Jean Kathleen Lawson - January 29, 1931 - August 11, 2022

Departed: 08/11/2022 (Philadelphia)
Obituary Preview: Jean K. Lawson1931-2022Jean K. Lawson, 91, wife of the late John Lawson, died peacefully on August 11, 2022, at her home in Port Tobacco, Maryland after a brief illness. She was born on January 29, 1931, in Philadelphia. Attended Little Flower High School. Married John Lawson in 1948. Gave birth to five children: James, John, Vincent, Lorraine, and Kathleen. Jean worked 32 years at Episcopal Hospital and retired as a billing supervisor. She was blessed with eleven grandchildren: James, Jeffery, Lauren, Keith, Jennifer, Amy, Vincent, Christopher, Charlie, Terry, and Jamie. Her ten great grandchildren are Alex, Dylan, Vincent, Kathleen, Sarah, Marissa, Rebecca, Logan, Rowan and Deckard.Jean loved her large family including her 21 grand and great grandchildren. She spent hours watching the screen of her Wi-Fi picture frame that received pictures from her friends and family on a constant basis. She would rather watch the photos of her grand kids in different activities than watch television. Jean especially loved her pets. Sam and Tiger were her two cats that enjoyed a spoiled life of pampering and attention from Jean. When each passed in recent months it was a severe loss that was only surpassed with the memories of the years of joy, they provided her. However, she had the companionship of two devoted dogs, Bella and Rex who depended on her for breakfast, lunch, and dinner and petting along with belly rubs on a regular basis. Both guys are visibly saddened by her passing. Jean often sat by the window overlooking the Potomac River in the distance. But more important to her was the Hummingbird feeder only inches away on the other side of the glass. There always was an abundance of activities as these little speedy birds danced for her as they fought for their turn for a little nectar. Jean loved sitting on the porch with her iPad reading Facebook and playing Solitaire. She loved the phone calls from her family and friends. Jean never missed a holiday or special occasions and sent out cards for birthdays, graduations, and thinking of you, on a weekly basis to everyone. She was adamant about writing the cards with her shaky handwriting and then Lorraine wrote the envelopes. Jean enjoyed Mike and Lorraine’s friends when they came for visits and always joined in the conversations.Jean was full of life and always had a big smile and took on every day with a positive attitude. Her memory would put us all to shame. If you ever needed to remember something, just ask mom. Jean was a real trooper to the end and never complained.Jean was preceded in death by her husband John, and four of her five children: James, John, Vincent, and Kathleen. Jean, Mom, Gram will be sorely missed. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Friday August 19th 11:00 AM at the Reilly Rakowski Funeral Home 2632-34 E. Allegheny Ave. Phila., PA 19134. Memorial Service 12:30 PM. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. Those who desire to make a memorial donation in lieu of flowers can send donations to her favorite charity, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital: St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or www.StJude.org .
