Harold Lynn McCoy - March 16, 1939 - April 13, 2024

Departed: 04/13/2024 (Twin Falls)
Obituary Preview: Harold Lynn McCoy, 85, passed away on April 13, 2024, in Twin Falls, ID. Son of Esther Marie McCoy (Yunker) and Glenn Albert McCoy, he was born on March 16, 1939, in Twin Falls. Harold graduated from Twin Falls High School in 1958. He spent most of his childhood working for his father in his custom harvesting business and repairing farm equipment in the off
season. After high school he joined the Navy and proudly served on two aircraft carriers, the Shangri-la and the Randolph. Haroldoften told stories of his time in the Navy, including accidentally walking inside
a prison in Italy through an open gate and being met by armed guards.
He deeply missed his friend, Jimmie Perkins, who was struck by a car on base in 1961. After his discharge from the Navy, he returned briefly to Idaho to continue working with his father, before deciding to move to California and seek work on the railroad. He first began working on the
Southern Pacific Railroad, filling in wherever work was available,in Northern and Central California. He told of being low on money, for a time, living off toast and musk melons found in a field in Firebaugh, CA. Eventually he was able, with time and seniority, to get more consistent work and his
circumstances improved. He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad after 38 years. On April 20, 1972, Harold married the love of his life, Bettie Ann (Plender/ Oelrich). Together they had two daughters, joiningBettie’s two daughters from her previous marriage. Not one to sit still, he was always working on something. He renovated every house he owned, could fix anything, and he maintained his vehicles to a flawless degree. Some of the family’s best memories were of time spent at the beach and it was where he was the most relaxed. He would spend all day playing with the kids in the waves and grilling hamburgers on a small grill, half of which would end up flipped
into the sand. He was an early adopter of conservation efforts, and could often be heard asking, “Why are all the lights on in this sumb***h?” After retirement, he enjoyed spending time with friends, Robert and Donna Stripling. The two couples were always going out to eat or playing cards. He enjoyed camping, traveling around the country by car and was interested in historical monuments. Harold and Bettie spent a great deal of time with grandkids Lee McCoy and Reed Oleske, often taking them on trips or attending their
school functions. On March 25, 2019,Bettie passed away after a long battle with Parkinson’s. In the intervening years,
he enjoyed meeting new people and was always ready to start a conversation with everyone he met. Whether it was in grocery stores, doctor’s offices, restaurants, and Costco, no one was a stranger,
and he was always ready to laugh. More than a few women received marriage proposals. He was especially fond of his home health workers Nate, Greg, Colleen, Robin, Emily, Destinee and Aisha. He enjoyed a special bond with Bethany Perron, who also took care of him in the last dew
years. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers and Bettie Ann. He is survived by a sister, June Hall, and daughters Jennifer McCoy, Kelly McCoy, Tammy Mitchell and Paige Rubio. He is also survived by
9 grandkids and 10 great-grandkids. Daddy, you will be loved and missed always.

