Obituary Preview: Debra Jean Steckler Cutter, passed away in the care of SouthernCare Hospice after a long illness. Born on September 29, 1949 to William and Mary Ann Steckler in Pittsburg PA
Debra moved to Elyria in late 1950’s and attended Elyria High School.
She married the love of her life Robert Dick Cutter when she was 17 after dating since she was 14.
They moved from Maine to Hawaii and then back to Ohio. They lived in Elyria until 2000 when they moved to LaGrange, Ohio. She loved to sit outside with Dick and just enjoy the quiet.
Debby worked at Higbees, Sotz-home wood burning Stove Company, and Banner Vending. Debby made friends everywhere she worked and everywhere she went. Debby loved gardening, reading, camping, boating, garage sales, and shopping.She loved going out in the antique cars with Dick to car shows, weekend events, or just a fun drive.
Debby was very active in the antique car club. She was the secretary of the club and she and Dick prepared many events and trips for the club. She loved the car club, all of the friends and enjoyed including her granddaughters in events for the club.
Debby’s granddaughters were the light of her life. She loved spending time with them. When they were little she cared for them weekly. She would take them to story time, the Duck Pond and the Metro Parks for the weekly activities. They would spend the night and often spend the weekend with them at their boat.
Debby has left behind her loving husband, Robert Cutter; son, Daniel Cutter; daughter, Paula Staffeld (Roger); granddaughters Hannah and Hailey Staffeld; sister, Sandra Conrad; and brother-in-law, John S. Cutter III. She was preceded in death by her parents William Michael and Mary Ann (nee Kabutka) Steckler.
Friends and family will be received on Sunday, May 1, from 4-7 p.m. at Norton-Eastman Funeral Home, 370 South Main St, Wellington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish, beginning at 11 am. Burial will follow at River Road Cemetery.

Ralph Hyde - January 19, 1936 - April 24, 2022

Obituary Preview: Ralph Neville Hyde, 86, of Safety Harbor, FL, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 24, 2022. He was born on January 19, 1936, in Wellington, OH, the son of the late Henry Neville and Ethel Leota (Swartz) Hyde.
Ralph was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He had a long and successful career in law enforcement with the Wellington Police Department (3 ½ years), the Dunedin Police Department (27 years) and Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office (3 ½ years), for a total of 34 years in service to his community. Ralph was a devout Christian and his love for the Lord was evident in everything he did. He was a role model and hero to his family. Though he had a tough, intimidating exterior, his personality was warm, loving, caring and compassionate. A true family man, he was fiercely proud of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ralph is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Elaine Hyde; his four daughters and their husbands, Dianne and Gary Robinson, Brenda and Don Mast, Donna and Phil Sellers, and Cindy and Todd Belair; his brothers and their wives Roger and Glenda Hyde, Dick and Joyce Hyde, Ted and Linda Hyde; and his brother Wayne Hyde; his nine grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will hold a private burial service at Sylvan Abbey Memorial Park.

Tutko, 66, of Ashland, passed away on Saturday, April 23, 2022, after recent health complications at University Hospital in Cleveland.  She was born on May 21, 1955, in Lodi, to the late Elmer and Dorothy (Strawser) Steele. She was a 1973 graduate of Black River High School.
Connie loved animals, and had a gift with animals of all kind.  She enjoyed going to clubs and casinos.  In addition to working on the family farm, Connie had also worked for the former Fisher Body in Elyria and N&N Manufacturing (formerly Whirlaway) in Wellington.
Survivors include her loving husband of nearly 45 years, Tom Tutko; son, Mike Tutko; grandchildren, Ashlee, Emmalee and Thomas; and great grandchildren, Mila and Riley.  She is also survived by several cousins.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Linda Landis, Ronald Steele and Michael Steele.

