Obituary Preview: Michele Suzanne Louard was born on August 12, 1949, in New York, New York, to Lillian M. (Dyer) Louard and Warren Gilbert Louard.  Also known as Mikki, Michele became an ancestor on February 22, 2022, after an extended illness.
Michele graduated from Hempstead High School in Hempstead, New York, in 1967 and went on to study psychology at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania.  She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in June 1971.  At Lincoln, Michele met and fell in love with Walter “Butch” Malone, Jr.  Michele and Butch moved to Washington, DC, where they married in February 1973 and gave birth to their only child, Kamau Asim Malone, in November 1975.
Michele was an excellent employee who received various awards and commendations throughout her career.  While employed at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection, she earned the Commissioner’s Award for Excellence in Mission Support.  She retired from Customs and Border Protection as a Human Resources Specialist in August 2018.  Outside of work, Michele enjoyed reading spy fiction, listening to music, solving word puzzles, and watching HGTV.
Michele is preceded in death by her parents Lillian and Warren, stepmother Cleopatra Louard, husband Walter Malone, Jr., sister Angelique Louard, and brother F. James William Olson - August 18, 1951 - February 20, 2022

Obituary Preview: James (Jim) William Olson, age 70, died unexpectedly after a brief heart-related illness on February 20, 2022, at Holy Cross Hospital. He was born in Johnson City, NY on August 18, 1951, to William and Gwendolyn (Betty) Olson. He is survived by his son, Evan Olson (Kellie) of Broomfield, Colorado, his loving partner, Louise Janus, and his brother, David Olson, of Florida. He and his wife Robin separated in 2005.
He lived in Johnson City until age 11, when his family moved to Berwyn Heights, Maryland. He went to High Point High School and graduated from the University of Maryland, majoring in English Literature with a minor in Philosophy.
He was a professional jazz pianist, playing at various venues in the D.C. metropolitan area for over 40 years. He released his CD "Evidence of Things Not Seen" in 2019 with the assistance of the Prince George's Arts and Humanities Council. He also taught privately.  Baseball was a favorite pastime of his and he played in the Ponce De Leon baseball league for many years, including the past fall season.  He will be remembered for his wide-ranging intellect, creativity, tenderness, and love of animals. ****
A memorial service will be held in March.

Obituary Preview: Glenn Jeffrey Wolf (69), born April 15, 1952 in Russellville, AR, son of the late Ruth and Robert Wolf, died unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on February 17th, 2022 at home in Greenbelt, MD.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Elizabeth Eny, son David Wolf (Danielle) and Laura Tsampas (Alexandros); preceded in death by brother Terry (Lynn). Loving grandfather of Calder and Beckett, and anticipating the arrival of a granddaughter in the coming weeks. Also survived by siblings; sister Nancy Wolf-Fisher (Joe) and brother Richard (Gail).
Glenn grew up in Cheverly, MD and spent the majority of his life in Greenbelt, MD. He graduated from Bladensburg High School and studied at Allegheny College, PA. He worked in the automotive field before landing at Olympic Auto Parts, where he worked his way up and purchased the College Park store in 1986. He expanded Maryland Olympic to multiple stores and over a hundred employees. He retired in 2013.
Glenn always enjoyed traveling, including numerous cross country road trips, going to watch auto racing, or simply exploring new places. He loved camping at Lake George, NY long into adulthood after going there as a child with his parents. He and Liz enjoyed their second home on St. Leonard’s Creek in Calvert County, where he regularly enjoyed boating. He also enjoyed international travel.
Sports was a passion for Glenn - both participating and watching. He grew up playing tennis, baseball, and basketball. He loved playing softball and snow skiing with his children and younger brother, especially enjoying trips to Canada and Switzerland.  Glenn had a razor sharp and very sarcastic wit, he was extensively well read, and had one of the most brilliant minds one could know. His ability with numbers, beginning from the time he was in kindergarten, was truly phenomenal.  He was very devoted to his immediate and extended family, he adored his grandchildren and was a great companion to his many animals through the years, cats Mr. Bill and Mindy, and dogs Rudy, Zack, Zoe, and Riley.

