Obituary Preview: SUMMITVILLE, IN – Phyllis A. (Stitt) Brown, 82, entered peace and rest on Friday, April 26, 2024, following a brief illness at Community Hospital in Anderson.
She was born on January 2, 1942, in Marion to Charles and Thelma (Williams) Stitt and has lived in the Summitville area all of her lifetime. Phyllis was a graduate of Summitville High School-Class of 1960. She graduated from Ball State University with a Bachelor of Science degree and teaching license. Later, she also obtained her degree as a licensed practical nurse. She had taught at the former Indiana Business College in Anderson and was a substitute teacher in several schools in the area. Phyllis was a school bus driver for the Madison Grant School Corporation for 16 years. She was a reporter/correspondent for the Fairmount News-Sun newspaper for more than 25 years. In addition to all her roles mentioned, she was a dedicated farm wife, and did her part to maintain the Brown Family Farm in rural Summitville. Phyllis was a long time and active member of the Summitville Baptist Church where she served as a Deaconess, taught Sunday School, taught in Vacation Bible School and was involved in the music program of the church. At one time, Phyllis was an assistant leader to her son’s Boy Scout Troop. Her love of kids was apparent in many of her interests, and as a result, she was instrumental in influencing many young lives. She was very proud that she personally along with friends, nieces and nephews had traveled to all 48 continental states. Phyllis loved going to Shipshewana, shopping and dining there. She spent several years extensively researching her family’s genealogy. The Marion Wellness Center was a very important part of Phyllis’s life and health. Phyllis was an avid reader. She was an ardent fan of Bill and Gloria Gaither, their music, and the former Gaither Family Resource Center. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Morris Brown in 2019, a son Rodney Brown in 1966, a son Philip Brown in April 2024.
Services honoring Phyllis’s life, legacy and faith will take place on Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 1 pm in the First Baptist Church of Summitville, 700 East Mill Street, Summitville. Pastor Robert Lennens of the Fairmount Baptist Church will officiate. Interment will follow in Vinson Memorial Cemetery in Summitville. The Brown family will receive friends on Friday, May 3, 2024, from 4 pm to 7 pm at the First Baptist Church of Summitville and on Saturday, after 12 Noon prior to the service in the church. Philip E. Brown - August 14, 1960 - April 09, 2024

Obituary Preview: SUMMITVILLE, IN – Philip E. Brown, 63, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday evening, April 9, 2024.
He was born on August 14, 1960, in Elwood to Morris and Phyllis (Stitt) Brown and has lived in the Summitville area most of his lifetime. Philip was a graduate of Madison-Grant High School-Class of 1978. He was a dedicated farmer at heart all his life. He loved farming with his best friend, his dad Morris, before Morris passed away in 2019. He received great satisfaction in preparing the soil, planting the seed, nurturing, and watching the plantings grow and mature, and then reaping the harvest of that labor. In his early years, Phil was a fan of IU Basketball. Phil enjoyed showing 4-H pigs with his daughter Nancy. He enjoyed traveling and the western United States was his favorite destination. Phil loved his family dearly, but most importantly he loved being a Grandpa to Isabella. He served in the US Army National Guard Armor division from 1959 to 1960. David retired from Borg-Warner, formerly of Muncie, after 30 years of employment. Olene was born on December 16, 1930, in Edmonton, Kentucky to Joseph and Essie (Garmon) Garrett and has lived in the Summitville area since 1940. She was a graduate of Summitville High School- Class of 1948. Olene had worked at the Wesleyan Bookstore in Marion for 16 years, retiring in 1985. She had been involved in both the Fairmount and Summitville Wesleyan churches for more than 50 years. More recently, she was a member of the Congregational Christian Church in Winchester. She was a member of the former Summitville Home Economics Club. Olene enjoyed sewing and collecting antiques. Her door was always open for a good cup of coffee and good conversation. She loved to cook and bake for the ones she loved. Ella was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She was dearly loved and will be fondly remembered. He was born on January 9, 1953, in Anderson, the son of Richard Morris and Barbara Joan Fisher. Rick worked for Shepherd Tool in Elwood for 15 years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed playing basketball, was an avid NASCAR fan, and liked watching football.
Survivors include his father Richard Morris Fisher, Summitville; his wife, Stella “Chris” Fisher, Summitville; two sisters, Debbie (Bill) Bugby, Summitville, and Rachel (John) Ogdon, Jonesboro; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Rick was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Joan Fisher.
Services to honor Rick will take place on Monday, September 18, 2023, at 1:00p.m. in Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 W. Walnut St, Summitville, IN 46070.
Family and friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until the time of services on Monday at the funeral home.

