hospital and to the toy drive charities at Christmas. Logan made an impact on everyone he met. He had the mind of an engineer. He wanted to be a Grave Digger driver for Monster Jam. His favorite superhero was Spiderman, in the Iron Spider suit. Logan was diagnosed with stage 4 high risk MYC-N amplified neuroblastoma at 2 ½ years of age. As this cancer is often resistant to treatment, everything modern medicine had was thrown at it to treat it. Logan endured multiple surgeries and procedures, including seven rounds of chemotherapy, tumor removal surgery, a round of high dose chemotherapy, followed by a bone marrow transplant, two weeks of radiation therapy, five months of immunotherapy, and then two years of maintenance therapy. He experienced complications such as Veno-Occlusive Disease, Osteopenia, which resulted in multiple heel fractures, Cholecystitis, and more. Logan beat cancer and overcame each complication; it never broke his spirit! Logan was 32 months cancer free when he succumbed to nonspecific interstitial pneumonia, caused by one of the high dose chemotherapy drugs he received before his bone marrow transplant. It was thought to be allergies and then allergy induced asthma for months; it wasn’t until the fibrosis in his lungs began to progress rapidly that the doctors suspected a serious lung disease. By the time he was diagnosed, it was too late. His body fought hard and could overcome anything except for irreversible lung damage.Logan was the best thing that ever happened to our family, and we are grateful for every second we had together; the good, the bad, and the ugly. Logan is survived by his parents, Jennifer Moravik and Jesse Soule; brothers, Dominic Peterman and Shawn Soule; sister, Ariel Soule; grandmas, JoAnn Rinehart and Norma Soule; as well as many aunts, uncles, and lots of cousins. For those wanting to remember Logan with a memorial donation the family suggests you direct them to the Helen Devos Children’s Hospital in Logan’s name. His family would like to extend a big thank you to the entire hospital staff for the care and love they received from them.A celebration of Logan’s life is being planned for a later date.
