Shirley Hansen - December 28, 1934 - April 03, 2024

Departed: 04/03/2024 (Sun City)
Obituary Preview: In loving memory of Shirley Hansen
Shirley Hansen had a long and accomplished life. She had an interminable strength and spirit.
She was the oldest of 13 brothers and sisters, where she got her start as a loving care giver. Her giant family was a source of strength, love and dedication throughout her long life.
Her language of love continued as she married her husband, Carl Hansen, and had two daughters, Kathy and Diana. She was a fun mother. Our home was filled to music, play and happiness. Summers were filled with great outdoor adventures. Christmas and Easter were magical times in our household. She taught us the importance of a good education, friendships and caring for others.
I believe one of her favorite roles was Grandmother to Marnie, Jillian and Kristina. She was fun and adventurous, teaching them to craft and see beauty in making things, singing and playing. It was one of her greatest joys to be a part of their lives and share in their experiences, successes, and challenges.
She served as a Sunday School teacher at First Lutheran Church for decades. She delighted in being the first teacher to most of the congregation’s children. Her music and stories filled the church with happiness and laughter. Her high spirits and energy always made vacation bible school a fun and exciting week.
Her love and giving continued as she helped raise 81 children through her childcare journey. She became dedicated to helping young families build their own loving and happy families by making sure each child received unconditional love and support while the parents worked.
Shirley loved nature and creatures. Trees, flowers, gardens, squirrels, birds, bunnies, and her dogs, Taffy though the 2nd Mitzi. They brought her immense joy.
She was love personified. A strong, unbendable force, she modeled love and strength and courage every day. She was the glue that kept that kept us accountable, present and involved. Her smile could melt your heart and warm your soul.
She is survived by her daughters and their families Kathy and Robert Anderson, Diana and Paul Fahringer, her granddaughters Marnie, Jillian and Kristina. Her sister and brothers Mariann Kollbaum, Dave Millie, John Millie, Joy Millie, Judy Rezac, Jan Ranslem, Mollie Anderson, Mish Gutz, and Randy Millie and their families, Her sister/brother-in-law, Elenore and Jim Merritt and their families. Her extended childcare families, her beloved Broadmoor neighbors including Randy and Kerri Rahn. May she rest in peace with her greatest love Carl, her parents, and her family and friends that passed before her.
Family requests no flowers, please donate to National Forest Foundation or your favorite charities in her name. Gravesite service will be April 11, 2024 at 1 PM at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona.

Richard Steve Bogue - September 21, 1941 - March 24, 2024

Departed: 03/24/2024 (Sun City)
Obituary Preview: In the rose-colored hues of a setting sun over Arizona, a bright star dimmed as Dick Bogue, aged 82, took his final bow on the night of Sunday, March 24th. Born on September 21, 1941, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, Dick's life was a radiant journey that brought light and laughter to all who were fortunate enough to cross his path. Survived by siblings Pudge, Jaxine & Peck. His departure, hastened by the swift progression of Lewy body dementia, has left a void in the hearts of many, a testament to the love and joy he bestowed upon his world.
Dick leaves behind a legacy of love with his wife of 50 years, Terry Bogue, the beacon of his life and partner in adventure. Together, they nurtured a family that was both successful and happy, a direct reflection of their love and dedication. Cameron and Derrick, their two children, are living tributes to their father's spirit, embodying the brilliance and creativity that Dick so passionately supported and celebrated. Derrick's success and artistic creativity, and Cameron's ventures stand as proud accomplishments, alongside the enduring love and support he provided his family through 25 years of entrepreneurship.
To know Dick was to know joy. He was the life of every party, a master storyteller, with a wit as quick as lightning and a humor that could brighten the darkest of days. Holidays were his stage, where he entertained with sumptuous feasts, from Portland Oregon to the town of Radisson Saskatchewan, he had a way of making any place feel like home, where friends and family gathered to share in the beauty of the Coastal seasons to the spectacle of Prairie lightning storms. His love for cooking was legendary, from seafood extravaganzas to his famous Spanish omelets. His traveling cooking show most likely has made a tour stop near you.
Dick had two hobbies: golf and making non-cellular telephone calls. His passion for golf, shared with Terry, was more than a hobby; it was a bond that brought them closer, taking them from Fraserview in Vancouver and motivating their move to Sun City. Whether playing together with Terry, with his friends in the Men’s League or with The Bandit's; Dick found the most happiness while being on the course. His creative spirit found joy in art classes, while his love for connection shone through in the long, heartfelt conversations he had with loved ones, friends & family.
What endeared Dick most to those around him was his unwavering spirit as an entertainer, a compassionate partner, and a fun-loving soul who always saw the bright side of life. His home was a haven of hospitality, where his skills as a chef and his generous heart made every guest feel cherished and valued.
Dick's departure is not an end but a transition, as his legacy of love, laughter, and light lives on in every heart he touched. In every chuckle shared over a remembered joke, in every storm watched with awe, in every golf swing taken with friends, Dick's spirit endures, a reminder of the joy and beauty life holds.
Farewell, Dick Bogue. Your journey was a masterpiece, and though the final curtain has fallen, your encore will resonate in our hearts forever.

Lyle Blattert - September 27, 1940 - February 11, 2024

Departed: 02/11/2024 (Sun City)
Obituary Preview: Lyle Blattert passed away peacefully on February 11, 2024 at the age of 83 in Peoria, Arizona.
Lyle was a kind and thoughtful soul and will be missed and remembered by many lives he touched. He will be remembered for all the heart he shared with his friends and family. He truly loved each of them, and if you knew him, you knew it. When his time came, he carried himself with dignity, strength, and full of love for those who went before him. He will be missed dearly.
Born September 27, 1940, to Albert and Rose Blattert, Lyle lived his young life in Stanton, Nebraska and graduated from Wayne State College with a double major in physics and chemistry in 1963. Lyle is survived by his wife of 58 ½ years Roberta (Bobbie), daughter Jodi, sister Genevieve McMahon and 5 nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his parents and brother Dale.
Lyle was strong willed and stubborn at times, but he also had an enormous heart and wonderful sense of humor. He was a keen sportsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting and later an avid animal enthusiast, supporting and adopting homeless four-legged creatures. He was clever and full to the brim with knowledge gained though all his life experiences.
After graduating from Wayne State College, he was a high school physical sciences teacher along with football, wrestling, and golf coach at Howells high school in Nebraska and Mt Horeb high school in Wisconsin. Lyle left teaching to embark on a 43-year career in chemical and equipment sales and while covering vast territories he discovered a passion for travelling.
Lyle was a fun spirited soul that enjoyed “tinkering” on projects and was truly an artist with an engineering flare. He was known for creating elaborate and beautiful Christmas décor for family each year (there were a lot of deer). His favorite places were the Rocky Mountains and a good Mexican restaurant with a Margarita in hand.
Thank you to everyone for your thoughts and prayers for Lyle and the Blattert family! Lyle was a beautiful person inside and out. His smile was so stunning, it would light up the whole room. He cared deeply for the people around him, as he was so kind and passionate. He will be forever missed. Until we meet again.
As an expression of his passion for animal shelters and rescue agencies, memorial contributions may be sent to Four Paws Rescue, www.4pawsrescue.org.
