Rose was born on September 8th in St. Paul, Minnesota. She grew up with one brother, Thomas and three sisters, Jackie, Joann and Kathleen. She has many nieces and nephews. Rose attended Saint Agnes for High School. Her first job was at Grant's Department Store. She worked as a file clerk at Brown & Bigelow for 47 years - a job she really enjoyed.In the past, Rose liked boating and fishing for sunnies. She grew flowers and vegetables. She enjoyed riding her bike and was part of a Polish dance group. She knitted blankets, sewed and baked on occasion. She liked taking pictures of family moments and making photo albums. Rose loved dogs, reading, doing all kinds of puzzles and playing Bingo. She liked going anywhere in nature and occasionally watched birds. Her favorite sport was baseball and especially the Minnesota Twins. She liked country music and old favorites such as Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin. Her favorite radio station was WCCO.Rose was a member of St. Adelbert's and St. Agnes Catholic churches. She was active in many groups at both and volunteered. She liked studying the Bible. "Although I never married and had children of my own, I have 10 nieces and nephews plus their spouses, and many great and great-great nieces and nephews - so I have many children." Terry was born February 25, 1949, grew up in the St. Paul area, and after high school joined the United States Marine Corp and served in Vietnam. Because of injuries suffered in the service, he was a 100% disabled veteran. He met Constance Elizabeth “Connie” Gallas and they married on July 6, 1968 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Terry was employed by the Upper St. Anthony Falls Lock and Dam for 25 years and retired as head lock and dam operator.

Terry is survived by his wife of 54 years, Connie; his children, Shawn (Irene), James (Heidi), and Shannon; 5 granddaughters, Maria, Samantha, Marissa, Michelle, and Emily; 1 great-granddaughter, Victoria; his brother, Patrick; and many friends, family, cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family acknowledges the on-going spiritual guidance of Reverend John Gallas through Terry’s final illness. Funeral mass will be held at 11 AM on Monday, January 24, 2022, at Transfiguration Catholic Church, 6133 15th St N, Oakdale, MN 55128, with visitation one hour prior to the mass at the church. Immediately following mass interment will take place at Calvary Cemetery, 753 Front Ave, St Paul, MN 55103. Due to Covid-19, there will be no luncheon. Survived by love of her life, partner in crime and shenanigans Husband of 58 years, Patrick; son Sean (Darla); daughter Shannon DeVinny; grandchildren Nicholas DeVinny, Lauren (Austin) Lyons, Samantha McGahan & Jessica (Tracy) Bowersox; great grandchildren Carson & Weston Lyons. Karen had many bonus children and grandchildren along the way. To know her was to be loved by her, she never turned anyone away, never judged and always had an open door. She mended many hearts, fed many mouths, nurtured many lost souls and bandaged many deep wounds with love and laughter. Pat and Karen lived in Hugo over 35 years together, both Harding High School graduates, she worked for Ramsey County Human Services Welfare Department for 35 years. She will be greatly missed by children, Mary (Steve) Jungbauer, Patricia Shanley, Michael Shanley, Colleen (Ron) Singh, Robert (Cristin) Shanley, and Kathleen Scharffbillig (Ron Rose); 19 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and close friends through the years. Sleep in Heavenly Peace, until we meet again. We will love and miss you always.

Janice Maurine Kersey - August 17, 1940 - December 21, 2021

Obituary Preview: Janice “Jan” Kersey, 81, passed away after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's Disease on December 21, 2021 in Roseville, MN. Jan was born on August 17, 1940 in Pine City, MN. After spending her early years in Sandstone, she moved with her family to Minneapolis in 1945 where she and her family were actively involved at First Evangelical Free Church. At a church youth event Jan met a young boy named Dave Kersey who was presenting a magic show. They quickly struck up a friendship, and soon Jan was assisting Dave in these presentations. This would be the beginning of a ministry that they would share for 65 years.

A year after graduating from Washburn High School in 1958, Jan married Dave and together they embarked on a fabulous adventure. After two years in Texas where Dave served in the Army, they were very glad to return to Minneapolis in 1963 where Jan worked for the Minneapolis Tribune and Dave enrolled in broadcast school. In 1964 they relocated to the Fargo/Moorhead area to work together at Christian radio station KFNW. While Dave did the on-air work at the station, Jan worked tirelessly behind the scenes doing everything from hosting events to lawn care and building maintenance. Together they organized and hosted multiple tours of the Holy Land in the 1970s, and regularly visited local churches throughout the Red River Valley to share their travels, testimonies and song.

Jan and Dave welcomed their first child, Jim, in 1967, followed by Bill in 1968 and Kris in 1970. Even as a busy mother Jan continued to be involved in the ministry with Dave as well as being involved in many capacities at Moorhead Evangelical Free Church. When the kids were old enough, she would often load them up into her VW Beetle and head out to the radio station where she would embrace her lengthy list of responsibilities while the kids would run and play on the prairie. Jan was room mom, girl scout leader and the backbone of her family. She continually put the needs of others ahead of her own and she had a true servant's heart.

In 1980 Jan and her family returned to the Twin Cities, where she began working for the MS Society and then for the local school district as a special education teacher's assistant. After realizing that working outside the home took too much time away from her own family, she decided to pursue a career in home daycare. She loved being able to work at something she enjoyed so much and still be home to take care of the needs of Dave and her children. She developed a special bond with the children and families she helped, forming relationships that lasted long after the children outgrew her care.

