His warmth and positive attitude was infectious which made him a well known figure in the community. From his siblings, to his friends and eventually the kids from the Carlsbad Boys and Girls club, he inspired positive energy. If there was a problem, Eli was the first to offer a solution. It was hard to stay sad or angry around Eli. He loved people and held a special place in his heart for his kids at the Boys and Girls Club. Being a former member, he understood the importance of having that safe space and fulfilling environment. He truly cared and that had an incredible impact on the kids as well as Eli.
There was only one thing Eli loved more than the people in his life and that’s music. Music was Eli’s passion from a young age and he was a consummate artist. Alicia Natividad Aberin - July 01, 1934 - January 12, 2024

Departed: 01/12/2024 (Oceanside)
Obituary Preview: Alicia Natividad Aberin, 89, of Oceanside, California, passed away peacefully as she slept, on January 12, 2024, surrounded by family members at her bedside.
Alicia was born July 1, 1934, to Emilio and Benedicta Natividad in Nueva Ecija, Philippines. After graduating from Santo Domingo High School, she went on to study dress making in Cebu. She joined her father’s business in custom made attire. They were well known in their province for making clothing for prominent members of society.
In 1959, Alicia met Celso Aberin. They were introduced by Celso’s brother, Piping, in Gapan, Nueva Ecija, and Celso starting writing Alicia letters. Alicia and Celso married in1960. They moved to California with the US Navy in 1962 and went on to have four children, Alvin, Celso Jr, Eileen, and Sheila. Alicia dedicated about 20 years of her life to raising children and continued to work after, at various jobs. In 1996, Alicia retired and spent her time enjoying grandchildren, going to church, giving to charities, gardening, galivanting and playing mahjong.
Alicia’s heart and soul was always with family. Every penny in dressmaking that she earned she gave to her parents. She took care of them. Married to a military man, Alicia raised four children in the US, often by herself and where she barely spoke the language. She cooked, cleaned, and ironed her husband’s military uniforms and even her baby cloth diapers. She was so funny in ways most people didn’t know about. As the kids grew up, she loved getting them ready for school with dimes for milk money, she safely guarded in their ears. She found the time to sew her children’s clothes, matching toddler outfits, and later formal prom dresses. She loved cooking Filipino food and was very content seeing everyone eat with bellies full.
The simplest pleasures in life brought great joy to Alicia and she saw the world through a colorful and playful lens. She came to love gold jewelry and started her own small business. Alicia always had a green thumb. She loved her roses, cacti, the aroma of gardenias, and colorful bougainvillea. She had an uncanny way of always being seen as innocent and childlike no matter what mischief she got herself into and no matter how guilty she was. Alicia loved winning at mahjong and games, she enjoyed puzzles, crossword, and crocheting. She was a fierce advocate for the disabled, those in need, and those suffering. Alicia was always selfless, generous, and donated to charities as much as she could.
Alicia is survived by her husband, Celso, sons Alvin and Celso Jr., and daughters Eileen and Sheila. She was fortunate to have grandchildren Melanie, Tiffany, Rachel, Alexandria, and Ethan as well as great grandchildren Marlee, Andy, Jordan, and Joi; and many relatives.