Jacqueline Marie Bressette - December 30, 1943 - March 04, 2024

Departed: 03/04/2024 (Twin Falls)
Obituary Preview: Jacqueline “Jackie” Marie (Southern) Bressette
To know Jackie is to love her. She really was everyone’s friend, taking a keen interest in people’s lives and remembering details which indicated her sincere desire to connect. So it is with heavy hearts that we share news of her passing on March 4, 2024, just a few weeks after she celebrated her 80th birthday. Mom’s health issues, from Rheumatoid Arthritis to kidney disease, Leukemia to cardiac problems, got the best of her.
Since March 2020 Mom had been a resident of Brookdale Twin Falls. The folks there finally have a shot at winning Bingo and the crossword game now that Mom has ventured off to new territory. Prior to living at Brookdale, she resided in “old town” Twin Falls in our family home she and Dad purchased in 1970. She was healthy and busy in those days, working at The Times News in circulation for 31 years and engaging in her hobbies. She amassed a collection of ribbons and medals earned for walking faster than everyone else in her age group in 5-K’s around the Magic Valley. Her bowling prowess was honored with recognition in the form of trophies. Somewhere along the line she developed sharp-shooter skills and was able to knock down clay pigeons from a moving cruise ship. Cruises allowed her to haul back home all sorts of treasures, like various sheepskin products from Australia and New Zealand, T-shirts from Cozumel and Alaska, perfume from France, etc.
Mom wasn’t always a world traveler though. She grew up on a small farm south of Bellevue, Idaho. Dad must have known that “5B” was where the cool people live, because he rolled into town in 1964 and swept Mom off her feet, marrying her six months after laying eyes on each other. He whisked her off on a cross-country adventure before returning to Blaine County, Idaho to settle down and raise a family. Dad was a ranch hand and Mom a homemaker before they moved to Twin Falls. At that point they swapped roles, with Mom bringing home the bacon and Dad frying it up in a pan. Mom was prepared to work outside the home with her office administration knowledge gained by attending Kinman Business University in Spokane, WA. Her beautiful penmanship and ninja grammar skills could have landed her a job teaching, had she wanted to do that.
Mom was born in Hailey, Idaho on December 30, 1943. She married Donald “Don” Bressette on October 30, 1964. They raised two daughters, born in 1965 and 1968. Dad died November 29, 2014. Mom is also preceded in death by her sister Martha Jane (Southern) Wallace and their parents Lonnie and Martha (Sherbine) Southern. She is survived by her daughter Victoria [Carl] Reeb, grandson Jackson Reeb [Alix] and great granddaughter Wrenley; and granddaughter Allison Reeb. She is also survived by her daughter Cynthia [Jon] Siverts and grandson Benjamin.

Pat was loving, strong, courageous, and adventurous. Those characteristics were natural and a product of her upbringing. Pat was born in Camden, New Jersey and lived with her mom and dad in a small row home on Bailey Street on the city’s north side. There, she learned to stand up for herself and to speak her truth. She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1959 and went on to work at the Courier-Post Newspaper in Camden. Throughout her lifetime, the strengths she inherited and learned on the stoop of her Bailey Street home served her well.
In 1971, at age thirty, Pat’s first of many adventures took her to Twin Falls, Idaho, where she raised her three children, Patty, Steve, and Jim. Though her life in Idaho stood in stark contrast to her life in New Jersey, Pat adapted, made new friends, and enjoyed spending time outdoors. During her time in Twin Falls, Pat worked for the Twin Falls School District; Cactus Pete’s in Jackpot, Nevada; and at the Mountain Village Lodge, in Stanley, Idaho. She attended church at St. Edwards each Sunday. In 1986, at age forty-five, after Patty and Steve were grown and out of the house, Pat took on a new adventure. She and her son Jim moved to San Francisco. There, Pat reacquainted herself with city living and working for a newspaper – things she missed during her fifteen years in Idaho.
Shortly after arriving in the City by the Bay, Pat found work at the Progress Newspaper. A few years later she was hired by the San Francisco Chronicle where she spent the rest of her newspaper career as a classified advertising salesperson. In San Fransisco, Pat made new lifelong friendships and felt like she had truly found her home. Among other things, she loved riding the cable car to and from her small Nob Hill apartment for work each day.
In 1989, while walking from work to catch the cable car, Pat experienced the famous 6.9 magnitude earthquake that shook San Fransisco and left the city without power or telephone communications. Two days later, despite the dangers, Pat showed up for work. She later received a commendation from the Chronicle for her dedication.
After retiring from the Chronicle, Pat moved back to Idaho to be close to her daughter Patty. She loved this part of her life. She took tour bus trips to Nevada, Oregon, and throughout the Northwest. Pat also enjoyed visiting her three granddaughters in Texas and house-sitting her grand dogs. Throughout her lifetime, Pat remained devoted to her children and extended family, and loved them all deeply. Pat was fun, loved to laugh, and loved Christmas. For those who survive Pat, there is a sense of a life blessed with joy and caring.
Pat is survived by her three children, Patricia Ann MacDonald (spouse Paul Brady), Steven Robert MacDonald (spouse Shannon Shae-MacDonald), and James Michael MacDonald (spouse Wendy Geist). She is also survived by her three granddaughters Riley, Abbey, and Finley, children of Steve and Shannon. She is further survived by her sister Beverly, nephew Sean, niece Katie, and cousins Mike, Rosanna, Ray, and Beau.
Pat’s life was full. Those who survive Pat will miss her. There will be a private ceremony to spread Pat’s ashes at San Francisco’s Golden Gate as she wished.
