Fern Cordelia Anderson - September 27, 1920 - October 20, 2020

Departed: 10/20/2020 (New Plymouth)
Obituary Preview: Fern Cordelia Noyes Anderson, 100, of New Plymouth, Idaho, passed away on October 20, 2020 from natural causes related to advanced age. Graveside services will be held at 2 pm, Friday, October 23rd at Park View Cemetery, New Plymouth, with Pastor Phil Pittman officiating. A viewing will be held at Shaffer-Jensen Memory Chapel, 329 S Plymouth Avenue, New Plymouth from 10 am to noon prior to the graveside service. Fern was born on September 27, 1920 to Frank and Ella Noyes in New Plymouth, Idaho and lived the majority of her life in New Plymouth. After graduating from New Plymouth High School in 1938, Fern enrolled at Lewis and Clark State College with designs of becoming a teacher. However, having fallen in love, Fern put her dreams of being an educator on hold and moved back to New Plymouth and married the love of her life, Charles C Anderson March 24, 1939. Fern always joked that she prayed for patience and got "Charley". Together they raised seven children; Karen Kreps (Ray) of Emmett, Idaho, Sherry Elson (Gerald) of New Plymouth, Ardith Betzold (Gary) of Meridian, Idaho, Dixie McClain (Nelson) of Eden, Idaho, Kent Anderson (Jeanette) of Roswell, Idaho, Kip (Kathy) Anderson of Winston, Oregon, and Kevin Anderson (Janie) of Emmett, Idaho. She often commented and praised the work ethic and character and legacy of her clan which includes 20 grandchildren, 71 great grandchildren, 15 great-great-grandchildren, and five great-great-great grandchildren. As the children grew and left the nest, Fern returned to a lifelong dream of being a teacher. Her education resumed at Treasure Valley Community College with her Associates Degree and she completed her education degree at the College of Idaho. Upon earning her degree, Fern began her career teaching in New Plymouth, teaching 7th and 8th grade remedial language arts. When a position opened, Fern moved to the elementary level, teaching 2nd and 4th graders for the remainder of her career. Many of her students remember and love Mrs. Anderson. You might have heard the statement---"A teacher affects eternity and does not know where his/her influence ends." In 1971, after just five years in the classroom, Fern began experiencing vision difficulties. She taught her family and others the great lesson of "never give up." and don't complain. She continued to teach until 1983. As her vision impairment became more life-altering, Fern transitioned from being a vision-impaired individual to an "activist." In 1995, she contacted the Idaho Commission for the Blind and was told that there was no support group anywhere close to New Plymouth. SO...Fern STARTED ONE. She planned the programs, conducted the meetings, invited guest speakers, made numerous phone calls to check on individuals and provided resource materials to assist others during their transition from being sighted to losing their vision. Upon retirement from the classroom, Fern sought to continue her involvement in professional organizations. She traveled to Emmett, Idaho each month to attend the Retired Educators Association for several years. Knowing there was a need for retired educators in the New Plymouth, Fruitland, Payette, and Weiser area who would benefit from such a professional organization, Fern, founded the Lower Snake River Retired Educators Association. This organization continues to actively address the needs of school children, education legislation, and issues facing both retired and active educators in these four communities. Fern was initiated into The Delta Kappa Gamma Society International and has been an active member of the local Kappa Chapter from 1977 - present. She was an active, passionate, contributing member serving on many committees that addressed education issues. Fern received the State Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. Giving back is Fern's middle name---she supported the local New Plymouth Senior Citizen Center, the Baptist Women's Mission Group, King's Daughters, and was a charter member of the New Plymouth First Baptist Church. Fern taught and lived her faith daily through her actions and example. Fern could multi-task and always had a pair of knitting needles in her hands. Legally blind she continued to knit by touch, and she has been doing it for so long, she said her fingers can feel when she makes a mistake. For years Fern knitted 80 plus stocking caps annually. Her colorful knitted caps were put into children's comfort bags, which were distributed to local domestic violence agencies. Children, grandchildren, and hundreds of others have enjoyed Grandma Fern's slippers and hats. As health, sight and age took its toll, Fern taught us by always being positive, and seldom uttered a complaint. Fern lived a life of gratitude. She did not dwell on her physical challenges. She has continued that pattern throughout her life in accepting blindness, cancer, and other health issues. Fern, even after retiring from the classroom, continued to teach. She was well-respected for the quality of her input. Fern challenged, inspired, and modeled for each of us to raise our voices if we see injustice. She engaged her intellect, wisdom, time, and energy in the service of others and practiced her faith with dignity and grace. All who know Fern were touched by her kindness, warmed by her caring, blessed by her friendship and her example of living life to the fullest. Fern was preceded in death by her husband, Charles "Charley" Anderson; her parents, Frank and Ella Noyes; sister, Dorothy Noyes Boyce; and two sons in law, Ray Kreps and Gerald Elson. Fern has been blessed and took great pride in the posterity from her seven children. The family wishes to thank all the health care professionals, especially Heart ‘n Home Hospice, that helped take such good loving care of our dear mother these last years of her life. Dale Hayward Myers - May 05, 1933 - March 27, 2020

Departed: 03/27/2020 (New Plymouth)
