Earl Clifford Levengood Jr. - September 22, 1934 - March 30, 2022

Departed: 03/30/2022 (Dryden)
Obituary Preview: Earl C. Levengood, Jr. passed away at home on March 30, 2022. Earl was born to Helen (Lutz) and Earl C. Levengood, Sr. on September 22, 1934, in Pottstown, PA. While growing up in Pottstown, he enjoyed participating in sports and he fondly recalled the time of his high school baseball team’s induction into the Baseball Hall of Fame for a superior winning streak. After graduating from Bloomsburg and Alfred Universities, he began his career teaching high school, before moving on to teach at the community college level. After time at Corning Community and Cobleskill A&T, he was approached by Hugh Bahar, whom he’d met earlier while at Corning. Tompkins Cortland Community College’s newly appointed first president Bahar asked Earl to join him in the start-up of TC3. Thus, he was in on the planning and complete set-up of the new college. Even the interior design was based off Earl’s concept of an “educational shopping mall.” Earl loved teaching, and there is likely no one who loved that college more! Earl served in the US Army and was a 50+year member of the VFW. As his health declined, he began saluting every American flag he passed. He’d not say a word, just salute. He was a charter member of the Ithaca-Cortland Chapter of the National Association of Accountants and served a time as their president. He also served as president of the Dryden Kiwanis, and for a number of years ran their Little League Baseball program. He coached the Dryden Little League Baseball team and Babe Ruth Baseball, as well. He never forgot those experiences or those kids he coached! Nor did they forget him!
Earl is survived by wife Donna; son, Gregory (Lori) Levengood and daughter, Lori Levengood; stepchildren, Wendy (Dan) Huff and Heather Peterson; grandchildren, Kaylie Hafele (Dakota), Jason (Katie) Levengood, Alyssa Levengood, and Kassidy Seary; step-grandchildren, Matthew (Elena), Justin, and Adam Huff; step-great-grandchildren, Madison and Mason Huff; and a great-grandchild is expected this fall.
Calling hours are scheduled for 2-4 pm Sunday, April 3, 2022, at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY. Service will follow immediately after at 4 pm. A Celebration of his life will follow after the service at the Dryden Veteran’s Memorial Home, 2272 Dryden Rd. (Route 13) Dryden, NY. Contributions honoring Earl may be directed to Hospicare and Palliative Care, 172 E. King Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850 or just reach out with a smile or a helping hand to someone you see in need!

Travis Ewald Bleck - September 22, 1981 - March 11, 2022

Departed: 03/11/2022 (Dryden)
Obituary Preview: Travis Ewald Bleck, son of Ewald (Rick) Frederick Bleck and Sharon Gutchess Bleck, died tragically on March 11, 2022, at his home on Montgomery Street, from an undiagnosed aneurysm.
Travis was loved from the moment he was born 40 years ago..  He weighed 10.4 pounds and the pediatric nurses fell in love with him instantly.  He continued to bring much love and laughter to his friends and family with his warm smile and big bear hugs.
He loved to ride his motorcycle, hunt with the Bleck boys and repair small engines.  He completed a two-year diesel mechanic program in Florida and enjoyed working on Ford diesels.  He was a talented mechanic who held jobs as a service writer, auto repair assistant manager, County fleet maintenance mechanic and automotive parts salesman.  He was often seen working on vehicles at his home.  He was proud of his automotive knowledge and was a certified NYS Department of Motor Vehicle inspector.
Travis often had music on full blast as he worked on vehicles, chainsaws and lawn equipment.  He liked the challenge of difficult mechanical diagnosis’ and prided himself when he “solved the puzzle”.  Trips to an auto salvage yard or a pull-a-part business were bonding times with his father and they often came home with “great finds”.
Travis always looked forward to the yearly Memorial Day picnics hosted by his parents.  He loved his family and traveled to Cancun and Venezuela, in addition to his job training in Florida.
Travis adored his pets, Shiner, Sydney and Lily and he was an exceptionally loving “parent” to them.  Trips to the State land, ponds, automobile rides or just relaxing in front of the fireplace brought much happiness to all.
His love for music led him to guitar lessons.  He often serenaded his mom with a new song and he frequently strummed along with internet videos.  He hung out with his friends and shared his musical and vocal talents at their jam sessions.
Losing Travis so unexpectedly has broken the hearts of his older sister, Alicia, his grandmother Clara Bleck, and his countless friends and family members.  We know he didn’t want to leave us. Please give more hugs and tell people you love them.  Death causes so much despair but we will forever cherish those last words from Travis, “I love you!”
Family and friends are invited to call from 2-4 pm on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 W. Main St., Dryden, NY a service will follow at 4 pm.

