Obituary Preview: Lawrence Edward Hall, 82, was born April 25, 1942, in Lee County, Virginia to the late Herman and Ethel Hall. He passed away peacefully in his sleep on May 1, 2024, at UT Medical Center due to injuries sustained from an automobile accident.
Lawrence had a big heart, never met a stranger, and took time to help anyone in need. He loved babies and was a papaw to many. Lawrence was an avid hunter. Loved his hunting dogs and chickens. It has been said that White Rocks Auction and Rouse Wholesale Tire will never be the same.
Along with his parents, Lawrence is preceded in death by his wife, Annalee Hall, brothers: Glenn, David, and James. Sisters, Ada, and Carolyn.
Left to cherish his memories are his children: Ethel Gueye (Momar) of Hermitage, PA. Margaret Durst (Bill) of Masury, OH. Glenn Hall (Dianna) of Ewing, VA. Pat Hall of Tazewell, TN. Bonita McIntyre (David) of Harlan, KY. Lawrence Edward Hall, Jr and Travis Moore (Nikki) of Jonesville, Va. Siblings, Emma Fee, and Maudie Sue Moore. Five grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews who loved them dearly. Special friends: Charlie Rouse, Ralph Seabolt and Chris Brown. Mother of his five oldest children and special friend, Ollie Hall.
A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, May 5, 2024 at Bethel Cemetery with Randy Seabolt officiating this service. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 1:50 PM.
Pallbearers: Travis Moore, Cody Nida, Jonathan Roberts, Jordi Morangello, Joe Thomas, and Ralph Seabolt.
Honorary Pallbearers: Chester Langley, Chris Brown.

Obituary Preview: Jessica Lee Snodgrass, age 76, of Rose Hill, VA sadly passed away in the evening hours of Saturday, April 20, 2024 while at the Middlesboro (KY) Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was born January 26, 1948 a daughter of the late Alex and Emma Lee Hall Miles in Jonesville VA. She was of the Methodist faith and attended Bethel United Methodist Church in Jonesville. She spent most of her working career at Lee General, Lee County Community and then Lee Regional Medical Center.
Preceded in death by her parents, she is also preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years: Randolph Snodgrass. One son: Alexander Clayton Snodgrass, Granddaughter: Kaitlin Nicole Langley. Brothers: Bill and Joe Miles, Sisters: Dorothy Seabolt (John), Beulah Rigsby (Paul) and Ruby Rigsby (Robert) and a niece: Patricia Seabolt.
Left to treasurer her loving memory include a daughter: Lori Ann Langley (Melvin) of Rose Hill, VA. Step Children: Randy Snodgrass (Joyce) of Tazewell, TN Jeff Snodgrass (Maria) of Ohio, Jerold Eaton of Oak Ridge, TN. 2 precious Grand Children that were the love of her life: Jordan and Nicholas Langley of Rose Hill, VA along with a host of step grandchildren. 3 sisters: Phoebe Rines (Frank) of Jonesville, VA, Rosalind Barnette (Cody) of Thorn Hill, TN and Flora Sutphin of Atlanta GA. 2 Sisters in law: Faye Miles and Emma Miles both of Jonesville, VA A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family members along with many friends are left to mourn her passing.
At her request her body will be cremated and no services are planned at this time.
She is no longer bound by this world, but apart of it. No longer tied to one place and one time, but free. Earth to earth, ashes to ashes and dust to dust.

He was born June 28, 1962 in St. Charles a son of the late Ray Douglas Bryson and Shirley Ann Webb. He was a Graduate of Pennington High School, a Veteran of the US Army and a retired truck driver for over 30 years.
Preceded in death by his father, he is also preceded in death by his wife: Candy Sue (Rapp) Bryson, a son: Bryan Smith, Jr, 2 brothers: JD Bryson and David Bryson, his paternal grandparents: JD and Irene Bryson and maternal grandparents: Raymond and Bonnie Webb. He is survived by his Mother: Shirley Ann Webb 2 sons: Brian Smith Sr (Angie) and Richard Smith 1 daughter: Jessica Taylor (Jeremiah) 2 Brothers: Darrell Bryson (Dawn) and Jody Bryson (Shelli May) 3 sisters: Connie Parsons, Tammy Delph (Billy) and Tina Middleton (Jason)
A host of grandchildren, whom he loved more than life itself along with several nieces, nephews and cousins and many friends.
In keeping with Donnie Ray's wishes, his body will be cremated and no formal services are planned at this time.

She was born January 18, 1940 a daughter of the late Robert Lee Hall, Sr and Thelma Ruth Stapleton Hall. She was a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Johnson, a son: James Rocky Johnson and a brother: Robert L. Hall, Jr She is survived by her grandson: William Curtis Johnson 1 sister: Alice Elizabeth Noe all of Jonesville
Several Nieces, Nephews, cousins and others also survive.
The funeral will be Friday, April 5, 2024 at 1 PM in the chapel of the Powell Valley Funeral Home with Pastor Steve Neff officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, St. Road 657, Jonesville, VA 24263. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers. The family will welcome friends Friday preceding the services beginning at 12 Noon at the funeral home.

