Elaine Walker, most recently of Hamburg, NY, died on Tuesday at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, Allen and Melaine Walker. She was 87.
Elaine was born in Mimico (now Toronto), Ontario and emigrated to the United States in 1960, upon her marriage to her husband, Gordon. Gordon and Elaine were married for 56 years, until Gordon’s death in 2014. Most recently, Elaine lived at Elderwood Assisted Living in the Village of Hamburg; before that, Elaine lived in Buffalo; first in Elmwood Village and then in North Buffalo.
Elaine was an avid reader (her Kindle always with her), an accomplished knitter and quilter, and an ardent traveler, travelling to Italy, France, the United Kingdom, Panama, and across her native Canada (twice!) by train; a particular favorite destination was Blue Mountain Lake in the Adirondacks.
Elaine is survived by her sons Kevin Walker-Neveras of Buffalo and Allen Walker of Colden, son-in-law Neil Walker-Neveras of Buffalo, and daughter-in-law Melanie Walker (nee Okoniewski) of Colden. She is also survived by her sisters Constance Ford of Mississauga, Ontario, Margaret Brown of London, Ontario, and Joanne Fearnall of Owen Sound, Ontario; and by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