He retired from Delco-Electronics in Kokomo in 1988 after 27 years of employment. He was a member of the United Auto Workers and the Hemlock Friends Church. Donna "Charlene" Frazier - October 04, 1926 - June 27, 2023

Obituary Preview: SUMMITVILLE, IN - Donna “Charlene” Frazier, 96, went home to be with her Lord and Savior and many loved ones on June 27, 2023. Born October 4, 1926, to Herbert and Edith (Corn) Miller, Charlene was born in Marion, Indiana. As the daughter of a minister, she lived in Summitville, Fishersburg and Flat Rock/Lewis Creek during her early school years before settling in Summitville as a freshman, where she met her husband, Phillip “Max” Frazier. She graduated from Summitville High School in 1944. She and Max were married on August 31, 1944, and first made their home in West Liberty, Indiana, then returned to Summitville in 1952. Inseparable, Max and Charlene were married 50 years before he passed away in 1995. They had three children: Vickie Joy, Max Jay, and Marlene Rochelle.
She and Max together were quite a team, completing many ambitious do-it-yourself projects, including the complete remodeling of two homes. Charlene would often dream up ideas of what she wanted, based on how she could best organize things in the home, and Max would execute the idea with precision. She was a wonderful hostess and often held parties on the spur of the moment for large gatherings. The couple loved spending time at their North Webster lake cottage and traveling in their motorhome on adventures across the United States.
Charlene worked at Woolworths in Marion and Haines Stellite in Alexandria, but devoted her time to being a mother, wife, homemaker and volunteer once the children were born. She was active in the First Baptist Church of Summitville, serving as a Deaconess, Sunday School Teacher and Church Secretary for many years. She was also Town Clerk of Summitville, Den Mother for Cub Scouts, and active in the Democrat Club, Home Economics Club, and Eastern Star. In her later years, she was asked to work in the Madison Grant High School Cafeteria for a couple of weeks to help out and ended up staying several years.
Highly creative and skilled at planning and organizing, Charlene kept meticulous records and albums. She was well-known for her beautiful handwriting and was often asked to personalize Bibles and certificates for presentation to others. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter, decorator, and gardener. After her daily lunch outings to favorite area restaurants, she could usually be found in her yard, planting flowers and landscaping, or working on projects in her sewing and craft rooms. She was an impressive instrumentalist and vocalist, playing piano, organ, and accordion by ear and singing. While growing up, she and her sisters regularly sang in churches as The Miller Sisters. Charlene’s perpetual smile and sweet, gentle personality will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughter, Marlene (Rick) Carey of Anderson; daughter-in-law, Pat Frazier of Summitville; grandchildren: Kelli Ann (Mike) Reasoner of Anderson, Kevin (Ashley) Frazier of Alexandria, and Cayla (Adam) Truman of Pendleton; great-grandchildren: Acelyn and Beckett Truman of Pendleton.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Edith Corn Miller; husband, Phillip Max Frazier; infant daughter, Vickie Joy Frazier; son, Max Jay Frazier of Summitville, and sisters, Wilma Joyner of Summitville and Norma Jean Isley of Flat Rock, Indiana.
Services honoring Charlene’s life and legacy will take place at 2 pm on Friday, June 30, 2023, in the First Baptist Church of Summitville, 700 E Mill St, Summitville, IN 46070 with Chaplain Don Miller officiating. Interment will follow in Park Cemetery at Fairmount. The Frazier family will receive friends after 12 Noon on Friday prior to the service.

