John "Jack" Julius Muldoon - January 26, 1943 - March 24, 2023

Departed: 03/24/2023 (Parker)
Obituary Preview: John (Jack) Muldoon, 80, passed away Friday, March 24, 2023 in Denver, CO after a long and hard fought battle with Multiple Myeloma.  He remained the life of the party until the very end, bringing much joy and laughter to his friends, family and many healthcare providers over the last few weeks (and years).
Jack is survived by his sons, John E. and Brian J.; his brothers, Robert, Barry, and Michael, and beloved grandchildren, Brandon, Cassie, Jack H., Hannah, and McKenna, as well as his Godson, Richard Harris  He was eagerly awaiting the birth of his first great grandchild when he passed.  He was predeceased by his son, Robbie, in 1976 and his wife Maryanne in 2018.
Jack met the love of his life, his late wife, Maryanne, in high school and often credited her with helping him graduate (having seen his report cards we all agree wholeheartedly). She went on to help him navigate life for nearly the next sixty years. She was his rock and support, and many friends and family members remember the multitude of parties and gatherings at their home.  The tables turned in 2018 when she became too sick to take care of herself.  Jack stepped up and showed the strength of his love, taking care of her tirelessly in those last months, despite his own cancer.
Jack had a long career as an airplane mechanic, beginning with New York Airways and ending 50 years later with an Inspector position with the FAA in Denver, CO where he was awarded with accommodations recognizing his security work during the 2002 Utah Olympics and The Charles Taylor Master Mechanic Award.
In between the beginning and end of his career, he spent over two decades working as the Director of Maintenance for Windstar Aviation, a jet charter service owned by John Denver which served as John’s primary tour jet and a private jet charter service. John Denver moved Jack and his family to Denver from Central Islip, NY in 1977 to help run the company.  The stories from those years are many and there just is not enough room here to give them credit, but suffice it to say that that many a good time was had by all while working hard in a demanding world with some amazing professionals.
Jack “never met a stranger” and had a multitude of amazing life long friends from Long Island to Colorado.  The list is just too long, but, given his love….and you are reading this, you know who you are and you know that he loved you very much.
In his last years, besides visiting with friends and family, he loved getting on his scooter, and taking the train to watch the Rockies games at McGregor’s Square, where he got to know everyone, from the bartenders to the cleaning staff.  He made friends there - good friends who took him out to dinner and even at their house.  Other friends often took him to the doctor, others visited with him and even adopted his dog JoJo, when Jack was unable to care for him.
And in these later years, Jack also made friends on trips out East to visit family, often holding court at his son’s Inn in Maryland,  The staff there adored him and guests loved him. He also made friends at his new apartment building in Denver.  He made friends with his doctors, his PT and OT helpers, and even more friends at his recent blood transfusions and trips to the ER.  He may be the only man in history who asked the day that he died when his next chemo was because he missed everyone there.
Jack Muldoon loved his friends and family deeply and unconditionally.  He made everyone feel like they were his favorite person in the whole world.  He was never a rich man, but he would give you the shirt off his back to help any family or friends in need.  Of course, he would likely buy a similar shirt at Goodwill the next day, but that was Jack. Despite the death of his son, his wife, and his battle with cancer, he never stopped loving and living life up to the very end.  In honor of his love of life, the family will be holding a Celebration of Life on Sunday, April 16, 2023 at Overture Central Park, 8133 E 29th Place, Denver, CO 80238 from 11 am - 1 pm, to be followed by a very optional and very casual gathering at McGregor Square at 2 pm to watch the Rockies game on the big screen (Jack’s favorite place to watch the game).  Please RSVP at this link: https://www.vandiverinn.com/tickets
The family is also hoping to create an “East Coast Family” Celebration for Jack later this summer. Donations can be made in his name to the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, www.themmrf.org

