Mary Lou Roach - April 29, 1938 - April 16, 2024

Departed: 04/16/2024 (Midway )
Obituary Preview: Mary Lou Sawhill Roach, 85, of Bulger, Smith Township, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, in her family home.
Mary Lou was born on April 29, 1938, in Midway, a daughter of the late John J. and Martha Williamson Sawhill.
Mrs. Roach was a retired machine operator for Stylette Plastics. Mary Lou worked at Stylette Plastics for 30 years, originally starting out to help put her girls through college, but remained even after their graduation.
There were two things that Mary Lou loved more than anything in this world, her family and her home. She turned her house into a home with her loving husband, Bob. The two began their family, and were blessed with two daughters. Mary Lou’s biggest blessing was seeing her family grow into what it is today. They became her rock after the passing of her husband in 2012. Mary Lou was never the same after losing the love of her life, but having such a supportive family to lean on carried her through life. She loved and cared for each member of her family in such a unique and special way. Whether she was baking you a special treat, or sitting on the porch swing telling stories, you knew just how much you meant to her. Often times you could find Mary Lou on her porch or inside her home, sitting down reading, sewing, crocheting or working on her needlepoint. With time her eyesight diminished so the books went down and Mary Lou switched over to audiobooks. Nothing was getting in her way. She was determined to enjoy her life and make the most of it, and she certainly did. She filled her life with adventure, laughter, and most importantly the love of her family and friends.
Mary Lou is surely going to be missed, but knowing she and Bob are reunited again is the perfect ending to their storybook love story.
Surviving are her loving daughters, Jackie (Tim) Takah and Kathy (Bill) Howden, grandchildren, Jarrod (Tiffany) Takah, Joshua (Cat) Takah, Nicholas Retos and Kassandra (Gregg Rodgers) Retos, and great grandchildren, Roman and Damon Rodgers.
Along with her parents, Mary Lou is preceded in death by her loving husband, Robert G. Roach; grandson, Brandon Retos; and siblings: James Sawhill, William Moore, Betty Mudrak, Dorothy Rusiskie, and Wilma Jean Script.
Friends and family will be received on Friday, April 19, 2024 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Thomas-Little Funeral Service, Inc., 106 St. John St., Midway (724-796-3301). A Service will be held on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Center Cemetery, Midway.

Obituary Preview: Chester T. Pensak, Jr., 76, of Ormond Beach, Florida, passed away with his sister by his side on Friday, November 3, 2023 in Florida.
Chester was born on April 10, 1947 in Washington, PA, the son of the late Chester T. and Blanche Josephine Piecknick Pensak Sr.
Mr. Pensak was a marketing designer for 43 years. He was talented in creating things like postcards or informational flyers. He loved design and was always so proud of his work. Not only did he create postcards but he was also talented in making stained glass. Chester was a well-educated man. He received his Master degree in design and even ran his own design company for a number of years in Florida. Living in Florida allowed Chester to enjoy other avenues of life like boating. Chester had many boats that he loved to take out on the water and enjoy.
Although he was one of the most intelligent people you would ever meet, he was extremely humble. Never once did Chester boast about his success or use his brilliant brain to undermined people. He was a very thoughtful, kind and gentle human. He cared for so many and filled his life with so many wonderful people. His three favorite people in life were certainly his sister, Phyllis and his two cats, Percy and Inid. He loved his cats so dearly and was so thankful for their years of companionship. Chester and his sister, Phyllis had the best sibling relationship that any parent could ever ask for. Not only were they siblings but they were best friends. All the phone calls, visits and watching the Pittsburgh Steelers play together from two different states were just some of the ways they showed their love for each other. There could not be one without the other and now there is a missing piece to their puzzle. Although Chester has passed his kindness and generosity will never be forgotten.
Surviving is his sister, Phyllis Pensak Nagy, his two cats, Percy and Inid, and many friends that became family.

All throughout his life, James loved the outdoors. He never missed a hunting or fishing season and made sure to pass this love onto his kids and grandkids. James enjoyed taking his family out to fish and hunt and it always brought him so much joy to see them enjoying it as well. James loved the outdoors and really enjoyed spending his summers at Camp Eriez, where he could be near his daughter, Vicki and daughter-in-law, Tina. His camp became his little piece of Heaven. James spent as much time as he could there and loved every second of it. Being out in nature without the rush of the world surrounding him, was what he loved most.
Just like James never missed a season, he never missed playing the lottery. Mr. Dhans was up bright and early to play his numbers for the Powerball. James and his wife, Eleanor, created and raised such a kind and loving family. As large as their family became, they never wavered in their love for each member. James cared for each and every member of his family in a unique and special way. His favorite roles in life, were that of husband, father, dad, grandfather and great grandfather. He cherished the time with his family, every meal and every laugh they all shared together. Cole Melio Shergi - October 08, 2002 - November 06, 2022

