Obituary Preview: James (Jim) Matthew Kilfoyle, 61 of Holt Michigan, went home to be with his Lord on Friday April 12, 2024. Jim was born on December 12, 1962, to Jack and Janet Kilfoyle in South Holland Illinois. After he graduated from Waverly High School in 1981, he went on to study at the University of Dayton and Michigan State University. After attending college Jim moved to Las Vegas Nevada with family and pursued careers in real estate and hotel management and became a successful amateur boxer. Jim’s passion was sports including baseball, basketball, boxing and most importantly, football. Jim coached varsity football as a defensive coordinator, defensive line coach, linebacker coach and pass game advisor for Eldorado High School, were he led the team to a Nevada State Championship in 1991. Jim coached for almost 20 years in Nevada, but always longed to return to Lansing.In 2010 Jim made the move back to Lansing and In May 2010 met Laura Deur, of Holland, and immediately fell in love. These two were married on May 21, 2011, and moved to Holt Michigan. Jim restarted his career pursuits in real estate, mortgage origination and insurance, and immediately started to coach again. Jim served as the 8th grade football President and in multiple positions on the Varsity staff (defensive line coach, linebackers coach, passing game coordinator). Jim’s coaching career then took him to Eaton Rapids High School where he served as the defensive line coach for the last couple of years. Jim felt most at home with his wife and fur babies, at his church and on the football field. Jim was an amazing husband, brother, brother-in-law, son-in-law, uncle, coach, employee and friend. He always had a word of encouragement and empowered all he met. His smile melted hearts and his laugh was infectious. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Janet Kilfoyle and his sister Cindy (Kilfoyle) Sackett. He is survived by his loving wife Laura (Deur) Kilfoyle, his mother-in-law Ann Hamilton, his father and mother-in-law Irvin and Kathy Deur, his brother John Kilfoyle, brothers-in-law Kent Sackett, Micheal Deur and Steve Deur. His nieces Becca Stauffer (Tyler) and great nephew Tidus, his niece Katie Sackett, his niece Cassie Jordan (Austin), his niece Jaclyn Giuliano (Paul), his great niece and nephew Margaux and Bear and nephew Keegan Deur. Visitation for Jim will be Thursday April 18 from 2:00-4:00 and 6:00-8:00 at Palmer, Bush and Jensen in Holt and the funeral will be held on Friday April 19 at 11AM with visitation from 10-11 and a lunch to follow. Donations can be made to South Lansing Christian Church.“Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go” (Joshua 1:9).

Traveling brought her immense pleasure, as she cherished the opportunity to explore new places and create lasting memories. Marilyn also had a profound love for animals and was a supporter of animal rights, advocating for the wellbeing of all creatures great and small.Marilyn was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Emil and Emma Grinstern, her husband Frank Tomeck, who passed away on February 5, 2000, and her cherished son Michael Tomeck. Her legacy lives on through her son Martin and his wife Lynn Tomeck.

Obituary Preview: Brad Allen Rinckey, 65, of Lansing, Michigan passed away February 13, 2024. He was born March 17, 1958 in Lansing Michigan to Carl Adelbert and Joan Kay (Gillespie) Rinckey Jr. Brad retired from the Michigan Army National Guard, and federal technician program, after serving for over 34 years. He found joy in the simple things of life. He loved to watch NASCAR, fish with his wife, play cards, hunt and fix anything that was broken. Most of all he loved being with his family in the garage or at the pole barn in Lake City.
Brad’s commitment to his family and friends was unwavering and he was a pillar of strength, reliability, and selflessness. He shared 25 beautiful years with his wife, Joyce (Riley) Rinckey, a bond that was a testament of partnership and mutual respect. Together, they raised a family that reflected his values. His daughter, Lacey (Jeffrey) Penfield II, his sons, Cody Riley-Bernard, Everett Rinckey, and Brad Allen Rinckey Jr. (AJ), along with his cherished grandchildren, Colton and Carley Penfield, were the pride and joy of his life.
His love and dedication will be deeply missed by his mother, Joan Rinckey, his brothers, Ted (Denise) Rinckey, Bruce Rinckey, and his sister, Janet (Mark) Robert, as well as many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Adelbert Rinckey Jr., father-in-law-, Joe VanRooyen, sister-in-law Fran Mohnke, and brother-in-law Mike Riley. Brad's legacy is not one of material possessions but of the love he gave, the lives he touched, and the smiles he created.
As we remember Brad, let us not dwell on the loss but celebrate the life of a man who was truly one of a kind. Let us carry forward the lessons he taught us: to be selfless in our love, generous in our actions, and always have the tools ready to fix anything. Brad, your departure was sudden, but your impact is eternal. Your presence will be missed, but your spirit will continue to guide us. Rest in peace, dear Brad, and know that your journey was a beacon of light that will continue to shine in the hearts of all who had the privilege to know you.

