Martha Jane Hudson - November 13, 1925 - April 01, 2022

Obituary Preview: Martha Jane Holley Hudson died peacefully in her sleep in Paris Texas on April 1, 2022 at the age of 96.
Martha is survived by her son Bruce A. Hudson and his wife Kenny Kaye of Campbell Texas and their son/her grandson Lane Carter Hudson of College Station; her daughter Suzanne Hudson-Smith of Sarasota Florida. She is preceded in death by her husband Leon Marcus Hudson and her son Michael Duane Hudson.
Martha was born on November 13, 1925 in Athens, Louisiana to Oliver Vance Holley and Mamie Roberts Holley. Martha worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Paris and Greenville Texas and then for AT&T in Dallas before retiring in 1984.
Martha was a member of Westview United Methodist Church in Greenville.
To share condolences a gathering at graveside has been scheduled for Thursday, April 7 at 10am at Memoryland Memorial Park. The family would like to thank Waterford Hospice LLC in Paris Texas for their care during this last stage of her life.

Johnnie Hiram Lyon - July 23, 1929 - March 27, 2022

Obituary Preview: Johnnie Lyon was born on a small farm in North Hunt County on July 23, 1929. His parents were J.B. "Buck" Lyon and Ora Lee Murray Lyon. He went to Prairie Hill, a two room school, through the seventh grade. After that, he attended school in Leonard and graduated from Leonard High School. He married Bethalyne Lyday on August 26, 1950. They had two sons, Ronald Wayne and Gary Keith Lyon.
Johnnie was drafted and served two years active duty in the United States Marine Corps from 1952 through 1954 during the Korean War and was in the Marine Corps Reserve for seven years. After his active duty service was over, he and his wife moved to Celeste. He bought out an auto repair shop which he ran for eighteen years.
Johnnie and Bethalyne were members of the Celeste Methodist Church. He served as Sunday School Superintendent for a period of time. He served on the City Council of the City of Celeste, the Celeste School Board and the Celeste Volunteer Fire Department. He was elected County Commissioner for Precinct 1 Hunt County in 1972 and took office on January 1, 1973. He served as County Commissioner for twenty four years. He served as both Commissioner and Acting County Judge for one year in 1994. When he retired on December 31, 1996, he had served on the Commissioner's Court longer than anyone in the history of Hunt County. Johnnie loved hunting and fishing and all kinds of sports. He coached Little League baseball for seven years. He loved his family and all of his friends. He will be missed by all.
Johnnie was preceded in death by his wife of 68 years, his parents and all but one of his siblings. He is survived by sons, Ronnie Lyon and wife, Paula, Gary Lyon and wife, Ginger; grandchildren, Kristi Ross and husband, Jon, Karen Goodwin and husband, Tre, Kevin Lyon, Jared Lyon and wife, Grace, Jeremy Lyon and wife, Kirstin; great-grandchildren, Emmalyn Ross, Jonah Ross, Everly Ross, Henley Goodwin, Braylee Goodwin, Mavery Goodwin; brother, Paul Lyon; brother in laws, Bobby Lyday and wife, Evaughn, Richard Lyday and wife, Beverly, Larry Lyday and wife, Ruth; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Bobbie was born on April 5, 1940 in Pasadena, TX to Roy C. and Viola Corley. She married Frank F. Young, her high school sweetheart in December of 1956.
Bobbie was accomplished at researching genealogies and histories of historic individuals as well her family’s. She was a generous/witty/dedicated individual who loved the Lord and who was passionate about studying the word of God. She was an active and dedicated member of the Church.
A Memorial Service is scheduled for 10;00 am 8 April 2022 at Peters Funeral Home, with a reception to follow at 2288 C.R. 658, Farmersville, TX. 75442. Pastor David Austin will officiate the ceremony. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Bobbie’s life. Lotus and Vine Florist will be preparing any floral arrangements for the service but you are welcome to send flowers to her home in Farmersville, TX.

Ramona had a love for people and helping them. She sacrificed her whole life for her family. She had a deep love for the Lord, and she stood on the word to the end.

