Theresa M. Meisner - September 12, 1934 - April 25, 2024

Departed: 04/25/2024 (Foxboro)
Obituary Preview: Theresa “Marie” Meisner (McGuinness) born September 12, 1934, passed surrounded by love at her home on April 25, 2024. She was the devoted wife of Ronald Meisner (deceased) for sixty-eight years, and the cherished daughter of the late Tess (Bates) and Patrick McGuinness Sr. Marie was also a beloved sister to Joseph (deceased), Frank (deceased), Patricia (deceased), and Patrick McGuinness of Ohio. She was the daughter-in-law of Jordan and Ida Meisner (deceased) and sister-in-law to Barbra Johnson (deceased) and Joyce Thompson of Vermont.
Marie said her greatest achievement in life was her eight children, and then being able to see all of her grand and great grandchildren grow. Her children and their spouses will forever remember her as an amazing mother: Donna and her husband Richard “Whit” Whittier (deceased), Sharon Meisner, Ronald Jr and his wife Marji Meisner, Regina Norton, Joseph and his wife Eileen Meisner, Thomas Meisner, Kristine Meisner and her partner Joe Bordieri, and John and his wife Tracey Meisner. Marie’s grandchildren will remember her as the best Grammy ever: Harmony and her husband Mike Stoker, Nicole and her husband Dave Mulanaphy, Ronnie Deschamps, Ricky Whittier (deceased), Vanessa and her husband Chris Farzner, Colleen Norton, Christopher and his wife Joanna Meisner, Katie and her husband Jeremy Earle, Jesseanne and her husband Mike Shier, Amanda and her husband Randy Lavasseur, Corrie Masison, Kelly Meisner, James “JC” Meisner and his wife Brittany. She was also a magical Great Grammy to her great-grandchildren Raven, Braeden, Angelina, Damion, Jack, Oliver, Connor, Molly, Maggie, Lilah, Grace, Ellie, Kiley, Lauren, and Cody, and bonus greats Dylan, Alia, and Hayden Stoker, Summer, Cali, and Faith Bordieri. She was a beloved Church Grammy to Madeline & Eleanor, and a Grand Marie to Tess. Marie’s large family is a testament to how she lived her life, she was the most nurturing, fantastic, magical mom/grammy/ great grammy.
Marie lost her father at a young age. Her mother raised her and her siblings during the 1930’s, an era of depression and world war. Yet they were raised with the love and compassion that Marie demonstrated in her own life.
Marie was well known for her care, empathy and thoughtfulness for friends and family. She always knew what your favorite treat was and would be there to provide it for you. Marie was the person everyone went to for a safe space to process life's ups and downs. You knew you were in the presence of love when you were with Marie.
Marie spent summers in Bateston Nova Scotia with her mother's family, fostering strong relationships with her cousins. Marie never picked up the desire to join her cousins on the lobster boats, but she did love the taste of lobster! Many of the cousins moved to Massachusetts and the shenanigans of Bateston followed. “The Cousins” met on a regular basis keeping that strong family bond that they passed on to their own children.
Throughout her life, Marie volunteered in many different capacities, including the Foxboro school system, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, and her church. Marie said her favorite volunteer experience was teaching CCD and that it was a privilege to be a part of spiritual education.
Marie held various jobs over the years, but her favorite was at the Foxboro State Hospital because she felt like she made a difference by making clients feel better and making them smile. Oftentimes the joy she brought to the clients was because of her mistakes, Marie said they found her hilarious. Marie’s children liked it when she worked for the Chocolate Factory most because of the “mistakes” that she brought home. Marie considered her marriage to Ron her destiny, as she would say “things lined up just so”. Marie and Ron were a couple for seventy years, and she would reminisce that her best date with Ron was the day he asked her to marry him. They were a family-focused couple, deeply involved in their church and neighborhood activities. As their children grew and they could venture out a little more they started square dancing with their friends the Childs and Staffords. Marie was a person of many talents, she made their outfits for square dancing and was proud of it!
Marie had a magic about her that is truly hard to put into words. Ron often commented that all the things they had in life were because of her and her ability to make things happen. Somehow she always found a way. Her children joke that she has eight “only children” and her grandchildren all claim to be her favorite. Marie had a way to provide her undivided attention and let you know at that moment you were the most important to her and that each of us is special, loved, and cared about and our hopes and dreams matter. That will always be her magic, not even her death can take that away.
Visitation to celebrate Marie’s life will be on May 10th, 2024, from 4 pm to 7 pm at Roberts & Sons Funeral Home, 30 South Street, Foxborough. A Funeral Mass will be said at St. Mary's Church, 58 Carpenter Street, Foxborough on May 11th, 2024, at 10 am.