Glenn Larry Struckoff - April 16, 1945 - April 20, 2022

Obituary Preview: Glenn Larry Struckoff, 77, of Nova, passed away peacefully at his residence on Wednesday, April 20, 2022, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Pittsburgh, PA, to the late Dorothy Elizabeth (nee Dye) and Glenn Milton Struckoff on April 16, 1945. Glenn moved to the Nova area in 1973.
Glenn worked for the Ford Motor Company in the paint department and retired after 31 years. He was a member of the Ashland Eagles and past president of the Nova Coon Hunters Club. He also enjoyed farming as well as gardening and canning with his friends in the neighborhood. Glenn also liked listening to country music, deer hunting and attending his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Mary Lou (nee Fuller) Struckoff; children, David Glenn Struckoff, of Nova, Debbie Wiley, of Kipton, Diane (Ralph) Lloyd, of Grafton, and Donna Calabrese, of Amherst; 14 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and siblings, Bruce Struckoff, of PA, Lloyd Struckoff, of PA, , Sue (Ed) Hawkins, of Fl, and Eleanor (Roger) Pitts, of Vermilion. He was preceded in death by his son, Daniel Neil Struckoff; daughter, Cheryl Lynn Struckoff, twin brother, Galen Struckoff, and brother, Claude Struckoff.

Obituary Preview: Barbara Ann Moore (nee Pitts), of Wellington, died peacefully April 17th at the age of 82. Born January 28th 1940, in Cleveland, Ohio, she was married to her high-school sweetheart, Donald R. Moore, Jr. for over 30 years before his passing in 1992. Together, they owned and operated the White Front Tavern from 1977 through 1995.
She was a wonderful mother, an excellent cook, and a voracious reader. To her children, she instilled a love of music ranging from Beethoven to The Beatles, a love of gardening and cooking, and a “no-nonsense” approach to life. Among her greatest joys in life were listening to her sons playing in a rock band or her granddaughters singing and playing guitar at family gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Pitts; husband, Don; daughter, Kimberly; brother, Joseph; and sister, Jeanette. She is survived by brother, Timothy (Carmela) Pitts, of Bainbridge; sons, Kevin (Diana), of Wellington, Sean (Renee), of Columbus,  Adrian (Lia), of Columbus; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Springer, of Brunswick and Karen Pitts, of Painsville Twp.; granddaughters, Katherine(Ryan) Hosch, Elizabeth (Eric) Moore, Sarah Moore, and Rebecca Moore; grandson, Ian Moore; great-grandchildren, Parker, Connor, Lilyan, Vivian, and Legend; beloved friends, Robin Twining of Wellington, Kathleen Marlow of Elyria, and Shirlee Stowinsky of Macedonia; and many nieces and nephews.

Larry attended Wellington High School and Oberlin School of Commerce. Following graduation, he joined the US Air Force and proudly served from 1956-1960. Larry retired from WS Tyler, formerly known as Wedge Wire. He was a member and past president of the Wellington Eagles. In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, gardening and tending his flowers, feeding and watching the birds, and camping trips with family. Most importantly, he treasured time with his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include wife, Doris (nee Layer) Gray; children, Lynn (Betsy) Gray, of Oberlin, Rosanne (Tom) Storrow, of Wellington, Jerry Gray, of Wooster, Garry (Amanda) Gray, of Sullivan, and Julianne (Tony) Vestal, of Mt. Juliet, TN; step children, Ed (Peg) Ruth, Patricia (Kirk) Gott and Michael (Pam) Ruth; 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren; 7 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Linda King, of TX. Cynthia previously worked as a nurse’s aide and then she became a fixture at Taco Bell, and most recently at the Village Market, in the deli. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and shopping trips. Cynthia also enjoyed discovering new places and enjoying new food. But most of all she treasured time spent with her family.
Survivors include her loving children, Stacy (Robert) West, of Wakeman, Thomas Evans, of Wellington, Stephanie (John) Bukowski, of Lima, Shad Bukowski, of North Carolina, Dean Bukowski, of Lima, Jessica Davis and James Davis, both of Wellington; grandchildren, Elizabeth, Elijah, John, Emerlynn, Esslynn and Cameron; mother and step-father, Marsha and Jack Dean; companion, Howard Davis; siblings, Catherine Nixon, Clayton (Cheryl) Dean and Jack (Michelle) Carrigan. She was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Cazeau; grandson, Lucas McDermott, and brother in law, Dan Nixon.

