Obituary Preview: Frederick Albert Reger, 86, of Huntington, WV, passed away peacefully on May 6th, 2024 in Shepherdstown, W.Va.
Frederick (Fred) was born on April 4th, 1938 in Huntington, West Virginia to parents James and Mary Carey Reger. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 62 years, DeAnna Rollyson Reger, who passed on February 21st of 2023. He was also proceeded in death by his brothers, George and James, and sister, Janet (Kirk). He is survived by his sisters, Trudy Reger and Kate Reger and many nieces and nephews. In addition, Fred is survived by his son Shawn and wife Laura; his grandchildren Ryan, Megan and Matthew; and his great grandson Alexi, all of who reside in the Northern Virginia. He is also survived by his youngest son Erich and wife Bridgett; and his granddaughters, Ellie and Paige, who reside in Huntington, W.V.
Fred Reger was a devoted Art Teacher at Huntington High School and at the Cabell County Vocational Center in addition to other schools during his tenure. He was a passionate artist who loved sharing details of his many works. Fred was a kind man who often reflected upon his earlier days of bird hunting with his beloved sons and dogs. In addition, he enjoyed fly fishing and playing his guitar. A Funeral Liturgy will be conducted at 10:00 am on Friday, May 10th at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rite of Committal will follow in Ridgelawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from 5-7 pm on Thursday, May 9th at the Reger Funeral Home, located in Huntington, WV

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his step mother Phyllis Ferrell, brothers and their families: Justin, Danielle, Mahayla, Sophia and Garvin, Jeremy, Misty, Deontae’, M’Kya, Kayden, Jaxson, Morgan, Deontrei’, Bill Beheler, Sammy, Ciera, Damon, Haley, Kim,Rodney,Erica,Davia,Deonte,Ciera, Amya and William, Step brothers:Mikey,Nathan,Rayn and Qiana. Aunts and uncle: DebraAnn, Hannah and Vinson.
Cousins: Tyrone, Austin and Ciera and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
He is also survived by his Spiritual Advisor: Eudora Moore-Howard.
Matthew had a smile that would light up the room and never meet a stranger and was willing to help anyone. He loved his family and friends and was a devoted care giver to his father.
He had a personality that endeared him to everyone he met. Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at 6:00pm at Mount Lebanon Baptist Church, 2582 Rt. 65, Matewan, WV

Obituary Preview: Wanda Lea Cole of South Point, Ohio passed away on May 3, 2024 at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland Kentucky. Funeral services will be held  May 7 at 11:00 am at the  Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington, WV. Burial will follow at Greenbottom Memorial Park.
Visitation will be held from 10:00am until service time Tuesday, May 7, 2024 at the Reger Funeral Home, Huntington.
She was born in Glenwood, WV, (Mason County)  to Ira and Bertha McComas on June 20, 1939. She was one of ten children. She graduated from Barboursville High School in 1957. She married John H. Cole on April 3, 1959 in Ashton, West Virginia. They both worked for Owens Illinois and lived in Huntington, WV, where they welcomed a daughter, Rhonda Lynn, and a son, John Martin. They moved to Charlotte, MI in 1963 and Toledo, OH in 1970 before returning to the Tri-State area in 1978 and settling in South Point, OH. She sold AVON products and enjoyed shopping, entertaining, spending time at her sister Lou’s pool, and taking drives with John. She was an avid collector of Hallmark products and Owens Illinois glassware. She was a member of Westmoreland Baptist Church in Westmoreland, West Virginia and actively involved in her Sunday School class and volunteering for the Upwards sports program.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Bertha McComas and siblings Rachel Henry, James McComas, George McComas, Louise Kearns, Everett McComas, and Waneda McComas.
She is survived by her husband, John Cole of South Point, OH; children Rhonda (Ed) Davis of Huntington, WV and Marty (Shelby) Cole of Shelby Township, MI; siblings Grover (Naomi) McComas of Glenwood WV, Frank McComas of Columbus, OH, and Carolyn Adkins of Huntington, WV; grandchildren Jamie Davis of Huntington, WV, John Davis of Ennis, TX, Dr. Megan Cole of Urbana, IL, and Travis Cole of Shelby Township, MI; and great-grandchildren Liam Davis and Hayden Davis of Ennis, TX.
Pallbearers will be Travis Cole, Rob Kearns, Curtis Henry, Dr. Steve Howerton, Bill Pugh, and Jim Galloway. She will be interred at Greenbottom Memorial Park.

