Carole Lancaster - September 01, 1934 - May 12, 2024

Departed: 05/12/2024 (Seminole)
Obituary Preview: Carole Therese Lancaster, 89, of Largo passed away May 12, 2024, Mother’s Day, at Arden Courts ALF in Seminole. Born and raised in Cleveland Ohio, she graduated from St Vincent Charity Hospital Nursing School in 1954. She was preceded in death by her parents Edwin and Lillian Hendrickson, her brother, Edwin Jr., her husband, Robert, her daughter-in-law, Nancy, and her grandson, Bradley Gay. Carole is survived by her sister, Diane, her six children (Bob, Mary, Peter, Tom, Paul and John), her 24 grandchildren and 25 great- grandchildren. For most of her adult life, Carole was a parishioner of St Jude’s Cathedral in St Petersburg FL. All her children attended the parish school and Carole was active in the Women’s Guild. When her children were all in school, Carole worked alongside her husband in his medical practice, putting her nursing skills to use. She and Robert loved to travel. When her family was young, they went on summer camping trips to various parts of the US. Additionally, they frequently visited their native Cleveland, Ohio to see relatives. When their children were older, they took the entire family to Europe several times. It wasn’t easy traveling with 6 children, but Carole was always up to the challenge! Later on, her selfless disposition was most evident when she was called on to help her sons, Tom and Paul, take care of their children. She didn’t hesitate to rise to the occasion. She cooked, cleaned and shuttled her grandchildren to school. It was difficult, but her love made it work! In her senior years, Carole attended daily Mass, enjoyed bargain hunting and going to lunch. Daughter-in-law, Flannery, often joined her and probably has many stories to tell!
Finally, after Carole was diagnosed with dementia, her oldest grandchild, Chris, his wife, Katie, and great-granddaughter, Ciara, moved into Carole’s house to help care for her. It was difficult but the 4 ultimately formed a close bond. With “Grandma” on her deathbed, Ciara, only 7, asked to sit alone with her and say a rosary. Carole died soon thereafter. She will be missed by all.
A Funeral Mass will be held at St Jerome’s Catholic Church in Largo, Florida at 11 am, Saturday, May 18. A luncheon will be immediately following in the Parkview Room, Seminole City Park, 7464 Ridge Rd Seminole, FL 33772. Burial and graveside ceremony will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery at 1 pm on Monday, May 20th.

Susan E Swichtenberg - October 07, 1948 - March 23, 2024

Departed: 03/23/2024 (Seminole)
Obituary Preview: Susan "Sue" Swichtenberg, 75, of Largo, FL passed away March 23, 2024 after a long struggle with several health issues. Sue was born October 7, 1948 in Barrington, Illinois to William and June Kolkmeyer. She attended school in Barrington as well. After Willie passed away in 1966, June, Sue, and older brother John traveled the country and then returned to Barrington. Shortly thereafter, Sue met Roger at the local bowling alley. Sue and Roger married in March 1969 after just a few months of dating. Sue was immediately embraced by the large Swichtenberg family!
Sue & Roger welcomed their daughter, Jodi in January 1972 and their son, Jason in May 1975. Less than a year later, the Swichtenberg family packed up and moved to Florida for warmer weather. Jodi & Jason were Sue's whole world. There wasn't anything she wouldn't do for them and she was proud of her title of "Domestic Engineer" for years. She eventually started working part time at Dr. Jurado's office in Largo, then later full-time at Suncoast Internal Medicine Consultants, also in Largo, for 18 years, earning her beloved title of "Switchboard Sue," & forming strong lifelong friendships. After SIMC, she worked with the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office for 7 years before retiring. She absolutely loved her job and her coworkers. Sue was notorious for raising alot of money for the Sheriff’s Office Cadets, earning her top recognition for the "dine out day" fundraiser every year she worked there!
Mom loved her crafts and was an expert cross-stitcher. She and a group of friends stitched all year, then hosted an annual holiday craft boutique. Later, she fell in love with quilting and continued to quilt even in the assisted living facility. Sue's favorite role of her lifetime was Grandma. Jake, Jaye, and Rylie were born to Jodi and her husband John here in Florida. Sage and Jordan were born to Jason and his wife Ariadne in Georgia. We thought Sue was a great Mom but holy cow, being Gigi & Grammy Sue was everything!
Roger, Sue's best friend, and husband of 43 years passed away twelve years ago. She struggled with this loss and it took a toll on her health and happiness.
Sue touched so many lives and her loss will be felt for a long time. But she is now at peace, cruising away with Roger.

