Obituary Preview: Alton Henry Biggers, 82, of Pasadena, Texas slipped out of his earthly body to meet his precious Lord and Savior on February 13, 2021. Daddy became a Christian at age 9, and his love for the Lord grew each day and was evident to those who knew him or met him.
Daddy is survived by his wife Glenda of over 60 years; his daughters Sandy Biggers and Terri Biggers Payne; son-in-law David Payne, and two grandsons, John Henry Payne and wife Jessica (of Houston) and Joseph Payne all of Pasadena, Texas; brother Kenneth Biggers and sister–in-law Brenda Biggers of Channelview, Texas. He also leaves behind several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends and numerous acquaintances---as he was the quintessential social butterfly and never met a stranger.
Daddy was born in Pasadena and raised in Channelview, Texas. He joined the Texas National Guard after high school and attended Lee College until he was called to active duty in 1961 and then honorably discharged as a Sergeant E-5. He worked as an insurance salesman, a pipefitter, and eventually worked his way to becoming an engineer. Mom and daddy knew each other from childhood---attending the same schools and the same church. After dating for seven years, mom had to give daddy a little push and they were finally engaged and soon married on August 19, 1960. Mom and daddy were best friends---sharing all the good and bad throughout their 60+ years together. They were a good team and gave us a strong foundation of faith, love, and laughter.
Daddy was known for all the nicknames he had for people---his way of expressing love. He always had a quip or colloquialism that would bring a smile. He loved looking out the front door at home and keeping an eye on all the activities around him, and as often as he could, he would walk the neighborhood to visit with everyone. Daddy was reserved, strong, generous, very loving, and tender-hearted. His dry sense of humor will be so greatly missed.
