Timothy A Epstein - August 22, 1961 - May 28, 2024

Departed: 05/28/2024 (Plover)
Obituary Preview: Timothy “Tim” A. Epstein, of Stevens Point, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2024, after battling early onset Alzheimer’s Disease, at the age of 62.Tim was born August 22, 1961 in Stevens Point; son of the late Donald and Anita (Mayek) Epstein. Born and raised in Stevens Point, he spent his youth enjoying an array of outdoor activities such as horseback riding, golf, skiing, tinkering with cars, and helping on the family’s hobby farm. He graduated from Stevens Point Area Senior High as a proud member of the Class of 1979.When he met Lori Chojnacki, he knew he had found the love of his life. On September 15, 1984, she became Mrs. Timothy Epstein and the two enjoyed every second of their 40 years of married life together. On June 20, 1992, Tim received his most accomplished title when he became a father to their son, Nathan. Tim and Lori later welcomed their daughter, Nicole, on March 5, 1997. Tim, a devoted husband and loving father, was proud of his family and was sure to demonstrate his love for them through everything he did. He loved taking them camping and as the kids grew older, he spent countless hours traveling to Nicole’s cheer competitions. Sometimes, you could even catch him floating in the family pool; with or without company. While in high school, Tim began working for Copp’s. Little did he know at the time, this would be his career. He remained with the company and dedicated 41 years of hard work. His retirement in August 2019 came sooner than expected when he was diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer’s Disease and his symptoms no longer allowed him to work. While the disease may have robbed him of his later years, his life was truly filled with joy and happiness. Tim’s most recent moment of pride and excitement was the welcoming of his very first grandchild, Avery Allison DeGroot. Every moment he spent with her since her birth in November of 2023, was precious to Tim, as well as the rest of the family.A handyman at heart, Tim, loved to work on projects. In fact, he was instrumental in building his and Lori’s forever home which was completed in 1994. He was sure to make the basement his oasis where you could often find him entertaining his friends and family, listening to rock music, playing pool, or throwing darts. While the people around him were important, Tim also found joy in animals. He was known to spoil his dogs, Toby and most recently, Addie, who also provided great comfort to him during his illness. She was a devoted companion and friend for Tim in a time of need. Tim also enjoyed the Packers and watching golf, as well as music, most often listening to rock and country. Furthermore, he found peace and solace while playing with Addie, gardening, and making homemade jerky and wine. In everything he did, Tim was passionate, dedicated, and meticulous. His hardworking and charismatic personality will be sorely missed by all who knew him.Tim is survived by his beloved wife, Lori; his children, Nathan (Haley) Epstein and Nicole (Uriah) DeGroot; and his granddaughter, Avery DeGroot. He is further survived by his in-laws, Jerry and Doreen Chojnacki; a brother and sister-in-law, Perry and Jackie Chojnacki; a sister-in-law, Mary King; and many nieces and nephews.Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Anita Epstein; his maternal grandmother, Anna Mayek; a brother-in-law, Kevin Chojnacki; and his cherished dog, Toby. The family would like to extend a special Thank You to the doctors, nurses, and CN’s at Aspirus Stevens Point Hospital as well as the Aspirus Hospice and the team that helped Tim and his family with love and care. Furthermore, to NorthCrest for the care Tim received in his final days. In 2005, he graduated from Stevens Point’s alternative high school, the Charles F. Fernandez Center.
Dennis learned the value of a good sense of humor from a young age when his family teased him he was adopted. That ongoing, lighthearted family banter, shaped him into the jokester he will be remembered for. Dennis loved to tell a good joke or execute the perfect prank; he just loved to make people laugh. All jokes aside, Dennis was a kind-hearted and loving father, son, brother, and uncle, who always had candy in his pockets for the kids. Oftentimes he could be found taking his kids to the arcade, or just for a walk to the park. Dennis’s greatest joys in life revolved around his family. There was also a daredevil side to Dennis and he enjoyed active hobbies such as skateboarding, snowboarding, and longboarding. Dennis also enjoyed spending time playing disc golf, soccer, and volleyball, as well as providing some musical entertainment with his DJing skills.
Dennis is survived by his daughters, Evelyn and Lainey; his son, Rayden; his father, Andy; his step-mother; his brothers, Pao, Lenny, Davis, Johnny, Rocky, and Nco Ntsoov; and his sisters, Honey and Sandra. He is further survived by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, and step-siblings.
Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Anesha; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.
The family would like to extend a special Thank You to everyone who has provided support in some way to his family during this difficult time. Furthermore, to everyone and anyone who has loved Dennis at one point in their lives. He will be greatly missed by so many.