Slater III on June 30, 1951 in Salt Lake City Utah where he was stationed with the United States Air Force.  She received her nursing license in 1992 and worked as a Registered Nurse at Citizens General Hospital, now Hunt Regional Medical Center.
She is survived by her daughter, Eloise “Jeannie” Nordland, her sister-in-law, Carolyn Whitehill & husband Ben Wisconsin and her brother-in-law, Charles C. Slater wife Tracey California as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Vivan Jones, age 87, of Celeste, Texas, passed away on Feb 20, 2022.  She is now with the loves of her life: husband of 44 years, Jim, her daughter Rhonda, and both of her parents. Vivian was born in Wichita Falls, Texas.  She was the oldest child of John and Alta Mitchel.  She had 6 sisters and 2 brothers. Vivian grew up during hard times in the 1940's.  Her family would just pick up and move around a lot, and she grew up taking care of her brothers and sisters. Vivian met her future husband Jim on a walk to the store.  He and his friend were in a car, and offered her and her friend a ride home.  They went on a blind date, and their love only grew from there!  Together they had four children:  Jamie, Ronnie, Joe, and Rhonda. Vivian was a kind and caring person.  She is known best for taking care of everyone.  She helped raise nieces and nephews along with her own children.  She loved home cooking and quilting.   She has worn her titles well: wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.  Family was her life. Vivian is survived by her sons; Jamie and his wife Tammy, of Celeste; Ronnie and wife Gayla of Celeste; and Joe and wife Cindy of Campbell.  She had 5 grandchildren: Sheila, Brandy, Alicia, Falyn and Jeremy as well as 5 step-grandchildren: Rana, Zach, Brandon, Kayla, and Angie.  Her great grandchildren include Kenzi, Kendell, Mason, Silas, Kali, Rye, Josh, Blaine, Bryce, Presley and Jaisley, as well as step great-grandchildren including Payton, Zoe, Erin, Zaiden, Ethan, Caden, Madison, Colby, and Noah.  She had one great-great-granddaughter, Kaisley, who brought a smile to Vivian every time she came to visit. We would like to thank Robert, Casey, and Sam of our hospice team from Kindred Hospice in Greenville, TX.  They made a difficult time easier for Vivian and our family.

Tony lived his life in Texas, Arkansas & Oklahoma before he moved back to Texas to live out his last 37 years. Tony was proceeded in death by his father Thomas “Poppy” Pribble, Mother Maggie Pribble Womack, 11 brothers, 3 sisters and 1 daughter Diane Brooks. He was survived by his wife of 67 years Pauline, Two sons Tony Alan & wife Kaye, Mike & wife Raley, Daughter Paula Blake and her husband Greg, 5 grandsons, 4 granddaughters , 11 great grandchildren and brother Loyd & wife Sharon Pribble, and numerous Brother & Sister in laws, nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Carnegie High in 1949 He then took a Radio repair school correspondence course. At 19 he opened a radio repair shop in Locust Grove Oklahoma. Then he went to work for Radio Inc. in Tulsa Oklahoma in the warehouse. He then went to work at Pure Oil Company in Nowata, Oklahoma and worked in the office as a clerk for 4 years.
In 1954 he took a TV repair course and opened an Admiral TV sales & repair shop with his Brother in law Howard. He did this part time part time while still working for Pure Oil Co. In 1958 he and his wife Pauline moved to Oklahoma City and he took a job as a TV repairman for Sears & Roebuck for 5 years. Tony and his wife became Ham Radio operators. Tony was also a Master Ham Radio operator. Tony then opened his own TV repair shop and his home and did that with Pauline until he retired in 1971.
Tony & Pauline along with their children had numerous foster children in their home. Over the years they helped raise and loved 33 foster children and lived 1 year at Tipton Children’s Home as house parents.
In 1964 Tony taught his first bible class at South Woodward Church of Christ in Oklahoma City. Over the years he taught numerous bible classes up until the last class he taught at Union Valley Church of Christ in 2014. Tony was a deacon at Rockwall Church of Christ and headed up the visitation ministry there. He was an Elder at the Blanchard Church of Christ in Oklahoma, at the Lakeside Church of Christ in Rockwall Tx, and at the Union Valley Church of Christ.
Tony has been instrumental in establishing & re-establishing several churches. He helped re-establish the Blanchard Church of Christ. He taught classes, lead V.B.S., drove the JOY bus, helped build a new wing on the building and was and Elder there. He helped establish the Lakeside Church of Christ in Rockwall, Tx in 1988. He was an Elder there, taught numerous classes, and set up many visitation teams and home Bible Studies. He helped re-establish the Royse City Church of Christ and taught numerous classes there and built a new wing on their building.
In 1997 Tony & Pauline along with his son in law Greg & daughter Paula and Family, his son Tony Alan & wife Kaye and their son, Sheila Busby with her niece and her boyfriend started the first service of the Union Valley Church of Christ in their apartment building where their home is now. After outgrowing that building and purchasing the land the church is on now, Tony lead the building of the first building here which is now the Fellowship Hall. In 2005 he helped in the building of the new Auditorium and classrooms. Tony has taught classes, held life groups in his Home, was an Elder for many years, was a vessel of Bible Knowledge and a great encourager for many souls.
Tony was a Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, teacher, friend, but mostly, Tony was a God fearing, soul winning, life long Christian.