Obituary Preview: Dale Hayward Myers passed away peacefully March 27, 2020. He was born, along with his twin sister Dorothy, May 5, 1933 in Minersville, Utah. They were the son and daughter of Nettie Carter-Myers and Victor George Myers. They joined their older siblings, Colleen and Ted in the Myers home. Dale attended school in Minersville and then graduated from Beaver High School. He married his high school sweetheart Ila Marie DeLeeuw. They started their life together with Dale working for Standard Oil Company in Salt Lake, Provo, Nephi, and Cedar City, Utah. During those years, Alan, Jill, Joani, and Jed were born. The little family moved to New Plymouth, Idaho in August of 1961. There, Dale along with his brother Ted, started MC & M Ranch which soon became Myers Brothers Dairy. Two additional children joined the family in New Plymouth, Jason and Kathy. Dale spent his working life running the dairy with his brother and raising his family. He had a reputation of raising quality dairy animals and served in several leadership capacities in that industry. He was a board member of DHIA and Idaho Grade A Milk Producers Association. Dale was also committed to education and served on the local school board for many years. He served as the President Elect of the Idaho School Boards Association. He rarely missed a State High School Basketball tournament or a local football game. Along with his service to the community, Dale volunteered to serve those around him and served in his church with diligent efforts to assist others. He served as a Sunday School Teacher, In the Elders Quorum Presidency, as a High Councilor in the Emmett, Idaho Stake and the Bishop of the New Plymouth Ward. He also served in the Boise Idaho Temple for eleven years along with his wife Ila. Dale farmed and worked the dairy every day until he gradually turned the reins over to his oldest son. In 1995 he sold the cows to Alan and then he and Ila adventured with each other and some of their friends. They could be found at the shores of Lake Cascade in the spring or fall camping and fishing or at other fishing spots in Idaho or Oregon. They RV'd a few brief stints in Arizona in the winter. Occasionally, they ventured to Maui to enjoy the Polynesian culture and the Island spirit. No matter where they ventured, home was the dairy. Although it was in good hands in his absence, Dale and Ila lived there and it was their home. It was the place they raised their family. Dale was preceded in death by his parents Victor and Nettie Myers, and siblings Colleen Myers-Farnow and her husband Douglas Jr., Ted Myers, Dorothy Myers-Johnson and her husband Samuel Ray Johnson, and daughter-in-law LuJean Myers. Dale is survived by his sister-in-law Bonnie Myers, Nampa, Idaho, his children Alan Dale Myers (Lynita) New Plymouth, Idaho, Jill Hollingshead (Duke) Minersville Utah, Joani Haws (David) Minden, Nevada, Jed Myers (Robin) Nyssa Oregon, Jason Myers (Denise) Hermiston, Oregon, Kathy Myers, New Plymouth, Idaho, 19 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren. Viewing will be April 3, 2020 from 9 AM - 11 AM at Shaffer - Jensen Memory Chapel New Plymouth, Idaho. Graveside services will be April 3, 2020 at 1:00 PM at Parkview Cemetery New Plymouth, Idaho. Dale Hayward Myers, father, grandfather and friend, passed away peacefully March 27, 2020. He, along with his twin sister, Dorothy Ann were born May 5, 1933 in Minersville, Utah to Victor and Nettie Myers. They joined siblings Colleen and Ted. Dale attended elementary school in Minersville and high school in Beaver, Utah graduating in 1951. He then married his high school sweetheart, Ila Marie DeLeeuw August 17, 1951. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls, Idaho temple on August 27, 1963. His father worked on the railroad leaving Dale to help his mother with dairy cows, farming and all other family chores. He developed a strong work ethic and a love of animals. When he was a young boy, he and a friend were playing with a 22 rifle. His friend, assuming the gun was not loaded, pointed it at Dale's head and then lowered it to his lower leg and pulled the trigger. Unfortunately, the gun was loaded and Dale was shot through the leg. As Dale and Ila began their life together, he worked for Standard Oil in Salt Lake City, Provo and Cedar City, Utah where Alan, Jill, Joani and Jed were born. After ten years with Standard Oil he fulfilled his life-long dream of owning his own dairy. He and his older brother Ted moved to New Plymouth, Idaho and started milking cows as Myers Brothers Dairy. Two additional children joined the family in Idaho (Jason and Kathy). His day began 4:30 a.m. for the next 34 years! He started his day with a cup of Ovaltine, headed out to the barn to milk the cows, returned to the house for breakfast about 9:00 a.m. and then back out to work till dark. He had a reputation for raising quality dairy animals. He had a fondness for cats and always had one in the barn that he would feed with warm milk straight from the cows. After retirement he always kept a couple around the house and would fuss over feeding them every morning. In August of 1968 Dale's father died in a tragic car accident. At that time Dale was 35 years old. Even though he had a great deal of farm work going on, he took four weeks to comfort and take care of the legal matters for his mother. Through the years Dale has been a great support for numerous family members. As a successful dairyman he served on the board of Dairy Herd Improvement Association (DHIA) and the Idaho Grade A Milk Producers Association. Dale was also committed to education and served on the local school board for many years. He served as the President Elect of the Idaho School Boards Association. He rarely missed a state basketball tournament or a local football game. Dale volunteered to serve those around him and held many positions in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints including, Sunday school teacher, ward clerk, high council representative in the Emmett Stake and Bishop of the New Plymouth ward. He was a faithful home teacher to many. He was always concerned about the needs of others. About fifteen years ago a good friend passed away. The family was preparing their father for burial and did not have a nice white tie readily available. When Dale became aware of the their situation, he immediately picked out one of his own white ties and promptly delivered it to the family. Dale and Ila served in the Boise, Idaho LDS temple for 11 years. This was one of the highlights of their lives. They became very close to those with whom they served. In 1995, Dale sold the dairy farm to his oldest son Alan. He and Ila were finally able to have time to travel a little and fish a lot. They enjoyed a few winters in Arizona, several trips to Maui and numerous weekend getaways to the mountains. They enjoyed visiting with their children and grandchildren. Service Details.
