Obituary Preview: Paul R. “Ronnie" Dennison, 81, Seward passed away May 17, 2024, home. Born July 25, 1942, in Ligonier the son of late Paul E. Dennison and Anna Grace (Clark) Shirra. Also preceded in death by wife Mary Elizabeth (Brinker) Dennison, Daughter Lynn Zabala, sister Patty Palmer.
Survived by sons Ronald R. Dennison, Johnstown; Scott Dennison, Johnstown; and Tim Dennison, Robinson; 8 grandchildren 15 great-grandchildren, sister Carole Colson, Seward; brother Darrold Dennison, New Florence.
Ronnie was a US Navy Veteran of the Cuban Missile Crisis. Life member of VFW. An animal lover who enjoyed all his pets. He also enjoyed crossword puzzles.
Friends received 11 am till time of service 1 pm Thursday at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh. Interment with military honors at Armagh Cemetery.

Ruth J. Svilar - June 29, 1926 - May 16, 2024

Obituary Preview: Ruth J. (Mack) Svilar, the oldest daughter of Grace J. (Lichtenfels) and Collins E. Mack, passed peacefully May 16, 2024, with her family at her side. Ruth was born June 29, 1926, in East Wheatfield Township. She graduated from Armagh East Wheatfield High School in 1943.
She married Michael Svilar on July 21, 1945. They raised their two children, Sandra and David. They lovingly raised Mike’s youngest brother, Daniel Svilar, after losing his mother at a young age. Ruth made sure Danny was treated like her own son. He preceded Ruth in death.
Despite being widowed at age 48, Ruth remained positive and strong. She was appointed Postmaster of the Armagh Post Office. She served 26 years with passion and dedication. She had many opportunities to travel throughout the United States attending Postmaster’s Conventions. She enjoyed traveling with her daughter to many wonderful destinations.
Ruth retired in 1992, leaving Armagh and moving to Indiana. She made her home with her son and daughter-in-law. She was able to watch her young grandchildren grow to adulthood. She was affectionately known as “G” or “Grams”. She never missed an opportunity to brag about her grandchildren. She successfully spoiled them every chance she had. Ruth was blessed with four great grandchildren. She would light up at the sound of their voices making their way to her apartment. She found immense joy in her family. She participated in all family gatherings and events until the time of her death.
Ruth was a member of Bethel United Presbyterian Church. She was a former member of the Indiana Country Club. She volunteered at the St. Vincent de Paul Thrift Store where she was known for her “ironing skills”. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Steelers. She enjoyed trips to the casinos and bingo nights.
Ruth is survived by daughter, Sandra Svilar of Ligonier, her son M. David and his wife Elizabeth of Indiana. Surviving her are her grandchildren, Stephanie Svilar, of Pittsburgh, Ryan and his wife Sarah and their children Eliza and Violet of Greensburg, Michael J and wife Katelynn and their children, Adalynn and Quentin of Indiana. Ruth is also survived by her youngest brother, William I Mack of Clyde.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and the following siblings, Donald E. Mack, Gladys M. Jones, and Betty Lou Nerone.
Ruth was very grateful for the life she lived and cherished her family so deeply. She wanted to be remembered as a “friend to all” and she was indeed. Grams will be forever missed by her children and grandchildren.
Friends received 11 am till time of memorial service 1 pm Friday May 24, 2024. at Richard C. Stuart Funeral Home, 392 E. Philadelphia St., Armagh. Father Richard Owens officiating. Private interment for immediate family only at Armagh Cemetery.

Survived by these brothers and sisters Lenny, New Florence; Cynthia Patrick and husband Vince, Seward; Kenneth Boldin and Georgina, Nanty Glo; Raymond Boldin and Carrie, Ebensburg; Charlene Boldin and companion Joe, Armagh; also, numerous nieces and nephews.
Charles was a 1981 graduate of United High School, served in the US Army National Guard, 28th Infantry Division, for over 15 years where he was a decorated soldier, an employee of Millwork Solutions, Seward. He was a long-time member of Holy Family Catholic Church, Seward, member of Clyde Volunteer Fire Company for 34 years, Charles Sutton American Legion Post 0128, Bolivar, and Dilltown Sportsman’s Club. Charles enjoyed riding his bicycle, fishing, gardening, recycling, picking black berries for pies and picking mushrooms. He also enjoyed hanging out with his friends and faithful “parrot” pup Miss Buttons.