Carrie was born on October 8, 1959 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to the late Billie Price and Otis Dameron. Carrie spent her life caring for others as a CNA loving and caring not only her family, but everyone around her. She was of the Christian faith and attended Rob Camp Baptist Church. Carries memory will live on in the hearts of everyone she touched.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband , Ralph Payne; mother and father in-law, Gracie and Rufus Payne; as well as several brother and sister in-laws, and her grandparents.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter, Kristy King; son in-law, Michael King; grandchildren, Casey and Steven King; sisters, Beth Barton and husband Steven and Mary Campbell and husband Clayton; sister in-law, Patsy Sowders and husband Carl Ray; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A celebration of life service will be held at a later date.

Evon was born on Friday, June 28th, 1946 in Rose Hill, Virginia to the late Otis Eads and Glessie Wilder Eads. She retired after over 30 years of service from the Virginia Department of Transportation. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and friend.
Evon is survived by her daughter, Kim Barnett and husband Nick; son, Shaun Bales; grandchildren, Alexis Bussell (Justin) and Gage Barnett; great grandchildren, Sawyer Bussell and Weslyn Bussell; father of her children, Kyle Bales (Linda); special friends, Brenda Mullins, Mary Taylor, and Elena Lovelace; along with several other aunts, uncles, cousins, and close friends.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Powell Valley Funeral Home (29521 Wilderness Rd, Jonesville, Virginia 24263).
A graveside service will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Campbell Cemetery (2062 Giles Hollow Rd, Rose Hill, Virginia 24281) with Pastor Steve Neff officiating. Donnie, Shannon and Caleb Campbell will provide music. Pallbearers will be Nick Barnett, Justin Bussell, Mike Grabeel, Charles Delph, Donnie Campbell, and Bruce Ellis. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:50 AM.
The family would like to express a special thank you to her cousin Pam Farr for taking Evon to her appointments during her courageous battle as well as the staff at UT Medical Center for their love and care.

Passed away on Thursday March the 14th, 2024 at Bristol Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
He was born to George and Emma Stewart on November the 20th, 1958.
Lee loved farming and his animals. He also loved visiting and spending time with the Lee Pickers and several of his favorite loafing spots.
He was a member of Russell's Chapel United Methodist Church and attended Darbyville First Baptist Church.
He was not only preceded in death by his parents but also his long time companion Ruby Williams.
He is survived by his brothers Johnny and Norman Stewart and sisters Mary Newman and Margaret Hicks all of Jonesville.
Nephews Charlie Newman and Jonathon Stewart also of Jonesville, Niece Jessica France of Fuquay-Varina, NC.
Great nephew Jaxon Newman of Jonesville and great niece Molly France of Fuquay-Varina, NC.
His best friend Rick Marcum and a host of other family and friends.
A committal service will be held at 11am on Tuesday March 19th at the Hillside Cemetery on Russell's Chapel RD in Jonesville, VA.
With Pastors Steve Neff and George Flanary officiating.
Those that will be in attendance are asked to meet at 10:50am at the cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Rene Vocke, age 60 of Jonesville, VA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 7th, 2024. She was born on Tuesday, June 4th, 1963 in Pasadena, California.
Rene is survived by her loving sons, Keith Vocke and wife Sarah, and Jeremy Vocke and Brandy. She was a devoted grandmother to Ava Vocke, Lily Vocke, Trinity Vocke, Liam Vocke, and Willow Vocke. Rene is also survived by her sisters, Amber Foster and Desiree Lambert, along with several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 38 years, Keith Vocke, her mother Shirley Ann Butcher Manley, and her niece Lindsay Phillips.
Rene dedicated her life to caring for her family as a devoted homemaker. She will be remembered for her kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family.
Per her wishes she will be cremated with no formal services scheduled at this time.

Obituary Preview: Bill Unthank, age 77, of Jonesville, VA, passed away on Saturday, February 24th, 2024. He was born on Monday, August 19th, 1946 in his hometown of Jonesville, Virginia. He grew up in northern Virginia and moved back to Lee County after he married.
Bill was preceded in death by his father, John M. Unthank, and mother, Edna Scott Unthank. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Lucretia Hollaway Unthank; his daughters, Julie Unthank and Jessica Unthank; his brother, John and wife Jackie, and their children Judith and Joshua.
Bill was a member of the Pennington Gap Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on October 26, 1963 and was a faithful, dedicated Witness for over 60 years. Bill's strong hope is to wake up in the resurrection here on earth under the reign of God's Kingdom by Jesus Christ.
Bill will be deeply missed by all who knew him and we look forward to seeing him healthy once again.
No formal services are scheduled at this time.