She worked for Kenny Queen Hardware in Lavalette and worked at Love Hardware in Huntington until it closed its doors. Jean loved the people she worked for and with. Her customers made her so very happy.
She is survived by her daughters and son in law: Veletcia Sue Carpenter Setter and Raymond A. Setter and Leisa Rene’ Canterbury Castle. Grandchildren: Tracy Lyn McQuaid, Mikal Anne Ely and Mike Meadows, Jennifer Marie Setter and Cassandra Jean Castle. Great grandchildren: Chris Willard, Tommy Dunbar, Markayla Hornbeck and Evan Hornbeck, Iantha Breanne Courts, Alex Willard, Jaycob Benjamin Ely, Katlynn Jobe Ely, Jordyn Andrew Ely and Owen Esque. He was born October 1, 1961 to the late Eris Ransom Fry and Norma Porter Fry. Greg is survived by his brother, Ronald (Brenda) Fry of Lavalette, WV and sister, Deborah Lucas of Huntington. Nieces and Nephews, Justin (Angela) Lucas, Kim (Mickey) Kennedy, David (Debbie) Fry and Tricia (Craig) Preece; great nieces and nephews, Megan Lucas, Philip (Kristen), Sarah, Ellie, Kate and Luke Kennedy, Blake Fry, Taylor Fry, Haley (Tyler) Dugan, Megan (Austin) Middleton, CJ Preece, Courtney (Hunter) Douglas and his cat, Nugget. Greg also leaves behind life long friends, Rick Starkey and children, Ray Crowder and Steve Hufstetler and many more. He will be forever immortalized in the written word by very close friend Craig Johnson, author of the Longmire Series of novels. In the novel “Any Other Name,” Greg was included as a character that saves the damsel in distress and the title hero, Walt Longmire. And that is truly the kind of guy he was. Fierce to defend those he loved! He was an avid gun collector and loved spending time at the shooting range with family and friends. Greg was employed by Deangelo Brothers as a chemical specialist truck driver. He also worked at Harley-Davidson in both Huntington and Pittsburgh, PA. which fueled his passion for racing ATVs. Greg was employed by Heiner’s Bakery for many years. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Bob McGlone at 5 pm Thursday, April 25, 2024 at the Reger Funeral Chapel, Huntington. Obituary Preview: Brian L. Jones, gained his heavenly wings on Sunday April 14, 2024 while surrounded by loved ones. Brian had battled a hard fight with an aggressive cancer for the last year and is finally at peace.  Brian was born on February 19, 1973. He was raised by Frank & Bessie Combs in Wayne, WV.  He was in the Wayne High School graduating class of ‘91.  He was just short of celebrating 32 years of marriage with his one and only true love Veronica (Thompson) Jones. His love for her will never be matched by another. They have three wonderful sons together; Matthew (Elex) Jones, Stephen Jones, and Taylor Jones. He was his boys number one fan in anything they were a part of. His two grandchildren, Harper & Colter Jones, were the absolute light of his life.  He is also survived by his sister, Denise (Scott) Childers, his brother Greg (Norma) Combs, Father-in-law Pete (Sheila) Thompson, a sister-in-law Carla (James) Clay, and several nieces & nephews; Morgan, Allison, Kirsten, Bailey, & Kaylie.  His family would like give special thanks to his work company, ABC Supply Co. Inc, for their kindness during his illness and Dr. Melin Moses for not only his friendship but his amazing healthcare.  Brian’s Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2024 at Freedom Family Worship Center starting at 6pm. She is survived by her husband of 35 years Richard “Tony” Smith her children Jacob A. Smith and Jennah L. Smith. Half-brother: Mitchell P. Skidmore III.
She was a member of the Mount Union Church and a Sunday school teacher. A teacher at Spring Valley High School for over 25 years where she taught Home Economics. She held a Masters Degree in Reading which she obtained in 2001 and a member of WV Alpha Delta Kappa Chapter Teacher Soriety since 2012.

