Elizabeth Ann Cowley - November 08, 1931 - July 12, 2022

Departed: 07/12/2022 (Plymouth)
Obituary Preview: Elizabeth Ann Cowley, age 90 of Canton, Michigan passed away on July 12, 2022. She was born in Lake Orion, Michigan on November 8, 1931 to her parents, the late Milton and Ruth Elizabeth (née Leonard) Rowe.
Elizabeth, or "Ann" as she was best known, is the beloved and devoted wife of the late Rusty Cowley; loving mother of her sons, Dirk and Dennis Cowley; proud grandmother of six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, eight counting her grand-furbaby, "Henry". She is deeply loved and will be greatly missed by her siblings, a myriad of nieces and nephews, as well as countless friends. She is pre-deceased by her daughter, Diana Cowley.
Mrs. Cowley, as her students knew her, was an elementary teacher who spent most of her career in the Wayne-Westland school district at both Tinkham and Hamilton Elementary. She taught primarily 1st-3rd grades, and simply loved her profession, always thinking about better ways to teach, and making purchases that would inspire her students to learn. In retirement, she found a love for desert life in arid Nevada that led her to purchase a home in Las Vegas. She used to say that she was the opposite of a "snow bird". She always came home to Michigan for Christmas, and some of the coldest months in Michigan to return to Nevada in the warmer months. She spent many glorious years exploring all of the different parks and diverse landscapes of the State, as well as winning big on video poker on the nickel slots. She was a huge fan of road trips with destinations unknown...and her friends loved her get-up-and-go attitude. She had a great fondness for true crime and anything mysterious. She never let go of her love of life and those she held dear.

Richard Joseph Dreslinski - January 02, 1939 - July 12, 2022

Departed: 07/12/2022 (Plymouth)
Obituary Preview: Richard Joseph Dreslinski passed away at age 83 on July 12, 2022 at Angela Hospice in Livonia, MI.
Beloved husband of 41 years to Maureen Roseanne Dreslinski (née Kelly) before her passing in 2012. Loving Father to Rosanne, Richard (Rebecca), and Gregory (Nicole). Adoring grandfather to Kailey, Jeren, Leah, Catherine, Joseph, Susan, and Juliet.
Richard was born in 1939 and raised on the Eastside of Detroit. In his early years, he had fond memories of watching the war planes fly overhead which may have sparked his lifelong interest in WWII history. He loved playing baseball with the boys from the neighborhood and spending time on Boblo Island where his love of the Detroit river and boats may have begun. He was a devoted Catholic his whole life, attending Our Lady of Queen of Heaven grade school and graduating from Salesian Catholic High School in 1957. He married Maureen Roseanne Kelly in 1971 and built a home in Canton, MI in 1973. Together they raised 3 children Rosanne, Richard, and Gregory in their faith. After Richard retired from a management position from Northville State Hospital in 2001, he dedicated his life to his family, his church, and the Knights of Columbus Dooley Council No. 5492. During his time with the Knights, he held the office of Grand Knight and Deputy Grand Knight. He coordinated the annual 50/50 raffle for years at the summer picnics at St. Colette Catholic Church and loved making someone's day with their prize money!
In his community service roles, he actively worked to raise funds to aid those with physical disabilities, disaster relief, health initiatives, support refugees, and fund Catholic Education. He was very generous, sharing his time and resources with anyone in need.
During his downtime, he was an avid bowler and golfer and once even managed the rare feat of hitting a hole in one! He could often be found in Wyandotte or near the river watching for freighters or other large boats. He went on the Diamond Jack river cruise at least a few times every summer until Covid and his declining health prevented him from doing so. He also loved watching sports, especially Baseball, Hockey, and Football. Sometimes he cheered on the Detroit teams but usually he just heckled them from his couch. He loved history and read many non-fiction books, especially about WWII. His favorite TV channel was Turner Classic Movies and he spent many hours watching the old classics. His favorites were the old "Who-dun-its," where he loved solving the case before the hero did. He had a standing date with his close friend Butch to meet up a couple times a month to meet for coffee and scratch-off lottery tickets, never winning big but having fun nonetheless.
While flowers are always welcome, the family would also kindly suggest donations to Angela Hospice in Livonia which offered such a peace of mind to the family recently and ten years ago while Maureen was so ill. Contribution envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
Friends may visit the Schrader-Howell Funeral Home, 280 South Main Street, Plymouth, Michigan on Sunday, July 17, 2022 from 3:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. A Rosary service will begin at 7:00 P.M.

Obituary Preview: Marilyn A. Nitchman, age 91 of Plymouth passed away on July 6, 2022.
Marilyn Alice O’Reilly was born to Ellen Ray and James O’Reilly in Detroit, Michigan on July 26, 1930. She was the third of 5 children, with sisters Vesta, Janice, Colleen and brother Jim. Family lineage has been traced to Mayflower passenger Stephen Hopkins.
Marilyn attended elementary and middle school at Madonna Catholic school and graduated from St. Benedict High School at 17, having skipped two grades. She worked in food service and other positions at Highland Park General Hospital, and then at Michigan Bell as a teletype operator. An attractive redhead with a vibrant social life, Marilyn was introduced to Earl Nitchman (aka “Nitch”) by a mutual friend and immediately fell in love. They were married November 18, 1950 and honeymooned during a blizzard in the mountains of Pennsylvania.
As soon as they were able to have children, Marilyn became a full-time homemaker.
Their first child, Brady James Nitchman became a partner in an accounting firm, married Barb Rutter and had four children, Joel, Amy, Susan and Michael. Second is Carrie Marie Nitchman, who worked in the auto industry and married Karl Majeske, has three children, Hattie, Blair and Zeke. The youngest is Sally Ann Nitchman, who married Kevin Smith, is a graphic designer and homemaker and has two daughters, Marilyn and Lily.
Marilyn’s children recall her as “the Kool-Aid Mom” with many of their friends thinking of her as a second Mom. She was always around for fun and snacks and all were welcomed warmly into her home.
Marilyn was a great cook, loved painting and basket weaving. She served St. Kenneth Catholic Church as head of the Sacristy, a member of the choir, and later as the church wedding coordinator. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a member of the Lakepoint Garden Club, and created her own social group with fun-loving women who called themselves, “The Maxi Mouse Club”. She learned to speak German, went to Swimnastics and enjoyed walking for exercise.
Marilyn and Nitch loved and prioritized time with family and friends and enjoyed endless entertaining at their home with a beautiful backyard pool. As their nest emptied, they enjoyed travel; Maine and Florida were favorite U.S. destinations and they also went on a Bahamas cruise, traveled to Paris, Italy and Germany. They spent LOTS of time with all their grandchildren, attending games, concerts/recitals, birthdays, holidays and all major milestones. Marilyn and Nitch moved into Glacier Hills Assisted Living in 2013 and enjoyed carefree time together there until Nitch passed away in July 2015. Marilyn loved visits with loved ones. Her grandchildren are now ushering in the next generation, with 9 great grandchildren as of this biography. Loving families, strong marriages, dedicated parents, academic and career successes throughout the family are evidence that Marilyn’s (and Nitch’s) love of people and life endures!