Royce was born on July 25, 1933 in Ben Hur, Virginia to the late Luke Mize ad Mildred Lipps Mize. He proudly served his county in the United States Navy. He loved his country. Royce was a mechanic for several years until his retirement, but he was known for being a jack of all trades as he helped his family and friends with fixing anything and everything. He loved traveling, country music, going to casinos where he enjoyed his favorite game of craps, and just sitting on the porch relaxing with Deborah. Royce was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by his brother, Jack Mize; sisters, Luelda Mize and Reba Bledsoe Mize.
Those left to cherish his memory are his devoted and loving wife of 31 years, Deborah Mize; son, Thomas Mize and wife Jean of Villa Hills, KY; daughters Karen Mize and Sharon Mize both of Dayton, OH; step son, Joseph Burgan of Frederick, MD; 2 grandchildren; 1 great grandchild; along with several nieces and nephews.
A military graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 8, 2024 at Mountain Home National Cemetery (53 Memorial Avenue, Johnson City, Tennessee 37684) with Pastor Steve Neff officiating and American Legion Hammond Post 3/265 providing military honors. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 AM.

Obituary Preview: Cecil Lee Hudson, Sr. 84, of Jonesville, VA went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at his residence in Ocoonita, Virginia.
Cecil was born on February 25, 1939, in Pineville, Kentucky to the late George Franklin Hudson and Rosslee Irene McElroy Hudson. Cecil proudly served his country in the United States Navy. After his time in the service he went on to work as a purchasing agent for Alice Chalmers until his retirement. He also retired from Boilermaker Local 263 Memphis, Tennessee. He was an avid community worker who delivered donuts in the Millington area and driving veterans to their doctor appointments in the Memphis area while always spreading the word of his savior, Jesus.
Along with his parents he is preceded in death by wife, Mary Lou Pendleton Hudson; brothers, Joseph Hudson and George Hudson; sisters, Oma Bertovich and Pat Linn.
Those left to cherish his memory are his sons, Cecil Lee Hudson, Jr. and David Franklin Hudson and his wife Barbara Ann; daughter, Irene Elizabeth "Lisa" Wills and her husband Jimmy; grandchildren, Zachariah Yancey, Nikki Yancey, Hannah Elizabeth White, and Joseph David Hudson, Justin Hudson, Jimmy Gurganus, Kelly Ann Wuerdenam, Emily Evonne Miller, Brayden Hudson, Austin Hudson, Thomas Hudson, Rhonda Ball, Joe Ball, and Jessica Wills. Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Sherman Carroll; daughter, Sherry Lynn Carroll; sisters, Trula Moore and Alice Harrell; brothers, Jerry Moore and Edward Moore.
Those left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law Terry G. Carroll and Lisa Burchett, son Alan Carroll, daughter and son-in-law Charlinda D. Shirley was born November 25, 1939 in Lee County, Virginia to Hillery and Maggie Collins and was the baby of 7 children. Throughout her life she maintained a sweet demeanor that won the hearts of all who knew her. Shirley's unwavering faith in God was evident in every aspect of her life.
Shirley is preceded in death by her father and mother, Hillery and Maggie Collins; husband, Willard Collins; one brother, Lee Collins; three sisters, Thelma Collins, Addie Hilton, and Hazel Redwine.
Surviving are her two sons, Darrell Collins of the home and Mike Collins and his wife, Hillary Collins of Jonesville; two special grandsons, Alex Collins and Kyle Collins; her sisters, Dorothy Thomas and Grace Hall and husband Charles; along with several nieces and nephews.
Shirley's sweet spirit will live on in the memories of her family. Heaven truly gained the sweetest most precious angel.

Geraldine was born on October 19, 1937 in Rose Hill to the late Chester and Bernice Minton Martin. Geraldine worked as a personal care aide for many years serving the people of Lee County. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, and friend to many.
Along with her parents she is preceded in death by her loving husband Hubert "Shorty" Clouse; granddaughter, Tiffany Hensley; siblings, Leon Martin, GT Martin, Mike Martin, and Evaline Van Huss.

James Edward "Eddie" LeMarr, 51, of Rose Hill went to be with the Lord on October 12, 2023 at the University of Kentucky Medical Center.
Eddie was born on September 22, 1972 in Middlesboro, Kentucky to the late Paul LeMarr and Sarah Carter LeMarr. He was a truck driver and traveled many miles until his illness. Eddie was a member of the Rose Hill Fire Department and Thomas Walker Rescue Squad since he was 16. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge #188. Eddie was a loving husband, father, and friend who will be greatly missed.
Along with his parents Eddie is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Chester and Marie LeMarr; Maternal grandparents, Robert (Dick) and Ethel Carter.