Terry was born on November 21, 1957, in Peru to Dallas and Beverly (Young) Wibel and has lived in Summitville since 1988. He was a graduate of Maconaquah High School in Peru-Class of 1976. Terry had worked for General Tire in both Marion and Wabash for 26 years, retiring in 2002. He was a member of the Fairmount American Legion. Terry and Margo have camped for several years at Hoosierland Park. They enjoyed wintering in Bradenton, Florida where Terry was president of the RGE Men’s Club. He followed football and was a fan of the Green Bay Packers, the Indianapolis Colts and Notre Dame football. He also followed Indiana University Basketball. Fishing and riding his Harley played an important part in Terry’s life. She was an active bowler and had bowled in the Ladies of the Lane League with the same ladies for more than 50 years. She enjoyed sewing, crafting, yard work around her home, camping, fishing and rummaging. Bobby attended Anderson schools and graduated high school in 1980. He enjoyed riding ATVs, riding on his golf cart with his beloved wife Brenda, fishing with his family, going camping, and spending every minute he could with his family and his best buddy, Mavie. Bobby’s number one goal was to get his kids in trouble.
Survivors include his lifetime soulmate and wife, Brenda (McCune) Ramsey; three sons, Robert (Kimberly) Ramsey, KY, Ryan (Shelby) Ramsey, Alexandria, and Randy (Laci) Ramsey. Grandchildren, Mason Sanders, Robert Ramsey Jr., Brianna Ramsey, Maddie Ramsey, Isabella Ramsey, Lucas Ramsey, Kadence High, Remington Cox, Aymelya Ramsey, and Wynstyn Ramsey; one sister, Terry Ramsey, Anderson, one brother, Kenny (Carolene) Ramsey, TN; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Bobby was preceded in death by his mother, Mick O’Neill, and his aunts and uncles.

She was born on October 28, 1933, to Clifford “Dick” and Martha (Johnson) Branch in Anderson, Indiana.
On January 10, 1953, she became the bride of her forever friend and love, William “Bill” Stanley at the Methodist Church in Summitville.
She was a 1952 graduate of Summitville High School. After graduation she attended Elkhart University and received a degree as a medical technician. Her goal was to become a nurse but she chose to devote her life to her family as a homemaker. For two years, LeAnn was employed at the Hayworth Elementary School Cafeteria.
LeAnn attended the Hemlock Friends Church. Survivors include her husband of 70 years, William Stanley; one son, Mitchell Stanley (Angele) of Utah; a nephew and wife, Kevin and Brenda Robinson of Pendleton who were wonderful caregivers; 2 sisters-in-law, Nancy McKee of Indianapolis and Bloomington; Christina (William) Ranard of Bloomington; and several nieces and nephews
She was preceded in death by a daughter-Cynthia Jeanine Stanley in 1987; her parents and one brother Mark Branch.
Services honoring LeAnn's life and legacy will be Friday, January 20, 2023, in the Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 West Walnut Street, Summitville. Pastor Douglas Shoemaker of Hemlock Friends Church will deliver the eulogy. Obituary Preview: ALBANY, IN – Summitville native Jack K. Owens 87, passed away at his Albany residence on Tuesday, November 22, 2022, following an extended illness.
He was born on September 7, 1935, in Summitville to Basil and Ester (Carpenter) Owens and was a graduate of Summitville High School-Class of 1953. Jack enlisted in the United State Marine Corps and was honorably discharged as a corporal in 1955. He was a life member of the Marine Corps League and Second Marine Division Association. He was a member of the Alexandria American Legion Bright Post 87 later transferring to Albany. Jack worked for the former RCA Corporation in Marion for 39.5 years, with 29.5 of those years being in security. Jack’s life exemplified one of public service to his country, to Madison County and to his hometown of Summitville. He was a member of the Summitville Town Board and had served as the board’s president. He was a member of the Summitville Fire Department from 1956 to 1977. He was chief of the department for 9.5 years and an officer for 19.5 years. He was a certified EMT and a Master Firefighter, certified as an instructor 1st class and various other certifications. Jack was active in law enforcement serving several years with the Madison County Civil Defense and as a deputy with the Madison County Sheriff’s Association. He was a member of the Summitville Police Department from 1958 to 1975, reaching the rank of captain. She had a special place in her heart for all her fur babies throughout the years. She also shared a special friendship with her caregivers. She is survived by her close friends and caregivers Cindy (Doug) Hieatt. She also shared a close bond with Trey Hieatt and her many other special caregivers and her beloved fur baby “Gus.”
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, and her special aunt and uncle-Mary and William Call and her beloved pet “Buddy.”.
Services honoring Carolyn’s life will take place at 1 pm on Friday, October 14, 2022, in the Owens-Noffze Funeral Home, 1009 West Walnut Street, Summitville. Mike Owens will officiate the service.
