Born on November 15, 1939, in Oconee County, Georgia, to Russell L. Lee and Lois Huff, Russell was a man of integrity, dedication, and immense kindness, whose legacy will forever be cherished. Russell was blessed with a beautiful and enduring partnership with Marsha Mallard Lee, his wife of 61 years, also from Watkinsville, GA. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and shared dreams. He was a proud father to Brad Lee (and wife Vita Slaidins) of San Diego, and Kevin Lee (and wife Denise Collins Lee) of Atlanta; his legacy is further carried on by his adored grandchildren, Markus Lee, Katrina Lee, Harper Lee, Margot Lee, McKenna Collins, and Marin Collins, who will miss him deeply. A product of Oconee County, Howard as he was known to many, was a graduate of Oconee County High School and The University of Georgia, where he earned a degree in Agriculture Engineering. His professional journey was marked by dedication and excellence, notably at Carolina Power and Light (CP&L), now known as Progress Energy. Over 27 years, he ascended from an entry-level position to Senior Vice President of Operations and Customer Service, demonstrating unwavering commitment and leadership. During his tenure at CP&L, he cultivated profound professional relationships and enduring friendships, leaving a lasting impact on those he collaborated with. Upon leaving CP&L, Russell and Marsha returned to their roots in Oconee County, Georgia. He then served as the Executive Director of the Oconee County Chamber of Commerce for 11 years, significantly contributing to the community's growth and prosperity until his retirement.

Obituary Preview: Ann Rudd, 72, of Athens, Georgia, passed away on November 2, 2023 after a brief battle with cancer. Born in Fulton County, Georgia on September 3, 1951, Ann was the daughter of Everett L. Wright and Ruby Lee Wright. She grew up in South Carolina with her older sisters, Sarah Francis and Virginia Sue. Later in life she was reunited with two additional half siblings, Betty Jean and John. Ann spent many years of her career driving a school bus for both Walton and Oconee County Schools districts and was proud to have been a bus driver for the 1996 Olympics, which were held in Atlanta, GA.
Ann is survived by her loving sons, John Rudd (Jennifer) of Bogart, GA, and Eddie Wright (Rebecca) of Beattyville, Ky. She was a proud grandmother to Amanda McBride (Scott), Tiffany Robertson, Amber Wright, Kassi Wright, Gabe Rudd, and Mason Rudd; great-grandchildren, Landon McBride, Emma McBride, Gavin McBride, Everly McBride, and Maebree Robertson; She is also survived by her sister Sue Rhodes, her brother John Parrot, as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ann was preceded in death by both of her parents, her husband of many years, William David Rudd, her sons Tommy Wright and Paul Rudd, and her sisters, Sarah Ricks and Betty Jean Stell. Although she is no longer with us, Ann's memory will live on through her family, friends, and her beloved cat, Jethro.

Obituary Preview: Bobby Gary Doster passed away peacefully on July 31, 2023.  Bobby was born October 31, 1937 in Warren County, Georgia to Herschel and Inez (Cranford) Doster and raised in the Princeton community of Athens, Georgia.  He and his wife of 53 years, Martha (Stewart) Doster, were long‑time members of the community in Watkinsville, Georgia, and were charter members of Briarwood Baptist Church.  Bobby graduated from UGA’s Forestry program and worked as a forester in South Carolina for several years before returning to the Athens area.  Bobby and his brother Glenn then owned and operated Doster’s Garage in Watkinsville for 45 years.  Bobby supported his sons and their childhood friends as a long‑time Scoutmaster with Troop 149, and he was very proud that both of his sons and three of his four grandsons earned the rank of Eagle Scout (with the fourth to follow soon).  Bobby was preceded in death by his wife and parents.  He is survived by son Curtis, wife Mindy and grandsons Ryan and Will of Atlanta, son Corey of Bogart and grandsons Jake and Grady of Watkinsville, and brother Glenn, wife Janet and nephew Jimmy of Watkinsville.  Bobby will be remembered as a loving brother, husband, father and grandfather.
The family will receive visitors from 10:00‑11:00 am, Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the Oconee Chapel located at 2370 Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville, GA with services to begin at 11:00 am at Oconee Chapel.  Following services, a reception at the Fellowship Hall of Briarwood Baptist Church will be hosted by Bobby and Martha’s dear, long‑time friends.