Beryle Cleston Lovelace - July 27, 1928 - February 05, 2022

Obituary Preview: Universally loved for his general can-do, warm heart, and genial spirit, Beryle Cleston Lovelace passed to his beloved Lord early February 5, 2022 at age 93.  Beryle was born in Levelland, Texas, July 27, 1928, to Rev. Weaver Erasmus Lovelace and Marie Taylor Lovelace. He called Morton, Tx., his home town and graduated from Morton High School in 1945.  He was called to God's work early in life, working revival meetings with his Dad all over West Texas and eastern New Mexico. Some of his first work was assistant pastor and music director at First Baptist Church Tucumcari, N.M., 1947-48, and music and education director for First Baptist Church, Dublin, Tx., 1949-51.  He earned a B.A. at Howard Payne College (now University) in Brownwood, Tx., in 1951. He met the love of his life Elouise Roberts there, and they married June 12, 1952.  Beryle was music and education director for Park Heights Baptist Church, San Angelo, Tx., 1951-53. In 1953 he and Elouise moved to Okmulgee, Ok., where he served as music director at First Baptist Church, and had their first child, Byron Kent, while there.  In 1954 they moved to Corsicana, Tx., where Beryle was music director for First Baptist Church 1954-57, and in 1955 were blessed with their second child, Laura Beth.  Beryle served as minister of music and education at First Baptist Church Brownfield, Tx, 1957-59.  Beryle served Bethany Baptist Church in Dallas, Tx., while attending the Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Tx., where he earned a Masters in Religious Education in 1962. He served as minister of music and education at First Baptist Church Littlefield, Tx., 1962-65. While in Littlefield Beryle and Elouise were able to visit Japan, and subsequently felt called to the mission field. In 1965 they were employed as missionary associates by the Southern Baptist Convention's Foreign Mission Board (now International Mission Board) to serve in Japan. The first assignment was to Kanto Plains Baptist Church, an English speaking church in Tokyo, formed by US Air Force servicemen during the VietNam War build-up at nearby Yokota AFB. The membership had asked the FMB for someone to help with music and education ministries. Beryle and Elouise served there from 1965 until 1972. In 1972 Beryle served as interim pastor, and then from 1973-76 as religious education and church music consultant for churches in the Tokyo area, and assistant to the business manager of the Japan Baptist Mission, Tokyo, Japan.  In 1976 Beryle began an extended stint as the Japan Baptist Mission Business Manager in downtown Tokyo. Beryle and Elouise moved to Okinawa for their last few years of service before retirement, and served as ministers of music and discipleship at Koza Baptist Church, Okinawa, Japan. They retired  from the mission field Sept. l, 1993. Once stateside, Beryle and Elouise enjoyed being near family and friends in north Texas. They continued the many friendships made with other missionaries and military families they knew from living and traveling in the Far East. Beryle and Elouise served part-time at Creekside Baptist Church in Richardson, Tx., 1996-2012. Beryle was very active from 1995 to 2019, travelling and singing with the The Singing Men of Texas, a men's choir made up of music ministers from Baptist churches all over Texas. Along with singing, Beryle's hobbies included fixing things (such as his many antique clocks) and watching football, and they both loved JAG and NCIS on TV.  In 2020 Beryle and Elouise sold their house and moved into assisted living because of their failing health. Beryle was preceded in death by his parents, and his younger brother Hoyt and his wife Lin. Beryle is survived by his wife of 70 years, Elouise, their son Byron and his wife Gail, grandson Jordan with wife Louisa and great grandchildren Otto and Billie Lou, and Jordan's mother Beverly Miller.