In 1986, she and Dave moved once again, this time to Tucson, AZ, where she continued her work in daycare at home and at Casas Adobes Baptist Church. After her own children left the home, she and Dave enjoyed traveling and spending time with the many friends that they had made throughout their 40 years of ministry. They made two more journeys to the Holy Land before Dave retired in 2004, and in later years were both actively involved in ministry at the Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene. During this season of her life it was with her grandchildren that she most enjoyed spending her time. They were precious to her and they all loved spending the night with Nana and the many activities and adventures she planned for them.

Jan and Dave made one last move back to Minnesota in the summer of 2014 to be closer to two of their children. They made Lindstrom their home and loved being near their daughter and her family, enjoying weekly meals together and establishing loving relationships with the other grandchildren who had previously been so far away. Jan loved sharing her many gifts and talents with others. She loved gardening and always had beautiful flowers for all to enjoy. She was very accomplished in sewing, knitting and crocheting, and made many gifts to share with family and friends. Jan loved entertaining, whether it was hosting a family birthday party, holiday celebration or a gathering of friends. She took special pride in decorating her home and worked hard to make it a special environment that displayed her own personal touch, and her organizational skills were impeccable. She truly enjoyed helping others and was always the first to say “Oh, I will help you with that!”

Jan’s greatest passion was her relationship with Jesus. She was known to wake up long before anyone to start the day reading her Bible and in prayer. In her final months, she continued to joyfully sing hymns and quote scripture even after Alzheimer’s had taken its toll. Her kind heart, loving attitude and beautiful smile will be fondly remembered by those who knew her. As her family gathered around her and she took her last breath on this earth, she was welcomed into Heaven where she is now free from disease and experiencing the glory of Heaven with her Lord and Savior.

Died Dec. 20, 2021, having recently reached age 90. Jim grew up in St. Paul’s Frogtown. At 16, he taught himself to rewire his family’s electric service, the first of countless money-saving DIY projects. A year out of St. Agnes High School, Jim crashed the grad party of fellow Aggie Carol Gerten. He took her on a first date to Excelsior Amusement Park, and eventually down the aisle. Jim studied chemistry at the University of Minnesota, paying tuition by digging graves. He worked as a semiconductor engineer at Unisys for 30+ years, earning multiple patents. Together, Jim and Carol built a life on St. Paul’s East Side, raising six kids, playing lots of bridge and celebrating their 67th wedding anniversary last August. Each summer vacation, Jim packed the family into the car, leaving before sunrise “to beat traffic.” An active member of St. Pascal’s, he once led the Men’s Club. In retirement, Jim enjoyed golf with friends, summers at the cabin, winters in Florida. He will be missed by his family, especially his devoted Carol. The best decision Jim ever made was asking her to marry him. Jim was preceded in death by sister Cathy “Sis” Olson. Survived by wife Carol; children Jim Jr. (Betsy), Patricia (Craig Bachman), Jeanne (Jeff Schneider), Mike (Wendy McGraw), Paula (Jeff Peck) and Rob (Laura Linn); 14 grandchildren and many friends, family. Tom retired from the U.S. Postal Service and previously worked for the MN Department of Transportation. In his retirement years, Tom became known as the teddy bear man. His hand sewn bears were a source of comfort for individuals who were struggling with loneliness and mental illness. Tom has made over 1,000 bears. Also, one of his many passions was to attend theatrical arts with his friends and family.

Obituary Preview: Laura Lynn Greenwood was born September 8, 1963 to Jerud and Jeanne Greenwood in St. Paul, Minnesota.  Laura’s childhood was spent growing up in Centuria, Wisconsin with her parents and four sisters.  She enjoyed the activities most children of the time enjoyed – riding bike, fishing, listening to records.  As a teen, Laura did a lot of babysitting, establishing a lifelong friendship with one special family, the Nelsons.

Laura graduated from Unity High School in 1981 and continued her education at the University of Wisconsin–Platteville where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education.  Laura built a career as a preschool teacher in daycare settings, making a difference in hundreds of “little lives” over the years.

As an adult, Laura made her home in East St. Paul.  Wanting so much to be a mom, her proudest achievement was becoming a parent, first to Niko then later to Krystopher. Most of her adult life was focused around raising her two boys as she guided them to become strong and good men. She was very proud of them.

Laura was an animal lover since childhood and found joy in being a “pet parent.”  She loved old movies and classic TV shows, word games, monarch butterflies, and spending time with her friends.  She had a hard work ethic and a generous heart. She would do anything for those she loved and help anyone that she could help.  Her friends and family enjoyed her dry and sarcastic style of wit and humor.

Though Laura faced many obstacles in her life, she was a strong person who always just marched on, focused on gratitude for what was going right, and hope for what the future could bring. She didn’t look back.  This was highlighted when Laura was hospitalized with Covid-19 on December 1.  The hospital staff commented that she did whatever was asked of her, she never complained, and she was a pleasure to care for.  Laura was always strong – in life and in Faith.  The Lord finally called her to peace on December 15, 2021.

Laura is preceded in death by her parents, Jerud Greenwood and Jeanne Greenwood Schueble (Kirchgatter), grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.  She is survived by her children Niko (Stephanie) Greenwood and Krystopher Greenwood; her sisters, Diane (David) Kurtz, Karin (Andy) Kromrey, Cindy (Ron Bukovich) Greenwood, and Tina (Craig) Friedel; many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Celebration of Laura's life will be held at 3:00pm on Thursday, December 30th at Mueller Memorial, 835 Johnson Parkway St. Paul with visitation beginning at 1:30pm.