John Anthony Ward, Sr. - April 27, 1961 - February 04, 2022

Obituary Preview: John Anthony Ward, Sr., known to many as “Tony”, was born to the late James Ward and Catherine Lee on April 27, 1961 in Washington, DC.   During his childhood he attended New Mt. Zion Pentecostal Church of Christ.  In 2002, he joined Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Terry D. Streeter.
John enlisted in the Navy immediately after high school to serve his Country and see the world.  He was part of the crash and salvage crew on the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier from 1979 until his Honorable Discharge in 1985.  From 1985 – 2002, John was a local truck driver where he made lifelong friends.  His driving and handyman skills were taught to him by his beloved stepfather, Bennie Oliphant.  In 2003, he made a career change and became a certified network computer technician.
After a 3-year courtship, John married Rochelle Rollins in 1998 on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts.  Their commitment to each other was deeply felt and evergreen. Together they encouraged their sons, Tony Jr. and Brandon to travel and be open to new experiences.   John coached Tony Jr’s YMCA basketball team and attended as many band concerts and marching band parades as possible.  He also helped Rochelle research water destinations for the Rollins’ family reunions in St. Michaels (MD), Cape May (NJ), and Outer Banks (NC).
John loved buying, fixing up, and driving cars and trucks.  His family never knew when a new vehicle would appear in their driveway.  His favorite cars included a blue and white 1955 Chevy Bel Air and a 1980 El Camino which he rebuilt with his friends.  Other cherished activities included listening to a wide range of music, watching space flights, visiting his parent’s home in Aiken, South Carolina, and expressing his love for the Oakland Raiders football team.
Over a 20-year period John was a foster parent to 10 children (ages 6 – 18 years old) from numerous racial and ethnic backgrounds.  He also volunteered as a weekly driver for the Colesville Meals on Wheels for over a decade.
John was a giving man who enjoyed talking to his elders, playing with his dogs and cats, and cooking delicious dinners for his family.  He leaves to cherish his memory a loving wife, Dr. Rochelle Rollins; sons John “Tony” Ward, Jr., Brandon Rollins (Chanelle); grandson, Jaylen Rollins; sisters Leslie Ward, Nicole “Cotton” Ward; in-laws Dr. Verdise Rollins and Dr. Iris Jeffries-Morton; aunts Annie Lee, Minnie Mitchell, Floraine King; uncle Charlie D. Obituary Preview: Lillie Mae Sims practiced her nursing for many years at the Washington Hospital Center, located in Washington DC.   Her nursing assignments included general medical care through supporting physicians performing surgical procedures.  In addition, she assisted military personnel at Walter Reed Hospital and also persons confined to their homes as a private duty nurse.  In 1973, Lillie Sims worked as the Nurse for the Thomas Johnson Middle School (formerly known as Thomas Johnson Junior High) until retirement in 1999.
Over the years, Mother Sims faithfully served in many ministries including the Pastor’s Aide, John Wesley Johnson Choir (now the Fellowship Corale), New Members, Vacation Bible School (Nurse), Nurses Ministry, Women’s Day Chairperson leading the First 100 Women in White, Altar Counselor, Deaconess Ministry and Marriage Counselor.   After taking the initial Sisters In Discipleship (SID) training, she became a facilitator from 1998 to 2016.  In recent years, Lillie Sims was also acknowledged as a “Mother” of the church.

Hodge.  Danielle attended Perry Elementary School, Shaw Junior High School and Dunbar High School where she graduated in 1961.  Danielle joined William McDonald in matrimony and of that union came Ethan Donnell and Melissa Tia McDonald.
Danielle was very caring and generous.  She will be affectionately remembered for crocheting/knitting a special blanket for every niece, nephew, or friend.  Family, friends, and coworkers admired the beautiful tissue boxes that she created with dolls. Danielle had  very unique terms of endearment for her loved ones.  To show her love she would bake a cake, a pie, or a batch of biscuits without hesitation.   Danielle enjoyed volunteering as a Foster Grandparent and dancing with friends at her favorite spot, the Glenarden American Legion.
She united  with the Open Door Baptist Church - Washington, DC on Sunday, November 1, 2009.  She stood strong in her faith and was proud of that membership under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Bernard M. Taylor.  She faithfully served in the Women’s Ministry, Helping Hand Ministry, and the Barbara Joyner J. Senior’s Ministry.
Danielle was preceded in death by her husband William “Bill” McDonald, her sisters Carolyn Brooking-Lyon and Gwendolyn Brooking, her sisters in law, Johnnie Mae,  brother--in-law Clarence and nephew Marlon Dion.
She leaves  to cherish her loving memory her beloved children, Ethan and  Melissa, her siblings Gene Hodge, James Hodge, George Hodge, Anthony Hodge, Danielle Drabik, Daniel Brooking, Jr., her aunt Annie Lee Perrin,  sisters in law, Daisy, Joanne, Deborah, brothers in law, Larry, John, Jr. “Bunny”, Ronnie, her nieces, Darnea, Carolyn, Kellie, Erica, Imani, Maika, Bianca, Ja’nai, Chauntice, Brittany and her nephews, Sir Jamar, Malik, and Khalil, and a host of other relatives and friends.
