Obituary Preview: SMSgt (Ret) David A. Davis passed from life at home in Alamogordo to eternal life with Jesus his Lord and Savior Monday 7 February.  Dave was born in Vancouver, British Columbia 31 July 1932 and was a military man from the womb.  His Dad was in the RCAF and Dave, though not legally of age, joined the Air Force Cadets when he was just 11.  After high school, he moved to Seattle, Washington with his folks and joined the USAF in 1951.
First stop Lackland AFB, Texas of course, follow by Sheppard AFB, Texas; Louisiana Polytechnic Institute, Ruston, Louisiana; Hamilton AFB, California; a little radar site at Yaak, Montana; Osan, Korea; Tsuiki Air Base, Japan; and Wheelus AFB, North Africa all in four years.
In October 1955, on his way from Libya, he stopped at Trenton RCAF base in Ontario, Canada to visit his brother where he met Lucille.  That night after a swim in the base pool, snack in the snack bar, he walked Lucille back to her barracks, proposed marriage and they were married four months later in her home church in Surrey, British Columbia.  They began their 65 years of marriage at Paine Field AFB, Everett, Washington where they were stationed for 8 years.  While there, daughter Jill and son Lee were born and then PCSs began again.  Orlando AFB in Florida; Spangdahlem AFB, Germany; Holloman AFB, New Mexico; a two year tour as a courier stationed at West Ruislip Air Station, London, England; Edwards AFB, California; Eglin AFB, Florida; Hickam AFB, Hawaii and back to Holloman for one year and then retirement having served happily doing maintenance analysis for twenty-six years.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Peggy Davis of Camano Island, Washington; daughter, Jill of Alamogordo dd 5 April 2020, and brother, George of Kelowna, B. C. dd November 2021. Dave is survived by his loving wife, Lucille, son LtCol (Ret) Lee Davis, darling Granddaughter, Rylee Davis of Las Cruces and some wonderful cousins in Alberta.  ”Many friends at Westminster Presbyterian Church; a special friend: Dick Richey who took over my job as church treasurer and was always around to cheer me up when things were not going well.  Family, church and country…so what more can a person ask for?” Dave was a faithful member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, serving many years as treasurer and deacon.  Along with the many deacon duties, (all of which he did willingly …except plumbing), one year he and Deacon John Solomon reroofed the church.  He and Luz loved to bowl together at Holloman and in the Senior Olympics all over the state and at St. George, Utah.  He was a great pinochle player, read a lot, enjoyed documentaries and war movies, anything that involved wood and power tools, and was a news junkie.  He could tell you anything that was going on at any given time anywhere on the planet.  For over thirty years he enjoyed Ranchmen’s Camp Meetings on the Nogal Mesa until the elevation got to be too much.  He quit smoking in 1976 but it wasn’t soon enough.  For too many of his last years he struggled to breathe with lungs that were damaged beyond repair.  So when covid hit, even having been vaxed, he couldn’t recover like nonsmokers do.  Even with added oxygen through tubes and tethered to the concentrator, breathing was always labored and uncertain, not knowing if there would be enough.  But through it all, he asserted, “Thy will be done.”

Geddes William Kujaneck - July 18, 1927 - May 30, 2021

Departed: 05/30/2021 (Alamogordo)
Obituary Preview: Geddes William Kujaneck passed away peacefully in his own home on May 30, 2021, at the age of 93.  Geddes was born to William and Elsie Kujaneck on July 18, 1927 in Concord, New York. He spent most of his childhood in the Franklinville area of New York.  He had a keen interest in different types of motors and engines and could explain the mechanics of them to anyone who took the time to listen.  As a teenager, he built himself an electric bike of which he was very proud.  He graduated from Ten Broeck Academy in Franklinville, New York on June 6, 1945. Geddes married Betty Marie Woodruff, a childhood friend, on November 16, 1945, in Elkton, Maryland.  He was enlisted in the United States Army shortly thereafter and received an honorable discharge on August 23, 1946.
Although Geddes never received an official degree, he was a self-taught mechanical, as well as, electrical engineer.  He understood the underlying theories and principals of engineering and was able to compute elaborate calculations in his head.  He could come up with a solution to almost any problem he encountered.  Geddes loved to invent things and improve upon things already invented.   Early on, he worked at a machine shop in Springville, New York and later at a knife factory in Franklinville, New York.   He eventually took a job at Niagara Mohawk Electric Company in Allegany, New York and spent many years reading electric meters.  On occasion, he would even come home with a new pet given to him by a customer.  One of the most famous was a talking crow named Amy Bird. He told countless, entertaining stories about his experiences reading meters.   In addition to reading meters, he had his own business repairing radios and TVs as well as doing welding jobs for local farmers.  In 1964 Geddes moved his family of five, across country, from New York to New Mexico.  There he found a temporary job working for the radio station KABQ in Albuquerque.  He eventually settled in Alamogordo, New Mexico where he worked for Industrial Communications repairing two-way radios and transmitters for the police department as well for the military.
Later, he and his wife Betty moved to Englewood, Florida where he opened his own business called Englewood TV.   Here they sold TVs and repaired them, as well as installed antennas for customers.  Geddes did many of the TV repairs and installations himself.  In addition, he was an engineer for a local TV station.  Betty did a great job taking care of the books and talking to people when they came into the shop.  Twenty-one years ago, after retiring, Geddes and Betty moved back to Alamogordo.  They enjoyed being close to their daughter Rita, son in law Norman and grandchildren.  They spent a great deal of time traveling around the country in their RV seeing beautiful and interesting places, as well as visiting family members and friends.  We were blessed to have Geddes for so many years.  He will be greatly missed. Geddes was proceeded in death by Betty on October 7, 2017, and by their son Bryan Kujaneck on May 29, 2004.  He is survived by his brother Curtis Kujaneck of New York, son Daniel Kujaneck of San Francisco, Ca., and daughter Rita Lackey of Alamogordo, NM.  He is also survived by his six grandchildren:  Carissa Pittman, Nathanael Lackey, Jennifer Burks, Rachel Burks, Adrian Agagino and Jacob Kujaneck.  In addition, he is survived by his thirteen great grandchildren:  Allen, Kyle and Emily Pittman, Megan Lackey, Katie, Ruth and Emmet Burks, Taylor and Luke Burks, Leon and Andrew Agagino and Drake Bryan and Azalea Fay Kujaneck.

Who typically writes an obituary?

In most cases, the obituary is written by a family member or close friend of the deceased, often with the assistance of a funeral home or obituary writer. The writer should be someone who knew the person well and can provide an accurate and personalized account of their life.

What information should be included in an obituary?

A typical obituary includes the person's full name, age, date of birth and death, place of residence, occupation, education, military service, hobbies, achievements, and surviving family members. It may also include information about the funeral or memorial service, charity donations, and any other relevant details.