Preceded in death by his wife of 38 years, JenJen, Chuck leaves behind two daughters, Crystal Bradberry of Kansas City and Ansley Irvin of Bogart, son Myles Tatum of Hull, sister Judy Sheppard, and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Loved life as a gentle, giving man, and he will be deeply missed. God gained an Angel, but we lost a great man.

Born in Birmingham, AL to Rudolph Watson Connor and Ruby Setzer Connor, Don played football for the University of Alabama and graduated with his bachelor's degree in 1956. He moved to Atlanta in 1962 and also lived in Macon before relocating to the Athens area. He worked as a salesman for Republic Steel. He was a member of St. Philothea Greek Orthodox Church in Watkinsville.
Along with his parents, Don was preceded in death by his first wife, Kyla Kelley Connor.
Don is survived by his wife of 25 years, Georgeta Stoian Connor; his children, Michael (Rene) Connor and Melissa (Don Radcliffe) Connor; two brothers, Jim (Cindy) Connor and Rudy (Sally) Connor; grandchildren Hayley Connor and Ella (Jeremy Shpizner) Radcliffe; great-grandson Henry Radcliffe Shpizner; along with many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, July 19 at Lord and Stephens, Oconee Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. with an Orthodox Trisagion prayer service at 6:30. Interment will follow the funeral service at Oconee Memorial Park.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: Allen (Sarah Chadwick) Hilley, Bryan (Sarah Arnold) Hilley, and Christopher (Sarah) Hilley.
A memorial service celebrating Butch’s life will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at 1PM at Oconee Chapel, 2370 Hog Mountain Road, Watkinsville, GA.

Ryon was preceded in death by his dad, Leo Edward “Eddie” Benton and stepdad, John Wolfe. He is survived by his mother, Kathy Wolfe; brother, Lee Benton; 2 sisters: Alice Moreland and Klaire Winslett (Eric); 3 nephews and 2 nieces.
Ryon was a graduate of Commerce High School and went on to earn a B.A. in Journalism and a Master’s in Rehab Counseling.
He was an avid sports fan, with a die hard love for the GA Bulldogs and Atlanta Braves.  He was also a force to be reckoned with on the golf course.
Ryon loved the Lord and was a fiercely loyal son, brother, and friend.
Our hearts are broken, but his body is healed.
"But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as Eagles."  Isaiah 40:31.

Obituary Preview: Hazel Janice Bernat of Watkinsville, Georgia passed away on March 29, 2023.
Born on March 31, 1942, in Flowery Branch, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Milton White and Grace Williams White. She was married for 41 years to Len Bernat.
Hazel worked for many years in the field of quality control and eventually was certified as a USDA Federal Meat and Poultry Inspector. In 1981, she met and married Len and began the adventurous life of a Marine officer's wife. She and Len were stationed at various duty stations over the next 12 years until they retired back to Georgia where she enjoyed time with her daughters, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a member of Ashford Memorial Methodist Church, the Christian Women's Association, and Maxeys Christian Church.
In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her beloved grandson, George Brandon King, great grandson, Griffin Hodge and her brother, Ernest White. She is survived by her husband; three daughters: Sheila (Larry) Hodge, Ginny (Greg) King, and Dana (John) Allen; two granddaughters, Amanda Hodge and Blayne Wolfe; three wonderful great-grandchildren: Isaiah King, Ava Wrenn, and Ansley Wrenn; three sisters: Hilda (Charles) Anglin, Janet Healen, Virginia (Bobby) Gilstrap; one brother, Travis (Geraldine) White; and nephews and nieces.