Sr. Mary Grace Barile, S.A.C. - January 31, 1947 - April 01, 2024

Obituary Preview: Sr. Mary Grace Barile, S.A.C., died April 1, 2024 after battling ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease). She was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Minnie A. Puccio Barile. She was the oldest of three children. She is survived by her two beloved brothers, Salvatore P. Barile of Milton, W.Va. and Philip C. (and Cheryl) Barile of Arnold, Md. and Logan Barile, her nephew.
Sr. Mary Grace entered the Pallottine Missionary Sisters on September 07, 1964, when the Sisters had their novitiate on McCoy Road. She took her first vows on August 15, 1967 at St. Mary’s Hospital Chapel and her final vows on August 15, 1973 in Florissant, Mo.
When the novitiate moved from McCoy Road to Missouri, Sr. Mary Grace was one of the founding sisters of Pallottine Formation and Renewal Center, Florissant, Mo. She was transferred back to Huntington in 1969, where she was employed at St. Mary’s Hospital doing bookkeeping. She received her BS/BA at Aquinas College in Grand Rapids, Michigan and returned to be Chief Cashier at St. Mary’s Hospital in 1988.
In 2017 Sr. Mary Grace was elected Provincial of Pallottine Missionary Sisters and was made President of Pallottine Health Services, Inc. With the selling of St. Mary’s Medical Center to Cabell Huntington Hospital, Sr. Mary Grace, as Vice President of Mission Integration, was a strategic member of the St. Mary’s team that helped our staff and employees during this transition.
Sr. Mary Grace had served the Pallottines and their ministries in the following ways: Board of Trustees for St. Mary’s Medical Center; Board of Trustees of Mountain Health Network; Board Chair for Pallottine Foundation of Huntington, Inc.; Board Chair for Pallottine Foundation of Buckhannon, Inc.; Board of Trustees for Pallottine Renewal Center and Board of Trustees for St. Vincent Pallotti High School.
Sr. Mary Grace’s church family was the parishioners at St. Stephen’s Parish in Ona, W.Va. She had served on the parish council and was a member of the church choir.

She worked in accounts payable in charge of payroll for the Collin County Sheriffs Office where she made many friends. She is survived by her loving and caring daughter and son-in-law, Mary Shay (Paul) Slone; a sister-in-law, Rita Miller; several nieces and nephews; and a special friend that was like a sister, Jeannie Slone. She enjoyed singing in church on Sundays. She also enjoyed taking the boys camping and fishing. She also picked up a hobby of crocheting and very much enjoyed doing that in her spare time. In addition to her mother she was preceded in death by one brother, Kenneth Eplion; and her sister, Tina Goodrich. In addition to her father she is survived by her three sons, Thomas (Courtney) Ramey, Timothy Ramey, and Richard Ramey Jr.; twelve grandchildren; and one great grandchild on the way. She is also survived by one brother, Randall Eplion; one sister, Theresa Stevens and a host of nieces and nephews; and a special friend, Mary Ann Eplion. Obituary Preview: The family of Judy Burford Davis of Huntington, WV is deeply saddened to announce that she passed away on March 20, 2024 after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Judy left us too soon at the age of 60, wrapped in the arms of her husband and children, and
surrounded by loved ones.
Judy and her twin sister were born at Cabell Huntington Hospital on August 17, 1963. She attended Huntington High School and at the age of 16 met the love of her life, Jeff Davis. She attended college at Marshall University and joined the Alpha Xi Delta Sorority where she solidified some of the most important friendships of her life. She finished
Marshall with a M.B.A. and a Bachelor of Science in Finance & Business Law.
After 10 years of dating, Judy married Jeff, her high school sweetheart, on April 8, 1989. In 1991, they welcomed their daughter Ashley into their family and three years later their
son, Austin. Judy was an accomplished and highly awarded pharmaceutical sales representative for Bayer for 20 years. After retiring from Bayer, she decided to open a small business that would benefit her hometown. She had always dreamed of owning a small gift shop and made her dream a reality when she opened Wildflower Gift Gallery, the first business to open in The Market in downtown Huntington. Judy poured her heart and soul into her
business, even after being diagnosed with breast cancer shortly after opening her shop. She loved searching for quality gifts and local artisan goods to fill the tables, walls, and floors of her store so that she could help anyone find the perfect gift. Judy continued to
make purchases for her business up until her final days. Until the very end, Judy’s faith and spirit held strong. She continued to tell jokes, buy gifts for loved ones, and give lots of love and affection to everyone around her. She also never stopped singing and shared her love of music with everyone, from her church
choir to duets with her twin sister. The warmth in her voice will be deeply missed. Judy leaves behind a legacy of joy, kindness, and generosity that will be missed by everyone who knew her. She is survived by her husband, Jeff Davis, who stood right by her side through all of life’s joys and very tough trials. Together they built a home and a life of laughter, joy, and unbreakable love. She is also survived by her two children, Ashley and Austin, their significant others, Cody and Anna, her three siblings, Jill, Jeanne Anne, and Mark, and their spouses, Phil, Marc, and Stephanie. On her husband’s side, she is survived by her mother-in law, Leona Davis, her sister-in-laws, Pam, Cheryl, and Tina, and their significant others, Mike and Danny. Her heart overflowed with love for her nieces and nephews: Shelby, Alex, Abby, Chase, Bobby, Brooks, Michael, Sarah, Danielle, Jason, and Morgan. She is also deeply mourned by her life-long best friends Michele, Stephanie, Lee and her Bunco Group. She is
preceded in death by her parents, Jeanne and Bob Burford, and her brother Jimmy. All funeral services will be held at First United Methodist Church on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Visitation with the family will be from 10 AM - 1 PM, service at 1 PM, and burial at
Springhill Cemetery directly after the service.