Sharon Louise Rezek - July 20, 1955 - March 22, 2023

Departed: 03/22/2023 (Parker)
Obituary Preview: Sharon Louise (Cailing) Rezek was born July 20th, 1955, in Denver, Colorado. Sharon has always loved dogs. The first pet she had was a German Shephard named Buttons. She would play with Button every day. They would play on the swing set. She taught Buttons how to slide down the slide and how to sit in the swing. They would make mud pies together when not playing on the swing set.
When Sharon was a teenager, her grandfather Ben bought her a red and white 55 Ford. She loved that car. After she obtained her license, she would take her best friend Geraldine cruising downtown, just like in the movie American Graffiti. Her favorite hang-out as a teenager was a drive-in called the Scotchman. Home of the Horrible burger and Hot Cookie. She would go cruising every night with her best friend.
When Sharon was in her twenties, Sharon bought a car that won World of Wheels in which her friend painted a Kaleidoscope on a Corvette. That was another car she loved. She married and had a daughter named Michelle. She loved being a mom and taking her daughter to different places. Some places they would go are the Denver Zoo and Westminster Mall. At the Westminster Mall, in the center would be hot air balloons floating up and down.
When Sharon was in her thirties, she bought two Akita’s. Sumo and Miko. She loved Sumo and Miko very much. She used to spend hours brushing their fur and taking them for a walk about the neighborhood. During this time, the first time, she took an airplane and went to San Diego, CA, to meet a friend. She loved to go to San Diego. She also traveled to Eureka, CA, to meet another friend. She didn’t like Eureka that much. She still preferred San Diego. She loved the ocean and the tropical flowers. She loved taking the two-hour harbor cruise around San Diego Bay.
Sharon enjoyed attending her daughter’s musical performances when she was in her forties. Her daughter was in a band, orchestra, and choir. Also, in her forties, she met the love of her life, Brian. She went to Minnesota to meet him for the first time and fell in love with him. Evelyn, her mom, her daughter, and Sharon packed everything up and moved to Minnesota so she could marry him. They married on October 20, 1998, in an intimate ceremony in the house. They spent every day together. They both loved watching Big Brother, Survivor, and Gold Rush together.
Sharon became very fond of conversion vans when she was in her fifties. She bought a conversion van with tan and cream faded paint, which she loved. They would take that van to enjoy bird-watching with Brian. They would go to Cherry Creek State Park and look for animals of all kinds, deer, beavers, hawks, and eagles. Sharon also loved going to Rocky Mountain National Park to look for animals and to see the wildflowers. She also loved staying in a cabin along Fall River in Estes Park.
Sharon still had a love for dogs. One day while watching the news, she found a dog re-named Lucky at the Denver Dumb Friends League. When Brian got home from work, they raced down there to see if they could adopt Lucky. They spent some time getting to know lucky, and they adopted him. Sharon named Lucky Teddy. Sharon loved that dog till the end of time. They would spend countless hours together. Sharon thought that maybe Teddy would like a buddy, so Brian and Sharon bought a poodle puppy and named him Cola. She loved Cola very much.
Sharon, in her sixties, loved to watch true crime dramas to figure out who had done it. She also loved online shopping. She was very excited when In N Out came to Colorado. That was her favorite place to eat in California.
Sharon had a great sense of humor and always tried to make everyone smile or laugh. She always found it a challenge to get doctors or nurses to laugh. She had a generous heart and a kind soul. She always tried to do whatever she could to help people and animals in need. She loved her family with everything she had. She will be missed by all.

Mary Jane Nichols - March 17, 1961 - March 12, 2023

Departed: 03/12/2023 (Parker)
Obituary Preview: “You get to live everyday…I am enjoying life in the moment. I appreciate that this is what life should be—an appreciation of what we experience in real time” Mary Nichols
Sunday, March 12, 2023, just 5 days before her 62nd birthday, Mary Jane Nichols (formerly Orr) passed peacefully at Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton, Colorado. She was surrounded by her family and left with the final words, “I love you all so much”.
Mary was born in Denver, Colorado March 17, 1961. She was adopted in May of 1961 when she met her parents. Her younger brother, Tom Orr, later completed their family. She is preceded in death by her parents, Margaret & Thomas Orr.
She graduated from Aurora Central High School. She later earned her Bachelor of Arts in Law and Society from The Women’s College of The University of Denver in June 2009. She graduated Magna Cum Laude and as a member of the Lambda Pi Eta Honors Society of the National Communication Association.
Mary met Jim Nichols working at Circle in the Square in 1982. After dating for two and a half years, they were married on September 14, 1985 at Rockland Community Church. As they built their life together, they had three children, Rachel (Jon), Michael (Maria), & Brian (Zoe).  During her long cancer journey Mary was able to witness each of her children’s graduations, weddings and the birth of three grandchildren. She was a cherished “Aba” (Abuelita) to Calvin and Jocelyn Houk, and Murphy Nichols. “I have had a sense of urgency about doing something, anything. Make a difference.” - Mary Nichols
Mary had a true servant leader’s heart born of her strong faith. She fully committed to everything she did. From being a wife, mother, Aba, sister, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend, to a volunteer and leader, Mary was all-in. Her passion was infectious. She never stopped, never slowed, and her intention was always to make a positive impact. Mary never wanted to discuss her journey with cancer, nor make it about her, she wanted the focus to be on others and how she could help them.
With empathy and passion, she served on the Littleton Board of Education for eight years. Her decision to run was a natural evolution of her involvement as PTO President, and on school committees and councils within the district where her children attended school. She was dedicated to public education and always asked, “How is this best for our students?” She was also a committed Board Member of the Littleton Adventist Hospital Foundation which worked to improve the care of the people of our community. But truly, Mary’s greatest devotion was to her family. She always showed up and gave us everything she had. “The frogs were hopping. The water lilies were growing. The sun was peeking through the tall trees. The world, right there, was at peace, as am I.” Mary Nichols
Mary built the life she wanted, she exuded love, passion, charisma, and service.  Her passing leaves an irreplaceable void in our family and community. She will be sorely missed always.  We know that she is comfortably in Heaven and smiling down on us as we live life to the fullest in her honor.
Arrangements for her celebration of life will be posted here as they are finalized.