She was a lifelong member of High Shoals Methodist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Willie Pullin, Sr; and three brothers, Dwayne, Sam, and Alton.
Mrs. Pullin was a graduate of Morgan High School and retired from the Oconee County school lunchroom, where she had many friends and fed thousands of children. She was a wonderful cook and enjoyed cooking family meals for her loved ones. She loved being outdoors, cutting grass, gardening, fishing, and camping.
Funeral services are Friday 2:00 PM February 17, 2023, at Oconee Chapel, 2370 Hwy 53, Watkinsville, GA 30677, with Pastor Jeffrey Thomas officiating. The visitation will be Friday, February 17, 2023, at the Oconee chapel prior to service from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm. The interment will be in Oconee Memorial Park. Long and Mary Ann Long. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Michael Long.  Elaine was born and raised in Statham, GA, and graduated from Winder-Barrow High School in 1970 where she was voted wittiest by her classmates. Elaine continued to spread wit, laughter, and smiles throughout her lifetime. She has been a resident of Watkinsville, GA, since marrying her devoted husband of 46 years. On November 14, 2019, Elaine was diagnosed with AL amyloidosis. She courageously fought with grace and positivity until her last breath. Not only was she an inspiration to all who knew and loved her, but she also inspired numerous medical professionals with her poetic smile and fierce determination. The family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to her loving and dedicated caregivers who effortlessly became a part of the family in the past 10 months.
Elaine was a dedicated employee of the Clarke County School District for 31 years. She spent 18 impactful years at Alps Road Elementary School, followed by 4 ardent years at the Clarke County School District Board of Education. She concluded her meaningful career at Whit Davis Elementary School. Elaine spent half of her career with Dr. Joan Humphries by her side. Together, they were a dynamic duo and they both passionately believed in the teachers, students, parents, and administrators. Elaine served as the state president of the GAEOP for several years and attended many national conferences. During Elaine’s career, she received the Howard B. Stroud Award honoring her excellence in the school district. Elaine’s encouragement was felt daily by all who knew her. After retirement Elaine immersed herself in her family. She took on a caregiver role for her mother and her brother. She spent more time making special magical memories with her darling grandchildren. Her role as a mother, daughter, wife, sister, friend, and grandmother was an honor for her, and she always gave 110% to others. She was everyone's cheerleader and sprinkled sunshine and sparkle wherever she went.
Elaine would light up every room she entered. She exuded love and kindness. After working at Flowers Inc. during her early twenties, she became a floral enthusiast. She enjoyed creating beautiful arrangements for her friends and family. She had an amazing green thumb and cared for an abundance of plants in and around her home. Elaine never missed an opportunity to celebrate and bring people together. Her love for God was evident in her love for others. The world would surely be a better place with more individuals like Elaine in their lives. Survivors include her husband, Stanley Dickens, her daughter Camille (Brian) Dickey, her son, Tripp (Penney) Edwards; grandchildren Derek (Emily Kate) Edwards, Dylan Edwards, Daniel Edwards, Marylane Dickey, and Everly Dickey; brothers Ronald (Wanda) Long and Greg Long; brother-in-law Gerry (Debra) Dickens; 5 nieces, her dear cousin Marjorie (Billy) Ross and several faithful friends.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 21, 2022, at 1 PM, at Oconee Memorial Park Chapel with Rev. Anthony Costa officiating. Burial will follow at Oconee Memorial Park Cemetery. He is survived by his wife of 53 years Patsy; son Earl Snipes (Jennifer) and Wesley Snipes (Traci) of Watkinsville, GA; and his daughter Lauren Magaldi (Chris) of Mt. Pleasant, SC. Also grandchildren Jacob Snipes, Lily Snipes, Wren Snipes, Jacie Snipes, and Benjamin Snipes of Watkinsville; Ellie Magaldi and Claire Magaldi of Mt.