Obituary Preview: Kenis D. Keathley, 40, of Sullivan, died from an unexpected illness on Sunday, March 27, 2022, at Mercy Regional Medical Center. Born June 4, 1981 in Lorain, he was the son of Sammy B. and Beverly (nee Bailey) Keathley. Kenis spent most of his life in Sullivan and was a 1999 graduate of Black River High School and the Medina County Career Center.
Kenis was a manager at Worthington Industries where he worked for 21 years. He was a member and administrator with the Firewood Hoarders Club, an online forum dedicated to all things wood and chainsaws. He enjoyed participating in chainsaw races, volunteering to cut firewood for others, or just talking about wood and saws. Kenis was an avid collector, trader, and giver of flashlights, especially Olights, and knives and guns. He loved to take trips to Kentucky to go hunting and 4-wheeling. He was most at home when around others, sharing stories and making people laugh. Most of all Kenis loved his wife and children and cherished the time he spent with them. In a final act of compassion, Kenis was an organ donor.
Survivors include the love of his life, his wife of 16 years, Jennifer (nee Bryson) Keathley; his children, Logan and Mikayla Keathley; and his loving parents, Sammy and Beverly Keathley.

Dennis served in the United States Navy as a submariner. He was a draftsman by trade and worked for Union Carbide and Anderson IBEC, before starting his own company, American Consulting. Dennis was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Parish. He was a talented craftsman and loved to build things and work with wood. Dennis also enjoyed playing ball, fishing, and boating. Most of all, he cherished time spent with his family.
Survivors include his loving wife of nearly 59 years, Tana (nee Spelic) O’Donnell; children, Correen (Kevin) Brown, of Twinsburg, James (Sharon) O’Donnell, and Erin O’Donnell, both of Bay Village, Matthew (Christelle-Emma) O’Donnell and Hugh (Jennifer) O’Donnell, both of Rocky River, Michael (Pam) O’Donnell, of Pleasanton, CA, Brenna (David) DeVito, of Westlake, Eamon (Nicole) O’Donnell, of Rocky River, and Liam (Donna) O’Donnell, of North Ridgeville; 30 grandchildren; 5 great grandchildren, and 7 siblings. Obituary Preview: Dennis Lee Stump, age 90 of Pittsfield, passed away March 19, 2022 at New Life Hospice in Lorain, Ohio, following a brief illness.
He was born February 29, 1932 in Gassaway, West Virginia. He came to Ohio in 1940 with his dad, his three brothers and a sister. He lived, grew up and married in the Oberlin/Wellington area.
Dennis owned and operated several gas/service stations in the Lorain County area from 1957 to 1971 before taking a job at Ridge Tool Company as an automatic screw machine operator. He retired from Ridge Tool as a security guard in 1989. Retiring early, he couldn’t just sit at home and he and his wife Jane became vendors at Jamies Flea Market. He worked at Farm and Home in Wellington, was in charge of maintenance for Pittsfield Community Church for 11 years and served as Deacon for 3 years. Because he always knew what was happening in the community and where to get things done, he held the unofficial title of “Mayor of Pittsfield”, where he and Jane lived for 40 years. He enjoyed his friends and being “a wealth of information.”
Dennis is survived by daughters, Denise (Roger) Johnson of Elyria and Maria (Bill) Fox of Baltimore Ohio, sister, Clara Mae Welch of Newark, Ohio, brothers, Frank Moss, Darrell Moss, Dale Moss of Elyria and Jerry Moss of Arizona, 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 11 great-great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Jane Golden (Welch); sons, Jeffery Lynn and John Ira Stump; daughter, Julia Ann; father, Shirley Lewis Stump; mother, Mabel Moss; sister, Jean James; brothers, Johnny Moss, James Glenn, and Bernard Stump.
Friends and family will be received on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the Pittsfield Community Church, 17026 State Route 58, Wellington, from 11 a.m. until the time of services beginning at 1 p.m. Rev. Obituary Preview: Joyce Browand, 92, passed away Friday, March 18, 2022. Joyce was a lifelong resident of Brighton Township.
Joyce worked in the Wellington School System before becoming a stay at home mother to raise her five children. She was a member of the Brighton United Methodist Church and was active on many committees. Her favorite pastimes were winters in Florida, spending time with family, especially her grandchildren, baking, and her many cats.
She is survived by her husband, Wilbur, of nearly 73 years, and her children, Dale (Cindi), Denny, Claudia, Diana (Ed) Gott, and Gary (Leslie). She also enjoyed ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Obituary Preview: Idell Kay Brinker, 69, of Wellington, died unexpectedly Monday, March 14, 2022. Born in Wiggins, Mississippi on November 5, 1952, she was the daughter of the late Ervin K. and Marjorie B. (nee Sorg) Brinker. She was a 1971 Elyria High School graduate and moved to Wellington in 1991.
Idell worked at Forest City Technology for many years and was an avid Cleveland Indians fan. She also enjoyed listening to music, especially the oldies and country.
Left to cherish her memory are siblings, Carmen Brinker, of Creston, Charlene Wuthrich, of Sullivan, Beverly Bricker, of Troy, Warren Brinker, of Spencer, and Clayton Brinker, of Branford, FL; as well as several nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Rodney William Greene, 56, of Wellington, died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 10, 2022. On January 31, 1966, he was born in Bay Village to William and Vada (nee Terry) Greene. Rodney attended Oberlin High School and worked many years as a truck driver, most recently for A&R Transportation.
He enjoyed riding Harleys and was a talented woodworker.  His time was often spent outdoors, where he liked hunting, fishing, and hiking. Rodney’s kids and grandkids were the pride and joy of his life.
Rodney is survived by his wife of almost 29 years, Rhonda; children, Reiley (Taquan) Greene, of Elyria, Rachel (Cody) Greene, of Continental, and Ryan Greene, of New London; grandchildren, Ma’leo, Mila and Malakai Kirk and Isabelle Ferguson; mother, Vada Greene; siblings, Loretta (Jim) Rowe, Suzy (Dan) Lawson and Nancy (Randy) Willbond; father-in-law and mother-in-law, John and Iva Sherwood and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William in 2014, and his nephew, Josh Brown.

