Deborah Davis - January 09, 1958 - May 16, 2024

Departed: 05/16/2024 (Kenai)
Obituary Preview: Deborah Faye Davis (Wheat) age 66 died May 15, 2024, in Soldotna, AK with her family by her side.
She was born in Phoenix, AZ to George and Lottie Wheat with three older sisters: Toni (Lister), Sheryl (Mullins), and Barbara (Davis). The family traveled to Oregon for a time before settling in Alaska on the Kenai Peninsula in the late 1960’s.
Although her early life was challenging, she loved her family fiercely. She worked hard at school and was an exemplary student. She graduated from Kenai High School in 1976 and married her sweetheart Charles E. Davis one month later.
Debbie made friends wherever she went and even earned the title of Miss Congeniality at the Alaska Junior Miss Pageant. It would not be surprising to hear someone say she was one of the nicest people they had ever met. She was kind, trusting, and generous to a fault. She opened her home to countless nieces and nephews through the years – always giving love and encouragement. As a sister, mom, grandma, aunt, or even cheerleading coach, she was always someone you could talk to and find support.
If you asked her, she was most proud of her life as a wife to Charles E. Davis, mother to Tonja (Updike) and Tammy (Crowder), and grandmother (Nana) to three: Cy, Garrett, and Emma. Including two bonus grandchildren through marriage: Austin and Brandon Crowder.
The results of her hard work and love are abundantly clear when you view how close knit and committed her family is to the family she built.
Spending time together, traveling together and making every event a special family affair is a hallmark of her legacy.
She is famous in her family for the ‘red pen’ of correction! If you asked her to proofread something you wrote you had better be prepared to see a lot of red ink! No doubt she is marking this obituary in red as she sits in Heaven.
Debbie was not just a stay-at-home mom and wife through the years. She held her own as the accountant for Davis Concrete in Anchorage for many years, winning accolades, and respect from the business community as well as company employees, many she considered friends.
Debbie is proceeded in death by her parents George Wheat and Lotti Burns, sisters Toni Lister and Sheryl Mullins, in-laws Bill and Sonoko Davis.
She is survived by her loving family: husband Chuck, daughters Tonja and Tammy, sons-in-law Josh and Keith, grandchildren Cy, Garrett, Emma, Brandon, Austin, sister Barbara Davis (Rusty), and many more nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws whom she adored.
Debbie loved to drink a wonderful glass (or few) of wine. We hope you can raise a glass in her honor! A life well lived, with an abundance of family, friendship, and love all around her. Cheers! "Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal." From a headstone in Ireland
Services will be held at 5pm, Friday May 24, 2024, Peninsula Memorial Chapel. The family invites you to a gathering following the service at 6:30pm at Chuck & Debbie’s River Home 44190 Oehler Rd., Soldotna, AK.

John R Hamilton - June 06, 1959 - March 17, 2024

Departed: 03/17/2024 (Kenai)
Obituary Preview: Heaven Bound: John R. Hamilton - A Life Well Lived
With hearts full of love and gratitude, we praise God for the time we had with John Richard Hamilton and announce his passing on Sunday, March 17, 2024, at 11:11am. He walked faithfully into the arms of God at the age of 64 after a long-standing battle with pancreatic cancer. John's love for Jesus was inspiring and his life a testament to faith, hope, and generosity. He will be deeply missed, and his legacy will live on.
Born on June 6, 1959, to Dick and Patti Hamilton in Matador, TX, he entered the world with a spirit that radiated authenticity and spunk, earning the nickname of “Hambone” in high school. He arrived in Alaska at the age of 7 after his family hauled a mobile home up the Alaskan Highway from Texas--popping 48 tires along the way. Whenever asked to share on his formative years John would simply respond, “adventure”.
His career began in Nikiski with many years of commercial fishing on the family site with Texas cousins and siblings David Hamilton and Suzan Rybacki. Later he transitioned into welding, automotive work, safety compliance, and volunteering. His preferred activities were bragging about his daughters, visiting Alaska beaches, enjoying dark roast coffee, gold mining, camping, bow hunting, backroad drives, and sharing the love and power of God to all that would (or would not) listen.
John's greatest joy was his family. His legacy lives on with Carol Hamilton, his loving spouse of 32 years, with whom he built a foundation of faith and love. He was a devoted parent to daughters Esther Page and Julianna Hamilton, instilling in them the values of faith, love, consistency, adventure, radical acceptance, and deep connection to their self-worth.
All are welcome to attend John Hamilton’s in-person memorial service and viewing at Peninsula Memorial Chapel and graveside service at Kenai Municipal Cemetery at 11:00am on Friday, March 22, 2024. A virtual celebration of life will be held on his 65th birthday, June 6, 2024, at 4pm AKST/7pm CST. All are welcome to participate. Details will be shared via family-member Facebooks.
He is preceded in death by mother, Patti Hamilton, and is survived by wife, Carol Hamilton, daughters, Julianna Hamilton and Esther Page, siblings Dave Hamilton and Suzan Rybacki, and Father Dick Hamilton.
John was a catalyst and witness to the transformation of many souls. While his journey on Earth may be complete, his spirit of love and faith continues to inspire all who knew him. May his memory be a blessing.

Departed: 03/04/2024 (Kenai)
Obituary Preview: Don Doan, 71, passed peacefully on March 4, 2024, at South Peninsula Hospital.
After a battle with cancer, he spent his last days surrounded by the people he loved.
Don was born March 8, 1952, in Seattle Washington to Joseph and Madeline Doan.
Moving to Alaska in 1970, he attended university at UAA Fairbank where he was an accomplished swimmer, winning many competitions. Don’s home was a Couch Surfing home before that was a thing.
Moving to Homer, he worked for Global as a Diving and Salvage Vessel Captain which he loved with a passion.
Don loved the sea, reading and tinkering in his garage, and especially prided himself in his beautiful, manicured lawn.
On top of being a father and devoted husband, Don was a lifelong animal lover.
Don's professional career with Global Diving & Salvage will have a lasting effect on the men and women he worked with for over two decades. His knowledge of Alaska’s challenging environment, his ability to coordinate safety and operations, and his leadership helped serve Alaska and led to the successful completion of some of Global's most challenging projects in Alaska. He was most valued, however, for his mentorship of the young men and women he worked with for over 20 years. Don's heart shone brightest when he was educating the men on his crew, who respected him as far more than their captain, but as a leader and as family. And it is "Dons' Boys" who will miss his wisdom, his wit, and his ability to turn a vessel into a home the most.
Don is preceded in death by his mother, Madeline Doan; father, Joseph Doan; brother, Martin Doan; and daughter, Trista Doan.
He is survived by his joy in life, his wife, Liz Doan of Homer, Ak.; his son(s), Travis (Cortnie) Doan of Fairbanks, Ak., Jordan (Henry Dioh) Doan of Marietta, Ga., and Jonathan (Maggie Wallace) Doan of Palmer, Ak.; daughter, Rachel Doan of Homer, Ak.; granddaughter, Ryann Doan of Fairbanks, Ak.; bonus children, Kiana McLay, Shawna Sheldon, Crystal Sheldon, John Sheldon; many cousins and too many bonus children to mention.
