Patricia A. Schuster - January 19, 1928 - April 16, 2024

Departed: 04/16/2024 (Sylvania)
Obituary Preview: Patricia A. Schuster slipped away from this world and joined her beloved husband, John Edward Schuster, in Heaven, on April 16, 2024.  Pat was born January 19, 1928, in Toledo, Ohio to John “Alvin” and Esther (Knott) Feltis. On October 22, 1949, Pat married the love of her life, John E. Schuster. Early in their marriage, they moved to their forever home in Sylvania, a mile from where John was born. Together they raised three sons, John (Jackie), Gary (Lisa), and Tom. John and his Patsy would have celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary last year, but John left early to make sure their Heavenly home would be just how his wife would like it. The couple loved to entertain friends, play cards, and host family events in a house filled with love and laughter.
As Mom, Grandma, and Great-Grandma, Pat exemplified unconditional love for family; especially for her “boys,” who in her eyes, could do no wrong. She’d only grin and nod when teased by her daughters-in-law about this fact, but truthfully, they were also welcomed into her life and love, with open arms, as were any children they had, who were seen as a wonderful bonus.
While Pat considered her greatest achievement to be her family, she was also proud that her “Holiday Cranberry Pie” was the winning recipe in a local contest, earning her a cash prize and her picture in the newspaper. She loved to play, and win, at games and cards, even reaching impressively high levels in Tetris on the (grandchildren’s) Nintendo. She’d get the same victorious glow and feisty grin on her face after she’d succeeded in properly irritating John, but he could never stay mad, and they’d soon be back to their usual banter.
Pat loved to go out with friends and travel, often “informing” John that they were going on a trip with another couple or the church’s Leisure League, leading them to have an active life with many fun times and adventures. This gave Pat an endless supply of stories to share with the family, which she did happily and with no regard to protests of it having been told before. Her incredible memory for detail helped bring her stories to life, and her joy in the telling was reflected on her face, which made listening to them worthwhile every time.
Pat loved cats, and dogs, and bird watching. She and John had several Shelties – but a little Yorkie named Georgie became her faithful four-legged companion for the last years of her life.
Pat is survived by her sons; grandchildren, Thomas, Jeffrey, Amanda, Shelby, Matthew, Heather, Michael, Courtney, and Billy and great-grandchildren, Chase, Maddy, Claire, Nora, Mackenzie, Atlas, and Fletcher, and her niece, Sue, with whom she shared a special connection. She was preceded in death by her beloved sister, Mary E. Kleparek, and brother, John R. Feltis.
The phrase, “everybody loved Pat,” is not an exaggeration, and we will miss her immensely, but there's no doubt that this woman of faith is in Heaven, reunited with John and her family, getting the house, snacks, and decks of cards ready for a fun time with the new friends they’ve undoubtably made already. Rest easy Pat, Mom, Patsy, Grandma, and we'll see you when we get there. You were simply the best, Beautiful Lady, and we were so blessed to have you.

Departed: 04/16/2024 (Sylvania)
Obituary Preview: Victoria “Vicki” Anne (Zytkus) Stroll devoted her life to helping others, especially her beloved son Christopher. After a life of service, Vicki passed away quietly on April 16, 2024 at the age of 72.
Vicki was a gifted and hard-working student who graduated from Sylvania High School and Bowling Green State University. She served as a veterinary technician and then, true to her call to service, Vicki chose a career in nursing. She received her nursing degree through the University of Toledo and worked at Flower Hospital beginning in1992 and retiring in 2016.
In 1980 Vicki wed Fred Stroll, beginning a 40+ year partnership. Christopher arrived in 1984. He was her life’s true joy. Family interests included boating and vacations near the water. Vicki was an excellent cook, often fearlessly adding her own touch to recipes. She loved dogs, and the family welcomed several over the years, recently including a senior dog named Esther. Vicki said that Esther deserved to have a good home in her later years.
At age 10, Vicki decided on her own to attend Sylvania United Church of Christ. As time went on, she became a very active member, serving on several Boards and committees including being the church Clerk for a four-year term. The church became Vicki’s extended family and Vicki and Christopher greatly appreciated the support provided by church members, particularly throughout her last years.
Vicki fought many health battles, beginning with breast cancer in the early 2000s. Later she was diagnosed with ovarian cancer, and in 2021 she experienced a recurrence of breast cancer. Despite these personal challenges, she cared for her husband Fred as his health and cognition declined, and for her son Christopher who has a chronic and progressive physical disability.  She was instrumental in ensuring that Christopher attended and graduated from the University of Toledo where he received his engineering degree.
Vicki never complained about her life challenges. She was unfailingly upbeat. A kind and generous friend, she was always ready to offer support and wise counsel.
Vicki is survived by her son Christopher, her stepsons Frank and Brian Stroll, and her stepdaughters Debbie and Tammy. She was preceded in death by her husband Fred, half-brother James Heskett, and by her parents Chester and Helen Zytkus.

Phyllis Rupp Pawlicki - July 01, 1932 - April 01, 2024

Departed: 04/01/2024 (Sylvania)
Obituary Preview: Phyllis Mae Rupp Pawlicki July 1, 1932 - March 29, 2024
Phyllis Mae Rupp Pawlicki, age 91, passed away peacefully in Sylvania, Ohio on Friday March 29th, 2024. She is survived by her children K. David (Martha), Michael (Therese) and Julie; 9 grandchildren Seth, Paola, Mario, Timothy, Alexandra, Colleen, Andrew, Lauren, Joseph; and 4 great grandchildren Caleb, Elijah, Eliana, and Benjamin.  Phyllis was born in Toledo, Ohio and graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1950. During high school, she expressed many wonderful memories working after school with her cousins Elizabeth and Jeanne at their local dress store.  She went on to study business at the  University of Toledo and transferred to Miami University of Ohio in 1953. While at Miami she joined the Delta Delta Delta Sorority and was honored to be the Homecoming Queen in 1953.
On May 7, 1955, she married Clarence “Doc” Pawlicki and they shared a wonderful life together.  Golf was one of their favorite pastimes. She maintained many friendships that began on the golf course “chasing the silly white ball”.  She won the Ladies Club Championship in 1991 and she and Doc won the “Jack and Jill” Couples Championship 1989 both at the Inverness Club.  She had 3 holes in one during her lifetime and continued to play 3 rounds of golf per week up to age 89.  She also enjoyed playing bridge, singing in the choir, and baking her amazing sugar cookies for her grandchildren. And we will all cherish her poems that she carefully wrote in each of our birthday cards. Mom was a beautiful woman inside and out,
She taught us to smile and hold back our pout. She taught us to be frugal and not to waste,
to take our time and not do things in haste. She taught us to be faithful and that prayers matter,
and to put extra vanilla into all cookie batter. She found everyone's gift and encouraged us to grow,
believing in us when we didn’t know. She cared for all living creatures with unconditional love,
She will always be remembered in the heavens above.
A private service will be at the Toledo Memorial Cemetery. “No need for a celebration, my family deserves all the admiration.”     ~ Mom