Patricia was born on November 14, 1934 in Fairpoint, Ohio, the daughter of William and Beulah (Cook) Gill and the youngest of eight children. Pat met her future husband at the young age of six while attending Sunday school classes at the First Presbyterian Church in nearby St. Clairsville, Ohio. By high school, they were inseparable and married in 1953 after graduation and would spend nearly 54 years together until Tom’s death in 2007. Together in Lansing, Pat and Tom raised their three children, Chris, Thomas Jr., and Jennifer. In later years Pat and Tom settled in rural Eaton Rapids, and started an apple orchard business they fondly named “Granny’s Orchard” with Pat lovingly in the title role. Family life was the center of Pat’s world and she was the thread that pulled them all together for the holidays and other family celebrations. She was an exceptional wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Totally devoted to her family she was all things; cheerleader, referee, counselor, teacher, advisor, caretaker, chauffer, friend, chef, protector, an outstanding role model and our personal North Star.
Preceded in death was her loving husband, Thomas Allan Taylor, Sr., her parents and siblings. Surviving are her children, Chris (Michael) Chapman, Thomas Jr. (Kim) Taylor, and Jennifer (Jeffrey) Higel; grandchildren, Erin (Michael) Sarzynski, Abby (Hitesh) Bhatt, Kyle Taylor, Samara Taylor (Jack Ward), Lindsey Gemalsky, Zachary (Noel) Higel, and Ben (Sue) Chapman; great-grandchildren, Reese, Owen, Amelia, Liam, Nina, Asha, and Maddie.

Joyce A. Henry was born October 03, 1936 in Lansing, MI the daughter of the late Lester A. and Hazel M. (Thompson) Beaumont and Ivan L. “Pete” Henry was born September 19, 1932 in Eaton Rapids, MI to the late Ivan W. and Edith M. (Faught). They went to Heaven together on Monday, January 22, 2024.
Pete and Joyce met when Joyce was a carhop at the Zesto Restaurant in Lansing. Pete saw this adorable girl and asked her out on a date. They dated for a while until Pete was called into service with the U.S. Navy. During his service, Joyce waited patiently for him and after he returned, he proposed. They were married December 17, 1954 and were married for 69 years.
They began their married life in Lansing, moved to Jackson in 1964 and stayed until their daughters graduated high school, then they moved to West Palm Beach for a short time and ended up in Lansing again in 1979 where it all began. Joyce worked for the State of Michigan and Pete worked in Real Estate. Together they enjoyed traveling and camping across the United States. They visited all 50 states, Mexico and Canada. They spent their time together in their retired years working in the yard, tending to the flower beds, and they enjoyed putting puzzles together.
Joyce was a talented quilt maker and custom designed over 100 of them for all of her family members. Pete could be found keeping up with family and friends on Facebook. Pete was also an extreme fan of MSU sports and the Detroit Lions.
Joyce and Pete raised their 2 daughters, Pamela Dunavant (Reginald Carter) and Paulette (Dan) Gallagher, and were blessed with 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Joyce also leaves behind her identical twin sister, Judy Grewett. Joyce was preceded in her death by her brother, Bruce Beaumont and her sister, Rachel Kzeski.

He even a had few 300 games to his name over the years. Richard was also an avid fisherman, running The River Rats Fishing Club for many years. In recent years, he always looked forward to spending a week each summer at the lake with his family. The highlight of these trips was teaching his grandsons how to fish.
Richard is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jackie, son Todd Yarch (Kirsten), daughter Robin Capel (Jeff) and the two loves of life, grandsons Collin and Colton. He is also survived by sisters Judy Furman (Doug) and Janice Yarch, brother Roger Yarch, in-laws Mary & Jeff Reynolds, Pat Elmo, and Chum Cherrette, as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents, Eleanor and Henry Yarch, sisters, Carol Hickman and Vicki Cherrette, in laws Pat & Harold Starr, and Tom Elmo.
A memorial will be on December 10th, 2023 from 1-3pm, with a prayer service following from 3-3:30pm, at Palmer, Bush, Jensen Funeral Home at the Holt Chapel, 5035 W. Holt Road, Holt, MI 48842.