Your wings were ready, but our hearts were not.
In loving memory of Katherine June (Kathy) Motriuk. Born on May 21, 1931, in Louden, Tennessee and received her angel wings
unexpectedly but peacefully on February 25, 2024, at the age of 92. The simple pleasures in life brought great happiness to Mom. So many wonderful
highlights of the life of this beautiful woman we were blessed to call our Momma.
All our precious memories allow us to hold her forever close to us. Mom spent many years of her life sewing clothes in factories in Knoxville, Tennessee and Largo, Florida. She also enjoyed meeting people while working in many restaurants. The profession she loved the most and excelled at was being
the matriarch of our family. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, great aunt, wife, mother, grandmother,
great grandmother and friend. Mom lived her life with compassion, caring and love for everyone she knew. Her light shined bright for everyone blessed to cross her path in life. Her beautiful
smile and laughter lit our world. Mom was a gifted seamstress. As a young Mom and wife of a Baptist Preacher she
would design and make beautiful matching dresses for herself and all of her girls. Making her own patterns out of discarded newspapers. She enjoyed making crafts and had an entire room dedicated to her workspace and supplies. She also enjoyed golfing, bingo, dances and socializing with her wonderful friends at Top of
The World. She lived most of her life in Pinellas County, Florida. However, before settling at Top of The World in Clearwater she and her husband Otto, spent spring and summers in Upper Michigan with many visits to Mackinac Island. Mom loved traveling to the Smoky Mountains, Hawaii and our award-winning beaches in Pinellas County. One of her greatest joys was a yearly trip with family to St. Pete Beach for a week of fun, relaxation and precious time with those she loved most
in life. Mom enjoyed the spectacular sunsets that God created for all to see. Mom was predeceased and is now reunited with her husband, Otto Motriuk, her parents, Hazel and Henry Marcum, her sister, Nadine Sherritze, her brother,
Gerald Marcum and her precious daughter, Karen Pudela. She is survived by her daughters, Sherry Ekberg (David), Diana Parker (Howard), Pamela Merritt (Lee), son Larry Bayles (Shelly), son in law, Paul Pudela and bonus
son, Jimmy Bayles. She is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Lisa Johnson, Phillip Ekberg, Timothy
Ekberg, Chad Parker, Kristina Melnick, Amy Giordano and Jason Beatty. 13 great grandchildren, Andrew, Tyler & Connor Johnson, Kaydon, Kayla & Kollin Parker, Logan & Colten Melnick, Jayden Beatty, Ezekiel, Emersyn & Eden Ekberg
and Avery Katherine Giordano. Mom you are loved more than there are stars in the night sky. Your bright light will shine for all of us who loved you forever. We will miss the tenderness of your loving arms, but you will continue to be our guidance in our life's journeys without you. We celebrate your life and words cannot express the loss we feel of
your leaving us.
Fly high and free of pain our beautiful angel until we meet again.

Judith Anne White - May 25, 1943 - November 05, 2023

Departed: 11/05/2023 (Seminole)
Obituary Preview: Judith Anne White went to be with her Father in Heaven today. She was 80 years old. She was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA and graduated from Schenley High School. She married Jack Andrew Ruffner and together they had two children, Kristine Anne and David Andrew. In 1979, she moved to Seminole, Florida with her children and second husband Joseph White.
She is survived by her daughter Kristine Ruffner, her granddaughter Jillian M Ruffner, her siblings Kathleen Schwenning (James), William (Victoria), LouAnn Shaffer (SIL) and John Shaffer. She is reunited with her parents Anna Skoko-Shaffer and William Shaffer, her son David Andrew Ruffner, her brother Eugene, sister Joan and many family and friends who now greet her as she takes her place beside her true Father in Heaven.
Judy lived a full and happy life that touched so many. She loved being around people and loved being active and involved, whether at church, with her kids, at work or when pursuing her own passions. She was a woman of very strong faith. And she turned to that faith in both good times and bad for strength and guidance. Even though she was in Florida and her family still lived in Pittsburgh she kept in close touch regularly. She returned to Pittsburgh to visit as often as possible, and family came to visit often. Some of our best memories were of the whole family sitting around the kitchen table, talking and laughing until our faces hurt.
Judy has always been very creative. She was a long time member of her church choir at both Holy Spirit Church in West Mifflin, PA and Blessed Sacrament in Seminole, FL. During her time at Holy Spirit, she choreographed performances of Jesus Christ Superstar and Godspell for the church’s Youth Group.
She loved crafts and going to craft festivals in the fall. She especially loved painting t-shirts and giving them that extra sparkle, whether it was with glitter, sequins or sparkly paint. She could turn any plain shirt into something special. As a dance teacher she had plenty of opportunities to give her kids’ costumes that extra bling.
But above all Judy was a dancer. She began dancing at a very young age and all through high school. And while she put up her dance shoes to raise her family, she couldn’t stay away forever. It all began with a simple Jazzercise class. She enjoyed it so much, she considered teaching, but wanted to be able to do her own choreography. So she studied and got certification as an aerobics instructor. She made physical fitness safe and accessible to seniors as an aerobics instructor in her Sit and Be Fit classes at the Seminole Rec Center. After several very successful years, she returned to her true love of tap dancing. She started taking tap classes at Jeanne Lynn Dance Studio, and after several years she was invited to teach tap and continued teaching until she retired in 2017. To this day, her kids talk about their time with Miss Judy. Not only did she teach them love dancing, but also taught them to be confident, disciplined and how to work as a team. And they loved her for it.
Judy was a daughter, a sister, a mother, a wife, a grandmother, a friend, and a teacher. But it is her kind heart, generous nature, and her dedication to her family and friends that will be remembered most as we celebrate her life and mourn her passing.