Departed: 11/06/2022 (Midway )
Obituary Preview: Cole Melio Shergi, 20 of Burgettstown, Smith Township, passed away unexpectedly, early morning on, Sunday, November 6, 2022. Cole was born on October 8, 2002, in Pittsburgh, the son of Melio and Amy (Kramer) Shergi of Burgettstown
Cole was a 2021 graduate of Burgettstown High School and was recently employed at Duquesne Light as a lineman.
Cole was a true country man. There was nothing that he loved more than being in the woods or in the water. He loved hunting and prioritized it over everything else. Of course, Cole’s dedication to the hunt usually paid off at the end of the season and he was always so proud to show off his latest quest. When fishing season came, Cole had his waders and muck boots on and was in the water ready to catch the biggest fish he could find. And in typical Cole fashion, he would not stop until he did.
As a child growing up, Cole was a very kind, loving and generous child. He always was wanting to help his dad cut grass or bring him tools. His best friends were his twin sister, Gracie and big sister, Katie. The three of them played endlessly together. At night Cole would always ask his dad to read him his children’s bible, that he always carried with him everywhere he would go.
As he grew it was clear early on that Cole had special athletic abilities. No matter which sport or what position, he always excelled. A parents dream to watch play. This athletic ability carried into high school where he earned several MVP awards in basketball and all conference in football. As a sophomore in high school, Cole had six interceptions to help the Burgettstown Blue Devils to a conference championship.
After high school, Cole enrolled in the Electrical Distribution Program with Duquesne Light.  He knew the value of hard work, and it truly showed during his school time. Cole excelled in this program and finished in the top of his class. His hard work and dedication paid off and Cole was immediately hired and based at the Duquesne Light Racoon Facility. Cole loved his job and the life it afforded him. He was set for a very bright future ahead of him.
He loved working on anything he could get his hands on. Whether it was putting up a tree stand, cutting the grass or helping his Dad on a house flip. Cole and his Dad were very close and always talked around bonfires, going to sports stores, hunting, playing catch, etc., but it was clear that Cole really and truly loved his Mom. They shared a very unique and loving bond from day one, that will never be broken. There are some things that death cannot end and the relationships that Cole had with his Dad, Mom and sisters is definitely one.
In Cole’s spare time, he spent countless hours with his loving girlfriend, Lexus Green and her family, which also became his family. Lexus and Cole were very happy together and enjoyed living their lives to the fullest. Cole recently took Lexus hunting, set her up with all of her own equipment and scouted an area for her. She was able to land her first buck, a 10 point. Cole was smiling ear to ear for days as he recounted the story. Hunting was his passion and he got so much joy from sharing it with others.
Cole’s kind attitude from when he was a young kid carried into his adult life.
For being so young Cole had a way of making you feel included no matter what you were doing. Although his sarcastic attitude would beg to differ, he cared about every single person he met. His heart was huge and made of gold. Cole would work all day and come home and work all night for someone in need. He helped anyone and everyone that needed it. His infectious smile and laughter always filled the room and although Cole loved hunting and fishing, there truly was nothing he loved more than his family and friends. Cole made friends with everyone, young or old. The way Cole loved was the best part about him, he was the best friend anyone could ask for.
Growing up Cole’s family spent every Saturday and Sunday together to have dinner with each other. The word family meant more to Cole, they were the people he relied on for anything and everything and they him. His family and friends are what keep Cole’s light alive and although no family dinner, hunt or bonfire will ever be the same. Cole will always be the first person we all think of now. He made everyone feel like family no matter who they were or where they came from. Because of that the world is truly better place because of Cole Melio. If you knew Cole, you know he would not want you to cry too long but instead celebrate. Drink a beer and spend time with the ones you love.
Along with his parents surviving is his sister, Katie (Dylan) Dhans, and twin sister, Gracie Shergi, maternal grandparents, Herbert (Joyce) Kramer, paternal grandparents, Patrick (Gloria) Shergi, aunts; Eileen Kramer, Missy (Tom) Garrett, BJ (Jimmy) McKean, Lydia (Buck) Stoner, cousins; Beau and Cody Garrett, Jesse (Sara) and Allie McKean, Nate and Blake Neal and Alex Stoner, girlfriend, Lexus Green, and numerous friends that became family.
They say only the good die young and this is certainly the case with Cole.
