Diana Lynn Shaddick - December 27, 1947 - April 29, 2022

Departed: 04/29/2022 (Scottsbluff)
Obituary Preview: Diana Lynn Shaddick (December 27, 1947- April 29, 2022) Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28
Diana lived a beautiful and dignified life. She provided comfort and love while always asking little in return. Her husband, Michael, adored her and together they raised their children, Nate, Justin and Sarah to be passionate about their faith, to live with integrity and compassion, instilling them with a contagious love for God, family and life.
Diana was born in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Sam and Leah (Terry) Heinrich. She was the oldest of six siblings. She graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1966 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in music from Hiram Scott College. She married Michael Shaddick of Beaver, Pennsylvania in 1971.
Diana started her career by teaching music at Haig, Lake Alice and Victory Hill Elementary schools. She continued her teaching career at Mitchell High School. After starting her family, she chose to take her talents to teaching piano in her home. She was still teaching at the time of her passing.  After her children were grown, she followed her dreams of owning her own music store. Music and More was more than just the local “piano” store, it was a place for Diana to share her love for the Lord by ministering to others through her enthusiasm for music.
In Diana’s free time, she treasured being with her children, their spouses, and her grandchildren. She loved her siblings and was always conversing by phone or traveling to visit them. She volunteered in the hospital gift shop, was part of the Platte Valley Music Teachers association, was an active member of her local PEO chapter, a strong advocate for “The Jesus Project” and loved assisting with the local Fellowship of Christian Athletes Program. Throughout her life, she played the piano for different events: church, community, Theater West, even playing for the Everly Brothers at the young age of twelve.
To say she will be missed is a great understatement. Those of you who were blessed to be touched by her, understand the imprint that she left on the heart of this community. Diana’s undying loyalty, respect and love will forever be cherished by her friends and family. Her sole purpose in life was to bring Glory to God in all that she did, and we know that she is united in Heaven with her parents that preceeded her death, Sam(father) and Leah(mother) Heinrich.
Diana is lovingly survived by her husband, Mike; children, Nate (Heidi) Shaddick, Justin (Erin) Shaddick, and Sarah (Ryan) Cross; grandchildren, Isaiah and Ella Shaddick, Halle, Hannah and Noah Shaddick and Micah and Natalie Cross; her siblings, Steve (Jess), Larry (Rita), Char, Doug (Larissa), Sam (Beth) and Rob (Elizabeth) Heinrich; as well as many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 7th, 2022, at Mitchell Berean Church in Mitchell with Pastor Curt Holzworth officiating. Reception to follow at the church. Cremation has taken place according to her wishes. The service will be livestreamed and recorded to Diana’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com  Memorials may be made to 11:13 Ministries.

The graveside service will be livestreamed and recorded to Ron’s obituary page viewable at www.reverencefuneralparlor.com.
Ron was born a Nebraska boy on August 4, 1953 in Grant. He developed a “farmer’s heart” at ten years old when he began his first job helping on his Grandpa Keller’s farm near Grant. He graduated from Sidney High School in 1971. Ron worked on the construction of I-80 following graduation and then at Colorado Beef. He was later employed by Sterling Industrial Welding where he grew skills that eventually crafted him into a master fabricator and machinist.
Ron married Edna M. Moss on September 15, 1973 in Bridgeport. They lived in Sterling one year before moving to The Valley, where two sons were born, Greg and Adam. The family made their home in McGrew in the early eighties. Ron was very involved in the McGrew community and served as Mayor for some time.

He was a self-proclaimed gearhead. Ron loved old cars and motorcycles and even hand-built an award-winning trike. He had a special appreciation for horsepower, but was also a horse-whisperer. Maybe it started from his younger years spent on ranches in the Sandhills, but Ron had a way of understanding and connecting with horses.
Ron was active in his church, previously serving as a deacon as well as a Sunday school teacher. He helped anyone who ever asked him for help and was a friend to everyone who he met. What is an obituary?

An obituary is a written notice that announces the death of a person, typically including their name, age, date of birth and death, and a brief biography. It is usually published in a newspaper, online obituary platform, or funeral home website to inform friends, family, and community members of the person's passing.

Why are obituaries important?

Obituaries serve as a way to honor and remember the deceased, while also providing essential information to those who knew them. They help to notify others of the person's passing, share details about their life and legacy, and offer an opportunity for friends and family to pay their respects.

Who typically writes an obituary?

In most cases, the obituary is written by the family members or close friends of the deceased, often with the assistance of a funeral home or obituary writer. The writer should be someone who was close to the deceased and can provide an accurate and personal account of their life.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service (if applicable), hobbies, interests, and surviving family members. It may also include a brief biography, achievements, and notable accomplishments.

How long should an obituary be?

The length of an obituary can vary depending on the publication or platform. Generally, it should be concise and to the point, ranging from 100 to 500 words. However, some online platforms may allow for longer or more detailed obituaries.

Can I include photos in an obituary?

Yes, many publications and online platforms allow you to include one or more photos with the obituary. This can be a great way to personalize the tribute and help readers remember the deceased.

How do I submit an obituary to a newspaper?

To submit an obituary to a newspaper, contact the publication's obituary department directly. They will provide guidance on their submission process, deadlines, and any specific requirements they may have.

Can I write my own obituary?

Can I make corrections to an already published obituary?

If you need to make corrections to an already published obituary, contact the publication or platform where it was originally posted. They will guide you through their correction process, which may involve re-publishing the revised obituary.

How long does it take for an obituary to be published?

What is the difference between an obituary and a death notice?