Born in Fayette County, Pennsylvania on August 3, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Elsie (nee Helmick) and Elroy McElfresh. She was a 1944 German Township High School graduate and resided in Valley City, Litchfield, and Lacombe, LA before residing in Wellington.
Elsie was a member of Faith Christian Church of Spencer and Eaton Grange. She was a talented seamstress, and enjoyed knitting and crocheting. Elsie received many awards for her submissions to both the Lorain County and Ohio State Fair.

An avid outdoorsman, Will loved to hunt and fish, ride dirt bikes and four wheelers, and practice shooting.  He truly cherished his family.

Greg worked for the Village of Wellington, beginning in 1996, and had recently become the superintendent of the water and waste water departments. For 22 years he served with the Wellington Fire Department, retiring in 2017. He was very active with the department while he served and also assisted on the dive team. Greg was a lifelong member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Parish and was involved in teaching PSR for several years.
Greg lived life to the fullest and was known to be the life of the party. He was outgoing and welcoming, respected by many in his community, and will be remembered for his infectious laugh, his constant smile, larger than life personality, and his love of joking around. He was a hard worker and strove to always do right by others and was always willing to help others. Greg was smart and knowledgeable about many topics (weird stuff according to his kids). He loved fishing, playing cards, watching movies, bike riding, and sharing a beverage with his friends and family. Greg was a doting father who loved to watch his kid’s sporting events and was so proud of each of them.
Survivors include his loving wife of 24 years, Connie (nee Booth); children, Erin, Karlie, and Alexander, all of Wellington; his parents, John and Ann Marie Frenk, of Wellington; brothers, Neil (Kori) Frenk, of Vermilion, and Todd (Jessica) Frenk, of Amherst; sister-in-law, Jackie (David) Bowman; brother-in-law, Dennis Booth; nephew, Joshua, as well as several other nieces and nephews; and special friends Bruce and Staci Lehmkuhl and their kids.