Grandchildren Shawn Michaels and wife Nikki; Matthew Michaels; Kelly Yerka; Joshua Stiffler, Christopher Stiffler, Jeremy Stiffler, Paul Rager and Amy Allen and husband Steven. Great-grandchildren Landon Adamsky, Shawn L., and Mya Michaels,Trevor, Tristyn and Taylor Yerka, Jaysen, Jordan, Reagan, Addison, Caydan, and Gage Stiffler. Sisters Beverly Disheart, Lancaster; Twila Coughlin and Debbie Filix, both of Ebensburg.
Sarah was a member of the Valley Grace Brethren Church, Armagh and enjoyed working with her hands doing a wide range of crafts especially sewing, quilting, and painting ceramics, eventually opening her own shop. Sarah also enjoyed playing the piano. She was a former beautician and worked for CYS. She most loved and cherished the time spent with her family.

She is survived by her loving husband Bill, spouse of 77 years and sister Evelyn Cable. Also survived by daughters Gale (Lee) Hess and Pennee (Bill) Young; grandchildren Ryan (Carrie) Young, Jill (Louis) Kitsko, Kelli (Josh) James, and Brent Young; great-grandchildren Braleigh, Brendan and Casen James, Bryce Kitsko, Jennings Young, and Bailee, Bryce, and Reagan Bair.
Millie truly is leaving and legacy that will be forever felt by her loving family. She loved spending time with family, cooking, attending sporting events, traveling, and her church.

Survived by husband William Lambert, two children Forrest McAdoo and fiancé Christie Timko and Elsie (McAdoo) Rouser & husband George; as well as stepchildren. 11 Grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren; sisters Barbara Sharp and husband Tim, Brenda Freedline, and Mary Freedline; brothers Ricky and Rodney McCurdy.
Vicky loved to cook and bake. She brought her family together for many celebrations and holiday meals. She often could be found sitting at the kitchen table playing Yahtzee with her sisters. Vicky loved her family immensely and always did what she could to help out. She was a mother hen to many; she was a strong woman and always fought for what she believed in. She is loved by so many and will be greatly missed.

Nephew Austin and Weston Phares, with wife Rebecca and fiancé Hayleigh Port, respectively. Also, niece Breanna Phares, nephew Travis Erwin, and Brady Erwin, as well as several aunts and uncles.
He found pleasure in four-wheeling, kayaking, music that resonated with him, firearm collecting, and bonding with his pets.

In her younger years, she was an immaculate housekeeper, enjoyed cutting grass, having a garden and growing flowers; painting ceramics, and making floral arrangements for relatives. You never saw her idle-- she was busy all the time.
She worked for Nationwide Insurance Co. in Columbus, Ohio as a Policy-Issue Group Leader, and worked for Nationwide Insurance Co. in Harrisburg and Butler as a Group Leader. She also worked for FMC (Syntron) as Supervisor over the Stenographic Center, Homer City and R&P Coal Co. in Indiana in the Sickness, Accident, and Compensations Department.
Surviving is her daughter Deborah L. Snyder, sister Betty Lou Ferri, and numerous nieces and nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father, husband Harry R. Snyder, brothers Weldon, Williard (Martha), Warren (Corrine), sisters Vendetta June (Sam) Bifalco, Isabelle (Patsy) Pauleene and Bernadine (Francis) Lanzendorfer and special niece Joanne (Ferri) Urch. At Corretta’s request there will be no viewing or visitation. A Memorial service will be held at a later date for family members. Arrangements have been entrusted with the Stuart Funeral Home, Armagh. The burial will be in the Armagh Cemetery

Heidi was a gentle spirit who adored her family. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother who cherished time spent with family. She was a longtime member of Seward Methodist Church, former employee of Glosser Brothers, and contributed to the “Your Ligonier Valley Neighbors” section in the Ligonier Echo for years. She was active in the PTA and Seward Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Aux. Heidi enjoyed gardening and will be remembered for her beautiful flower garden.