Kenneth Cheng Chuang Lin - June 02, 1937 - March 09, 2022

Departed: 03/09/2022 (Dryden)
Obituary Preview: Kenneth Cheng Chuang Lin, 84, passed away in his sleep on Wednesday, March 09, 2022 in his home of 42 years on Triphammer Rd, in Ithaca, NY. He was surrounded by his loving daughters in his final months as he declined from late stage dementia.
Born to the late Jung Ching and Chang Ping Lin, Kenneth was the eldest of nine children, including one brother and seven sisters in their home of Taichung, Taiwan. He received his Bachelors in Chemical Engineering from Tunghai University, after which he immigrated to the USA to complete a Masters program in Chemical Engineering at North Carolina State University in Raleigh in 1968. Kenneth then moved to Fort Lee, NJ to work at Columbia University in NYC where he met his future wife, Amy Huei-Mei Lin. After visiting Ithaca, NY, they fell in love with the region and relocated in the late 1970s, eventually establishing their home on North Triphammer Rd. Kenneth helped his parents, and five of his sisters emigrate from Taiwan to Ithaca, living together in one house before his sisters moved out to start their own families. He worked as a laboratory technician at Cornell University, but found greater success with a food business that he started with his father, Jung Ching Foods, named after the patriarch. The business catered Chinese food to cafeterias at Cornell University and was the first food vendor at the Ithaca Farmers Market starting in 1980. For two and a half decades, they sold delicious, pan-Asian food ranging from their locally famous egg rolls, dumplings, steam buns, to noodle salads; some Cornell students and market-goers still fondly remember these foods.
In 1982, the family welcomed their first daughter Anne Lin, although, sadly, his parents would pass a short time after. Ever the entrepreneur, in 1987, Kenneth bought the Glen Way Motel in Watkins Glen, NY, a block away from the Watkins Glen National Park, welcoming international guests visiting the park, local wineries, and events at the racetrack. In 1991, the family welcomed the birth of his second daughter, Susan Lin, who was a joyful surprise. During his time managing the motel while his wife ran the food business, Kenneth was involved with the local Writers Group and the Chambers of Commerce. He enjoyed daily walks to the Watkins Glen State Park, and was an avid photographer, poet, and gardener. He provided housing to many people referred by the Department of Social Services, sometimes offering employment, which reflected his moral duty to be compassionate to those in need. After the death of his wife in 2011, his daughter, Anne, helped him with the sale of his businesses and he was able to retire. Afterwards, he lived a comfortable life in his home with the help of his daughter, Susan, and several dedicated care aides. He leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion to his family, and kindness to everyone he met. He is greatly loved by his remaining family and will be dearly missed.
Kenneth is predeceased by his parents, Jung Ching and Chang Ping Lin, and his sisters, Scotty Britton and Li-May Chiu; survived by his daughters Annie Lin and Susan Lin; in the US, he is survived by his sisters Victoria Chen of Carrollton, TX, Li-Feng Lin of North Wales, PA, and Esther Lin of Ithaca, NY; his nephew, Dennis Britton; in Taiwan, he is survived by his brother Cheng Nan; sisters Li Ming Chang and Li Deng Chen, and several nieces, and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 26th, 2022 at Asbury Church in Lansing, NY. Calling hours begin at 11:00 am, funeral services start at 12:00 pm; reception to follow. The live stream and recording of the event will be hosted on the Asbury Church website: https://live.asburyag.com/. Flowers and monetary donations to the church may be sent to Asbury Church, 2978 N Triphammer Rd, Lansing, NY 14882 or to his daughters at 2758 N Triphammer Rd, Lansing, NY 14850. See up-to-date information at: https://sites.google.com/view/kenneth-lin-memorial/
The family would like to thank all those whose lives were touched by Kenneth Lin, as he had a kind heart, compassion for his fellow man, and a curious intellect.