Michael retired this past June as an air traffic controller in Oberlin. Prior to coming to Wellington, he had lived in Depew, New York for 5 years where he started his air traffic control career. Faith was an integral part of Michael’s life and he lived by the words, “Jezu Ufam Tobie” – Jesus, I trust in You. He was a devoted member of St. Patrick Catholic Parish. Michael dabbled in beekeeping and enjoyed playing the guitar, but his true passion and joy was his family. He cherished time spent with his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Survivors include his loving wife of 30 years, Christine (nee Whitcomb); children Mandolyn (Alex) Barni, of LaGrange, Christian, Michaela, Gabriel, Melanie, and Graciella Toth, all of Wellington; granddaughters Gemma and Avarie Barni; brothers, Matthew and Mark Toth, both of Pittsburgh, and father-in-law, Robert Whitcomb, as well as many sisters and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.

Bernita was a member of the Pittsfield Community Church for many years. She remained active for nearly all of her 78 years, enjoying gardening, making blankets for families with new born babies, and cooking and baking for friends and family. Bernita was an avid sports fan and loved attending games, especially her beloved Wellington Dukes. Most of all she cherished time with family, hosting family gatherings and Sunday dinners.
Survivors include her children, Brian Hurst, Kevin Hurst, Todd Hurst, and Beth (Thad) Gott; grandchildren, Ethan, Josh, Jeremy, Cara, Lilli, Lindsey, and Ned; and great grandchildren, Kaiden and Emma. Born on July 4, 1929, in Oberlin, and raised on the family farm in New Russia Township, Eunice was the daughter of the late Raymond and Nellie (nee Worcester) Reisinger.
Eunice was a 1947 graduate of Oberlin High School. During her high school years she was a varsity cheerleader, as well as participating in GAA, annual staff, fine arts, and served as an office assistant.
She was introduced to her future husband by friends after he returned home from his service to the US Navy in 1946. Eunice was married to Richard on October 9, 1949, at the First Methodist Church in Oberlin.
For the next five decades, she joined her husband in the operation and management of the farm in which he was a partner with the Breyley family. Eunice was especially proud of the fact that the multi-generational farm was recently able to reach century farm status signifying 100 years of continuous operation.
Eunice treasured her grandchildren and great grandchildren; she was always attentive, enjoyed teaching recipes and sending cards to them.
She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Wellington. She also held memberships with the Deborah Circle and the Farm Bureau. Eunice and Richard especially enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida with a group of beloved friends from the area, with whom she had enjoyed a lifelong friendship.
She is survived by her loving children, Diane (Tom) Hinkle, Douglas DeVies, and Dennis DeVies; 4 grandchildren, Ryan, Thadd, Colby, and Jourdan; 12 great grandchildren, Savannah, Riley, Aurora, Corrine, Callum, Kaitlyn, Kerstan, Tristan, Landen, Isabella, Katarina, and Josephine; and her beloved sister, Linda Hanmer. Eunice was preceded in death by her husband, Richard and her sister, Jean McConnell.

Highly active in pet rescue, Cyndi cared deeply about finding new homes for dogs – even saving several by welcoming them into her own home. She will be remembered as a kind, loving, beautiful person who was patient and extremely generous with her time and gifts.
Cyndi is survived by her loving husband of 22 years, Christopher; son, Ryan Carmichael, of Oberlin; grandson, Ethan Carmichael, of Oberlin; mother, Bernice Schaefer, of Elyria; brothers, Eric Hines, of Elyria, and Russ Hines, of Arlington, TX ; sister, Diane Yeager, of Wellington and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Larry Hines.