Vol. Fire Co. where he served as Chief Engineer for many years. Current president of Indiana County Fire Chiefs Assoc. He also served in the PA National Guard where he was a Sergeant First Class and was owner/operator of Mel’s Family Catering.

Kirk J. Fisher - October 08, 1954 - February 04, 2024

Obituary Preview: Kirk Fisher, 69, of Armagh went home to be with Jesus on Sunday, 2-4-24, with his devoted wife of 47 years by his side. Born October 8, 1954, in Johnstown, the son of the late Joseph and Wilda Jean (Brown) Fisher. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Rebecca. In addition to his wife, Christine, he is also survived by his daughters Jenni and Patti; grandsons Cameron and Calix; brother, Christopher, and sister, Myra. He is also survived by numerous brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, friends, extended family, and co-workers.
Kirk was an avid reader and loved to learn. He was a mechanic from a young age throughout adulthood and was a coal miner for 23 years. He started a rigorous college retraining program in 1999, where he excelled. He completed his degree to become a Physical Therapy Assistant (PTA) at Mount Aloysius College in 2001 and was the first in his class to pass the National Physical Therapy Examination (NPTE). These were among the happiest times in his life. He worked for Vantage Physical Therapy as a PTA for 15 years.
Kirk was an adventurer. He enjoyed travel and adventures with his wife. He especially enjoyed their trips to Hawaii, Australia, and Alaska. He enjoyed exploring, fishing, hunting, hiking, biking, cooking, reading, and spending time with his family. In his younger years while raising his daughters, he spent a lot of time camping with family and friends, where many great memories were made. He adored his grandsons and loved to take them on adventures and spend time with them outdoors. Kirk will be remembered by his wife and daughters with the deepest gratitude, love, and respect for being the best provider and hard worker throughout his life. His grandsons will always remember his love, quirkiness, sense of humor, and work ethic.
Kirk’s family would like to extend a special and heartfelt thanks to Art and Mar for devoting their time, love, and care during Kirk’s final days.

Grandchildren Britton Stutzman and husband Kevin, Vintondale; Marial Badzik and husband Matthew, Indiana; Caleb Bracken, San Diego, CA; Michaela Freytag and husband Alec, Baltimore, MD; Gideon Bracken, Vintondale. Great-granddaughter, Audrey Stutzman, Vintondale.
Alyce battled Parkinson’s during the last few years of her life, but fought hard, remained positive and refused to give up.
She was a local bus driver for the United School District for over a decade, enjoying students and making an impact on their lives. A devoted member of Blacklick Creek Christian Church, she served at VBS, on Mission Teams and with various committees. She found community here, used the gifts God gave her, developed lifelong friendships, and served others cheerfully.
Alyce was an avid gardener of flowers, vegetables, berries and herbs. She faithfully attended the Indiana County Herb Study group for years. She loved to cook and bake with her grandchildren, was always found in the kitchen and forever had a new recipe to share with others. Her mantra was, “eat dessert first” but never without a cup of tea.
She appreciated learning new skills. Her talents included stained glass, mosaics, and woodworking. She loved to collect antiques, dishes specifically.
In retirement, she and her husband traveled around the world, always “rating” the trip according to how good the cuisine was. She was up for any adventure.
Above all, Alyce loved people. Her house had an open door, continually ready to welcome a visitor for conversation or a meal. She cherished her family, sons, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren. She lived creatively, gave generously, accepted others freely and served faithfully. She’s now completely healed, at home with her Lord and Savior, Jesus.
